How about we start a senior weekly weigh in thread. I just recently found DT and I think a weigh in would be good for all of us. I have been dieting since the beginning of October and started at 255. This AM I weighed in at 241. It is going slowly, but that is ok, as long as it is going. I'll let you know how it is going next Friday.

I'm willing to join this weigh in.. very discouraged this morn when I got on the scales at the gym .. was 204 last week and again this week. many said their scales is wrong.. but would like to see it move anyhow. as I weighed on the same scales last week.. stayed on program and exercised hard 5 days.. oh well. I feel good so will stick with it.. good to see you monica.. do you get my pms? don't know how you know if you have one or not.. will try to get to your chats more often and stay longer...
Thank you Alice for starting this thread..

Monica, what a tremendous loss. How long has it taken you to lose that much. Wonderful Job.

Wanderer, I know it is discouraging to stay the same when you did follow the plan, but it is better than gaining. Some people can follow the plan and still not lose for a few weeks. Then they may go down 3 - 5 pounds all at once. Keep up the good work and you will find success.

Wand, I did get your message and I AM DOING MUCH BETTER AND I APPRECIATE AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT ....... we're going to do this WE WILL TAKE IT ONE DAY AT A TIME ...

We've learned something each day .... and we will continue to learnTHE SCALE MAY NOT SHOW THE NUMBERS ..... but remember YOU DIDN'T GAIN IT IN A DAY, WEEK, MONTH OR YEAR ....so give yourself the TIME TO SUCCEED . Patience is not one of my virtues either (you see I was getting a slice of Cheesecake when God was handing out patience ....and when God was giving out parents I had stopped at the candy counter ..I could have been a Rockefeller ) but I have learned that each day I stay on my program WILL GIVE ME A SENSE OF ACCOMPLISHMENT FOR THE WEEKDAY I WEIGH MYSELF.

Alice to answer your question I started at Dietwatch on March 19, 2000 -- I weighed 307 pounds and I had seen my doctor two weeks prior and was told my blood sugars (I am a Diabetic) were totally out of control (high 250-375 range)and that if I didn't lose weight I would not be around too much longer. THAT WOKE ME UP .....AND IT SHOWED ME SOMETHING I HAD LONG FORGOTTEN , I can do anything I set my mind to do. I was taught that by my parents and I forgot ... but WE'RE GOING TO SUCCEED ALICE, WAND and anyone else who reads this post... WE WILL SUCCEED no matter how long it takes BECAUSE WE ARE ALL WONDERFUL HUMAN BEINGS WHO HAVE THE ABILITY TO SUCCEED. Make it a great weekend. Always, Monica

I GAINED 2 POUNDS -- but today is a new day and I am ready to make it a successful week. I am going to start journalizing.

I notice the chat room is always empty when I log on so I think I need to start journalizing my day. This sliding back and forth is doing me more harm than good. Make it a great day..... AND I BELIEVE IN MY ABILITY TO SUCCEED

Hi Monica,

Sorry about the 2 lb gain. Don't get discouraged. Just keep on trying to keep on trying. I personally feel if I can hold my own this next two weeks without a gain that I am doing just fine. I am trying to keep the eating within reason, but I am partaking of some of the goodies. Your story was very interesting and I'm sure the loss you have had so far has gone a long way to get you back in better health. Good Luck.

Well, this week I didn't hold my own, I gained 4 lb. I had a terrible eating week. Had friends for dinner on Saturday and went down hill from there. I will make a great effort to get back on track this week. Planning to go for a walk on Saturday. With Christmas, we'll see how it goes.

Hi all,

This week I stayed the same, which isn't bad for holiday eating. I have not lost the 4 lb that I gained last week, but this is another week and no excuses to be eating wrong any more. I WILL DO BETTER THIS WEEK.

I got on the scale this morning ----and I stayed the same. To be honest I am confused and unhappy. I went over the entire week's food intake and the only thing I did notice was that I was up on Sodium (not every day but for 3 days out of the week)intake. The Total Fat and Saturated Fat were all at lower levels then required and calories were within the range I set for myself. I had really thought I would show a loss. Well there is always next week. oh Monica, I know how you feel. I was very discouraged when I got on the scales at the gym. It even showed I've gained. Could the sins of the holidays be catching up with me even tho I've been strictly op since Fri? even went for 2 long hikes over the weekend.. But not going to give up as I know it will have to start going away.. I just want to see it NOW

I weighed in this Am and still 245.5. Having some problems sticking to plan. Guess the holiday eating left me with more of a problem than I realized. Oh well, next week will be better. I WILL DO IT.

Hope everyone else is doing better than I am.

Thank you very much. I am looking forward to tomorrow to hear about your success.

This has been a trying and emotional week for me. My neighbor passed away last week and he was buried on Tuesday. I am finally back to walking (missed 3 days) and I am back to keeping myself busy during the day and planning meals etc..

Hope the coming week goes well for everyone and that you show a loss.

Alice,

Thank you very much for your kind words -- they are greatly appreciated.

CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR SUCCESSFULLY ACHIEVE YOUR HALF POUND LOSS!!

I have a couple of questions to ask you:

Do you take your measurements at least once a month? I usually take my measurements at the first of each month. Those lost inches are just as important as the numbers on the scale.

How much water intake do you consume daily? I find by my drinking 120 to 140 ounces helps me tremendously. I usually drink 12 ounces ice water before I eat each meal and then 16 to 20 ounces with and after my meals. The ice water helps curb my appetite. If you don't like drinking water (which I didn't when I first started my weight loss journey), you might put in a slice of lemon/lime or orange in the water.

Make it a great weekend!! AND AGAIN CONGRATS ON YOUR SUCCESSFUL LOSS ....THIS IS OUR YEAR....AND WE ARE GOING TO SUCCEED!!
Always, Monica

Alice
01-25-02, 10:40 PM
Thanks for the encouragement Monica. I haven't been measuring. I will make it a point to do so on Monday, seeing it is Feb. 1.

I am trying to drink more water but haven't gotten the amount I need down yet. I drink about 32 oz when I am working. I don't think of it often enough when I am home. I have to make it a habit of having it around meals like you are doing.

Also, I know I am not exercising enough. Here in New York State it is cold to be outside this time of year. I have a treadmill, but don't use it often enough. That is something else I have to make a habit.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will work on makeing these things a habit. I understand it takes three weeks to make something new a habit so by the end of February I should be in good shape. That is as far as habits go, not the weight thing.

ALICE .........I am proud of you. !!!

Staying the same IS ALWAYS AND WILL ALWAYS BE BETTER THAN A GAIN AND CONGRATULATIONS ON INCREASING YOUR WATER INTAKE.

You didn't mention whether or not you took your measurements....I make it a practice to do that the first of each month.

I did lose 2 inches ...but I still need to work on reducing the stomach area.

Make it a great weekend .... take care. As always, Monica

Monica, Thanks so much for your support and encouragement. I really appreciate your help as I know how far you have come and also how difficult it has been for you. I have not taken my measurements yet, but I will do so in the morning. I have been having problems not eating snacks in the evening. Last week I started to eat a bigger breakfast (learned from your journal) and that has helped me not be so hungry later in the day. I hope that by doing that and drinking the water that it will help me start to lose. Thanks again.

Another Friday. I weighed in this AM and was back up the 1/2 lb that I lost last week.

I have been reading the book about Carbohydrate Addicts. I decided to give it a try and am on my third day. It has really helped with the cravings. I think that this might be the answer for me. We have to remember we will go up and down BUT the fact that your slacks feel looser SHOWS YOU ARE SUCCEEDING in your commitment.

I weighed in this morning ..........AND I STAYED THE SAME .

I am absolutely thrilled with that. On Saturday evening, I acted very foolishly -- and lol I am being very kind to myself , BECAUSE FOOLISH IS A POLITE WORD FOR BEING STUPID. I ate 11 Chocolate Chip Brownies because when I took my evening blood sugar it was 152....which is high for me.

I couldn't fall asleep Saturday night ....early Sunday morning PANGS OF CONSCIENCE.. but everything is okay. Blood Sugars were not high Sunday and I didn't gain. The world is mine again.

Welcome to Weigh-In, Venus. It is always good to have a new loser in the gang. I am divorced and live in Rochester, New York. I work part time and enjoy it very much. I was in Austrailia last August. Arial B Hello out there. I am completely new on how to use these forum but I am givng a try today with the Senior weight in. I am to be 62 in April and I will also be retired at last after 22 working years. :o So here my weigh in for Sunday February 24th. :ahhh:

I am married. Goal for the rest of this year is to just get to 199, under 200 lb weight. I think that all I can manage with all the new changes in my life this year, mostly going into retirement after all these years.

Thank your for this forum and I will learn how to use it.

Welcome Betty.. Glad to have you join us.

You are having some adjustment with retiring, I'm sure.

I was a stay at home mom most of my life. so adjusted to the children leaving the nest..

Now am having the time of my life. I see the grandchildren often but don't raise them. and am doing what I want. I have become a 'gym rat'. have friends that go also so it is our social time as well as exercise time. Have joined a hiking group and will get out my paints again this summer when we get up in the mts.

I got on the scale this morning ......I STAYED THE SAME ....... which in of itself is disappointing; but a maintain is always better than a gain .

I have a lot of things to accomplish today ......I want to be able to enjoy tomorrow with nothing to do but celebrate.

Make it a great week and I hope to hear about your successes on Friday. Always, Monica

Thank so much for the welcome. Tuscon AZ. I was ten years old when my parent and I took a trip from PA to CA. I never forgot AZ. or TX. I love those western sunsets. Here I am going on 62 and I always can see those sunset in my mind like a photograph.
I join the 4th of July challenge. My first challenge.

Thank for the encouragement. Betty

I am thrilled to report that after weighing in this morning. I LOST ONE AND A HALF POUNDS .. making a total loss of 116 pounds with 51 pounds to goal.

I was thinking maybe if I lowered my carbs by 50 grams I would lose more weight..... so during the month of March and April ....we will see. Make it a great day. Always, Monica

Weighed in this morning and show a gain of 1.5 lb for the week, using my average for each day. I was off my CAD plan for about a week and showed a steady gain. I got back on track on Tuesday and have showed a steady loss since then. I take my weight each day and use an average for the week, therefore the 1.5 gain. At least I have learned that I will lose as long as I stay on the plan. I am sure that will help me stay on plan.

Monica, good luck on cutting the carbs. I do feel that I have to do that for me. My weight the last two weeks is showing me that. Just try to remember that you have already lost a lot of weight and it will slow down as you have less pounds to lose.

Hi Alice,

Alice, I was wondering have you thought about journalizing your dietary intake.... I know since I have started my journal IT HAS REALLY HELPED ME become more aware of my food intake.

I am aware that the closer I get to my goal weight, the pounds will move gradually. However, I thought it might help the loss by lowering my carb intake ... I will give it a month to see. I look at it as just one more thing to be aware of ....lol which for me isn't a problem since I really have to monitor total fat, saturated fat, sugar, sodium, cholesterol .......so what is one more.

Make it a fantastic day and have a great weekend . As always, Monica

Good Morning,

I just weighed in this morning ....force of habit but I am happy to report I lost 1 pound ... makes me 190 another 50 pounds to goal.

I have been working on reducing my carb intake ..... and I vary between 190 and 180. I will keep working on it .... it has affected my fiber intake so I will check with someone who might be able to offer some suggestions where I can maintain a high fiber intake and keep the carbs down.

Make it a great week .....Monica

Good going Monica.. congrats on the lb lost.. I got on the scales at the gym and it wasn't good to me. hope it is broken.. we had some out of routine eating the last 4 days so may not even want to get on the one at home.. I haven't anyhow.. Just got back from the gym.. I'd think that would help. but sure takes a lot more than that for me..
Only suggestion I'd have on the fiber is to just really pick high fiber for the carbs you do eat or are you cutting out all cereals and breads? Take care...

Hi

New to this board. Didn't have a good week. I gained 1 1/4# this week. Bad case of JELLY BEANS. I was only 1/2# from my 1st 10# loss. Went 8 weeks without gaining, than crashed.
CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who successed in a loss this week.

Hi Judy and welcome,

Don't fret about the gain. You have been doing great going 8 weeks without a gain. Just get rid of the jelly beans and go on from there. If you have grandchildren, give them the jelly beans, or anyone who doesn't need to lose weight. lol

I weighed in today & I have lost 1#. I have a little over 36# to go, but I plan on it being a slow process, because I want my body to adjust to the new weight, so the weight will stay off for good. I'm also trying to keep moving, which I wasn't doing before.

Hope everyone is having a good week.

Another weigh in day and I gained 1 lb. My daughter and her husband were here on Saturday and I ate carbs at two meals that day. When that happens I always show a gain and it takes me about 3 days to get back on track. This is a learning experience, and I have learned a big lesson. I WILL show a loss next week.

Have a happy weekend everyone!!

Hi Alice

You can do it. I had that problem a week ago & this Tuesday I had a 1# loss. I love Carbs (like sandwiches, I could eat them for every meal) but I have been staying away from they as much as possible. If I do have a sandwich I use low fat bread, low fat oleo & mayo.
We're going to my son & DIL house this Saturday for our family Easter gathering. It will be a challenge for me, but I know I can do it. Holidays are a bad time for all of us, but we can survive it & move on.

Hope you have a Happy & Blessed Easter!

Thanks Judy and Wand ....

Judy: I started my weight loss journey on March 19th, 2000 ... and I had to relearn what I was taught as a child ... taking it one step at a time and believing in myself.

The weight gain was because of my own doing ..... and I take responsibility for it; but I have a new week ahead of me and I will go forward. I am looking forward to hearing about your success.

WAY TO GO !!! ALICE!! Sounds like your having a great week.

Alice, I agree with you, Slow is Good. I believe if we take it off slow, it will be easier to maintain our weight later. I started on the program on Jan. 8, 2002 & have taken off 10.5#. When I was younger I would take that off in a month or less. The older we get it seems harder to take it off, maybe it's because we do tend to slow down in our activities.

Hope Everyone is having a great Friday!!

Good Morning Alice,

I read your post yesterday and I wanted to take the time to write something more than just a brief note.

I wanted to suggest something that oftimes works for me to give me a jumpstart on my weight loss especially when I have maintained for three or four weeks. This was given to me by one of the dietitians at Dietwatch (the site where I started my weight loss journey). It is called THE PLATE METHOD. You use it for one week only; you eat your regular breakfast and lunch meals and at dinner time you use THE PLATE METHOD.

Take a large dinner plate:

FILL ONE HALF (1/2) OF THE PLATE WITH VEGETABLES (EXCEPT PEAS AND CORN);

FILL ONE QUARTER (1/4) OF THE PLATE WITH PROTEIN (CHICKEN, TURKEY, FISH);

FILL ONE QUARTER (1/4) OF THE PLATE WITH STARCH (PASTA, RICE, POTATO --I use brown rice, whole wheat pasta and baked potato)

Because I am a diabetic and it is essential for me to have more fiber in my food consumption ... she suggested I take another large dinner plate fill it with dark green leafy lettuce (like Romaine) and use a lot of raw vegetables (broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, radishes, jicama, cucumber etc.) and use either a Rice Vinegar or Balsamic Vinegar as a salad dressing.

I don't know if this program will fit in with your weight loss program ..... but I thought maybe it might help. You can give it a try for one week ... just to give you a jumpstart.

Take care my friend, make it a great weekend. Keep me posted on your success (REMEMBER A MAINTAIN IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN A GAIN). Always, Monica

Hi Everyone,

Weigh in today, I lost 1/4#, that put me back to my 10# goal. I didn't think it would happen after the weekend. I was in Illinois for the funeral of my aunt, & we mostly sat around & talked & of course ate. I tried to make good choices, but I slipped a couple of times. I'm an emotional eater.

Alice,

I know you go by a weekly average ...... would you be willing to try weighing in once a week .....

Sometimes when we weigh ourselves every day .... it is not always at the same time of day, amount of clothing varies, and in my opinion we don't really get an accurate picture of our successes.

Also .... just a suggestion take your measurements at the end of the month ..... and see what inches you have lost at the end of next month.

Be patient with yourself YOU ARE GOING TO MAKE IT HAPPEN. This is our year. As always, Monica

Sorry everyone that I haven't written here sooner .... I AM THRILLED TO SAY I LOST ONE GLORIOUS FANTASTIC SUPER POUND I am now back to 186 ..... and I AM SO VERY HAPPY.

My blood sugars this morning were okay (they always are) and I promised my fellow 100 Plus chatterers that I would not dwell on the sugars ...... AND I WILL TRY TO KEEP MY PROMISE.

Make it a great day ..... and a :rose: to make you :) today and every day. Always, Monica

Thanks for your words of encouragement Monica. I will try the weighing in once a week and also taking my measurements.

Congratulations on getting rid of the 1 pound. You are really doing great. I understand your concern about the bs but I do agree with the others that the stress you put on yourself can only make the situation worse. I do know that it is easier said than done but please try not to stress over it. :o

Monica, CONGRATULATIONS ON THE SUPER 1 POUND. Here's some :gflower: flowers for you. Keep up the good work.

I stayed the same this week. Total lost since 1/8/02 - 10#. I'm happy with this amount. But I still say we will get to goal this year.

Alice, I agree with Monica on only weighing once a week. I do it on the same day & time. I find I get discouraged if I weigh during the week & the scale shows a gain.

Hope everyone is having a great week.

Congratulations on staying the same Judy. It is better than a gain any day. Hope everyone is having a wonderful week in every way.

This week I again gained, but only 1/2 pound. After looking over my food on Fitday I have decided to cut back further on carbs. My weight is now lower than it was earlier in the week,so maybe I am on the right track.

On May 1 I took my measurements so I can see what happens by June 1.

It is getting discouraging because my weight has changed very little since early February. I won't give up though. Next week will be better.

Good Morning Alice,

Sorry I didn't respond to your post earlier ..... yesterday I went to the mall ....had to buy birthday cards, birthday gift and Mother's Day card (for my oldest daughter).

I am so pleased you took my suggestion and took your measurements ..... we so take for granted losing inches (I know I do) and put so much emphasis on the #'s the scale shows.

 Time for me to ask questions again ..... How much water are you drinking daily? I hope it is at least 64 ounces ...... if you are finding it difficult to drink water you might try putting a slice of lemon/'lime or orange in a glass of ice water. Also drink a glass of ice water before you eat each meal and drink a glass of water with your meal.

How are you doing with your Leslie Sansone walking tapes? Are you recording your exercise in your Journal at Fitday?

Another suggestion: How about starting a Journal here at Diettalk ...... that way you can put in your menu for the day .... express your feelings and others will give you their input. I am finding that by Journalizing each day .... in some ways it really helps me. Some people find it difficult to express themselves (not wanting others to see). I felt that way in the very beginning .... but now it helps me to see it not only thru my eyes but from other people's perspective. Just a thought.

In any event ..... I AM SO PLEASED AND PROUD OF YOU :D the easiest thing we can do is GIVE UP ON OURSELVES. Make it a great day and a fantastic weekend.

If you ever need me ... you know how to reach me. Take care my friend:hug: and REMEMBER YOU AND I CAN AND WILL SUCCEED. As always, Monica

Alice
05-04-02, 08:42 PM
Thanks for the suggestions, Monica. I am drinking at least 64 oz water on most days. Sometimes on the weekend I don't get it all in and I am working on that.

I do the one mile Leslie Sansone tape about 3 times a week and also walk on the weekend. I only did the tape twice this week but walked at least 2 miles today. I am recording the activities on Fit Day.

I will think about starting a Diet Talk Journal. I am, I guess, like you say not wanting others to see my Journal. I will honestly think about it and maybe start.

I feel that along with the above and cutting back on the carbs that something will begin to happen soon.

Have a wonderful weekend, friend.

monicapink
05-04-02, 09:21 PM
Wow you are doing great with the tapes ..... you will definitely see results when you take your measurements in June ....

I understand ..... about Journal. And I am glad you will think about it ..... like everything the first step is always the hardest (at least it is that way for me .. and the older I get I find I am not as flexible as when I was younger ....Les (hubby) says I am stubborn .... I don't think I am stubborn I just know my own mind. Make it a great weekend. As always, Monica

I am reporting A GAIN of ONE POUND ..... I am not happy about it but I accept it. But this is another week and I WILL SUCCEED.

I didn't exercise as much as I should have so I am changing that as of today. I don't know if that had anything to do with it .... but TODAY IS A NEW DAY AND I WILL MAKE THE MOST OF THIS DAY AND THIS WEEK.

Take care all. A dozen :rose: 's BECAUSE YOU DESERVE THEM. Always, Monica

Alice, I will check out your site. I should be doing more exercise, but really all I'm doing is walking & that isn't everyday. I have been working outside alot. We're put in a lawn this year & I'm putting in flower beds, so I am getting some form of exercise.

This Saturday is my 3 year old twin granddaughters Birthday Party. They are quite a hand full. I love to be with them, but its also nice to be able to give them back to mom & dad when I'm tired. I did have a great Mother's Day.

Hope all of you are having a great week.

Hi everyone. I would like to join you all in your weight loss endeavours. I am 60, retired, and at my highest weight--190 lbs. I have been on a diet of somew kind most of my life so my metabolism has slowed to a crawl. This is very discouraging. It will be fun to share dieting experiences with you all. Maybe I can loose a little at a time. I know that exercise works but I just had foot surgery and will be "slow to go" for the next several weeks.
I also decided to use fitday.com to track my eating habits to keep from cheating inadvertently.
I wish you all success--and I hope that with your help I will be successful too.

Alice,

I want to suggest something ...... not that I am any expert; take care of getting rid of the cold first ..... I don't know about you but whenever I get a cold (or sick) my strength is totally zapped.

The exercise and your weight loss program in my opinion should take a back seat until you are fully recovered .... I am not saying you should eat every single thing you want to eat .... but concentrate more on getting over your cold. And resume your exercise routine slowly .

I hope you feel better soon. WE'RE STILL GOING TO MAKE THIS OUR YEAR ...... I HAVE NO DOUBTS ABOUT OUR SUCCESS. As always, Monica

Hi Monica,

Congratulations on your weight loss and being on oral meds. I know how badly you wanted this. What did the DR say about your theory of sodium intake?

You are right in the fact that I haven't been drinking enough water. I do better at work because I have a bottle at my desk. I have more problems on the weekends but today I put three quart bottles in the refrig and plan to drink all of them today. I'm sure this will help.

I can hardly believe it ...... I kept doing the scale dance, I even put on my other pair of glasses ..... just to make sure and :coach: THERE IT WAS ....... ON THE SCALE ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY TWO POUNDS

Message to Alice: Alice this was a new doctor, my doctor was out of town on an emergency; I called the insurance company and I am waiting to hear back from them in regards to changing doctors. This one spent 45 minutes with me going over lab report and mammogram. Also he prescribed some medication for me because he noticed swelling in my feet and ankles (the other doctor wasn't concerned about it) ..... but for the first time someone else was asking the questions .... AND I WAS SUPPLYING THE ANSWERS.

For the weekend .... if you have an empty 1/2 gallon (I used to use a milk container) container and you fill it up with water .... and you drink from that YOU WILL HAVE YOUR 64 OUNCES .... and if you fill up two of them YOU WILL GO OVER ... just a thought.

Well I need to go and take my blood sugar and get dressed, drive Les over to get his car ..... come back home, eat my breakfast, go for my walk and start my day. Make it a great day Alice.

I would love to join your Senior Weigh in Group! I have been having a terrible time trying to lose weight since Jan. 1, 2002! NO SUCCESS! So, as of yesterday, I weighed in at 180 (highest in my entire life, even including 3 pregnacies!)

I am keeping a journal with counting my calories and I lost 1 pound since yesterday!

YIPPEEEEEE for me! :)

My stats are 180/179/145

AT this time, I am counting calories and trying to make myself do somekind of an exercise, at least 30 mins. a day. BABY STEPS at first! :)

Alice......thanks for the encouragement!

By the way...........what is the SCAN DIET which you are using as your diet plan?

Scan Diet is a meal replacement plan in the form of shakes or bars. It is 160 calories each. The shakes come in vanilla, chocolate or strawberry. I like the flavor of all of them and there are verious ways you can change them. They are made of soy products and when taken as advised, are nutritionally balanced. You can check them out at www.scandiet.com. They are also listed in the diet plans at diettalk. That would be the best way to get the complete information.

:( Well this morning I have to report I GAINED ..... ONE POUND OF BLUBBER has returned to my body.

The only thing I think I did wrong was eating those Klondike Sugar Free Ice Cream Bars .... and having desserts more frequently. However I was still within the caloric range (as well as the nutritional range) so I WILL HAVE TO CHANGE AND GO BACK TO EATING FRUIT FOR DESSERT ..... which isn't so bad considering we're in the summer months where fruit is plentiful

I am not :tomato: or :c( ..... I will just be MORE MINDFUL. Make it a great day ..... As always, Monica

Your friend, Alice

I'd like to join. I am scared to death. This means commitment and I need to get away from the emotional aspects of my weight. What I put in my mouth DOES matter. That sounds so silly, but it is something I need to constantly remind and convince myself of.

I grew up with "Little Toot." I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, I know I can.

Welcome Magpie,

You CAN do this. We are all in a struggle but one day at a time we will do it.

It is another week for me and today I am down 1/2 pound from last week. 233 1/2 this morning. I am happy with that amount and will be down further next week. I had a doctor appointment yesterday and he was happy to see me down 9 pounds from last time I was there.

Have a wonderful weekend.

Hi Alice,

Just got home a while ago ...... :D CONGRATS ON YOUR MARVELOUS HALF POUND LOSS .....

You see how consistent you are ... you lost last week, you lost this week .... it means you have worked out your weight loss program and now you ARE IN CONTROL.

LOL isn't it great when the doctors are pleased with our success; ..... the only thing missing is either the pat on the head or a lollipop. Or is that the dentist.

I REALLY APPRECIATE YOUR POSITIVE WORDS ..... we are learning that our words are just as important towards achieving our goals as is our exercise, water intake and food program.

You make it a FANTASTIC WEEKEND. Take care of yourself and AGAIN CONGRATS ON YOUR MARVELOUS SUCCESS. As always, Monica

I had entered all the information earlier this morning .... but I HAD TOO MANY SMILIES ...:( .... and I needed to get my day started. So now that I am through ... I can say

:coach: AS OF 6:30 a.m. THIS MORNING ..... I NOW WEIGH -- 180

:cheer: :cheer: I HAVE LOST TWO GLORIOUS POUNDS OF BLUBBER ...... that I believe is currently floating somether in the Pacific Ocean ---- :o No one stop it on my account.

I am going to start focusing on losing THIS STOMACH ... I have often said I wish I could switch my behind with my stomach ... as my girlfriend's husband has often told me .... I HAVE NO BEHIND. (lol of course ... that isn't the word he used ... but you get the picture).

Today is also my youngest grandson's 7th Birthday ... so IT IS A VERY SPECIAL DAY.

Take care and make it a great day .... As always, Monica

I got on the scale this morning ..... :tomato: and that shows my reaction .... I GAINED. Scale shows what looks like a pound and a half gain ..... so I am now 181 1/2.

I need to go back and review my Fitday diary ... I will do that later when I get back from the podiatrist's office. Make it a great day. As always, Monica

Monica, I am sorry about the gain. Just remember that the closer you get to your goal the less your body wants to let go of the extra pounds. You have done such a great job losing the weight and controling your blood sugars. Don't get discouraged now. I'm sure that you know that you are a inspiration to many of us.

A :rose: to you.

Monica, I'm glad to see you are back posting in your journal. Glad you are feeling better. Don't overdo it for a few days and I'm sure you will be back to normal.

I stayed the same this week at 231. I ate out a few too many times this week which doesn't do it for me. I'm not X-( about it but will just do better this coming week.

My best to everyone on the Seniors Forum.

Magpie, I haven't seen a posting for you in a few weeks. How are you doing. Please let us know, even if you gain it does help to post it.

This morning when I got on the scale and it showed that I had gained .....:( .

It did bother me. Even though I felt like picking up the scale and heaving it lol I opted to go for a walk. So I have to put this behind me and instead of looking back ..... look forward to another week.

I am not :c( nor am I X-( ----- :( just have to be more resolved. Make it a great week. As always, Monica

Monica, Glad you are up and around again. Sorry about the gain, but remember that while you were not feeling well you didn't do very much. Sometimes it takes a while for inactivity to catch up with us. Just keep on doing what you have been doing and you will go down. WE WILL DO IT!!!

Throwing the scale would be exercise. lol
