Hello everyone. I have a terrible sweet tooth, especially at night. Today I bought St. Paddys' day cookies for my work and polished off about 15 of them...if not more. I ate an entire cake within 24 hrs the other day. I've also got lots of weight to lose and would like some buddies. I haven't actually started a plan yet, cuz I don't know where to start really. So tell me, what has and has not worked for you. Can anyone suggest a good starting place. Thanks!!
LISA :)

Lisa, the first thing to do is walk and way and yell "No" if you have too. Secondly, I would suggest oranges for the sweet tooth. My husband is a chocoholic and oranges are the only thing that curbs it. When he has a fit he will sometimes eat 3 of them before it passes. Thrid, if you buy somthing like that at work, send it home with someone else or give it to a neighbor. If it isn't in the house, you may go mad searching for something sweet, but you want find it. Fruits are loaded with natural sugars and Will calm your craving and you can eat to your tummys content. Hope these tips help. Realize that you deserve to be healthy and don't look at it as a "diet" it's a lifestyle change. Best of luck to you, You Can Do It!!!

From another with a sweet tooth. If you blend fat free cream cheese with marshmellow fluff it makes a wonderful fruit dip. Still a little high in sugar but it has to be better than cake and cookies. and it may be a start in helping curbing the sweet tooth. not to mention the fruit will definetley help in filling you up. Just a suggestion

I can suggest some good books to help you form your plan. One is Low Fat Living at www.lowfatliving.com. (http://www.lowfatliving.com.) Another is Outsmarting the Female Fat Cell by Waterhouse at www.amazon.com. (http://www.amazon.com.) Also books and tapes by Covert Bailey at www.covertbailey.com. (http://www.covertbailey.com.) I do low fat, exercise, watch portions for my plan. Try to set small goals for yourself and not get overwhelmed with the big picture. I'm calling my latest effort the 20/20 plan, concentrating on 20 pounds at a time and at least 20 min of exercise a day with 20+20 being better and 20+20+20 being best. As far as craving sweets, that is my downfall too. But try to eat regularly scheduled meals throughout the day with at least 2 snacks and never skip breakfast. When you get a big craving for something, try drinking ice water and taking a walk or other exercise and focus on the benefits of that while you are doing it.
