This is my first time posting. I just found this site today and have been 'lurking'. It is a great site and very motivating! I started my 'journey' in October and am down 40 pounds (probably 35 after this week!) with about 110 more to go. My problem is I am either totally 'on track' or totally 'off'. There is no in between. I just need to get on the ball and stay there. I stopped working out because of work (or my latest excuse seems to be), but tomorrow morning I am going to work out again and find time. I just need friends who are going thru the same thing. Feel free to email/ICQ me any time!

Hi Jen! I remember my first day here, checking out the site, getting nervous about typing my private battles on line, but this is a great place. Diversified people with wonderful tips, helping hands, and encouraging thoughts. I started out with 166lbs to lose and have lost 57lbs. You can do it too. Force yourself to workout even if you have to sacrifice you favorite t.v. show to do it. You can always find time even if it's 15 min in the morning and 15 at night. Put yourself first, because you are worth it. Try putting only healthy snacks in you house, that way when you get a craving you have to settle for healthy rather than resist temptation from something unhealthy. Your less likely to pile in the car and drive to a store and pick up your craving. Try to drink and fill up on water when you feel your selfcontrol slipping. Sip it for 30 min and see if you really wanted to eat or your mind was just thinking about it. It is hard, I know, but over time you can train you mind and body to "think" healthy. Best of luck! Hope this helps!

Jen, You'll get there if you just take it a day at a time. When I looked ahead to what I wanted to lose, I got overwhelmed and used to convince myself that having a day eating everything and anything wouldn't matter in the long run. But I was TOTALLY wrong. It does matter.... too many of those kinds of days add up to lots and lots of extra, unnecessary pounds! And I have them to prove it! I have lost 40 and have about 60 to go, but am determined to do it. I walk for my exercize, but want to do other things, too. Stevekim is right when she says that you need to put yourself first and make exercizing and having healhty snacks in the house a priority. You'll feel the better for it and won't look back and "wished" you'd done it differently. Just do what you can for the day and leave yesterday and tomorrow out of it..... Remember "I can do anything if it's for one day only".... then repeat that daily! :-) You'll be happy with the results and the results will last for a lifetime!

When I first started, I had 91 lbs to loose. I had no energy to even think about gettin up and exercising. I made little changes here and there, started a good exercise program that I look forward to doing everyday if I can. I do miss a day here and there, but I will never miss more that 2 times in a week. No excuse for me. It has worked for me. I am now 81 lbs down with 10 lbs. more to go. (was at 226 now at 145). I enjoy everything I eat. I haven't cut nothing out that I was eating before, just don't pile the food on the plate. Smaller portions, and moderstion is what helps me. I eat 3-4 times a day. It helps to spread my meals out so I'm not so hungry. I never skip a meal. If I'm busy, I have a slimfast shake/bar, or some fruit. Helps to keep me balanced. Just like you car doesn't run good with no oil, your body won't run good without food. Keep coming back with how you are doing. Take care!!!
Stacey :-)
