I think I finally know what I've been hiding behind all this weight from. Lately I've been thinking about what I want to do with the rest of my life... careerwise, and I don't have a clue. Today, I was thinking about nursing school...and actually caught myself thinking about how horrible I'd look in the uniform compared to all the other skinny cute women I'd have to stand next to... and believe it or not, it was almost reason enough for me to decide not to do it. How easy is that. I don't have to try, because I already know I won't fit in... and I'm really not smart enough anyway. How pathetic that I've been doing this to myself... and in the meantime, I've been wasting my life making excuse after excuse. I'm all of a sudden very aware of how important other people's opinions are to me, and I don't like it one bit. Now, I need to find out what I want to do with my life... and stop letting this weight be an excuse to not live the way I need to live.

Nursing is a great goal..and let me clue you in..have you seen nurses in hospitals?? they are not necessarily twiggies..i make the same mistake...assuming everyone else is always going to be better somehow than i am, better dressed, better hair, better something..but then you get there..(and sometimes it is tuff to go) ..and you get there...and they look ordinary too...dont let the fear and anxiety hold you back..FORCE yourself to move forward...call a nursing school..get the info...DO IT!! you CAN do it!! you will be glad you did..huggs, sooz

Sarah, I got a chuckle out of your letter...Nurses are thin??? Maybe in the movies.. ha ha!! I am a registered nurse at an area hospital, and let me tell you we are not all thin.. In fact on my floor I would bet atleast 75% of us have significant weight to lose... Nurses know the importance of better health, etc.. we see the health conditions that arise from a bad diet.. yet we are all human, and we all struggle with doing the right thing... Dont let your weight hold you back from something you want to do!!! Nursing is good exercise too.. On the floor I work, one night I wore a pedometer on my belt to see how much I walked in one 8 hr shift and it was 7 miles... gee... why arent I thinner? ha ha! Take care and good luck!! LeeAnn
