Howdy folks! I need to get down to 140. Started almost a month ago and have lost 15 lbs. Nothing drastic, just the usual stuff. Low fat, more exercise ( I walk 2.5 miles 6 days per week), water, eating only when I'm hungry. Gee...this is really pretty simple!

I am trying to take this one day at a time -- relaxing and not stressing about any of it.

Oh, yes...NO SCALE! Scales are our enemy. I weigh myself once a month, and use a tape measure for more accurate results.

Good luck to all -- we can do this. We deserve it!

Sounds like a good plan, keep up the good work. How much do you have to lose, if you do not mind me asking? I need to lose 110 more have already lost 10.

Hi sisnelly,

I have to lose @ 85 now -- that number looks a lot better than before! I'm 36 and 5'5".

It feels great to be moving and eating better. Exercise is really the key for me. I don't freak out about my food. I eat only when I'm hungry and stay away from anything high fat. But this is not a "diet" -- nothing restrictive about it -- I get to ornery when that happens!

Good luck!

Congrats on your success so far, Jules! I agree with what you said about the scale being our enemy. I weighed myself at the start of my weight loss endeavor. It's been about 3 weeks. I felt like I'd lost some weight, but I wouldn't go near the scale for fear of just getting discouraged. Had to weigh myself today in order to accurately use one of the nutritional calculators. I actually lost 7 pounds. I still believe in the philosophy that it's how you look and feel, not what the scale says, that matters. Still, it's a pretty good feeling to see those numbers drop. Only 110 more pounds to go! Well, as one of the other DietTalker's wrote, "one day at a time, one pound at a time". Good luck and take care.

Hey Melly!

Congratulations on the 7 pounds -- doesn't it feel great! It's scary to hop on that scale -- if I don't see what I want I just fall apart. So...no more scale (I will weigh at the end of each month)! Are you measuring yourself instead -- I totally recommend it. What type of exercise are you doing?

Keep up the journey!
One day at a time is the only way to go!
