View Full Version : Let's Reward Ourselves!

Hey, guys! Hope everyone is well. Just sat down the other day and wrote down some of the things I want to do first after I reach goal. Whenever I feel discouraged, I figured I could look at the list and it would keep me motivated. Then I thought, why not reward myself for my accomplishments throughout my weight loss endeavor? So I decided to devise a "reward system" for every 10 pounds I lose. For example, I lose 10 pounds, so I treat myself to a massage. 10 more pounds, I go and get my nails done. 10 more pounds and I go get a new haircut. Etc. I think you get the idea. It really helps to set smaller goals for ourselves and the reward system really keeps you motivated to lose each 10 pounds(or 5, or 2, or whatever works for you). You can even reward yourself for getting in 30 minutes of exercise every day for one week. Whatever keeps you motivated. Post a reply, and let me know what you think of this idea, and how many are going to try this "reward system". I bet some of you are already doing it. If so, let us know how it is working for you. I'd also love to hear some of your reward ideas. Good luck to all of you!

That sounds like a great system, I know it is much easier for me to think about losing the weight when I say I want to lose 10 by such and such. I am going to work on what kind of rewards I would like. I know I would love to have my nails done. And a massage sounds great. Thanks for the great Idea.

Melissa, rewarding yourself is a great idea. If you look on the general board under "Rewards?" you'll see a post done back in June that had lots of good ideas on it if you're still looking for some different things to do. I think there is another one, too, but am not sure where it is. I think planned rewards are the best. It gives me something to work towards. I just told my husband a couple of days ago that even though I have loads of clothes in boxes that are too small now, when I lose all my weight, I'm getting a new wardrobe. He says that's okay.... lol Good luck to you!

Melly,

This is a great thing to do - it works for me and, c'mon, let's face it, we all deserve to treat ourselves sometimes. It's been particularly useful to me because taking time out (and money) to spend on my appearance is a big thing - I've always felt that I didn't deserve to look nice (not that I could anyway). My last reward was having my legs waxed. My next reward is buying bottle of scrumptious perfume.
It's a great idea so go for it!
