I've only been here since July, and I can tell you if you need help or advice on losing weight, this is the perfect place to come. I started off the beginning of this year weighing about 295. I have lost about 40 pounds, and am feeling a lot better since I started this whole weight loss thing. Yes, I have my weak moments, but I haven't totally given up yet....and don't plan on it. I can't tell you how many times I've fallen off, but much like everyone here, I try to get right back up and try again. I just have tried to eat a little healthier and drink my water, and exercise. I'm far from perfect, but I have stopped stuffing my face with fast food every night.....like I used to. You can email me if you like. Keep coming here to diettalk and you'll see that everyone here is pretty supportive of everyone else. Good luck! ------------------ weiner 08-24-00, 11:24 PM Welcome to our DT site Hol. Here, you will find other people who need to lose 100lbs. I know from my own experience, that the thought of having to lose 100 lbs can feel very overwhelming right now. Is there any reason why you feel you need to have all this weight off by Aug. 2001? Don't get me wrong, their are some people who have done this and good for them. I am concerned about you putting too much pressure on yourself. Speaking from my own experience, I just want to make a few suggestions. Try to focus on losing only about 10 lbs. at a time. Besides daily exercise and drinking lots of water, you will have to decide what kind of an eating plan you want to follow? You will find that all the DT friends here do not follow the same eating plan. This is something you will have to decide for yourself. Don't be afraid to experiment at first. Eventually, you will find the one that suits you and you can live with. Keep coming to the bulletin board to keep us posted. Also try the chat line. We are all here for one another during the good times and not so good times. Good Luck and feel free to email me at any time. ------------------ katkandu 08-25-00, 01:15 AM Welcome aboard Hol100! That's a little more than two pounds a week and might be a bit much for your body. Like DJ, I'd be curious to know why so fast (I know a year seems forever). Can you give yourself a few more months? Let me invite you to my challenge group. We post everyday at least once to offer one another support. The challenge is to drink all your water, post, try to overcome a small challenge each day (e.g. passing on seconds, parking far away from the store, extending your workout). From the Diettalk homepage you'll see the link "2 Down Challenge Wk2 Day 1". See, you have perfect timing we're just starting a new week :) The board is under Specific Support/Challenges if you go from the Bulletin Board. OR here's the link http://www.diettalk.com/cgi-bin/uub/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&number=41&SUBMIT=Go Hope to see you there and GOOD LUCK! ------------------ Takin' it one day at a time. ~Kat sisnelly 08-25-00, 02:38 AM Hol100: Welcome to the club. Like everyone ealse I worry about the goal to lose so much so fast. Do you have something special comming up? I just started here and losing two weeks ago today. I have gotten alot of support and enjoy the challenge metioned earlier. You have to remember that it is a life long commitment, and you are going to have to work at it, but if you are ready we are here to help, and you can do it!! :D ------------------ sisnelly Shelby Lynn 08-25-00, 09:41 AM Hi there. I would like to be your buddy. http://www.diettalk.com/uub//redface.gif) I am trying to loose 100+ pounds. I have been lucky enough to have lost 15 so far. Shelby Lynn MATTIE 08-25-00, 12:43 PM You are all doing so GREAT! It is nice to see the support you have and the understanding that goes with it....It is very important to always take it SLOW! That is the one thing I have found that helps keep the weight off. If you are severly overweight 100 by next AUG is feazable..I should know the first 100 for me after I started doing ALL the right things came off in less then a year! BUT it does depend on diet exercise water and faith and commitment. I hope everything works for all of you...But do take it slow and steady amd try not to get frustarted...Its an everday commitment to changeing your lifestyle.... ------------------ Dj 08-25-00, 12:52 PM hol100, Welcome to diettalk and hope you'll stick with us on your journey to lose your weight and get healthy. I know a year sounds like a long time, but my suggestion to you is not to focus on the whole ball of wax.... 5 to 8 pounds a month would be a healthy amount to lose. That would put you in the ball park of where you wanted to be. But weiner is right in saying that setting your sites on smaller goals is an easier way not to get discouraged or overwhelmed. Being overwhelmed is easy if you look too far down the road. I know for me, too, when I started out it was easy to put off eating healthy for a day here and there because I had so much to lose. Problem with that is, those days add up just like eating healthy does and before you know it I had actually gained instead of lost. So I now concentrate only on the day at hand. I can do anything if only for a day..... when I look at it like that it's not so hard and not so overwhelming. Incorporate lots of water (at least 64 ounces a day, I drink 80 ounces) and also get moving with some kind of walking program or exercize. You'll want to think healthy in all areas of your life, not just food..... being healthy isn't just all about food anyway. Try to think positively and you'll be a great success. Attitude is more than half the battle. Take care and post often... we're here if you need to vent or have questions or just want to tell us how great you feel! Talk to you soon! YOU CAN DO THIS....... ------------------ Here's to healthy and happy! Dj Sage_RainWillow 08-25-00, 02:06 PM hi there! I'm new too. I just joined DT this week. It has been a wonderful motivation for me to keep pursuing this challenge. I have found that drinking hot water with a little lemon juice helps to curb terrible cravings. (probably because it tastes horrible!).
