I was wondering how long some of you have been apart of DT. How much weight have you lost, and how long did it take for that weight to come off? Just curious.

I have been coming to DT for the past year. I was already on the road to losing when I came. In Oct. 1998, I weighed in at 286lbs.
The thought of having to lose 120-130 lbs. was such an overwhelming thought, I just couldn't picture myself persevering that long to losing so much weight. Well, I surprised myself. When I came to DT, I was a member of Tops. Between Tops and all my DT friends here, I have all the support and encouragment a person could ask for. It is taking me longer than most to lose, because I more or less take the no diet approach. This is the way that I choose to do it. Not as much pressure to deal with. Yes, I still have my good times and bad times. So far, I have lost 80 lbs. I still have more to lose but I am not going to rush at it. I do not set any time limits on losing weight. I try to focus on one-day-at-a-time. I wish you all the best and keep posting your progress.

I've been coming here for 3 years. But finally became serious about losing weight in January of this year and have nothing but continued losses. I love the people here and I think John is a fantastic person. Actually when ya think of it??? I've been coming here before John took over.. TEEHEE

I've been coming here to DT for a little over a month I think. I started trying to lose in March of this year, and then kind of fell off for a while, but didn't gain what I had lost. As soon as I had joined DT however, the motivation kicked in and now I have lost 45 pounds. Yes, it's taken a while, but it's nice to know that the weight isn't going to just pop back on because I've been starving myself or trying to lose too fast. It's nice making small changes that stay with you because I can see myself living like this, and I don't feel deprived of any of my favorite foods. I just know not to eat them everyday.

I started coming here in January, and immediately fell in love with this site. I lost a decent amount of weight and met some really great people. Then, for whatever reason, I stopped losing weight and, subsequently, stopped coming to this site. When the thought of dieting once again weighed on my mind in July, I turned to this site for the inspiration to get started again. Now, I'm 12 pounds lighter! I don't think I could have gotten started on the path to weight loss without diettalk. I have already "met" so many great people here. They really keep me motivated. I really think I can do it this time. But whether I fail or persevere, I know that the wonderful, caring people here at diettalk will be there for me, never judging me, but just lending me a helpful hand to get back on that horse and start again. Hope you find all of the support and inspiration you need here. Take care.
