Is anyone out there doing Optifast? I have been on it for about 2 months and have lost about 23 lbs. and quite a few inches. But the "menu" (which I lovingly refer to as "chocolate or vanilla sludge" gets boring. Would like to hear from anyone else doing this, and their results. I am going crazy for something that CRUNCHES (and "cheat", moderately, with jicama.)

Love to read these posts. Nice to find compatriots in this battle.

Hello! I am new here. I am finally glad to read that someone else is doing the Optifast diet! I also am doing the diet. Stoped for a week because a friend had told me some scary info! But I spoke to my doctor and they told me not to worry - I trust them. But as for eating - did your doctor not give you the option of the diet bars. They are great you might want to ask them becuase you can use one of the bars in place of the drink. I truly think that that helps - becuase you are munching on something and not just drinking.

Hi Lisa,
I have been on optifast for about 3 weeks. I started the week of Christmas and "boy", was that hard...I have lost 17 lbs and also inches. I like the diet a lot. I know what people mean by the same foods all the time. I have 2 shakes a day, 2 bars, and a lean cusine at night with lots of extra veggies and fruit. I have been overweight all my life and very heavy. I have had problems walking and standing. I needed to do it. I really wanna go for it. It's true a life long change needs to be made. I have to have it in my mind, that when I reach my goal weight in a year I still need to watch what i eat. I feel great!!! Just from losing the 17 lbs. I have a little more energy and can stand for awhile..Good luck to you all.. :) Try to see if you can find your balance. I crave bread and crackers. So tomorrow i'm gonna go look for low cal wheat thins. I am on a a 1200- 1400 cal a day diet. You need to get something you like in there..

COngratulations on doing optifast and losing! It's hard, but so far I find it's worth it too. I"ve been on five weeks and have lost 28 pounds, but I'm on total suplements only--no "food". As for making it better and more variety, well, I use extracts and sometimes ice, sometimes hot. I like the chocolate really hot with a few drops of peppermint extract in it and a half an envelope of Equal, and the vanilla hot with almond or alone. I use a half packet of equal amost every time as it kills that nasty fake taste, but cold either flavor are good with orange extract or banana--also cherry is good. Try mixing vanilla with lemon jello--it's like real food.I allow myself two bar meals a week since they're higher in calories and takes two bars to make one meal. I like the chocolate and PB best. Oh, the choc. powder is good with diet creme soda too. Last week I bought an expensice sixpack of good diet root beer in tall brown bottles--it was so nice to drink that way--felt almost like having a beer--and made me feel more 'normal' with my husband in the hot tub. GOod luck to all fo you, and congratulations. --Muminschool
