Hi all,
Started this diet thing on Feb 15th. I ate sooooo bad on Valentines Day, that I figured the best Valentines Day gift I can give to myself is to loose weight. Signed up at the YMCA the next day....lol...
Initial weight 215 on my scale, 217 on Y's scale......the Y's is prob more accurate.
Yesterday I weighed in at 214 1/2 on Y's scale and 212 1/2 on my scale......

Down 2 1/2...YEAHHHHHHHH
Goal is 140.....I am 5'2".....32 and a mommy of 4...
I have NEVER...even during preg been this heavy......I had always promised myself I wouldnt hit 200.......Saw that come and go a couple months ago......
This isnt baby fat I have to loose......lost all of that last year....3 wks after baby was born (02-04-00), I was down to 179......
ALL of this is POST BABY BLUBBER.......


So far this past wk, I have done really well. Excercised 5 days at the Y, walking on the treadmill. Yesterday I did 1.77 miles. I signed up for water aeorbics and also an adult swimming class to help me brush up on my technique and learn a couple more strokes. Those begin on March 5th. I meet with the fitness guy at the Y next Friday to help me learn how to use the weights and develop a weight lifting program. Between lifting weights, swimming, and treadmill, I should have enough variety to have fun while I excercise, yet get a good workout.

Eating......I have actually done well too, soo far....
1500 cal diet.....lots of fresh fruits and veggies

Having a hard time getting that 64 oz water in each day though.
I LOVE carbs.......that has been tough cutting back to heathier portions there and eating more veggies instead.
I love SWEETS.....esp choc chip cookie dough icecream...and cake......frosted sugar cookies also are close to the top of the list too. Apple Pie with french vanilla ice cream......HEAVEN
I realize though, that I cant even allow those foods in the house........at least not for a good long while.
My daughter who is 11 and thin was asking me to buy icecream the next time i get groceries....UGGGGHHHHHHH......I told her fine....but is has to be a flavor i dont particularly care for. I hated telling her that, but if it is in the house, i have NO control.
Prob one of the hardest things I am finding is getting enough dairy into my diet. Even 1 cup of skim milk has 90 calories.....
I need to start a good multivitamin.....

I want to keep this journal to keep me accountable. My hubby is supportive, but does not want to hear about it every day....He is also "fluffy" and needs to loose but is too embarrassed to go to the gym.

All right TJ! for deciding to keep a journal. I have been doing it for about a month and a half, and I really think it is helping me to a degree. I post it everyday here on diettalk, but I just started posting it this week.

Well it sounds like you are doing great. If you start to fall I will be there to pick you up. I post my intake now too. It does help. It sounds like you are going to make it. I have my pom poms :D

Friday went ok
Breakfast instant oatmeal.......150 cals 1.5gm fat
snack veg egg roll /no sauce... 130 cals 1.5 gm fat
lunch 2 pieces veg pizza/easy on cheese...cals ???? fat????
snack... 2 ff/sf fudge bars 35 cals each 0 fat
supper tomato soup and BLT with ff bread and low fat turkey bacon and FF mayo.....300 cals 2 gm fat
snack veggie egg roll, no sauce...130 cals
1.5 gm fat

Total>>>>>> 835 cals 6.5 gm fat +++++ the pizza which added prob a couple more hundred cals and a couple more gms fat

5 glasses water......3 cups low sod. bullion....1 glass sugar free sprite .....

Walked 2 miles on treadmill....


I didnt get any fruits in yesterday / need more dairy/ and need more water.

I am shocked at how low the cals and fat gms were. I thought they would be a lot more.
My schedule yesterday was kind of screwy....i was taking care of a sick child so i couldnt eat at my "schedule" times and actually didnt get lunch in until 2pm....

I am really craving sweets right now....Please tell me this will ease off. I am starting to PMS too.......not a good thing.

Tonight hubby will be gone.......I think I am going to have shrimp cocktail......my absolute favorite...even when I wasnt dieting..lol

Special things I am going to buy today at the grocery......blueberries...YUMMY $1.50 for 1/2 pt at Walmart.......fruit spread to go on my ff bread......veggies for fajitas...luv em............and my shrimp.....

Cake.....I want it.....NO NO NO.NO NO NO NO NO
I will be good, I will be good, I will be good.

Did good yesterday......Total cals came to just under 1500 with 6.5 gm fat.
B-fast.....onion bagel with salsa
snack......baby carrots with salsa
lunch......big salad with ff italian dsg
snack......1 cup blueberries
snack......2 ff sugar free fudge lites...(70 cals and no fat)
dinner.....shrimp cocktail, steamed broccoli and 1/2 cup ff cottage cheese
snack.....Blue Bunny brand ff / sugar free mint choc ice cream.....had 1 cup...160 cals and no fat....Tasted ohhhhh sooooo yummmy

Only could bring myself to do 1.5 miles on the treadmill.......I really hated it the whole time.......I just didnt want to be in the gym today

48 oz water........need to drink more......


I weigh in tomorrow......wish me luck.....

I lost 5 lbs....I lost 5 lbs......well four since last wk.....but 5 since Valentines Day.......only 70 more to go.......I am soooo happy......and ready to do my 45 min on the treadmill............


Yesterday.....1400 cals with no excercise.....6 glasses water....

Still a prob getting all that water down.

Tonie,

I know how you feel about the carb cravings. It can be so hard sometimes. I have them a lot and still struggle with them. I also have a big sweet tooth. I have to give in to these urges every once in a while or I will lose my mind! Anyway, you sound very determined! Keep moving on! You're on your way!

Hi! Tj I am Gwen (Gwendolyn) you seam to be well on your way. I like what your doing. you keep it up. I don't usually have time to read everything on DT, but it looks like I need to spend more time over here then chit chat I get more inspiration. you keep up the good work. an yeh!!! on loosing 5 lbs :D

Hi all,
Did good yesterday.
Bfast...plain cin raison eng muffing 130 cal
Snack 1 1/2 cps red seedless grapes....100 cals
Lunch....big salad 150 cals
4 oz sirloin steak 200 cals
snack yogurt pop 45 cals
fudge lite 35 cals
supper 1 chicken fajita with ff sour cream
not sure how many cals.....prob under 400
3 yogurt pops for snack.......135 cals

Total for day is ~ 1200

Still only about 6 glasses water.

Did 45 min of water aerobics followed by 1 mile on the treadmill.

I am sore today....not gonna excercise.
Am a little worried about today......am taking daughter to a play with her preschool, will prob end up going out to eat after school......hope i can be good.........

Hi,
So far I have done really well this week.
I am sticking to between 1200 and 1500 cals per day and am working out 5 days a week in the gym. Yesterday I met with the trainer at the Y and he helped design a fitness plan for me. Total body weights 3 days a week and at least 30 min cardio 3 days a week. (they can be combined on same day if I want). This coming Tues I start my adult swim lessons.......I hope to be able to alternate swimming laps with the treadmill for my cardio.
I have been PMSing this week REAL bad......wanting the sweets. Have not caved in. I know if I do, I am only hurting myself. Yesterday, I really craved carbs.....I was able to work them into my diet.....just did not get my fruits in though. Still a hard time getting my 64 oz water in......

This weekend I have to deal with the resturant thing at least twice.......That will be hard.

I am going to the gym today and then taking tomorrow off. I pretty much am going every day except Sun and Wed.

I weigh in on Mon......hope it looks good....I am a little concerned though because of water retention due to PMS.
