March 1, 2001 - Today's weight: 206
Well the day has finally arrived! Day one of my new program. I'm doing the "no diet" approach and following Dr. Phil McGraw's program as well.

I've got 71 lbs. to lose. My goal is to lose 1 lb. per week. So it'll take me 71 weeks to reach my final goal weight of 135.

This morning I'm feeling very excited and enthused about getting back on program, and can't wait to begin feeling the results of living healthy.

March 2, 2001 - Today's weight: 206
Eating: Did real good.
Water: Drank 6 8oz. glasses.
Exercise: Treadmill - 2/10 min. sessions.

I did experience a bit of hunger about 3 different times during the day, but I think I handled it well. When I got real hungry, I eat something. But I made it something healthy. I know from experience that during the first couple of weeks I'm going to feel a great deal of hunger, especially if I've been overeating for a long time. After a couple weeks the hunger spells become less overwhelming.

Tonie, yes I see we are in a similar situation. You've lost 6 lbs., that's great! I wish you great success in reaching your goals. Won't it be nice to just get out of the 200's? I can hardly wait!

March 3, 2001 - Today's weight: 205.25
Eating: Rate (scale of 1-10) 8
Water: 6 8oz. glasses
Exercise: Treadmill 10min./12min.

I'm a little concerned about how much I ate at dinner the last 2 nights. I was very hungry and dinner was very good, and I ate very much!!! Last night I walked an extra 2 minutes to help compensate for the large dinner I ate. But I'm going to try to do better, cut my portions down some.

You're doing great Cindy. I'm rootin' for ya! I try and devide what I eat into three equal parts and if I have a snack after lunch I tend to eat less at dinner. You will be under that 200 mark soon I just know it! It's all a learning process. Just keep going and you will do fine.

Sun. Mar. 4, 2001 - Not a good day!!! We went to a camper/RV show about an hours drive from home and we ate both lunch and dinner out. My lunch was 2 pc. broasted chicken and french fries. Dinner was pig out at china a buffet. I know that I need to do something about those all-you-can-eat buffets. I'm not ready to give them up, but I need to set some kind of limits. I'll work on it.

Today's weight 205.50
Total loss since March 1, 2001: .50
Eating (rate on scale 1-10): 2
Water: 2 8oz. glasses
Exercise: Treadmill 12 min.

Cindy - my dear husband loves Chinese buffets, and when I moaned about going to an "all-you-can-eat" buffet, he told me to think of it as an "all-you- SHOULD-eat" buffet.

Another way to look at it; in an ordinary restaurant there is tons of food in the building, too. But you decide what is best for you to eat, and that's what you order. They don't let you go out into the kitchen and graze to your heart's content! Pretend that the buffet is that "off-limits kitchen" after you select your meal, and that the chef will throw you out if you try to go back! :)

Another one: I now make sure I sit with my BACK to the buffet.

Also - if you go back for dessert, head to the fruit bar.

We're in this together!

When I go to a buffet I try and gorge on sald. Then get my meal and take drinks of water in between bite and chew each bite 20 times. Make a plan ahead of time and see what happens. Keep going and don't let one day spoil your dreams. It's only one day.

Monday, March 5th. - Thanks so much Gals for the words of encouragement. To be totally honest, I'm just not ready to give up the all-you-can-eat buttets yet. But I will take your advice and plan ahead what I can do to at least cut down on my total consumption.

Now I've got another problem! It's my attitude. The last 2 days I've been so crabby and angry that I, poor me, have to be on this stupid program. I know that much of it is self-pity too. And the attitude is causing me to want to eat. Well today I'm going to work on that. I've already caught myself a couple of times whining to myself. Every time I catch myself today I'm going to stop it and remind myself that this attitude is counterproductive to my program.

Today's weight: 205.50 Total Loss since 3/1/01: .50
Eating: Rate (scale 1-10) 3
Water: Drank 6 8oz. glasses
Exercise: Treadmill - 15min/15min

You're rating what you eat! What a great idea. I think I'll do that too. We all go through those pity party things Cindy but you have to fight that and remember what you want and how good you will feel when you get it! You will get it too if you just keep working at it!
This is a lifetime thing and you can never go back to your old ways of eating so plan your rewards and hang in there. I see 199 just ahead and I'm waiting to say congratulations cause I know You Can Do It! I believe in you!
