Well, today is the first day of my new life. When I quit dieting I stopped using the word diet, and started calling it a "program". I can see now that that wasn't good either. I've continued to be stuck in that on/off program thinking and acting. My goal now is to make lifestyle changes that I can live with the rest of my life. I want to quit the on/off program attitude and behaviors altogether.

Comments:
I experienced a great deal of hunger all day. I knew I would, so I planned and prepared ahead of time. I bought lots of fruits and vegies with groceries. I just read an article that confirmed my thoughts about dealing with hunger the first few days. It said that if you've been overeating and binging before you started on your healthy lifestyle plan, you should plan on eating when you get hungry. You just need to make sure you're choosing healthy snacks and use portion control.

Coments:
I had a pretty bad day yesterday. It was my third day of battling the almost constant hunger. I've been eating healthy snacks whenever I get real hungry, but yesterday afternoon the hunger got the best of me. I kind of lost control after eating my lunch, and I ate more than I should have. At dinner I did the same thing. And then in the evening I really gave in and ate 6 miniture snickers and 2 mints.
Now what do I do? I was tempted to just give up again, but after I gave that some thought, I decided against it. That's the worst thing I can do. If I quit now, I'll end up back where I started. And then who knows how much I'll gain before I'm ready to start over again. Nope! I'm going to stick it out. I don't have to be perfect every day. And I don't have to give up everytime I take a fall. I guess that's another thing I need to work on with my new healthy lifestyle. I want to stop going on and off program. Today is another day. Yesterday is gone, and there's nothing I can do to change any of it. What I CAN and WILL do however, is continue today, to live a healthy lifestyle.

Mertz you can do this we all fall off the wagon once in a while but that is no reason to quit. You did the right thing in deciding to continue. You seem to have a healthy eating plan down and your are getting in some exercise so you are doing great. Some days will be good and some will be bad but just hang in there and you will be just fine. ;)
