Dansell 04-27-01, 01:14 AM Hi. I need help keeping motivated, or rather getting motivated. I know how to eat sensibly, I know I SHOULD exercise, I know the ramifications of not being healthy, but it doesn't seem to be enough to motivate me to get up off my bum and put in some effort towards good health. I can't even say that I have any excuses. I have a husband who loves ME, the person that I am regardless of my weight, in fact, he calls me voluptuos (sp?),
I hear a kind adjective for fat. I'm hoping to get some online support from people that feel the same way I do. Ambivalent is an accurate description of my feelings. I would like to lose approximately 40-45 pounds. Any suggestions or encouraging words are more than welcome.

inspired_0135 04-27-01, 02:06 AM Hi Dansell,
Welcome to diet talk. You will find lots of support and encouragement here! I have about 45 pounds to lose too! You can do it! Keep up the good work! * * *
Dansell 04-27-01, 10:51 PM Thanks inspired for posting a reply. I do appreciate it. I had full intentions of starting my "diet", (I HATE that word)today but didn't follow my promise to myself other than drinking water instead of diet soda. I guess that is a start. I know what to do, but feel so overwhelmed with where exactly to start. Do I go gung ho with everything all at once, or add a simple promise to myself daily, weekly?
My goal for tomorrow is:
#1 - weigh myself and see what my starting weight is.
#2- drink 8 glasses of water and
#3- take a walk around the block.
Dansell 04-28-01, 09:42 PM thankyou Baylee for posting. How do I go about finding a diet buddy? Anyway, I have met my goals for today. I have drank 7 glasses of water and am working on my eighth. I took my walk this afternoon and i weighed myself this morning. Yuck. I am trying to fit all of this into some kind of routine. 3 kids, full time job, son's soccer practice, and a husband who works the opposite shift can get me tired and lazy. I even made conversation with a neighbor lady ( I am not one to talk to new people readily ) and we are talking about walking together. Although I have a strong suspicion that her pace might be faster than mine. My goal for tomorrow is:
#1 drink 8 glasses of water
#2 take my walk
#3 NO sneaking cookies from the cookie jar.
(Maybe I won't have to make them as often If I don't eat any )
shelly2 04-29-01, 02:22 PM Hi Dansell, Like you I need help with motivation, I too know all the correct things to eat and do, but don't seem able to make myself do them. I've been trying for some time to get myself motivated to start (another) diet. But have now decided that enough is enough - this weight is making me miserable and am going to do something about it. My diet starts tomorrow Monday 30 April. I'm setting myself a goal of losing 14lbs by the 1st of June. I am going to follow the weight watchers plan (I used to be a member). If you want me to be your diet buddy I will. I think we could help each other keep motivated. Post me back.
Good luck
Shell2
Neptune 04-29-01, 03:23 PM Somehow it does seem hard to diet when you are "well-loved"! My husband too likes a full-bodied woman and carefully criticizes ladies with skinny legs, etc....sweet, really. But he does want me to be healthy and have a long life together with him. Do what is good for you and he will be pleased too.
Dansell 04-29-01, 10:32 PM Thankyou for posting Shell2 and Marilyn. I do appreciate it. I would love to have a diet buddy Shell2, so please lets post encouragements for each other. My diet also "officially starts tomorrow". I don't really have a date as to when I want the weight to come off, probalbly a bad idea not to set a time frame. I will make that my Thursday goal afer seeing my doctor for his suggestions. I didn't accomplish my walk or cookie jar goal today, but I did drink my 8 glasses of water.
My goals for Monday:
#1 eat breakfast
#2 drink my water
#3 take my walk
#4 no eating after 7:00 ( I can't make it 6:00 because i don't get home from work until about then. )
Good luck Shell2 and Marilyn!
Dana

I feel good today, accomplished. I know I have the will power, just hope I can keep the motivation going and not get bored with the same old food. If anyone has any suggestions on recipes to try, please let me know.
Hi Dansel, I posted it somewhere else to you but just in case, I will say it here too...there are lots of great recipes in the recipe forum here at diettalk..have you checked it out?
I read in another post you made that you are starving and you just finished supper and now I can understand why..you havent even eaten 500 calories today!!! Your determination is so great..if you wouldnt mind me making a suggestion..from everything I have ever read, it is really not necessary or even good to drop your calories below 1200 for the day..and depending on your current weight...it may be that you should be eating even more than 1200 and you would still be able to lose..what happens is, when you drop your calories below 1200, your body thinks there is a famine going on and it shuts down your metabolism after a bit..WHAM!!! it will hold on to every ounce you have because it wants you to survive..that is what our heredity has given us ...plus, when calories are sooo low..it makes it really hard to stick to eating healthy..it may trigger a binge and it is almost impossible..(is impossible) to get in all the nutrients your body needs..so..i hope you dont mind me saying this..you could be eating so much more, and feeling fuller, and still lose weight..everyone needs to do what works for them so if this is it for you im sorry if i interfered...just wanted to share some things that i have found to be true for me..maybe not for everyone..best of luck and i look forward to reading your continuing progress!! :rose:
Dansell 05-02-01, 08:30 PM Sooz, thankyou for your advice, I didn't even realize how few calories I had taken in that day. Now I am going to log them to make sure I am getting enough. Today I had
1 c. Skim Milk 90 cal.
1 c. grapenut O's cereal 120
1 grilled chix breast,no skin 280
1 c. broccoli 90
2 c. rice pilaf 300
20 grapes 50
garden salad 100
1 hard boiled egg 79
2 Tbs light done right drsg 70
1 nofat yogurt 120
2 c. dry grapenut O's Cereal 240
total Calories of 1539. I wanted to stay around 1200. Guess I shouldn't have eaten the rice at lunch. I want so much to do this, I really can't wait until I see the doctor tomorrow and get his advice.
That looks like a really healthy day's eating!! It's a great idea to write it down so you can evaluate it later like you did..I personally dont think 1500 is too many calories..especially since they were such healthy fuel filled calories and were spread so well throughout the day..I have started writing my eating down too...I know it is going to help me....let us know what the doctor suggests! *
DreamWeaver 05-03-01, 12:41 PM Sounds like you are getting motivated. Good for you. I got hungary reading about what you ate. My yogurt did nothing to blunt my appetite. Keep up the good work.
Dansell 05-03-01, 10:30 PM Hi All, I saw my doctor today and he seems to think that I have diabetes. I am going for a slew of test tomorrow. This kinds of dampens the motivation a bit. But anyway he told me how to lose 1 pound a week. He said that this is all anyone should lose in a weeks time while dieting. You are to take your starting weight ( mine is 192 ) and multiply your weight by 11 ( 192 x 11= 1612).
This is the amount of calories your body needs to MAINTAIN it's current weight. If you eat more than that on a daily basis, you will have weight gain. To lose a pound a week you need to eat 500 calories less than your maintence calories. I am supposed to eat 1500- 1600 calories a day to lose my 1# a week. So I guess yesterday I ate the amount of calories I was supposed to. He also suggested no more than 7 grams of fat per meal, along with taking a daily vitamin supplement and plenty of water. Hope this helps someone.
1 C. skim milk
1 c. granola O's
Grilled chix on salad
2 Tbs of Light done right dressing
1 orange
Tuna salad sandwich
I didn't get to eat much for dinner. I am not allowed to eat anything after 7:00 for my test tomorrow morning and I didn't get home from the doctor until 6:45 tonight.
Bummer!
hi dansell,
i hope that all goes well with the diabetes tests. i admire you for taking the first steps in the journey to health and happiness.
i am also glad that you have increased your calories too. 1500 cals is sensible and i know you will get results.
keep up the good work.
hugs bell :)
dansell 05-05-01, 12:06 AM Spent the day at the hospital taking all of my tests. I didn't really get a chance to log my calories today, I didn't even get to eat until 3:00. I was starved by then. I am worried about losing my motivation this weekend....I hope I have the will power to keep it up this weekend.
Dansell 05-05-01, 09:41 PM Had a great day today. Stuck to my diet just as I planned.
1 c. Skim milk
1 c. granola O's ( I love this cereal)
Bob Evan's Cobb salad, minus blue cheese, and bacon bits
Tomatoe sauce with green pepper, onion, mushroom over white rice
1 sugar free popsicle (15 calories)
I didn't walk around the block, but I spent a couple of hours walking the mall and the farm market. I am drinking my water, actually starting to like it! I can't wait to see what the scales say tomorrow morning, that is my weigh in day. I will be so happy if I lose 1 pound!
dansell 05-06-01, 05:38 PM Had another great day.

Dansell 05-09-01, 10:36 PM Grrrrrrr..... I DON'T EVEN WANT TO TALK ABOUT TODAY!!!!
Dansell 06-19-01, 09:27 PM Okay,
I tried this once and didn't stay with it enough. I stopped keeping a log of what I ate and gained the 3 pounds I lost back. I am going to start keeping a day to day log of what I eat, posting it here. The positive thing is that I am trying again, and it hasn't taken 2 years to try again like last time. Be back tomorrow.
Dana
Hi Dansell,
Welcome back!
Another day, another beginning! Just make this one the last one.
How were the results from the diabetes test?
Hope to read more about you tomorrow.
Noenoe
Dansell 06-20-01, 07:52 PM Hi NoeNoe
Thanks for posting, I got my test back today and my diabetes test were fine, but someother lab work was wrong so he wants to send me to an endocrinologist. I'm not sure what is going on. Today was so so, but I am back so that is my positive for today.
Dana
1luckystar 06-22-01, 02:27 PM Dansell,
Just stopped by to say hi! Your food looks really good. Heard anything else back from the doctors? Are you keeping track of your food like you had mentioned. Let us here from you!
Take Care,
1lucky *
dansell 08-05-01, 10:24 PM Well I am BACK again! (I'm starting to feel like Arnold Schwartzenager)But all is going well. I have finally got all the test back from my doctor. I have diabetes Insipidus. It's not sugar problems but water problems. I drink on the average of 3 gallons of water a day and pee about 3.5 gallons a day. I am taking a hormone that my body doesn't make and I feel much better. Finally to know something isn't my fault, or something that I couldn't control. I joined weight watchers on Wednesday July 31. I have lost 2 pounds so far, but have had an awful weekend, eating too much junk food. I have a weigh in on Weds. evening. This is perfect for me, it is just next door to where I work.
Dansell 08-07-01, 12:07 AM Doing well today. Actually having fun, but I know, from past experience, that I lose motivation. Hoping to hang onto any type of thread that is still around to hold me up. Did well with my food today. Still need to eat 3 more points, but just not hungry. I need to ask about that at the next meeting. I think it is senseless to eat if you are not hungry. Anway.. food for today:
1 fruit muffin 3 pts
1 small latte with skim milk 1 pt
chicken and rice 4 pts.
1 banana 2 pts
1 bran muffin 2 pts
1 cup sherbet 4 pts
salad with tomato 2 pts
hard boiled egg
cucumber
green pepper
1/2 can tuna
no dressing
total points for today 19 pts.
supposed to eat between 22-27, but just can't do it today. I will probalbly be ravenous tomorrow....
Dana
babyface 08-07-01, 01:51 AM Hello Dansell! Started reading your journal today. It's great to see that you haven't given up. Congratulations on joining WW. This is my third week on WW. I'm also in the 22-27 point club. I understand about not being hungry at times (that happens to me often) but you have to eat at least the minimum. Remember your body needs fuel to keep going. Try to plan your meals and see where and how can you fit some extra points in. Sometimes I eat 2 tbsp of peanut butter (a whopping 5 points!).
Keep up the great work!
Jennifer
Dansell 08-07-01, 08:07 PM Hi Jennifer,
Thanks for the encouragement. I have my first weigh in tomorrow ( Start of my second week). We will see how I have done. I haven't stepped on the scale at home, I don't want to get discouraged by numbers. Concerning myself with the 22-27 points sounds alot better than the 198# numbers. Did really well today, but still having a hard time eating all my points. I am not hungry throughout the day until 12:00 or so. I do eat breakfast ( minimal, or otherwise I am nausea with my hour drive to work). I eat lunch around 12:00 and dinner around 6:00. Our dinner time used to vary so much with the summer, but now with the kids going back to school, I should be able to get back to a normal dinner time. I am still trying to find some WW recipes on the internet, so if you know of a good site please let me know what it is.
Meals for today:
1 Bran muffin 2 pts
1 skim milk latte/sugar free syrup 1 pt
Tuna casserole ( Smart one) 6 pts
1 side salad, no dressing 0 pt
1 large apple ( 1/2 eaten) 1 pt
3 oz pork chop simmered seasonings 3 pts
1 c. cooked brocoli 0 pt
1/2 c. Cooked green pepper with chop 0 pt
1 gummy worm ( couldn't resist) 1 pt
14 points so far, 8 to go ( for minimum)
Drank all my water. Definetely a good day.
To get more points during the day, I think I will get some orange or apple juice for breakfast. This should help.
Hope you come back Jennifer.
Dana
babyface 08-07-01, 10:30 PM Dana, have you tried these web sites?:
weightwatchers.com and cyberdiet.com
Both are pretty good sites.
I do hope you do well tomorrow at your weigh in. Best of luck!
:) :) Stay Strong! :) :)
Dansell 08-08-01, 10:24 AM Thanks for the sites Jennifer. If you know of more please post them. I love to cook.
Accountability in the morning and evening might be a good idea. So I am going to try and get on here in the morning and in the evening. Can't wait until tonight's WW meeting. Hoping to have lost a pound or two. Was not able to eat my 22points yesterday. I have tried adding more to my breakfast, but it just makes me nausea. Have drank 2 of my waters already, but probalbly should increase by a couple glasses due to the heat.
Later
Dana
Dansell 08-09-01, 10:13 PM Great day today. Stuck to my meal plans as intended. I drank all my water. Feel really good about today.

I'm happy that you got to 22 points.
I see you got your veggies, fruits and milk in there. That is very important.
I agree that you should try to increase your water intake.
I do hope you have a wonderful Friday! :o

SNACK

(probalbly shouldn't have eaten this one)
ACTIVITY: 4 hours of walking around Cedar Point.
TOTAL POINTS 26 PTS
Drank all my water, but didn't get in second serving of milk. I will make sure I have at least 2 tomorrow. Feel a little guilty because I hope I didn't go over my points, I'm not sure what the custard is. I know I did alot of walking today, but I don't want to use that as an excuse for overdoing the food points. Tomorrow will be a hard day. My family and I have a pig roast to go to. I don't want to go over my points. I think I will eat before I go and make a fruit salad, something I know I can eat with low points, and then just scope out the veggies so I don't feel deprived by not enjoying this social activity.
GOAL for tomorrow: 1. have 2 servings of milk
2. stay around 22-23 pts
Dansell 08-12-01, 01:19 AM Did not have a good day today. Stayed on track until I got to the pig roast. But walked at Cedar Point for about 2.5 hours afterwards and played some volleyball, so I don't feel angry, just a little guilty. Will get back on schedule tomorrow.
babyface 08-12-01, 08:11 AM You sure did alot of walking in two days! How was the pig roast? Don't despair if you were a bit off track. Maybe it will all even out at the end of the week.
Have a great Sunday!
Dansell 08-13-01, 07:26 PM Hi Jennifer,
The pig roast was fun, but I ate way too much, but that was 2 days ago and I am back on track today. Yesterday was horrible too, but I still think I might lose a pound or two by my next weigh in on Wed. I have been trying to do more exercise ( I hate exercise).
BREAKFAST
1/2 c. Skim Milk 1 pt
1 c. Granola O's 2 pts
SNACK
1 c. grapes 1 pt
LUNCH
Smart one Frozen Oriental Chix 4 pt
DINNER
2 c. veg. soup 4 pts
1 slice wheat diet bread 1pt
4 oz lowfat yogurt 1 pt.
Much better today, will forgive myself for this weekend. null 8-}
Dana
Dansell 08-13-01, 10:41 PM Well I am back this evening. I must not have eaten enough throughout the day because I am hungry tonight. I just finished half a tuna salad sandwich and some pretzels. I took the bag into the family room with me (BIG MISTAKE) I hate probalbly 1 1/2 servings. I put them away and decided to come back to the computer to keep my hands and mind busy. I feel like I am starting to lose my motivation, I usually do about this time. I don't want to quit this time. I really want to be able to go to a store and buy some clothes that are cute and look nice on me,not just something labeled 1 or 2x. Now I am angry at myself and just feel like eating because I am disappointed in myself. I don't even know if I went over my points yet today. Before posting tonight I ate a total of 13 points. the sandwich and pretzels added another 14 ( 10 for sandwich( I don't know if 10 points is for a full or half sandwich, I will count it as a full, even though I ate half) and 4 for pretzels). My total points for today are 27, still within my range, but I like to keep at 22 or 23. I think I am more upset because I thought about eating the icecream in the freezer or the cookies I baked for the kids yesterday, and to be honest, I think I ate a cookie today out of habit before realizing what I was doing. Just added some more points to the list. X-( X-( X-(
Dana
babyface 08-14-01, 10:14 AM Oh Dana, please hang in there. Don't give up. It's a long journey but you can surely make it. You must believe in yourself and you must not let little setbacks alter your spirit.
I do hope you have a better day today. Please, keep journaling and let us know how everything is going.
Jennifer :x
Dansell 08-14-01, 07:10 PM Thanks Jennifer. I got online after posting last night and chatted with gepetto, she made me feel better. I did have a better day, still within my points, I will feel much better tomorrow after I get weighed, even if I gained, it's the not knowing that is driving me crazy. So far for today:

1 c. granola o's 2 pts
SNACK
2 sheets of lowfat graham crackers 2 pts
LUNCH
2 slices of diet wheat bread 1 pt

Dana...when your bad days are 27 points that is pretty good! I will be thinking helpful thoughts for you and hoping that you have a good weigh in tomorrow. Go Dana, go!
Dansell 08-16-01, 11:07 PM Thanks Artsy,
But my weight in didn't fair as well as I would have liked. I had a 2 tenths of a weight gain at my weight in. All well. Another week to give it a try.
Dana
Dansell 08-17-01, 07:50 PM Dana ate today:
BREAKFAST:
Didn't get to eat, late for work today.
LUNCH
Fazolli's spaghetti 10 pts
SNACK
broke my diet. Ate some good and plenty candy, I don't even have any idea to points. This really shouldn't have happened, I had plenty of healthy snacks around, I just grabbed them out of the candy box out of habit with boredom.(Of course once I realized what i was doing, I didn't stop)
SNACK
Banana mallow cookie, again, no idea as to the points. This I purposely opened and ate.
No excused. Just ate it.
DINNER:
not even hungry, too depressed. (I will try and eat something later)
I get so angry when I break my cycle that I want to give up. Once I do, then I can't stay motivated to get back on track. I beat myself down and can't get back up. I haven't had enough good days yet to see any results to stay motivated. This happens to me all of the time. I DO NOT WANT TO GIVE UP. I am a very structured person. I know that I have to keep things just so or I get frustrated. This character trait serves me well in most things that I do, but not when it comes to dieting. I have been going to my WW meetings, but so far I don't really care for the speaker, unfortunately the meeting I go to is the only one I can make. I do know the speaker is in training and I am trying to give him a chance. He does a lot of "I" talking and not enough of group involvement, being new to the meetings, maybe this is the way they are supposed to be. I hope this doesn't sound like excuses, it's not meant to, just frustration. I am starting to slip into the "tomorrow" mentality and I don't want to do that.
I have read back through my journal and found it to be very negative. :( :(
Maybe I will start a new one tomorrow.
Dana
mustang 08-17-01, 09:52 PM Hey dansell, read your journal, feel like your my ghost writer.
I have a very hard time staying on track. I think about how long it will take, the hard work etc.
I have been wanting to lose 40 pounds for over four years. I have had enough of not feeling or looking good.I guess I'm going to use my anger for the good this time and not reach for food.
I read your post I know you want to feel better. Give yourself this gift your worth it.
I hope you have a great weekend, and feel good about yourself for your next post.

still need to finish my water, but I will yet. I am thinking about using my treadmill 2x a day instead of once. I will try it tomorrow and see how to fit it into my schedule.
Jennifer I love the treadmill, although my shins are hurting when I did it the second night and tonight. I slowed down and walked further. I posted a query on the fitness board for suggestions, but I'd like to hear what you would have to say.
Shorter distances at a quicker pace or
longer distances at a slower pace? which do you think?
Dana
babyface 08-22-01, 10:23 PM On the August issue of WALKING magazine, there was an article that might help you decide. Here it is:
Calorie debate burns on
Looking to drop a few pounds? Research has suggested that you can lose the same amount by taking one long walk or splitting your walks into multiple short segments. For example, if you walk a total of 30 minutes a day, you could take three 10-minute walks and achieve the same results.
Yet a new study from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta cast doubt on that theory. In the study, 30 women wore a device that measured their calorie burn on different days. On one day, they took three 10-minute walks. On another, they took one 30-minute walk. The women burned the same amount of caloies during both walking methods, but on the day they walked continuously they burned more calories over the course of the day.
Though the researchers don't know exactly why the women burned more calories on the continuous walking day, they suspect the women may have felt greater sense of accomplishment after the longer walk, which carried over into the vigor they use to complete other tasks.
Which way shoud you walk? It depends on you. If you can only fit shorter walks into your day, stick with that plan. But if you find longer walks more inspiring, take that route.
-Alisa Bauman
Dana, don't rush yourself. Slowly increase your walking time and distance. This might help with your painful shins. Increasing your time by 5 minutes each week is something you should try.
Anyhow, keep walking! You are doing WONDERFUL!!
Jennifer
Hi Dansell, 100% and exercising, you deserve some Cheers!! Goooooo Dansell!!!

:rose:
Dansell 08-23-01, 08:19 AM I have decided to set myself a goal each day, but first I want to set a longer term goal. I still have 16 pounds of my 19 ( 10% body weight) to lose. I would like to lose those by October 1 ( 5 weeks ). That might be too much but I don't know what to set.
For my daily goal: walk again this evening on the treadmill. I already did 30 minutes, 1.5 miles this morning.
Gotta Run,
OTTO Thanks for telling me about the 26 week challenge, I'll be there!

Dana...a big, huge congratulations for another good weight loss! You are really cooking now, staying on plan and getting in the exercise. That treadmill will help you slim your hips...bet you can tell the difference already in your pants. Go, Dana, go!
DANSELL, DANSELL, WHERE ARE YOU? I know you just posted over at the challenge board,
I have a question,
you have been posting your meals every day and your points--and you were doing terrific, how come you stopped posting your meals and points everyday?? Did you start a new journal and i missed it??
Well, anyway, I hope you are feeling better already--I want to tell you, first I must say you are being way to hard on yourself, so you did not have a loss this week, at least you did not gain--you MAINTAINED-THAT IS GREAT! In the past 3 weeks you lost 9 pounds, that is something to be PROUD OF!! YOU CAN DO THIS, DON'T GIVE UP, HANG IN THERE!
I'll check up on you tomorrow again--i hope you feel better and in CONTROL!!
What kind of exercise are you working on lately? I just borrowed a Richard Simmons tape to see if I like him. I will give Richie a try tomorrow morning.
see you soon,
:rose:
Dansell 09-21-01, 08:46 AM Otto,
My son has been in the hospital for the last week and last night was really the first that I was able to get online and post. He is doing better now, I am just so STRESSED. I am happy with the weight that I have lossed and frankly surprised that I didn't gain this last week. But I feel my self slipping, you know, things like "after this week I deserve this" or "this little bit won't hurt my diet". I know if I continue to do this I will gain and undo everything I have already achieved. I DON'T WANT TO DO THAT! But as I put that food in my mouth I suddenly have DIET AMNESIA. I am a perfectionist. Once I screw up, I hate myself and then have a hard time getting back on track. This is where I am at right now. So back to setting little daily goals for myself.
Today: Drink all my water and get back on the treadmill.
Thanks Otto for the support.
Dana
Dansell--My prayers and thoughts are with you and your son! Big ((((HUG))))) TO YOU AND I HOPE ALL IS WELL FOR YOUR SON!!
I know what you are saying about not liking yourself when losing control, but...you are making efforts not to do that!! Good for you--you can do it!!
Have a good weekend...
Prayers for your family!
:rose:
Dana...I am a perfectionist too, so I know what you mean about feeling that if you blow it a little you might as well go whole hog. It is something I fight in myself, but it is worth fighting...perfectionism can be very damaging in the weight loss wars. Tomorrow is always another day, and it is being tenacious and not giving up after a relapse that will get you to where you want to be. I have lost 10 pounds and maintained that for about 4 months. I have 5 pounds to get to goal and I focus on my success so far and my goal rather than on on the 4 months of minor yo-yoing I have just gone through. I want to be at goal by the end of October, but if it is the end of November...hey, I can live with that too. Try to stick with the habits that lead to your nine pound weight loss, and if journaling helps, start typing. Just pick up and keep going...it will be like the relapse never happened.
Dansell 09-23-01, 11:21 PM Thanks Otto and Artsy for the encouraging words. I think I just needed to give my mind a "diet break". I know that sounds like an excuse to be carefree, but it is not. I am now trying to get refocused and remotivated. I admit my motivation isn't what it was 3 weeks ago but the desire is still there. I am just trying to dig deep down and pull it up to the top again where it belongs. This is usually where I quit my diet and go back to old habits and the "I don't care attitude". Its funny how desire and motivation seem to go hand in hand and can be of benefit to each other, but at other times if one lags behind the other, the relationship is useless. I will be back tomorrow to post my day. Thanks again for reading and posting encouragement.
Dana
Kathleeen 09-23-01, 11:40 PM Hi Dansell :),
I really understand the need to get away from diet thinking... I think I was dieting so much the yoyo was more like a pendulum, that would swing further and further out, one way to Extreme diet perfection thinking, the other I wasnt on the diet so I might as well eat like I wasnt, the problem was that thinking sort of took over so it wasnt even sanity at all, I would find myself standing in the store buying not one but at least two candys not because I really wanted them, but because I "wasnt dieting right then" So now I think the solution to the motivation is to learn the saying progress not perfection, and stay With it, as a way to eat not extremes :), YOU will get on track I am sure, you have in you what you need to succeed!!! take care and see you soon.. :rose: :rose:

Hi Dana,
I've just posted in Challenge but I'll do it here too. Just wanted to put up that gold star for all the hard work on the treadmill.
You are doing amazing!
Just figured out that you can change the name of your journal. You have to go back to the very first post and use the edit button. That will do it. But you can start a new journal any time. So it's up to you!
You have yourself a good Sunday, Dana. :rose:
Noenoe
Dansell 09-30-01, 09:22 PM Thanks Noenoe for the help. I did change the title to "Dana's Daily Committment". This just fits my mood better, not to mention that I am only going to be able to do this one day at a time. Thanks for the encouragement. Do you like your treadmill? Do you have a walking plan or do you just get on and go? I am searching for some structured plan. I am also still pricing treadmills out. I can't go above $400.00, even that is stretching my budget a bit.

Kathleeen 09-30-01, 09:38 PM Hi Dana
Nice to see you here!! Hey your points look good, I thought it would be fun sometimes, to see how my food is on points, just wonder about them sometimes. I am hoping you find a good treadmill, would you consider a used one, I am thinking there may be alot of people like me that use the treadmill like a cloths hanger, LOL and sell them. I use my bike, but the treadmill is to hard on my legs. Maybe the paper you could find a better one cheap, and maybe one that hasnt been used much either?
Well, you should be able to get a good one new for that too.
Take care and keep up the good work :)
Love Kathlean
