Halfpint 05-28-01, 07:06 PM Hi..This is my first attempt at doing a journal online. I have done a journal at home in the privacy of my living room but never for everyone to see. <smile> Oh well..I am jumping in with both feet. I hope to post daily. We will see how that goes.
Today...Monday, May 28
Breakfast..bowl of Kashi cereal
Lunch...Tomato soup with crackers
Dinner..Grilled veggies
Morning snack...15 small pretzel pieces
I am trying to watch my fat and sugar intake. I don't count calories very often, just watch what I eat. I do drink my 8 glasses of water daily, plus a lot of diet coke.
Debbi
Hello Halfpint,
Welcome to journaling.I think you'll find it helps tremendously.
Wishing you the best. Baylee
Halfpint 05-29-01, 07:06 PM Today I did a great job. I walked almost 3 miles before work and ate pretty good.
Today I ate
Breakfast--bowl of kashi cereal
Lunch--lean cuisine, salad and strawberries
Dinner--two pieces of fish and grilled veggies
Snack--pretzels
I have had almost all of my water. Will drink plenty before heading to bed. Pleased with todays eating ....happy that I walked outside again today and did't run into any critters along the way
Halfpint 05-30-01, 07:11 PM Today's entry....May 30
Breakfast...bowl of kashi cereal
Lunch..healthy choice pizza..salad and strawberries
Dinner...no dinner..snacked on some pretzels..thought I was having company...they never showed so it ended up to be too late to eat...Walked over 3 miles before work...drank plenty of water..overall a good day
karolync1 05-30-01, 07:18 PM Halfpint,
I don't know how you were doing before you started your online journal, but you sure are doing great now! Walking three miles, that's a goodly walk. You food looks good, too. Keep up the good work.
Karolyn
Halfpint 05-30-01, 07:31 PM Karolyn..Thank you.. I have been doing about the same thing since Thanksgiving. I normally have soup and a salad at least once a day but have decided to change things some. Only 5 more days of packing a lunch so I will have more freedom to make things once school is out.
Angluvmrcy 05-31-01, 12:12 AM Halfpint,
Sounds like you are off to a great start on your new journal. Mine is about a week old now, and just by posting it for the world to see, I am so much more in tuned to what I eat or plan on eating!!
Keep up the good work!
Angl :rose:
Halfpint 05-31-01, 06:21 PM Thursday's Journal..Today I walked for an hour. It was so very peaceful at 5 am. No traffic..no noise..just the stars and me. I ate pretty good today. I was starved by breakfast since I missed dinner last night but tried not to eat too many pretzels. They are definately a weakness.
Breakfast--bowl of special k
Lunch--salad, lean cuisine, strawberries
Dinner--can of tomato soup and ffree crackers
Snack--probably at least 3 servings of pretzels today...
Drank plenty of water...good thing my room is right across the hall from the teacher's lounge <smile> Tomorrow is weigh in..Hopefully I am down at least a pound..or the same as last week
Halfpint 06-01-01, 06:45 PM Friay's Journal..Today started off a little differently. Since my treadmill is down I am walking outside. Today however at 5:00 it was storming so I decided to do the Tae Bo tape. I did that tape and was still not really awake so did half of the Susan Powter tape. As soon as I stopped the tape, the rain stopped so I thought I would walk at least a mile or two before work. I ended up walking 2 miles which made me feel much better. However, I was so very sore at work today. Even the kids asked me if I exercised too much. I told them I was just old..LOL...
Breakfast--bowl of Special K
Lunch--lean cuisine mac and cheese, salad and strawberries
Dinner--one serving of lean cuisine skillet meal, salad
Snacks--way too many pretzels again today and a few cubes of swiss cheese.(the only halfway decent snack in the teachers lounge for the past few months)
Hopefully tomorrow I can just walk my 3 miles like normal and not feel so sore. I really have tight hamstrings tonight.
Halfpint 06-02-01, 07:02 PM Today I was able to walk my normal 3 miles. I actually met two other ladies walking this morning which was unusual. They told me they only walk on weekends which is probably why I haven't run into them in the past. Tried to mow my lawn today but had to stop after 30 min due to rain. Will use my muscles tomorrow to finish.
Breakfast--bowl of Special K
Lunch--can of tomato soup with some crackers (fat free)
Dinner--one piece of Cod (poached), bowl of stir fry veggies
Almost to my 8 glasses of water for the day. Will finish that up before bedtime. Snacked on just a few pretzels today.
Halfpint 06-03-01, 08:27 PM Sunday's Journal...I walked my 3 miles plus finished mowing the lawn. Exercise was good today. Eating however, was a little different. Started out great but then had a little slacking off in the middle.
Breakfast--bowl of Special K
Lunch--ate out made the best choice at the restaurant but still not the one I wanted to make..omelet with egg beaters..veggies...half of the cheese..hashbrowns and plain wheat toast..I ate half of the omelet and a couple bites of potato but felt lousy afterwards.
Dinner--can of chicken and rice soup with ffree crackers.
Ate way too many pretzels again today. I am going to have to stop buying them at the store for awhile. They are becoming very habit forming.
I will be better tomorrow.
1luckystar 06-03-01, 09:50 PM Hi Halfpint!
Great job on the exercise. I live in an apartment because I hate to mow the lawn! LOL!
Have you thought about trying to find something to sub for the pretzels? Maybe some crunchy veggies with a little ranch dressing. Also, I think you can buy pretzels in little invidual servings. That way when you are finished you know you are done. Just a thought.
Take Care,
1luckystar
Halfpint 06-04-01, 06:51 PM Monday's Journal Did a good job walking my 3 miles today. Walked in less than an hour which was good considering I do not have a long stride.
Breakfast--bowl of Special K
Lunch--salad and healthy choice meal
Dinner--can of tomato soup with crackers
Today was last day for pretzels for awhile. I am not buying them anymore. They are too easy to just eat and eat so they went into the trash.
Thanks 1luckystar for the idea of veggies. I always have them around and ranch dressing too. That will make a nice snack in place of pretzels.
Halfpint 06-05-01, 06:58 PM Tuesday's Journal---I walked my 3 miles today in under an hour. Seemed slower but about the same pace as before. I did not do a good job eating today. I having a craving for pizzerino unos potato skins..sooooooo today I stopped and got some. They tasted ok but nothing like they used to. That treat will not be one I want again. Just tasted ok..then on the way home I felt so guilty about eating them that my stomach was almost ready to get sick. Oh well tomorrow is another day.
Breakfast--bowl of Special K
Lunch--lean cuisine and salad
Dinner..(bad bad Debbi) one order of potato skins and a side salad I did get the skins with only half the cheese...but that is not much of a concession...
Tomorrow I will eat only what I should..No more cravings for awhile
hi debbi,
the fact that you didnt really enjoy the potato skins is a good sign. its your body's way of saying this is not as good as it used to be now that i am used to eating right.
i allow myself one reward meal a week. this way i make sure that its something that will be worth waiting and working for a whole week for.
you have been doing great. dont let one little hiccup get you down.
hugs bell :)
Halfpint 06-06-01, 08:46 PM Thank you Bell for your words of encouragement. I did feel down last night but feel better about things today.
Today I walked my 3 miles quickly as it was getting ready to rain again. Walked it in almost 45 min which is amazing for these short little legs.
Breakfast--2 pancakes..no syrup no butter
Lunch--lean cuisine and salad
Dinner--lean cuisine
Snack--had some cheese cubes (5) and celery sticks
Halfpint 06-07-01, 06:24 PM Today I walked my 3 miles today in the rain. Actually sprinkles but I got wet enough.

Halfpint 06-08-01, 08:52 PM Today I walked my 3.2 miles in an hour. Couldn't seem to make good time but an hour isn't too bad.
Breakfast-bowl of Special K
Lunch--can of tomato soup
Dinner-2 cans of soup
Halfpint 06-09-01, 09:47 PM Today I walked on the supposedly fixed treadmill. I will be recalling Sears this week. Tomorrow it is back outside to walk.
Breakfast--bowl of Special K
Lunch--can of tomato soup and salad
Dinner--can of chicken and rice soup, 1/2 turkey sub from subway. Veggies and meat only. No cheese
Snack--one small helping of pretzels
1luckystar 06-10-01, 12:07 AM Just stopping by to say Hi!
You are doing so well! Suprising how things we used to think we couldn't live without (potato skins) suddenly don't seem worth the calories anymore. :x I used to eat stuff even if it didn't taste good because I thought I was waisting money. Now I throw it away and get something else because I figure I am worth it!
Take Care! *
Halfpint 06-10-01, 08:31 PM Thanks 1luckystar...its friends like you who help me to keep on the right track.
Today I walked outside 3.2 miles. Was beautiful at 5:30 this morning in Ohio.
Breakfast--Bowl of Special K

Dinner and snack--ate such a late lunch that I just had some pretzels for dinner and snack combo.
Drank my water
Halfpint 06-11-01, 07:40 PM Today I got my exercise in bigtime. I walked my 3.2 miles in less than an hour. Then I worked hauling wood, yard waste and other items to the curb. I worked outside for about 5 hours today. Whew....I have the thorn marks to show for my efforts <g>

Dinner--1/4 of fatfree quiche and salad

Hi Halfpint,
You are doing VERY well with exercise and eating. Although I happen to notice the pretzels sneaking back in your journal again.
It's hard to break a habit, isn't it?
I find it also hard to start one; like your walk every morning. Just can't get that exercise started. But I will keep tryin'.
Keep going girl!
Noenoe
Halfpint 06-13-01, 09:15 PM Thanks noenoe...<g>
Today I walked 3 miles...in less than an hour..yeaaaaaa of course I was helped by a barking dog running after me so I hustled a bit more...
Breakfast-bowl of Special K
Lunch--1/4 quiche
Dinner--salad, mah mah fish..rice pilaf
1luckystar 06-13-01, 09:24 PM Didn't you know that the dog running after you is a new weight loss gimic! Hee Hee! We can call it the FEAR diet! Sorry couldn't help myself!
I hope that I can get up to 3 miles in less than an hour!
Keep up the great work!
Halfpint 06-14-01, 08:32 AM LOL Karen...I walked earlier today so the dog was not around. Walked a tad farther today so it took me right at an hour.
Halfpint 06-14-01, 08:12 PM Today it took all that I had inside of me not to binge. I am in a very emotional state of mind. I walked my 3.2 miles in about an hour or so. I actually walked a little more. Had some pent up energy that I had to get rid of.
Breakfast--bowl of Special K
Lunch--some fruit
Dinner--can of soup and two tortillas with fatfree cheese melted (sort of a grilled cheese)
Halfpint 06-15-01, 09:39 PM Today I did plenty of exercing today. I walked my 3.2 miles in about 50 minutes. Then I mowed the lawn which took almost 2 1/2 hours. I got my 8 glasses of water in this morning between walking and mowing.
Breakfast--bowl of Special K
Lunch--fruit and pretzels
Dinner--frozen healthy choice and a salad
Halfpint 06-15-01, 09:41 PM Today I did plenty of exercing today. I walked my 3.2 miles in about 50 minutes. Then I mowed the lawn which took almost 2 1/2 hours. I got my 8 glasses of water in this morning between walking and mowing.
Breakfast--bowl of Special K
Lunch--fruit and pretzels
Dinner--frozen healthy choice and a salad
You must have some garden, 2 1/2 hours of mowing.
I kinda get scared because at the new house the lawn is going to be my responsibility.
But I can use the exercise.
You are still doing so great with walking and eating healthy. Are you almost at goal?
Have a fab weekend!
Noenoe
discomama 06-16-01, 12:02 PM Halfpint, wow, you are like a dieting MACHINE!!!!!!! You go girl!! THe pounds must be melting off you! good job! *
Halfpint 06-16-01, 10:01 PM Thanks Joni...I try to exercise daily so I don't get out of the habit.
Noenoe...My goal weight is 115 or close to that. My yard is huge. Of course with short legs it seems to take longer to mow. A taller person would have a much shorter time mowing my lawn. <smile>
Halfpint 06-16-01, 10:03 PM Today I only walked 3 miles due to some rain coming down. I would have walked longer because it was nice and cool but I had left windows up at home and was afraid it would rain in.
Breakfast--whole wheat bagel (plain)
Lunch--soup
Dinner--healthy choice solo (not a good choice..tasteless)
Snack--couple handfuls of pretzels
Halfpint 06-17-01, 09:46 PM Today I walked about 3.3 miles in less than an hour.
Breakfast--bowl of special k
Lunch--soup and tortilla with reduced fat cheese
Dinner--2 handfuls of pretzels
Now I know your goalweight but how far away from it are you?
You have such a strict regime with exercise and food. It is amazing!
You will get there, I'm positive!
Noenoe
Halfpint 06-18-01, 07:21 PM noenoe....These are my stats so far.
208/153/115 or so I am about 40 pounds from my goal. I figure it will take about a year or so to get there. I would really be happy with 125 but am trying to get a weight which will be my correct weight for that silly BMI chart.
Debbi
Halfpint 06-18-01, 07:25 PM Today I started a class on reading comprehension and reading strategies. IE BORING....but I will get one semester hour of credit for attending for three days. They provide a lunch which today was a pititful example of a sack lunch. Tomorrow I will pack a salad for myself just in case lunch is as bad as it was today.
I walked my 3.2 miles in less than an hour. Dogs were barking at me most of the trip home today so I did have a little faster pace than normal.
Breakfast--Bowl of Special K
Lunch--(worst meal I have had in years) a so called turkey sandwich..looked like ground turkey with a dressing on it..was disgusting..I ate half the bun and the meat since I was starved...had half of the potato salad..avoided the brownie
Dinner--two cans of tomato soup..was really hungry so ate a little more soup than normal
Water will be finished up by bedtime
Girl, you came a long way. Those are great stats. :D
Good idea to pack your own lunch! At least something to look forward to.
Hope tomorrow is less boring!
Noenoe
1luckystar 06-19-01, 02:21 AM Tee Hee! I see those dogs were after you again! But you don't need them to inspire you to walk faster, looks like you are doing that all on your own!
I agree, if in doubt take your own lunch. The first day was probably a good indication of what you will continue to get.
Keep it up and you will be to goal in no time!
*
Halfpint 06-19-01, 07:44 PM Today I walked at a really good pace. Was somewhat afraid to walk fast due to an asthma attack in the night. But..I walked in less than 50 minutes today which was wonderful. I also got smart and packed a salad to take to class today. It was a great idea since they served another steller lunch. LOL
Breakfast--bowl of Special K
Lunch--salad and 1/6 of a turkey crossant sand. no cheese no dressing...no taste
Dinner--can of tomato soup
Tomorrow is the last day of class. I can hardly wait to see what they feed us. I will be packing a salad.
Halfpint 06-20-01, 09:46 PM Today is the first day since February that I haven't walked. I woke up sicker than a dog this morning. Queasy stomach and lightheaded. Decided not to walk in the rain for fear I wouldn't make it back home safely.
Breakfast---half a bowl of cereal
Lunch---skipped lunch..too sick to eat
Dinner--bowl of chicken soup...
nothing tasted good today and I did not get my water all in. hopefully I will be better tomorrow.
1luckystar 06-20-01, 10:38 PM I'm so sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. Don't worry about not walking today, I know you will start right back up when you start feeling better. Here's to a speedy recovery and take care of yourself! :rose:
BUMMER! You're sick, no walk, no taste.
But that chicken soup will help you feel better tomorrow. It always works!
GET BETTER SOON!!
Noenoe
Halfpint 06-21-01, 07:50 AM Morning.....I did walk today but took it a little slower. Walked my 3.2 miles in about an hour. Had to really slow down coming back when my back started to ache. That is what happens when I spend too much time in bed. Yesterday I spent most of the afternoon and evening in bed sleeping. I do feel better today. No queasiness but not much appetite yet. I ate some cereal for breakfast but it didn't seem to taste good. Oh well.. I will post my regular journal of foods later today after dinner.
Take care and have a wonderful Thursday.
Halfpint 06-21-01, 08:12 PM Today I was still a little puney but I did mangage to get in my walk. I took about a 3 hour morning nap. Felt pretty good the rest of the day but just took it easy.
Breakfast--bowl of cheerios
Lunch--can of tomato soup
Dinner--handful of pretzels
Still have little appetite but feeling much better than yesterday
You must be better 'cause I see those pretzels posted again! ;)
Now tell me: you didn't go to the last day of your course. Do you still get the credit or have you spent 2 days there, ate an icky lunch, and all for nothing?
I'm glad you're feeling better and thanks for stopping by my journal. Couldn't do it without you! ;)
Have a great TGIF!

Halfpint 06-21-01, 08:44 PM Hi noenoe...Actually I went till lunch time. Suffered through really do not know what the instructor talked about at all. Just barely could hang in. I will get credit because I turned in my homework and participated for the first two days. I do feel a little better. The pretzels helped to settle my stomach. I really should have forgotten the chicken soup last night because I felt horrible again after I ate. I figure it had to be a bug of somesort.. I slept most of this morning. I walked..ate breakfast and then went back to bed. Hopefully tonight I will sleep good again and then be able to feel normal tomorrow. I have a "date" tomorrow night with a nice man and I would like to feel wide awake a bushy tailed when he comes over to visit. LOL
Aha, a date. I'm a sucker for love and romance!
Questions: why is date between "", is it a first date, where are you going and what are you wearing?
Now if the subject gets to x-rated, you can always send me a PM.
Have lots of fun!
Be home by midnight.
Noenoe
Marmalade 06-22-01, 05:51 AM Hey, no fair Noenoe - if it turns x-rated we should all be given the opportunity to live vicariously through Half-pint hehehehe. Hope it goes really well for you * . You deserve a nice night after feeling so rotten. It is really hard to get all your food in when you feel crappy though. Hopefully things will feel back to normal pretty soon.
Take care,
Halfpint 06-22-01, 08:48 AM HI guys...Actually my date is just to meet for drinks tonight. I am meeting him there as this is a new man I have never dated before. He seems to be a very nice guy and so we will meet tonight and take it from there. I promise to let you in all all the details. LOL....I am patiently waiting for the Sears repairman to come look at my treadmill again today. Hopefully they will get it fixed because it is pouring and I don't feel like walking in the rain. Once it is fixed I can hop on and walk my hour without much trouble. I am very very nervous about tonight. I haven't dated in over 20 years so this will be a new experience. YIKES>>>> Oh well...he says he is nervous also. Hopefully we won't just smile at each other and will be able to carry on a conversation. We don't seem to have much problems talking when we are typing online so I think that is a good sign. I will post exercise and food later today, and then tomorrow I will get you the update on my date. Take care
Debbi
Hi Debbi,
I was gonna post all these cautions about meeting men that you've met thru the web. Blah, blah, blah. But realized it's none of my business!
So have lotsa fun, tell me all the details and please be careful.
Reading your post I could almost feel the butterflies flyin' in your stomach.
Good Luck! ;)
Noenoe
Halfpint 06-22-01, 05:40 PM The sears guy came today and needs to order a new motor for my treadmill. I could have told him that was the problem but..he didn't ask me before he arrived. I am a bundle of nerves for my date tonight. I hope I make it till the time to meet. <g>
Breakfast--bowl of cheerios
Lunch/Dinner combo---soy burger on bun, grilled veggies..fruit
actually the burger was much better than I had anticipated. I made a good choice.
I will write more in the morning.
Halfpint 06-23-01, 07:09 AM Oh What a Beautiful Morning.....Well friends...I did have a great time last night on my "date"...He is a very nice man and made me feel very special.
Just got back from my morning walk and I do believe I smiled a tad more while walking today. I will post my food intake later today.
Debbi
AngieKay 06-23-01, 08:32 AM Hi Debbi,
Good for you! It's always nice to have a good date. Amazing how it can put a smile on your face and a spring in your step isn't it? I still get that way when my hubby and I get a few hours away from the kids on our "dates". Have a great day!
Hi Debbi,
Just came by to get updated on all the details of your escapade. I'm so happy that you had a good time.
I have to keep it short, have to go p/u Fred from the airport but had a few minutes left.
Won't be posting for a few days because of the move. Will be back asap.
Keep it up and we'll talk later!
Noenoe
Halfpint 06-23-01, 06:29 PM Hi everyone..today I walked my 3.2 miles and mowed the lawn. Good thing I mowed earlier because it is pouring now.
Breakfast--bowl of cheeries
Snack-bowl of fruit
Dinner-Bocca burger on bun, grilled veggies
Halfpint 06-24-01, 08:11 PM Today I barely had enough stamina to walk my 3.2 miles. I am still fighting some sort of bug that has zapped my energy. I have napped for most days since Wednesday when I spent almost all day in bed. Not sure if this is a related to not eating much protein or just some sort of bug.
Breakfast--bowl of cheerios with a banana
Lunch--cup of fatfree cottage cheese with blueberries
Dinner--small portion of spaghetti with tomato sauce, tossed salad, one hard roll no butter
Had plenty of water today, and a nice long 4 hour nap after church. Stress level was a 2 today. Stress everytime I visit my mother.
Halfpint 06-25-01, 09:40 PM Today I walked a little longer than normal. I am trying to walk about 4 miles or longer. That is my summer goal.
Breakfast--bowl of cheerios with strawberries
Snack--aunt annies whole wheat pretzel without butter and salt
Lunch--grilled chicken salad
Snack--fruit
Dinner--fat free cottage cheese with blueberries
Drank plenty of water today...stress level was a 2
Halfpint 06-26-01, 07:39 PM Today I walked 4 miles again in an hour. That was a great pace for me since I have these little stubs for legs. I also am starting to make a huge effort to increase my dairy intake. I only put the smallest amount of milk on my cereal so I picked up some fat free sugar free pudding at the store and mixed some up. I love pudding so this will hopefully help to give me the dairy I need for my bones. I also have been using fat free cottage cheese with fruit for a snack instead of so many pretzels.
Breakfast--bowl of cheerios with blueberries
Lunch--can of soup
Snacks--fat free cottage cheese with blueberries, some apricots
Dinner--boca burger on whole wheat bun and grilled veggies...chocolate pudding (fat and sugar free)
No major stress today. Was a calm day around here.
karolync1 06-26-01, 07:53 PM Hey, Halfpint,
Four miles in an hour is fantastic!!! *
I don't think I could do that even when I was used to walking. Good for you!
Karolyn
1luckystar 06-27-01, 12:28 AM You get a star for that...4 miles in an hour! When I grow up I want to be just like you! LOL! Your food is looking really good too. May have to break down and try those veggie burgers sometime. Thanks for stopping by my journal earlier, it helps me so much to know that there are people with such big hearts here!
Take care!
Halfpint 06-27-01, 07:23 PM Today I walked early since it was muggy. Walked 4 miles in an hour. My pace slowed a lot during the last 1/2 mile or so because I was very very hot.
Breakfast--bowl of special k with blueberries
Lunch--can of tomato soup
Snack--fatfree cottage cheese with blueberreis and a handful of pretzels
Dinner--grilled veggies and a baked sweet potato
Plenty of water today since it is extremely warm.
Halfpint 06-28-01, 07:33 PM Last night I made a horrible discovery. My walking path was only 3.75 miles not 4.0. sooooo I added enough extra walking today to make it officially a tad over 4.0 miles. Could not make it in less than an hour though. Walked in 65 minutes. I had terrible munchies today but tried to only eat fatfree items.
Breafast--bowl of special k with a banana
Lunch--grilled chicken salad
Snack--fatfree cottage cheese with blueberries...pretzels
Dinner--1/2 cup of brown rice..a lean cuisine, fatfree/sugar free pudding
Plenty of water...no stress today..was a great day overall
karolync1 06-28-01, 07:53 PM Halfpint,
How maddening to find your walk was shorter than you thought, but hey! 3.75 miles in an hour is good and 4 miles in 65 minutes is great!
Karolyn
Halfpint 06-28-01, 08:01 PM Thanks my friend...it will make me check things twice before assuming again...<g>
3.75 miles or 4 miles is excellent!!!!
good job on avoiding the munchies as well...keep up the wonderful work!
hugs bell :)
Halfpint 06-28-01, 08:49 PM Thank you Bell..I appreciate your support.
Debbi :rose:
1luckystar 06-28-01, 11:12 PM The little walking guy is for you! I surely am not up to that pace yet! You are doing so great, someday soon maybe I will catch up! Keep it up!
Halfpint 06-29-01, 10:05 PM Today I walked early due to having class. It was muggy at 5 am...couldn't believe how stuffy it was at that time of day.
Breakfast--bowl of special k with banana
Lunch--subway 6 inch turkey breast and yogurt parfait from mcdonalds
Dinner--can of sou
too too too many snacks today..pretzels twice..fatfree cottage cheese with blueberries..had the munchies again today
Halfpint 06-30-01, 07:42 PM Have you ever noticed that some restaurants are clueless when it comes to having lowfat/fatfree items. I went to a very nice restaurant tonight. They had no lowfat or fatfree dressing for the salad, no butter substitute ( I really didn't expect this one). I was really disappointed in the fact that they had no salad dressing. So I ate my salad (lettuce leaves) plain.
Breakfast--bowl of special k with strawberries
Lunch--can of tomato soup, yogurt
Dinner--broiled haddock, 1/4 baked potato plain, plain salad, one small hard roll
Snack--pretzels (one small handful)
Walked my 4 miles today and mowed most of my lawn. I got way too hot so only mowed 3/4 today. The rest will have to wait.
No real stress today. Just relaxed after mowing.
dolcimia 07-01-01, 11:59 AM Wow Halfpint, you did awesome when you went out to eat. Next time I'm going out I'm taking you with me cuz I'm an utter failure at restaurants. I still have that "oh well, I might as well eat what I want" mentality & that leads to all sorts of problems!
If you're around later this evening maybe we can get together for a chat? I'll email ya when I know my butt will be glued to the chair for a bit  Dolci :rose:
Halfpint 07-01-01, 06:47 PM Dolci..that sounds like a plan. I will be around till about 8 or so..then on later.
Today I walked 3.7 miles. Was tight in the knees so shortened my walk some.
Breakfast...bowl of cheeries with blueberries
Lunch...stirfry veggies
Snack--fatfree cottage cheese with blueberries..and pretzels
Dinner--smart ones mac and cheese and fatfree/sugar free pudding
Hi Debbi,
Well I'm back! Finally!
Caught up with your journal and boy, you have been walking your little legs off. Excellent job! :rose:
How's things with the MAN? Did you go on a 2nd date? :x
I hope you had a great weekend.
Noenoe
Halfpint 07-02-01, 07:48 PM Welcome back noenoe...no second date as of yet but we still chat online and on the phone...today was glorious here in Ohio...a nice breeze, 70 degrees...perfect weather...I walked 4 miles this morning...then crawled back into bed for a nap..I am still lacking some stamina from whatever bug I had.
Breakfast--bowl of cheerios and strawberries
Lunch--can of tomato soup, cheese tortilla
Dinner--boca burger on whole wheat bun, grilled veggies, fatfree pudding
snack--pudding and pretzels
no stress today..started the day off to a great start with the chat group at 10
dolcimia 07-03-01, 07:19 AM Good morning Debbi,
Hey, thanks for the chat last night. It made me feel alot less lonely. You are a walking marvel & I wish that I'd get my butt in gear & do the same. Shall we walk together?
Have a fab day & I'll try to catch ya later on. Dolci :rose:
Halfpint 07-03-01, 07:46 PM Dolci..we can walk together anytime. I walked on the treadmill today to make sure the Sears guy fixed it. It works great and can be used once the weather turns bad or when it is raining. Its back outside tomorrow.
Breakfast--bowl of cheerios
Lunch--can of tomato soup, fatfree pudding
Dinner--eggbeater omelet with peppers, onions and tomatoes, fat free pudding
Snack--having pretzels now as I am needing something crunchy.
Have 8 of the 10 glasses of water I am trying to drink daily in the book. Minimal stress today. Finally got the plane reservations for my trip to DC later this month. Found a great bargain and spent all day working out the details.
Hi Halfpint!
Thought I'd stop by and say Hello.
I've been reading your journal, and you sure are doing great!
I just finished my dinner, but those blueberries with fat free cottage cheese sounded delicious anyway.
That's a lot of walking in an hour! Good job!
Baylee
Halfpint 07-03-01, 08:51 PM Thank you Baylee..I will admit that I am pretty partial to the cottage cheese and blueberries. It is a good snack and I can have it for a light lunch also.
Debbi
kljesmer 07-04-01, 12:24 AM Hi Halfpint,
Reading through your journal, you're doing great! I'm a big cottage cheese lover, too -lol. Keep going strong!
Kerri
Lindasue 07-04-01, 07:59 AM Hi Halfpint. Just cruising through. Great journal. We go to Wash DC alot . We can drive to meet the train and take the train right in. Is such a great place to visit. Ar you going for pleasure or business?
Keep up the good work.
Linda
Halfpint 07-04-01, 07:37 PM Hi Linda..thanks for visiting my journal. I am going to DC to visit my sister. Just a little vacation. There are so many neat things to do and see there. I love the city.
Today I got up early and walked my 4 miles. It was muggy and so it took me a little more than an hour.
Breakfast--bowl of cherrios
Lunch--can of tomato soup
Dinner--boca burger on wheat bun, can of baked beans.
Snack--early snack today of you guessed it.pretzels..
Stress was about a 6 today. I dread lonely holidays.
Lindasue 07-04-01, 09:14 PM I agree. DC is a great place to see. My kids of course are loving the air and space museum and the zoo. We havent gotten down for along time. Its harder to do when you live an hour away. Funny isnt it?
I am tickled that you stopped in to see me at my journal. This is a great and funny journey I am on. I am glad to be able to share it with so many. It makes it fun.
Keep up the great work you are doing. You are coming along in great strides with your walking. 4 miles is a fantastic distance. I know that each day it gets easier and easier for me. We have been blessed with some mild weather though, so that helps me in my distances.
Take care!!
Love Linda
So Ohio-Indy-Chicago-Ohio is the shortest way to get to class? Right? Or are you secretly going to visit Dr. Phil?
Thanks for your cheer and for joining me in the Mambo. Those little feet of yours, they make you dance light as a feather.
Too bad Patrick didn't show up but maybe next time...
Isn't it nice to go visit your sister? I love to do that. My sisters (3 of them) all live in Holland but one comes at least 2x per year and the other one comes every 2 years. My youngest sister is in a wheelchair and finds it hard to travel such distances.
So if I want to see her, I have to go overthere. Same with my dad. He is in a nursing home.
But enough about me. Do you have only 1 sister and is she a bigsis or a lilsis?
Couldn't find anything wrong with your food and certainly nothing wrong with the walking.
I still haven't settled down enough to get an exercise routine going. But it will come, belief me!
Well my lady, I'm going to hit the sack.
My eyes keep falling shut.
Buenos Noches!
Have a wonderful day tomorrow! <IMG SRC="smilies/cool.gif" border="0">

Halfpint just thought I would stop by to say hi and read a little of your journal since you inspired me into the challenge this month....thankyou very much! Looks like you are definitely on top of things, think I will have to stop in here more often.
btw I think I may have just screwed up on our July challenge....DARN! I didn't even realize it until just now! I am sitting here eating my lunch (a chicken broth based spinach soup - very good) but I think it may have some teenie weenie little pastas in it....???....I think they are pasta???

Marianne 07-05-01, 02:03 PM Hi Halfpint. Wow! Four miles! That's great! I hope to be able to work up to that someday. Reading your journal and hearing how much everybody loves cottage cheese, makes me want to go out and buy some! Maybe cottage cheese and pineapple? Hmmmm....... Well, you have a good one Halfpint.
HeatherC 07-05-01, 05:13 PM Hi Halfpint! I am a walker, too. Dontcha just love how it clears your head and gets your blood pumping? I walk 3-4 miles a day, but I am s-l-o-w. It can take me an hour to do 2-3 miles! It feels like I am really booking when I am going along though, lol. I want to hear more about this GUY. You eat really healthfully, and not too much, huh? I bet the pounds are dropping like flies. I admire you choosing naked greens rather than dressing them up in fat and breaking your program. Just thought you might like to know that it is ok to eat just a little fat on greens because the fat helps release lycopene in the tomatoes and luetine in the greens, as well as other antioxidants, by a lot, too, like 80% more vitamins and minerals are absorbed from greens in the presence of fat. When I found this out I went from fat free dressing to just "low fat" and especially a little bit of olive oil. Just thought you might want to know. :) Love, Heather
Halfpint 07-05-01, 06:42 PM Noenoe....I know can you believe it..Cincy by way of Chicago. Oh well...we are heading to Indy to pick up a friend and then go to Chicago..drop her back off and head to Cincy for class. whew...I may be nuts...Glad you are getting back to normal.
Buddy--you are fine..a teensie bit won't count <smile> Glad you stopped in to visit.
Heather--I do like to walk but I find myself talking to me about things that are best left unsaid. <g> I rehash things and worry about things as I walk. Rarely do I walk and just feel the emptiness in my mind. (Actually I am normally empty up there)...just too much on my mind these days. Once school starts back up I will use the treadmill more. It is easier and quicker to hop out of bed and on the treadmill. (can wear fewer clothes lol)...
Today..no food or drink until after weigh in which was about 8 at school.
Breakfast--two mcdonalds pancakes..no syrup or butter just plain
Lunch--stir fry veggies with white rice
Dinner--boca burger on wheat bun and can of tomato soup
Snack---yeppers...pretzels
I am saving my pudding for a late snack if needed.
Water is about half done today.
Hi Halfpint,
I see you're doing good still.
Just thought I'd tell you that after my appt. today,I went grocery shopping and I got myself some fat-free cottage cheese and some fresh blueberries, and I'm having some with a bagel for breakfast tomorrow.
I usually have pineapple with my cottage cheese, but those blueberries stuck in my mind.
Keep on a losin'! Baylee
See this little guys legs? Are they about your size?
My mom was also very short and her nickname was TUINKABOUTER (garden gnome)
but eventhough she was short she surely could wack all 4 of us girls around the ears if we did something that she didn't liked. Nooooo problem!
And what is this thing with eating McD pancakes.... with nothing.....? It's like eating a styrofoam plate. Maybe next time try the toasted English muffin, plain with some jam. It's not the same as an EggMcMuffin
but it tastes pretty good.
Enjoy the concert. And please don't behave. No fun at all!! <IMG SRC="smilies/cool.gif" border="0">

Lindasue 07-06-01, 09:46 AM Halfpint-I'm originally form Chicago, my brother is in Indy(most of the time) and my parents currently live in Chgo. I live in Gettysburg PA, so since you are visiting all the places my family lives, how about picking me up along the way?
Thanks so much for your support and thoughts in both my journal and in the SOS forum.
Take care,
Love Linda
dolcimia 07-06-01, 07:08 PM Hi Halfpint,
Just dropping in to give you a wave & hope you are having a fab day! :x
Dolci :rose:
Halfpint 07-07-01, 08:09 AM Hi..just posted today for yesterday. I had a whirlwind of a day but it was good.
I got up early..walked...and then ate some breakfast..showered quickly and headed 70 min to a cracker barrel. Met a nice guy that I had been talking to for months. We had a very very nice visit and brunch. Then hopped back in my car and came home...changed clothes..and went to the Brooks and Dunn concert.. Wow..what a concert..on the way..we stopped at a mexican restaurant...I will admit I was pretty good..only ate one chip...it was enough. The concert lasted for hours and hours..but it was great....Got home way way past my bedtime and crawled into bed. Thought I may sleep in this morning but my body woke up like normal. So I have already walked and had breakfast..
Yesterday
Breakfast--bowl of cheerios and blueberries
Brunch--lowfat frenchtoast..no butter..sugar free syrup bananas
Dinner-one chip..chicken quesadills..(could not eat them all)
Concert--lite beer
The worst part of yesterday was no getting in my water. I was afraid to drink much at the concert since it lasted from 5-11 and the lines at the bathroom were huge. <g>
dolcimia 07-07-01, 08:11 AM Hey there! I just saw your pst on my journal but figured I'd catch you over here. So, you net a nice guy for lunch, huh? Great!!! ;) Sounds like you had a good time. About the mexican food that you ate...it sounded soooo good to me. I love spicy food so we eat alot of burritos & stuff. The next time I make them I'm going to use Boca burgers. They sell the crumbles but I haven't been able to find them yet. I need to find a health food store somewhere around here! Have a great day & I will try to catch up with you later. Maybe you, Surgaree & I can set up a chat? Let me know...in the meantime have a fab day!
Hi Debbi,
Have a few questions.
What is a cracker barrel? If I hear that word I just think of cheese.
And Brooks & Dunn; is that Brooks as in Garth Brooks but who is that Dunn-person?
I'm glad that you had a good time and that you've shown such control!! One chip...!
You should get a medal for that.
Have a great weekend further and I like more details about that breakfast-guy.
It all has to be approved by the CAOH, the Canadian Association of Housewives. :rose:
Noenoe
Halfpint 07-07-01, 07:15 PM Noenoe---Hi..the Cracker Barrel is a restuarant similar to Bob Evans. The breakfast guy was very nice. Tall..his legs are longer than my entire body LOLOL...actually he is about 6'2...separated like me and just looking for a friend to do things with once in awhile...sooooooo I am volunteering..he was so nice, kind and sweet to me..of course it was the first time we had met face to face...<smile> but..more meetings will be planned.
Today..I walked my 4 miles. Only had a few hours sleep so napped when I got back home.
Breakfast--bowl of special k with banana
Lunch--stirfry veggies with rice
Dinner--boca burger on wheat bun, baked beans
Snacks--banana pudding w/ banana, and of course a couple handfuls of pretzels
dolcimia 07-07-01, 07:20 PM Hi Debbi,
Sounds like you had a very good time. I hope that you & Mr. Breakfast meet again...hey! Wait a minute....his name isn't Tony is it?????????????????
Halfpint 07-07-01, 08:47 PM Dolci my friend......No..this guy is not a Tony...LOLOL He is sooooooo tall...6'2..and towers over me...<g> but what a sweet man...
This all sound so promising! :x Were you just as nervous as with the other guy?
6'2" that's my hubby's length, that is pretty tall. Watt and Halfwatt my dad would say if he would have seen the two of you.
I'm happy that you had a good time at the concert. I love music, all kinds of music but country .... Didn't like it in my earlier years, country is not popular in Holland, but lately I'm kinda changing my mind about it. According to my sister it all has to do with my age.
Saw the Oakridge Boys once. Liked them.
But the artists you've seen, never heard about them. Maybe I should listen to a country station on the radio, now that would help, wouldn't it? 8-}
Noenoe
Halfpint 07-08-01, 07:03 PM Hi everyone..today I walked my 4 miles..it was hot and steamy at 6...has been a scorcher here today..
Breakfast--bowl of special k and a banana
Lunch-cottage cheese with blueberries
Snack--cottage cheese with blueberries
Dinner--bowl of special K
snack---pretzels
as you can tell I was very creative with my meals today..just too hot to even think of cooking or eating something hot...my water consumption has been way up due to the heat...
kljesmer 07-09-01, 12:13 AM Debbi,
You're doing great, especially with the extra challenge of a meal out and the concert. Hope things go well with your new friend. My hubby is 6'3" and I think he's just tall enough - lol. I've shrunk some due to a chronic back problem (and probably age - lol), but I'm about 5' 10", so I had to marry someone I could wear heels with and have them still be taller - lol.
Kerri
Too hot to cook but not too hot for pretzels.
Well, we had a nice sunny day here too. Did lots of yard work. Have blisters in my hand from mowing.
When are you leaving to visit your sister? :rose:
Noenoe
dolcimia 07-09-01, 07:44 AM Hey Debbi,
Did all the talk about cereal figure in to your menu on Sunday or what!!! I cracked up when I saw that because when it's really hot I don't feel like eating either & my food of choice is always cereal. Of the Tony persuasion.......good job on the Special K. Do you put sugar on it or anything? I saw the one with the berries in the store & was tempted but....no cartoon character on the front so I didn't trust it :(
Have a fab day my friend!
Halfpint 07-09-01, 08:23 AM Morning....
Dolci---I put equal on my cereal. I have not tried the special k with berries. I use fresh fruit in the summer as much as possible so maybe this winter I will try the other.
Noenoe--I leave this Thursday for class via Chicago.will be back the following Thursday..then I am home for a couple days..and leave the 24th for my sisters..be back the 28th..I won't be home much this month but hopefully it will be fun.
The worst thing will be not having access to a computer the first week I am gone. I will be nuts by the time I get home.
Take care ..I will post my food and water later
Halfpint 07-09-01, 08:46 PM Today I walked a little less thatn 4 miles..close but not quite 4..it was so humid and steamy already that I knew I wouldn't feel good if I walked the entire way.
Breakfast--bowl of special k and a banana
Lunch--subway sandwich..turkey breast..ate the foot long one today
Dinner--lean cuisine
Snack--10 pretzels..thats all that I had left in the sack..
Water--drank tons of water today..When I got home from planning my trip with my friends..I mowed the grass...had to stop several times to drink more water..
Hello Debbi,
It really must be hot in Ohio. For you to cut your walk short. That only happens when hell freezes over OR when you only would eat 10 pretzels for snack.... Whhaaaat? You didn't......
Have you talked to your new friend again?
Did he give you any feedback on what he thought of the date?
I would find that sooo difficult to start that whole dating thing again. Although you have more life-experience....; does that make a difference?
I hope it is cooler tomorrow so you can walk your walk, the whoooole thing.
Have a great and terrific day! :rose:
Noenoe
1luckystar 07-10-01, 12:36 AM Just stopping by to catch up on your journal...you have been busy! It has been really hot here too. It is supposed to get up to 100F over the next couple of days. With the humidity too it can be unbearable.
I went to college with a girl that was the cousin of Brooks from Brooks and Dunn. That is so cool that you got to go to the concert.
And about that tall drink of water...Hee Hee...Let us know what happens!
Glad to see that things are going so well. Hope you have a wonderful time on your trip. Oh and thanks for stopping by my journal...I love visitors...especially when it is you!
Take Care!
I am brand new and was crusin your journal. How much weight have you lost?I love pretzels also what a life saver! The only thing is with the hot weather I am retaining too much water and have to cut back on the salt. Doesn't it feel good to get your walks in early and know that it is done for the day :) I love that. I hate when I sleep too late and then don't go because it is too hot. Have a great day, you have encouraged me to start a journal now.
:rose:
Halfpint 07-10-01, 07:27 AM Morning everyone....hope you are all having a great day.
Noenoe..morning my friend..yes..I have talked with my new friend and he thought our date was pretty wonderful..we may get together again tomorrow but we are not sure..he is on vacation this week and I leave Thursday so tomorrow is it.The only draw back for our relationship is that he lives over 3 hours away. So we are trying to pick places halfway for both of us. So far we are getting along really well..he is really a nice guy.
Karen..I enjoy visiting your journal and reading what you read in mine. You are a wonderful person.
Charli--welcome to DT...thanks for visiting my journal. I have lost 58 pounds so far with many more to go. I will be visiting your journal.
I just got back from walking. It is even more muggy today. So foggy and close this morning. I walked about 3 1/2 again today. My body was aching some since I mowed last night. I also tripped (clumsy woman here) on a piece of concrete in my back yard as I was mowing last night and have a nice strawvberry on my knee. I tried to use my ab wheel this morning but it made my knee hurt badly soooooooo I will have to put down some soft towels before I get on my "delicate" little knee again LOLOL
take care..I will post my food and water later..I am up 3 glasses of water already...
Halfpint 07-10-01, 07:18 PM Hi again...today I walked 3 1/2 miles.
Breakfast--bowl of crispix with banana
Lunch--fatfree cottage cheese with blueberries
Snack--more cottage cheese and blueberries, and pretzels
Dinner--boca burger on bun...baked beans
almost all of my water is accounted for already..been drinking a lot due to heat
Take care..thanks to everyone who has been stopping by.
Good morning Debbi,
Here I am for some coffee-talk!
I'm so HAPPY for you that there is a second date today. What a way to start your holiday.
Floating on that pink cloud in 7th heaven!
Ofcourse...you have to tell me all about it!
Hey, 3 hrs...it's not the other end of the world. There is telephone, computer and what you're doing, meeting halfway. Nothing major to stop a relationship from developing.
My girlfriend met her husband while vacationing (avec MOI) in Tenerife. We're from Holland, he is from Holland. Only thing was he was a NAVY guy. Just starting a 6-month journey. We met him 2 days before we were going back home. Now how much chance do you give a budding relationship like that?
They have been married now for over 20 years.
Whaaat...Am I that pre-historic?
So that shows you nothing is impossible! Work on it!
I hope you'll have a great and wonderful date with a 3rd one planned for after your holiday. Will talk to you tonight! :rose:
Noenoe
Lindasue 07-11-01, 11:42 AM halfpint! Grat on the walking. How long have you been in your walking routine? I've been doing mine for months now. On a good day I do 6-8 miles. Thats after the kids leave.
I am a cottage cheese and blueberry fan. I love sour cream, blueberries and brown sugar better, but it doean't quite fit in..lol...
Hope you are haveing a great today.
Love Linda :x

Halfpint 07-19-01, 06:52 PM Hi everyone...I am back..YEAAAAAA....only home for a few days and then leaving again..but..I should be able to access the computer at least part of the time I am gone on this trip...I had such a great time in Chicago and then at class..We went to the Sears Tower...Navy Pier..saw Circa De something..it is a group of acrobats..toured the city..walked the magnificant mile of shops..and just had a wonderful time..I want to go back sometime soon and do more..we didn't have time to go to any of the museums which look wonderful...I am so so so scared of heights and when we went to the Navy Pier we went on this huge ferris wheel..wellllll no one told me it was 150 feet high so stupid me..I climbed in..well..they got a really good picture of me white as a sheet with white knuckles clinging for life to the bars of our seat..LOL...should be just a priceless momento for my friends..we ate at some nice places..ate at such different times for me ..my body is all out of whack but will be getting back with the program tomorrow..I didn't eat all that badly but I didn't starve either..we walked miles and miles in Chicago plus I walked at the hotel every morning..that was the one thing I did do daily..
I will begin posting food and exercise again tomorrow. It is so good to be home...to be able to chat with my friends here at DT..I missed you guys.....
Debbi
Lindasue 07-19-01, 09:52 PM Debbi-You just brought me home again with a wonderful post about my home Chicago. I havnet been home in 2 years now. Finances and lack of vacatoin all get in the way. I did go oon that same ferris wheel at navy pier. I was probably as white as you, and I think it would have been a great view if would have been able to fixate on anything else but my clenched hands. The walking, the beaches, the guys (oops Im married), the lakefront, food and fun. It brings back the memories of my childhood up through college. Next time hit the field museum and the shedd aquarium. Cool place. Think of all that great exercise.
So glad you are back and that your trip was great. I will write again soon.
Love Linda
:)
Hi Debbi,
It is so great to have you back again. I really counted the days. Great to read that you had such a good time. Your discription of Chicago was so fantastic that I feel like I have to go and see it all.
You saw Cirque du Soleil. Tsk, tsk, they are CANADIAN! It's a fabulous troupe of acrobats and they give a great performance.
And you talked about walking the mile of shoppes. Was it really only walking? No shopping at all?
Did you contacted Mr. Wonderful already?
Keep me posted?
Did I tell you that I'm glad you're back and that I missed you? :rose:

Marmalade 07-20-01, 04:30 AM ooooh...new man, wonderful trip away, and still with the walking!!! This sounds like a really great time for you Deb :rose: :rose: . Keep up the excellent work and let us know what is happening in the land of romance :o .
Cheers,
Hi Debbi,
Well, you have really got it going on don't you? New guy, trips, shopping. You'll have to let everyone know how the new love interest goes.LOL!
Congratulations on staying with the walking & exercise when you were gone. Baylee
Halfpint 07-20-01, 08:08 PM Hi everyone...I weighed today..no gain no loss over the trip..I am pleased with that...I walked this morning 3.7 miles and have been drinking my water.
Breakfast--bowl of crispix and a bagel
Lunch--handful of pretzels and a yogurt
Dinner--boca burger on bun, can of soup
it is really good to be home and eating in my house...fixing what I want to eat...<smile>
Lindasue 07-20-01, 09:36 PM Hi. Wow 3.7 miles. That is so awesome. Makes you feel great, doesnt it? And a new man and a trip coming up again doesnt hurt either. I need a vacation too. I know you will enjoy N. Virginia. We go down there on occasion. WHile you are there my big sis will be here. That is causing me great stress right now. I'm not going to let it hurt me though.
Have a great trip!
Love Linda
:x
Oh yeah, I can tell you're busy catching up with everything that happened at DT while you were gone.
Reading everything will take you at least 3 days, I bet.
Roly is feeling good, actually he felt better already after he had the good cry and then fell asleep for 2 hrs. He's tough!!
Have a great day tomorrow!! :rose:

Halfpint 07-21-01, 07:28 PM Hi everyone..today I walked my 3.7 miles..saw my first creature as I walked..I was close to a cornfield and out ran a deer..well being the country girl I am I knew that where there is one there are more..so I stopped walking...motioned to the oncoming car to stop too...waited a few minutes and kept hearing the deer in the cornfield but it didn't come out..the driver of the oncoming car was a park ranger for the lake close to me..he said he saw a huge buck turn around and run back the other direction..wow..I am glad..he could have hurt me if he ran into me....I was surprised to see the deer since I walked a little later today. They are normally well hidden by 7...
Breakfast...bowl of crispix
Lunch--stirfry veggies(no added oil) on white rice
Snack--fatfree cottage cheese with blueberries..and pretzels
Dinner--boca sausage..grilled veggies..fatfree/sugarfree chocolate pudding
Drinking my water and trying to get my body back on track
Lindasue 07-21-01, 07:52 PM Deer are beautiful but dangerous. Around here, with all the development, it is pushing a rather huge deer population into smaller and smaller habitats. Because of that it is common to see deer out during the daytime. Not good. ALso have had a few acually run through peoples glass sliding doors and trample through a house or two. ANd these people wanted to build on the outskirts of town. That would be scary.
Thank for the kind words in my journal. I'm just afraid that ive become so rigid in my eating that I can't enjoy anything that is not strictly on my list. That could probably do damage to my plan. I still agree though. I cant even take a bite, or Im gone for good.
Have a great Sunday.
Love Linda

Hello Debbi,
I had a run-in with a deer, twice. Both times while I was driving. The first one I hit right on. There were two of them and one just jumped into my headlights. No way, I could stop anymore. We had to phone the forrester, who had to shoot it.
And I got paid for that. The forrester had taken it to a poulterer (?) and sold it to him and he paid me the money from that sale.
He said that that was legally mine. Strange isn't it.
The 2nd time I could avoid a hit but the car that passed me while I was slowing down, hit it.
Very sad happenings. Deer are such beautiful animals and in Holland there aren't that many deer living in the wild.
It seems that you are getting back on track. Will you be able to keep the walking going when you are at your sisters? And what about the eating?
My sister Fatemeh and her hubby are coming in Sept. and staying for about 3 weeks. That will be a hard time for me.
But that is still 8 weeks away so I'm not gonna worry about it yet.
Have a great Sunday! Are you meeting Mr. Wonderful? :rose:

Miss you! <IMG SRC="smilies/sigh.gif" border="0">
Halfpint 07-23-01, 07:00 PM Hi everyone..Sorry I was unable to post last night but.....I was visiting my sweet friend..he emailed and was online last night when I got online. Hey Halfpint!
I just wanted to stop by and say that you are doing great with your eating. You are a good friend too.
Love,
Lana
Lindasue 07-23-01, 09:49 PM Debbie, think of me as you pass over PA. Im sure you'll be flying over us. I'll be waving the SOS flag because my big sis will be coming from chicago to pop in here while you are away. She never liked my DH. Said he'd never amount ot anything.Yes, we struggle alot, especially financially, but we are OK. She will pick at him in subtle ways. She will not approve of where we live. So, im stresed too. I know they will only be here for a couple hours. The Harley Davidson factory and amusement parks are more important than family. We took last place on their list of places to visit. I would be surprised if they were aware of the history in Gettysburg. Sad but true.
Anyway, you have a stress free vacation. Enjoy your sis. I wll try to enjoy mine, and I will not let her sway my in my eating. She is supposed to be on WW again. We will see.
Take care and be safe.
Love Linda

Nothing better than a bit of romance.
Hope you will have a grand old time at your sisters. :rose:

Halfpint 07-24-01, 08:02 AM Good morning friends..I have walked my 3.7 miles and had breakfast..packed and am waiting on my ride to the airport.
Linda--I will be waving as we pass over PA..my flight is going to Detroit first and then down..coming home stopping in Cleveland and then down..my sweet man lives in Cleveland so he may bop over and sit with me while I wait for my connecting flight to Columbus.. Then he is driving down to see me..He may just head on down to the house since we should arrive about the same time that way. Keep your chin up while your sister visits. As long as you and your DH are happy and love each other she should be happy. You are a wonderful woman and a great wife and mother...Keep up the good work.
Noenoe...take care while I am gone my friend..
Sugaree--keep Tony away from Bad Kitty...he can be a pest I hear
Bad Kitty----have a great week my friend..we will have to get together and chat once I am back home..
Take care everyone..see you Sunday for sure..and probably a couple times during the week.

Hey Debbi, where are the blueberries today?
You know, I've found out your secret. I know why you eat all these blueberries.
Today I received a stack of brochures from Prevention magazine. And one of them is called: The Miracle Berry That Keeps You Young!
Now guess what berry they are talking about?
You wanted to and I quote "stop aging, live longer and keep your mind sharp".
These are the facts!
How long do you have to work in the classroom and when does school start in Ohio?
Julian goes back on Sept. 4.
Have a great day tomorrow, Debbi! :rose:
Noenoe
Lindasue 08-01-01, 08:29 AM Debbbi-Everyone deserves happiness. I guess I hit a nerve with that topic becaues I got some very emotional responses through Email. I have been just going through the motions. My husband called it being "settled." How about you. You,ve just come back from a couple trips, are settling in to the before school routine and according to some posts here have had a little detour with your sweetie. Id be wary if he came around again too soon. I know it sounds cynical. Friendship is important.
Are you looking forward to the classroom? I have a good friend (sarahs teacher for 2nd grade) and she gets so excited and energized when it is time to set up for the new year. You know what, I love the classroom and go in every chance I get to help. I worked with reading recovery last year for awhile. That was an eye opener to learn that parents dont always read with their kids. I just assumed...When James gets to school I am going to try to work at the schoool.
More later. Keep up your great eating. I love those blueberries too.
Love Linda
Halfpint 08-01-01, 07:49 PM Hi everyone...It is August 1....the day I live for all summer..the day I go to my classroom and begin working. LOL..actually I cheated this year and went in on Monday..I had an all day science workshop today so I knew I wouldnt get to go into class....
I walked early this morning due to the heat. It was 70 at 5:00 and I was sweating like a pig when I finished my walk.
Breakfast--bowl of cheerios and a banana
Lunch--chicken breast with rice
Dinner--reduced fat mac and cheese..tossed salad
snacks--pretzels..cottage cheese with blueberries
I hope those berries are making me young LOLOL as long as I don't shrink...hehehe...
Take care...
They didn't mention anything about shrinking but you never know. Better be careful!
What class are you teaching this year?
Jay is already going to grade 2. He is looking forward to it. He misses his friends and (this are his words) he wants to get smart.
Have a great day tomorrow Debbi. :rose:
Noenoe
Halfpint 08-01-01, 09:21 PM Noenoe...I teach second grade.. they are at such a good age. I went to the teacher store on Monday and spent way way way too much money on things for my room. Oh well...I do it every year..I love getting things for my room. new things..I will be ordering some stuff online tomorrow from a company that sells some really cool things...<g> I will go to my room again on Friday and work some..maybe go in this weekend also.. want to get a good start on things so I can make some new games..centers .etc.... I hope your little one loves second grade this year...it is such a wonderful year...
Lindasue 08-02-01, 08:40 AM I want to come to your room, pleeeeeeaase? I think you must be a great teachr to put all hte effort into decorations and new things. And it comes from your money, right? I know you probably get somewha of a fund from the PTA or whatever organization, right?
What I ddi last year was put together a "care pkg" for sarahs teacher with neat stickers and certificates and cool stuff and holiday stuff that she probably wouldnt be able to get because of money restictions. Just some little extra fun stuff. I spent half of last year helping with bulletin boards and projects for the 2nd grade. I sometimes wonder if I should have become a teacher...
Take care,
Love Linda
:rose: :rose: :rose:
Halfpint 08-02-01, 07:11 PM Hi everyone..hope you all had a great day. Linda...I do get some money from the PTO but..that is usually spent within a few weeks of school starting. I have alreay probably overspent what they will be giving us. The best part of teaching is being around the kids. It helps make up for not having any of my own. I love to make it special for them..You can be a student in my class anyday my friend. <smile>
Today..I walked 3.7 miles..the pace was way off today due to the train I had to wait for so I could continue my walk. I cross the track at the edge of my town. I could hear it in the distance as I was walking back towards my house...this is the first time I have had to wait on the train so I think that is pretty lucky.
Breakfast--bowl of cheerios with banana
Lunch---no lunch today..only snacked on pretzels
Dinner--boca burger on bun..tomato soup, cottage cheese and blueberries
Do you think it is the same everywhere?
The teachers at Jay's school also get very little money to spend on classroom stuff.
Always give giftcert. from the teachers store on the special occasions during the year.
I could never be a teacher; no patience. Really admire the people that do! E.g. YOU!I'm glad I can handle my own 2; would panic with 26 and up. In Jay's JK class there were 32 kids. And no teachers assistant...
But I do volunteer with school outings and I'm involved with the Early Literacy program. Maybe I can do some more when Roland goes to school next year!
Now, for this is your journal, I'm going to wish you a great day tomorrow!
Don't mow the lawn. It can wait! Just lay on the couch with your feet up and eat some of those blueberries. :rose:
Noenoe
Halfpint 08-03-01, 08:19 PM Hi everyone...Noenoe..I have taught K, 2, 3, 4. I have taught 2nd the longest. I can't think of anything else that I would rather do than teach. Someday though I will plan my second career. I will still be fairly young when I can retire. LOL
Today I walked 3.7 miles and mowed the lawn.
I have been drinking plenty of water because it was very sticky even though the temp was a little lower today.
Breakfast--bowl of cheerios with banana
Lunch--cottage cheese and blueberries
Dinner--still waiting ..
Have you thought about what you want to do for a second career? Are you a crafty person?
Have you ever considered that you might not be eating enough? Not eating enough will stop your weight loss. Thinlynn just increased her calories and started eating 2 snacks besides her 3 meals. To get rid of her last 10 lbs. Maybe that is something you could try?!
Have a good weekend! Anything planned? :rose:
Noenoe
Halfpint 08-04-01, 08:17 PM Hi friends....Noenoe..I never thought that I wasn't eating enough. I feel like I am eating too much lately but maybe I am not.
Today I had a really good experience at my cousins. I had never been invited there and my cousin called me today and invited me over for dinner. I was hesitant but I went anyway. I took some housewarming gifts and had a delicious meal with them. They want me to visit more often since we only live 5 min apart.
I walked on the treadmill today for 45 min with an incline. I woke up a little later and decided it was too hot to walk outside.
Breakfast--bowl of cheerios with blueberries
Lunch--cottage cheese with blueberries
Dinner--salmon, grilled veggies, and rice pilaf
Lindasue 08-04-01, 09:30 PM Debbi- Your days sounds great. Funny, we almost ate the exact same things. Blueberries are in season here. I think.
Check your PM's,OK?
Love Linda
Halfpint 08-04-01, 10:02 PM Hi again..
Noenoe..I am not a crafty person...spouse and I had an antique business together...he is keeping the business..I am keeping the house..so I could maybe start a new antique business ...will want to do something with people...I have always worked with kids in some way or another so I can't imagine not being around them
Linda--thank you so much my friend for the nice PM...you are a sweetie
Nice spending some time with family.
Antique's...., just selling or also fixing up? Going to garage sales, auctions and so on.....? Sounds very interesting!
Have yourself a beautiful Sunday! :rose:
Noenoe
hi debbi,
sounds like you are having a good weekend. i too wondered about whether you are eating enough. i couldnt have three meals with no snacks. i would be eating my arm off lol.
antiques sounds like a good second career. i think you sound like you are made to be around kids though. you have so much enthuiasm :)
have a great sunday!
hugs bell :)
Lindasue 08-05-01, 01:25 PM Debbi- You should just pick up and move to Gettysburg.lol..we have room for another antique dealer in town. You would love it around here if you love antiques. We have these huge shows 2x yearly with hundred of dealers plus the 20 or so shops in town here, and evrywhere else. I would love someone to shwo me the ropes of what to look for so if you ever get a chance, come on down.
Linda
Halfpint 08-05-01, 07:46 PM Hi everyone...hope you are all doing good today. I went to my classroom today and worked for a couple hours. Hanging border around the ugly window shades and putting up a new bulletin board. I will work there most days this week getting things ready.
Linda..I have been antiquing in Gettysburg and the surrounding area many times. There are some great places there. One of my favorite spots in PA is Adamstown. Lots of antique shops there. I have antiqued in most of PA many times. If I ever drive that way again I will make sure to stop and say hello.
Bell..I do need to do something with kids. I am really not sure what I will do but it will be kind related in some way.
Noenoe..spouse and I did antique shows, had a booth in an antique mall and sold online. It was so much fun meeting people and traveling. We would go every weekend to find goodies. I also hit yard sales, flea markets and the like to find bargains.
Today I walked my normal 3.7 miles before church.
Breakfast--grapenuts with blueberries
Lunch-lean cuisine meal and a banana
Snack--cottage cheese and blueberries and about a cup of dry cheerios
Dinner--boca burger on bun, potato salad and bing cherries
Hello, hello, Debbi-dear, (Don't you hate it when people call you dear? Unless it is a 100-year old little lady, then I don't mind!)
Grapenuts..... Totally forgot about those! I love them. The original crunchy ones and also the flakes. I'm putting them on my shopping list right away!
I see you've added a snack and it wasn't pretzels..! Great going! How did you like the cherries?
Have yourself a beautiful Monday! :rose:
Noenoe
Halfpint 08-05-01, 08:20 PM Hi Noenoe..the cheeries were delicious. I am trying to give up pretzels for the month of August and try new things instead. I am making some fatfree/sugarfree pudding tomorrow and will use dry cheerios if I need something crunchy.
I love reduced fat peanut butter on fatfree crackers..but...I was finding that I was unable to stop eating them..I would fix a few..then want more and more..sooo I stopped buying the peanut butter at the store. I really am craving the taste though so I may try it again to see if I can contro myself. If not..the jar will go right into the trash can like it did before.
I want to add more fruits to my diet so that my body is getting the nutrition it needs. I am sure I am not eating the right things all the time. I know once school starts I will h ave time for a little snack but not much. I don't want to eat pretzels daily but they are tasty.
Have a great night and a good Monday.
Halfpint 08-06-01, 07:32 PM Hi everyone..it was another scorcher in Ohio...I slept in again today till 7...so it was too hot to walk outside..I dressed and went to school first today and worked in my room until early afternoon. When I got home I did 45 min on the treadmill with a nice incline. Was sweating like a pig...was very hot in the house even with the air on.
Breakfast--bowl of grapenuts and blueberries, banana
Lunch--lean cuisine and banana 1 oreo cookie with the fudge center..I love oreos and a friend had some..so I tasted 1...that was an amazing feat..wanted lots more but settled for 1

hope the heat eases up for you soon.
hugs bell :)
I'm almost scared to show my face here. Haven't been here much the last few days.
Do I have to go to the principal-office now?
Size 10 and 12, man those numbers sound so good to me. That's what I'm aiming for!
I don't think I need to go any smaller than that but who knows, once I'm there I might decide differently.
You must look super slim in those pants.
And what did I see there on the menu? I had to rub my eyes and look twice. Grilled veggies....?
You are right increasing your fruit and veggies though. I think you are on the low, sometimes non-existent, side. If I'm right it is 5-6 serv./day according to the pyramide.
Well my friend, I hope I'm forgiven!
Have a fun day tomorrow! :rose:
Noenoe
Halfpint 08-08-01, 07:05 PM Hi friends...noenoe..of course you are forgiven my friend..<g>
Today I did not walk..which made me feel pretty guilty but the heat was just too intense. For some reason I am sleeping later in the mornings (7-7:30) and by then it is too hot to walk outside. I was going to walk on the treadmill when I got home from school today but it was too hot to do that. Tomorrow I will walk no matter what the temp...
Breakfast--bowl of grapenuts with blueberries
Lunch--cottage cheese with blueberries, fat free pudding
Dinner--tomato soup
Snack--cheerios (dry), two flour tortillas with low fat cheese
I need to get to the grocery soon..I am out of blueberries as of tomorrow morning..YIKES...need some fruit and veggies...no pretzels though..I am trying not to eat them this month..although I want them badly
Can't live without those blueberries.
We have a farm close by where you can pick them yourself. Only in the month of August. It's in the plan to go there on the weekend.
You know, it's the heat that makes you all sleepy and that makes it difficult to get out of bed.
Have a great day tomorrow! :rose:

It's not too difficult for you to get your fix! And not too expensive either!!
HAPPY 2-POUNDS LOST DAY DEBBI
What an excellent result. It must be because of the grilled veggies you had this week!
Now run to the market and get some of them berries before they're gone.
You go girl! :x

daisy526 08-10-01, 05:59 PM Hi Halfpint!
I just wanted to stop in and tell you that you are and have done a great job on your weight loss endeavor! Congratulations on ending your plateau and losing those 2 pounds! What do you think you've done differently?
I've read through most of your journal and I have to admit that I ran out to the store and bought cottage cheese and blueberries! I've never had cottage cheese so I was afraid of it at first. Now I think I might be addicted! I mix some strawberries in it, too. Yumm!
Well, keep up the great work!

I am so proud of you and your accomplishments. I'll tell you, those blueberries must have some effect on the body because when there is a week when I eat alot of them I always lose more weight. They are so great. My kids like them frozen.

You sat in the driveway?
How's the class coming along? Almost done with the preparations?
School certainly starts early in Ohio.
Is it still too hot to walk outside or are you already on winter schedule?
Have a beautiful Wednesday! :rose:

Hi Debbi...wow...60 pounds lost!!! That is terrific progress. I'll bet the staff at the school are going to be surprised when they see you in September. You should be a diet consultant in your spare time, because you are going to be asked how you have done it! Congrats on the size 10 and 12s, too. I am close to my goal and having a hard time losing the rest.
Weeks of non-ending sunshine and that day it pours...! But you had a good time anyway!
I missed that, that you did the Tae-Bo tape. Did you just buy that tape or was it laying around somewhere gathering dust? Do you like it, even though your legs hurt now?
Have a great Thursday Debbi!

patricians2001 08-16-01, 02:17 PM Wow,
You are going great. Did you lose all 60 pounds after you came on this site in May?You
are really focused on the exercise part of the equation. I think this is the key to your success. I take it from our sign-in name that you are short. So the sixty pounds must make a huge difference.
I am short and a teacher also. The funny thing is I had my enlightening moment in Ohio that i had to do something about my weight. Actually I've been on every plan known to woman kind, with no long term results. But I was at a conference in Columbus in Feb. (No points for guessing which kind.) The weather was horrendous along the Eastern seaboard so we had an awful time getting there. My friend got bumped from her flight and seperated from her luggage. Air Canada gave her a credit to pick up something to tide her over and it was in AMERICIAN DOLLARS!! So we were in this beautiful department store and she has the busks and she's checking out the wonderful stuff in the petit department and although I'm the same height as her I had to do to the extreme other end of the store and check out the 2x stuff. So I promised myself that by the next conference I had to go to with the same group of people I would be out of plus sizes. That was in Vancouver this summer and I had gone from 200 to 175. I went down to size 14. But I still didn't buy anything because the next time I go, Jan. I want to be down at least that much again. So the wonderful solection of petite clothes in Ohio inspired me. I seem to be doing OK on the food part, it's the exercise part I need to boost up. I walk about 45 minutes every day, but when I see your journal and Linda's from Alberta, I see I'm not really pushing it to increase the speed of my weight loss. But I can't get up at 5 am! Best of luck with the new school year. Those first few days make us excited and a bit apprehensive, even though I've been doing it for thirty years!

Lindasue 08-17-01, 08:08 AM Debbi-Sorry for ging MIA. I am back now. I have no excuses. I just didnt come online. I think I will be OK. Just thinking about all kinds of stuff. THis is the last day of babysitting. I am relieved. I think that the kids are ready for it to be over too but will have a hard time adjusting to no playmates around. Even if they fight all day, they still ask when they will be back again.
As always, you are a rock. You are doing everyting right and exercising and eating well and being a great teacher. All the teachers here are happily buzzing around the schools. Popped in to pay a visit and theya re so busy getting the classrooms ready for the new year. They are all giggly. I imaging that your situation is nearly the same.
More later.
Love Linda
Yes, I had a great night sleep and I'm planning on a super day today! How about you?
I'm getting 2 of Julian's friends for a sleepover. Must be fun! :rose:

Has your treadmill been working okay lately, since the last repair? What brand do you have, Debbi? I still haven't decided yes or no treadmill. And time is running out because next week the sale is over. Aaaargh!, the pressure!
Hope wonderful things will happen for you this weekend. Have fun! :rose:
