walkerps 06-01-01, 01:01 AM I have had a weight problem my whole life and then a few years ago I had to start taking some medication and I have gained 60 pounds in 3 years. I'm not really sure how it happened it just kinda creeped up on me. I had a lot of reasons for wanting to go on a diet number one reason is because I have a 11 year old boy who is also overweight and it breaks my heart everytime he comes home from school and tells me about other kids making fun of him cause I know how he feels cause I went through the same thing as a child. I want to be able to set a good example for him and show him how eating right and exercise can help him lose weight.
Another reason is my health, I know that it's not healthly for me to be like this.A few weeks ago I got some pictures developed and there were some of me and I couldn't believe how I looked. 257 pounds (and I'm only 5'3) it was my highest weight ever. I decided that day that I had to lose some weight some Now. Of course since that day I have been driving my self crazy. I feel really good, I have been eating right and exercising and I feel like I can really lose this weight but I get up everyday and weight myself and I know that I shouldn't do that. It's been almost 4 week since I started my diet and today when I got on the scale it said 240. I think I'm doing ok so far but I know that alot of that was water weight so now comes the hard part. I don't have a absolute goal yet somewhere around 130 or 140 would be good. I think coming to DT is going to help me alot, just having somewhere to go where there are people who understand. I'm not very good at wrting so I don't know if I will keep up the journal or not. I guess we'll see.

walkerps 06-01-01, 10:03 PM I did ok today but I didn't eat breakfast, that is a meal that for some reason I seem to skip alot. I did eat right for the rest of the day though and I got some exercise in so all in all it was a pretty good day. I'm still feeling really good and I have already almost reached my first goal which was to lose 20 pounds. I'm getting close so that makes me excited. After that I'll start on the next 20 pounds.

inspired_0135 06-01-01, 10:16 PM Hi Gina,
Congratulations on losing 20 pounds! Keep up the good work, it will be hard but you can do it! Welcome to Diet Talk :) Jerry
walkerps 06-02-01, 09:51 PM I had a ruff day today. I wanted to eat all day but I didn't instead I went for a walk, worked in my garden and I scrubbed the floor in my kitchen on my hands and knees. Now it is after dinner time and I think I'm going to make it through the day without pigging out on anything. So at least that's a good thing.

walkerps 06-03-01, 11:57 PM I did good today. I ate well and I went for a walk and worked in my garden for a while. I'm still feeling really good about my diet. I hope that I will keep up this same motivation cause I don't want to start feeling all down and depressed. That would be awful. Everyday that goes by that I can stay on this diet is a good day. So far I have had 4 weeks of good days.

walkerps 06-05-01, 12:36 AM Today was another good day, at least as far as the diet goes. I'm going to have to find something to do with these kids during summer vacation though I can tell that already. With them around here today I didn't hardly have time to get in my exercise I guess I'm just used to them being at school. Anyway I did get my exercise in and I ate well today so it was a good day.

walkerps 06-06-01, 01:37 AM Well I have had another good day, very busy but good. I have company coming so I'm busy getting ready for them. I didn't get to exercise today but I did so many other things I probably made up for it anyway. I also didn't eat very well today either, not because I ate to much but because I didn't eat enough. Now it is really late and I'm hungry but I don't want to eat this late. What to do.

Angluvmrcy 06-06-01, 02:01 AM Gina,
Congratulations on your success so far!!!
I am not sure as to the type of program you are following, but as a lowfatter, I typically will just eat when I am hungry no matter what time of the day it is. I am a night shift worker, but each morning I go to bed with a belly full of Special K and it hasn't hurt me yet...in fact, while i was losing the first 125#, I ate right after work of a morning before bedtime. Just dont over do it...give your body enough to be satisfied but not stuffed. Maybe your body is trying to give you clues to help you along???
Much success,
Angl :rose:
hi gina,
sorry i havent stopped by sooner. there are so many journals here now i am having a hard time keeping up with everyone.
congratulations on making the steps towards health and happiness. i am sure that through your journey your whole family will benefit.
are you finding it any easier to have breakfast. i find if i have a good breakfast i am less likely to snack early in the day. good job on walking instead of eating.
i will keep checking in to see how you are doing. feel free to stop by my journal and say g'day.
hugs bell :)
walkerps 06-07-01, 11:10 AM Hey ya'll, Thanks for stopping by, I can use all the advise I can get. I'm making a real effort to eat breakfast and lunch like I should. Sometimes I don't always get around to it and I know that I should try to eat better. I at least always have a good lowfat dinner. I just have to work on the rest of the day. I did eat breakfast this morning so I'm off to a good start today.

1luckystar 06-07-01, 12:06 PM Hi walkerps!
I always found it hard to eat breakfest too! Then I started planning out in advance what I would have so that I already had the idea in my head. I try to keep easy things on hand so that I can just grab it and go if need be. Like yougurt, fruit, lowfat poptarts, and cereal. I feel so much better for it and find that I don't have that starving feeling by the time dinner comes.
Are you drinking plenty of water? That helps me a lot too.
Here is to another wonderful and healthy day!
Hi Walkerps,
Boy, you are doing great with your weight-loss.
I also had problems with eating breakfast but I now just eat it a little later. Around 9 or 10 0'clock.
Some people say it is better to eat about 6 small meals a day and eat when you're hungry and not when the clock says it's time to eat.
You have to watch not eating enough food; my personal experience is that you don't lose weight that way.
So keep at it and you will succeed.

walkerps 06-08-01, 12:41 AM Hi to everyone and thanks for the breakfast tips. I'm trying to fit it in someway. Today was a ok day. As far as the diet goes I did fine but I wasn't in a very good mood today so I didn't get much done. I didn't even exercise today, I just didn't feel like it. I'm sure I will feel better tomorrow or at least I hope I do I don't like being in a bad mood.
Gina :x

walkerps 06-09-01, 01:24 AM Yes noenoe I was feeling better today. So much better as a matter of fact I ran right out and had Pizza for dinner :c( That's right I fell off the wagon tonight. Now I feel bad again. Well tomorrow is a new day I will just have to walk a couple of extra miles or something. No big deal it's only one day. Tomorrow I will do better.

This day is what we have. Make it a masterpiece.
Hey, pizza is not that bad. Almost all foodgroups are in it. Unless you ate the whole thing by yourself! :)
Just do what you're doing, pick yourself up and start all over. That's the right attitude. Believe in YOU!

walkerps 06-10-01, 12:16 AM Today was a much better day I ate good today and even though I was very busy I went for a short walk. It would have been longer but it was raining all day here today. That's good though we really need the rain. I think that soon I'm going to start posting what I eat so that maybe I can get some advice on were I can do better with that. Good night I'm going to bed.

walkerps 06-11-01, 11:34 PM Hello all, Well I have to say that I'm fairly proud of myself, even though I have had company for the last few days I have pretty much stayed on my diet and even though I have not got to do as much exercise as I usually do I have been doing some everyday. I have been really busy and on top of that it has been raining here like everyday. I haven't even hardly had time to hope on the computer and check up on my favorite place which is DT of course. Well hopefully I will have time to check in tomorrow and see what's up.
Gina :x
hi gina,
congrats on being able to stay on track even with company with you. thats a tough order thats for sure. and good job on getting some exercise in there too.
you are doing great gina, keep it up!
hugs bell :)
walkerps 06-13-01, 12:08 AM Well it was a good day for me as far as food and exercise go. I'm really tired now though cause like I said before I have company and we were out all day long. I guess next week after my company leaves it will be a better time for me to start logging down what I have eaten during the day in here. It will be easier for me then. Well have a good night all.
Gina ;)
I know from experience how hard it is to keep your schedule going when you have company staying at your house.
Seems that it doesn't bother you too much!
Keep it up girl. You can do it!
Looking forward to your food postings.

walkerps 06-15-01, 12:30 AM Well I'm feeling pretty good today as some of you may already know today I have been on my diet for one month and I feel pretty happy about that. Usually I just go on a diet for a week or two and I'll have one bad day and then I just give up. Not this time though, this time I'm sticking to it. This time I'm going all the way with the help of all of you here at DT and the fact that I'm eating healthy and exercising. I think that it has helped that I have pretty much kept a positive attitude through out the last month. I am actually looking forward to this coming month just to see how I can do. I don't know if I will lose anything for the next month (of course I hope I do) but as long as I don't gain I will be happy.
Gina ;)
