Hi everyone! I have missed you all so much. I could come up with a million reasons for why I disappeared for a while but the real one is that I got tired of it all. Not tired of all of you, but tired of the whole diet thing and I lost my determination. I have put just a little weight back on since I stopped coming to DT but I will still be finishing 2001 more than 10lbs lighter than I was when I started it. Thats a pretty great achievement I think and so I thought with the new year starting tomorrow, why not take advantage of new beginnings and get back on the DT bandwagon. Why not add to my achievement? After all 2002 is going to go by whether I do something about my weight or not. I feel like I have wasted so much of my young life by being overweight. I didnt even go to my formal in my final year of high school because i would have had to have got a dress made to fit me - have you ever noticed that all they sell in stores anymore are size 6 scraps of material? So 2002 is not going to be about wasting time and putting things off, its going to be about living. Thats my new years resolution. I vow to finish 2002 having lived up to that resolution and if not at, then very close to, my goal weight of 130 lb. I will be following the same plan as last time, which is basically no plan except for eating healthily and getting my exercise and drinking lots of water (or in my case diluted fruit juice hahaha). And I WILL succeed!

Jo!

It's great to see you again!

Congrats on keeping off 10 lbs! It is wonderful to be able to resume your journey 10 lbs closer to goal than when you started.

I had also disappeared for awhile, but I guess we know to come back because we understand how much good this place does for us.

Again, welcome back!
Christine

Thanks Christine and Angie for your posts, its so nice to see you both again. Happy New Year to you and to everyone else.

Chris - I didnt realise you disappeared for a while too. Well done to both of us for getting back into it.

Angie - Love the new DT look. What are UBB codes?

I had a nice New Year's Eve last night. Just a few quiet champagnes with Kim and then we watched some movies and the New Years celebrations on TV and then went outside to see the fireworks. There are wonderful fireworks displays in the city but where I live there is always someone letting off their own fireworks on special occasions so thats what we were watching. Anyway we ended up falling asleep in front of a movie and woke just after 4am and then Kim went home. She drove because she hadnt been drinking by the way! Anyway so I slept late today and then got up all ready for my first healthy day. It was too late for breakfast when i got up I'm sorry to say haha so this is my menu:
Lunch: Grilled tuna burger (tuna and mashed potato no butter) on white bread with a slice of light cheese and a tsp of wholegrain mustard.
Dinner: Spinach pasta with a tomato and chargrilled vegetable sauce.
Drinks: diluted fruit juice

We have Aaron over until thursday night so I havent been able to do my Richard video yet but I will do that when Aaron goes to bed which will be very shortly. I got so many great cds for xmas as well so I will put one on and ride the exercise bike for a bit as well.

See you all tomorrow. love Jo
PS. Just wanted to tell you that it feels great to be back on the right road again. last time when i started I was hungry and the days dragged for the first week. It is only the first day but I feel excellent. Happy!

Rainbow! So good to see your smiling face again! What a great way to start the year with you coming back here to DT. And you're starting the year 10 pounds closer to your goal! Can't wait to watch you work your way down the scale to your goal. Bad Kitty its great to see you again. This is one of the nicest things about being back at DT - running into all my old friends again I'll have to check up in your journal and see how youre going

Had a pretty busy day today - went to work which actually was pretty quiet being just after xmas and everything, but then i went home and Aaron certainly does his best to liven things up I can tell you! My mum and I have told him that tomorrow we will take him to the zoo if the weather is nice. Even though it is summer here winter is doing its best to stay as long as possible and we have had had rain and cold weather in amongst our sunshine. If the weather isnt nice we have told him that he can choose another place to go but he said he cant think of anywhere else, he just wants to go to the zoo! hahaha

I had a great day health wise although it was VERY hard to enjoy grilled fish and veggies when everyone else is having hot dogs! But I got through it!

I'll end my post their because im off to bed now and to read some of my book that Audry from work lent me but as yet I havent opened I'll probably be asleep before I read a page though hahaha

Love Jo

Good morning Rainbow...the grilled fish sounds so good! Even though we have snow here you'll often see me out there, with the flakes falling all around me, grilling up shark or swordfish. It just doesn't taste the same in a frying pan! LOL
You'll have a hard time finding my journal...it's way back there somewhere..guess I should unearth if for the new year, huh?
have a fab day & TTY soon!

Jo~Jo, UBB codes are the codes underneath the box you write your message in.
They are the codes where you can liven things up with.
Change colours,size,
even make things glow.

You can flip things over,

vertical,
all the fun things.

Good to read that you are doing so well already on your diet. Grilled fish sounds yummy to me, I'm not a fan of hotdogs either. Veggie dogs are okay to eat. Have you tried those?
So there are fireworks in Oz with New Years. How come you didn't buy any? You could have burned some sparklers.
My Dad always bought the biggest and loudest bangers he could get. And after igniting them, he would throw them in a oil drum. Just to heighten the effect. The windows were shaking in their frames. There were no bad spirits entering our house, for sure!
Hope your day today is a happy one. It must be with Aaron around.

Love, Angie

Hi everyone. Thankyou to Angie, John, Bad Kitty and Bell for your posts They really help me greatly in keeping positive and happy. When I have friends like you guys who couldnt be positive and happy?

John - Thanks for the post, I was really surprised and pleased to hear from you I mean its not every day you get a post from Mr Administrator Extraordinaire hehehe Seriously, congratulations on the great job you do here at DT. Its greatly appreciated by all of us. And no I don't know what they put in hot dogs - tell me!

Angie - Thankyou, I'm having a nice day although Audry from work called and asked me to come in at 4 until 9 and I said yes unfortuneately. I have had an absolute ball working there but suddenly I can't wait to finish. I love all the people there and I love the job but I am beginning to see why they dont need me to stay on now that xmas is over. It is quiet as quiet can be and Anne the manager is trying to be nice and keep me on this extra week. It's nice of her because she knows how much I loved it and that I dont have another job to go to but in reality I wish she would have just made me finish when the other 3 girls did. There is no point in me being there. There are no jobs to do, hardly any customers to serve and in truth I am starting to dread going in because of the boredom. I guess dread is too strong a word because I do love everyone there. But unfortuneately there is just nothing to do so the hours drag. Oh well. Last shift on Saturday. Don't get me wrong it is just the fact that there is nothing to do that is changing my mind about the job. It is just driving me crazy sitting around day after day. If only it was still busy or just moderately busy and there were things to do still, I would still be loving it.
Thanks for the explanation of those codes and unfortuneately I AM a fan of hot dogs lol.

Bell, How are you going? Thankyou for the nice welcome back, it's good to be back! And I hope things are going well up there in sunny QLD. I'll have to catch up with you in your journal.

Bad kitty, That's what happened to my old journal, it got buried somewhere way way back on the forum board and then disappeared! Thats why I had to start a new one

Menu for today:

Breakfast: vegemite toast no butter and a slice of pineapple.
Lunch: Grilled smoked salmon, avacado, fat free cheese sandwich. See! Back to my old ways!
Snack: handful of taziki (how do you spell it?) rice crackers.
Dinner: I think on my break at work I'll go up and get a footlong subways turkey breast sub.

We didnt end up taking Aaron to the zoo today because as we feared it was freezing!! haha but he didn't care because my dad took him to the park where my sister and Ross got married and they fed the ducks in the lake there and then bought donuts. He had fun.

And last of all, it's my birthday in 17 days on the 20th of Jan woo hoo! I'll be 19. Gosh, next year I'll be 20 that sounds so old!

Love Jo

Every time when I read that you had your most favorite sandwich, I think I should try that one out too. Still didn't.
Too bad you don't enjoy work any more. It's probably because you know that it is coming to an end and the fact that it is so quiet.
Are you going to try to find something else for the next 2 months or is it now officially party~time?
Is Michelle picking Aaron up in the morning or do you still get some time to play with him?
Have a super-day tomorrow.

Now it depends on what brands you do purchase but lets just say that they use a lot of "parts" that you really wouldn't want to eat and there are a lot of preservatives in it.

Hi Jo,

Next year, you will be 20...sheesh...over the hill... It's funny, but ages never seem nearly as old once you get there.

I'm glad that you enjoyed your job and now that things are becoming boring, you will be leaving. That works out perfectly!

Have a great day!
Christine

Thankyou to John, Angie, BK, Joanne and Christine for your lovely posts.

Angie - You really must try my favourite sandwich it is beautiful and it feels like you are being very bad because it is so yummy but actually you are being good I still have smoked salmon left from yesterday so I have to eat that tomorrow before it spoils, what a pity Work was actually really good last night. It was just busy enough to have the time going quickly, but at the same time quiet enough to have fun. And then I had a great time at my shift today. I guess I don't hate my job, I must just hate doing nothing and I have exciting news about my job too for everyone.

John - Thankyou for the tip on hot dogs. Maybe the next time I see a hot dog I wont be so tempted lol. Not that I believe that! hahaha

Joanne - Great name! Low carb you say? Hmmmm

BK - Hahaha everybody says that about my age. They say that i come across as mature when I speak and the things i say so people assume I am much older. I have always gotten along with older people too better than people my own age.

Christine - Hahaha I guess the reason nothing seems that old once you get to that age, is because no one wants to think of themself as old!

Ok everyone here is my exciting news about work. Today Anne the manager rang me and asked me to come in at 11 instead of 12. So I did and went to start and she said, no dont start yet I have to have a chat to you, why don't we get a coffee. So my mind is racing wondering what is it about, thinking it must be something good, maybe they have found me a job at another store because if it was bad why would she be buying me coffee. Unfortunately I don't drink coffee and I couldnt get nothing because she was specifically taking me out for coffee, so I got a small hot chocolate and wasn't that happy about it, but there wasn't much I could do about it. So anyway we are drinking our drinks and Anne says she wants to keep me on. Not at another store, but at the store i have been training at. I am sooo happy! I was dreading looking for another job and thinking it would probably just mean more mistreatment and everything. Not like the nice people I have met at this job. So I get to stay on part time. Anne said she thought it over and decided they could do with a part timer because I will get about 12 a week but then when the full timers wants to go on holidays I am there to take extra hours. I am thrilled with that. And what a coincidence that I had had a great shift the night before to change my mind about me not liking the job anymore. So we get back and everyones all excited because we all became friends over xmas and now we dont have to say goodbye. And then they bought me a celebration donut and since it was bought especially for me I had to eat it and boy did I feel bad about it. But it was a nice thought they weren't to know. So those were the two blows to my diet today but I guess they were for a good cause. Needless to say I had another great shift today and am definitely back to loving my job. I guess it was just those quiet shifts all in a row that had got to me.

Menu:

Breakfast: very fast on the run - 2 weetbix with skinny milk.
Mid morning: hot chocolate and donut
Lunch: Half a footlong turkey breast subways
Dinner: the other half, and when i got home: a handful of rice crackers.
It wasn't a great menu today but it was an all day work day at the shop so thats why, but next time I'll be more organised and take my own dinner since we have a microwave at work. I can just make some pasta and reheat it and stuff.
By the way i had subways today because yesterday I changed my mind and didnt have subways for dinner. I ended up having a huge tuna salad sandwich from the sandwich bar upstairs from work.

Well thats all from me, I'll sign off now.
See you all tomorrow. Love Jo

Well I haven't got much to say today because I worked all day and have only just got home. Had a great day, it was really busy and everyone kept saying how pleased they were to have me. Also Anne ordered my business cards! Woo hoo I have business cards! That's how professional our store is. I feel so lucky to work there.

Menu:
Breakfast: Vegemite toast no butter
Lunch: Poppy seed roll with ham and hot english mustard.
I'm about to have a snack now and as I only ate small things all day I will make it a larger snack as I'm starving! I'll have some rice crackers and maybe a fruit roll up.
Dinner: I am going to have grilled skinless chicken with a tsp of mustard on top (try it for some extra low cal flavour) and a potato with fat free cheese and peas and corn.

Exercise is going good, I have been seeing Richard regularly and in my slimming magazine that i buy every month they have had monthly features on toning up a specific body area. So I alternate the exercises for toning stomach, bum and next month they are doing thighs. They are great easy exercises. Maybe I will get out my old Cher tape today for a change.

See you all tomorrow.
Love Jo

Hi everyone! Sorry for the delay in posting I had a busy weekend. Thanks Angie and Bell for your posts. Life is sweet! Guess who lost 4.5lbs this week? MEEEEEEE! I guess the first week you are on the diet you lose quite a bit don't you?
YAY I'm so happy! I am UNDER the weight where I left off on my eating plan last time. Only just but all the same, I'm still under hahaha.

Goals for the coming week are to exercise more.

Angie - Yes i got my new bathers and they are navy blue with red stripes up the side and red trim and a red butterfly on the front. We had really hot weather on sunday so I got to wear them for a swim and I think they look ok! I mean not wonderful but its an improvement. I didnt even wear a shirt over them hehehe.

Bell - The name of the jewellers is Hoskings and thanks so much for the congratulations wishes (that goes for both of you).

It's my day off tomorrow so after a pretty busy day at work today I'm looking forward to it. I'll love you and leave you. Love Jo

Just a quick post to say thanks Angie for the post. I certainly do remember Ashley Judd that image of her in her little pair of knickers and camisole in "Someone Like You" inspires me whenever I feel fed up with healthy eating hahaha.

I'm having a really nice today. I don't start work until 5 oclock so I'm having a nice relaxing leisurely day. I have been really good with my goal to exercise more. Yesterday I did my Richard Simmons tape and then I went in the pool and swam 25 laps and then I walked 25 laps. I figured walking in the water would be good exercise for my leg muscles. I think I'll go in the pool again today. Well see you all later

Here is Jo's post for today.:)

Hi,

I'm at Kim's house and I have just set up my email account on her computer to write you this because my computer has crashed. That's where I have been so don't worry I'm fine. My sisters brother in law is going to fix my computer hopefully sometime this week if he can. Unfortuneately I know nothing about computers so it has just been sitting here since it happened waiting for Glen to fix it hahaha. SO hopefully I will be back online soon.
Diet is going really well, I did a great job of getting through my birthday since so many people took me out to dinner.

Sorry this is so short, just letting you know where I have disappeared to

Take care,
