View Full Version : Gonna Do It This Time!!!
Boy, this is gonna take some courage. I've never confided in anyone about what I EAT. Course, being overweight is a dead give-away that it's too much! I really don't want to write this down, but may be the only way to stay accountable. First of all, I'm not a breakfast eater. I am just not hungry in the morning. I do drink about 3 cups of coffee (straight up) each morning. Today for lunch I had a nice big salad with plenty of dressing and a small piece of left over steak. Then I ate 1/4 of a BIG chocolate bar with almonds. It's gone now, so won't have to worry about looking at it any more. My son has candy left from Christmas and chocolate is my weakness. Will be glad when it's gone! If it's not in the house I have no problem. Drank 32 oz. of water this am and will drink another 32 oz. this afternoon, which is just right for me. I live on a farm and lift 5 gallon buckets of feed that weight 35# everyday. Gets my heart rate up, works my muscles, and I build up a good sweat. Quiet a workout for a woman. Am not doing any formal excersize at this time. Maybe I should. Anyway I started at 173 and have lost 6 lbs. since starting Jan. 2. I would love to get on the scale and see if any changes have happened since Wed., but I am going to make myself wait till next Wed. Fifteen years ago I lost weight and kept it off for 3 years, until I began eating because of stress. I reached my goal at that time by eating what my family does at meals, except normal portion sizes. I also eat more vegetables and lettuce salads with my meals to fill me up. Waiting for the day when friends see a change in my weight. That's a big motivation for anyone. Well, I'll be back tomorrow.
moovin&groovin! 01-12-02, 11:55 PM Hi Jode,<br />Good for you for starting a journal. Writing really has a way of relieving your mind so you can take care of your body. <img src="smile.gif" border="0"> It sounds like you get a major upper body workout every day. Do you have some good places to go for walks? 30 min every other day would probably help to burn some more calories. Anywho, nice to meet you and I look forward to hearing some more from you.<br />Hang in there,You Can Do It!<br />Michelle<br />ps...congrats on your 6 lbs loss!

Hi Jode,
Thanks for posting to me in the weight loss section. Congratulations on your weight loss.
Welcome to this area. I find a journal is helping me.
As you know, I do portion control too. All that weighing and measuring of food and looking things up in the books, that WW does drives me crazy. I'm not putting WW down because it works for many people. I just find that doing all that makes me think about food even more. I add lots of veggies and fruit to my meals.
It sounds like you are getting lots of weight lifting in by all your farm work. I would recomend other types of exercise for variety. Maybe a walk or an aerobic video.
I have re-gained some of my lost weight too. I know we can do this and make it to our goal and stay there.
ChinaDoll_888 01-14-02, 09:15 AM Welcome to DT! I joined in Nov and have found a lot of people encouraging me! I too, used to eat a lot, like eating 2 dinners in one sitting! Now, I eat ½ or ¾ of a serving ... it was hard in the begining but I just went 'cold turkey' and refused all sweets and candies. Drank tons of water and ate fruits as snacks. It's hard in the begining but just remember what you used to eat before you put on weight ... give yourself another 2 weeks and someone will definitely noticed! Stay strong! <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0">
Thanks, Moovin',Pastel, & China for the words of encouragement. I know you're right when you suggest walking. I live in the country, so there's lots of places I can walk! Today it's snowing a little, cold, and windy...the next warm day I'll be out the door for that walk! Didn't make it here yesterday. Need to wait till the days over to post what I ate, and got home late last night. I had a huge lettuce salad with a couple slices of montorey jack cheese, croutons, and plenty of blue cheese dressing. (Regular, not low fat) Had 3/4 of a beefburger and 1/2 lemon bar for supper. Was singing with my trio for a benefit last evening and was too nervous to eat, really. Skipped the baked beans completely. Had a kool-aid to drink. Evening snack was a bag (the WHOLE bag) of butter flavor microwave popcorn and a RC cola.(Regular) Then got into some filber nuts and almonds...the ones you have to crack open. Also left from Christmas. And 2 small pieces of chocolate. I forgot I was going to write this all down. I might have skipped the nuts and candy. Anyway, I eat normal food, drink normal pop, and eat what I want. Not exactly healthy, but I can live with it. Will be posting again tomorrow what I eat today. Maybe it will be a little healthier. I know about what I can eat a day and still lose...but I'm not going to give up the foods I like. If I do that, I know I'll fail. <img src="rolleyes.gif" border="0">
I had a really good day yesterday. I don't want people to freak when they see what I ate, but I am not on a "diet". I'm eating the way normal people eat...I know I can live with that. I'm not a breakfast eater, but had 3 cups of coffee. That's pretty much an everyday thing. Hubby wanted me to ride to town with him and drive thru burger king. Had a whopper jr. with cheese, (ate all of that) 1/2 order of fries, and a coke. (regular, not diet) For supper had a normal piece of cube steak (they say a piece as big as the palm of your hand) and it had mushroom soup on it. Also a half baked potato with sour creme and butter, and probably 1 cup or more of green beans. Now some people may think that isn't enough food for a day, but if I'm not hungry and satisfied, that should be enough. And some make think that the choices were bad, but I live in a real world. I'm going to eat like the thin people I know do. They eat like everyone else....just a thin person amount. I haven't started any formal exercise yet, but will start walking when the weather warms up. Haven't felt motivated to do any of my exercise tapes yet. Maybe I will later... <img src="rolleyes.gif" border="0"> I get a really good workout everyday just doing chores. Tomorrow is weigh day, and I am kinda looking forward to it....and kinda not. I know I haven't overdone on my eating, but I don't want to get frustrated if I don't see a big drop...I'm talking like a couple lbs. We live in an instant gratification world and its hard not to be that way about weight loss. Well, I'll be back tomorrow. Have a great day!
Another yr. older yesterday and 3 lbs. lighter today. I like that trade! Yesterday I had a whole bag of microwave butter flavored popcorn, 2 pieces of frozen sausage-pepperoni pizza and 2 cans RC cola. Not a very healthy eating day at all. Some of you are probably thinking, wow, she doesn't eat right...and sometimes I don't. I eat what I am hungry for and just eat less of it. I also really move whenever I do anything, whether housework of chores. Hubby has always said I go at everything like I'm killing snakes! <img src="graemlins/laugh.gif" border="0" alt="[laugh]" /> <br />It's just my personality...but it helps burn calories too. Hate to think where I may have been weight wise if I didn't work like that. I haven't been doing any type of exercise. Well, not formal....tapes, etc. I'm planning on making a pot of chili for supper. It is cold here in Iowa again. Has been like spring here for most of the winter.(weird!) Good Wednesday all!<br />ps. I'm going to eat HEALTHIER today!
Day 15 and still going. Actually am feeling better energy wise now. That's GOOD!<br />3 cups of coffee, 1/2 peanut butter sandwich, 12 oz. 2% milk, bowl of chili, lettuce sandwich with butter, 12 oz. 2% milk, diet coke, and 3 qts. water. Was a good day. Even did a few push-ups and sits-ups. Nice to have energy again. <img src="graemlins/laugh.gif" border="0" alt="[laugh]" />
Hey snake Killer <img src="graemlins/laugh.gif" border="0" alt="[laugh]" /> <img src="graemlins/laugh.gif" border="0" alt="[laugh]" />
Way to go with the weight loss. Happy Belated Birthday to you.
I can't do push ups but will join you doing crunches.
ChinaDoll_888 01-17-02, 10:38 AM Sounds like your daily chores can equal any workout ... I bet if you really watch what you eat, you would lose the weight faster! Best wishes!
maximum 01-17-02, 05:25 PM Hey You! Thanks for posting in my journal it always helps having support. OK! How do you do it. If I ate what you eat I would still be Heffen around extra pounds. Heffen ha ha get it! YOU ROCK!!!!! Maybe your thinking your way thin? Maybe it's just a whole mental mind game. Hey that lettuce sandwich sounded good, Never had one, Veggie Sandwich, Tomatoe sandwich, but never a Butter and lettuce sandwich. SIT-UPS?? What are those???????LOLOLOLOL your brave, If I did just one sit-up my tummy would scream. I squeezed my rear-end a couple times yesterday, and it actually aches today. LOLOLOL seriously.<br />Keep up the good work you farm girl you! <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0">
Thanks for checking up on me China, Pastel, and Maxi! I have found out if I sit on this computer<br />all day or most of it, I have to run my rear off to get the housework done. Pigs always come first, but then I end up here. My hubby and son aren't too good at picking up after themselves...so I usually "run" when I do it for them. A really big trick is to keep moving. Really doesn't matter what you do. I do have a crappy job with pigs tomorrow though. I was sick when they came in this month and my hubby did a crappy job of sorting them into pens according to size, so tomorrow I have to go thru 800 pigs and get little ones out and put in a pen of their own so they'll grow. <img src="mad.gif" border="0"> All my pens are full, so I really don't know how I'm going to do it. I know I'll sweat till I can't see and do a lot of lifting...it will be my workout. Sorry you don't like water, Maxi! Maybe CA water ain't as good as Iowa's. LOL Just keep chugging! Well, today I had 1/2 prime rib sandwich on this really hard icky roll. Funny how when you're hungry, it still tastes pretty good. The rest is in the fridge for tomorrow. Had about 1 tbs. of mayo on it, or whatever comes in those little packets. Drank 1/2 20oz pepsi, not diet, the rest of that's in the fridge too. Probably drink it tonight. oh yeah, always have 3 cups coffee in the morning, supper was a bowl of chili and 3/4 tenderloin, and 12 oz glass 2% milk. Got down the 64 oz. of water this afternoon. Went shopping this morning and didn't want to hit the bathroom in every store. Ya know, when I start getting full, I can't swallow. I always used to wait until the food moved on down, and then eat some more till I couldn't swallow. That is a biggie. It's good if you stop eating when you're full! DUH! <img src="tongue.gif" border="0"> (I GOT THE HEFFER JOKE!) I'm so glad I found this site and am getting to know you guys...it's a riot! I'll see you tomorrow, Maxi <img src="wink.gif" border="0"> <br />jode
I thought I needed to put up a guilty face today. I had my 3 coffees this morning and went out to sort pigs. It took 3 hours. I bet I handled 400 of the 800 I have. The biggest ones weighed 35lbs. and the smallest are about 6 lbs. I have blisters on both thumbs from picking them up. To pick up a pig, you grab them by a back leg. It's their legs sliding on my thumbs that caused the blisters. They broke already and are really sore! Now, it's 4:40 pm here and I haven't eaten anything yet today. I had an RC and just finished a 20 oz. pepsi. My mom called and wanted me to go to help her pick out a new table and chairs for her kitchen. All I had time to do was get cleaned up and go. I'm going to a fish fry tonight. I don't like fish much, so I'll probably smother it in tartar sauce. Last night I did finish off my pepsi and ate 1/2 bag of butter flavored microwave popcorn. NO WATER TODAY>ME THE BIG WATER FREAK! Wasn't home to drink any. I missed it, too! <img src="frown.gif" border="0"> Well I really don't have much else to say, except.....I'm glad I'll be home tomorrow and am glad them dang pigs are sorted!!!!!
800 pigs WOW!!!<br />You are doing great...Keep it up!! I am getting tired from watching your journal hehe!! I can't imagine how you sort pigs (suburbanite here!) I have a heck of a time sorting laundry!! LOL<br />KEEP GOING STRONG!<br /> <img src="smile.gif" border="0"> <img src="smile.gif" border="0"> <img src="smile.gif" border="0">
ChinaDoll_888 01-19-02, 10:23 AM What a great workout you got there - sorting pigs! I like reading your journal 'cos it gives me an insight to farm life! Tks!
Happy Saturday!<br />Thanks for reading my journal guys! When you get little pigs in, they are all different sizes. I have 36 pens. When I sort pigs, I try to get 22 pigs that are about the same size in each pen. If they aren't the same size, the little ones die a lot of times from getting mauled by the bigger ones or not getting enough feed to eat. It's a cool job, really, cause some days it only takes an hour of work, and never much more than 3 hours. I have the rest of the day to do what I want to. I can do the work at any time of the day, so if I have an appointment 1st thing in the morning, I can do my chores when I get home. I went the the fish fry last night and they also had chicken strips. I had two chicken strips, 3/4 of the fries they gave me, 1 piece of bread & butter, a little of the cole slaw (it wasn't very good!) and a 10 oz glass of milk. Visited a lady in the nursing home later and ate a piece of chocolate candy. Came home and ate a bag of butter flavor popcorn and had another RC. Today I had my 3 cups of coffee and almost have a quart of water down. It tastes soooo good after not having any yesterday. I'll be back to finish logging what I eat today later.
ChinaDoll_888 01-20-02, 03:30 AM I envy you for being able to eat what you want ... 'cos you work really hard every day! I have to watch what I eat 'cos I work in the office and mostly sit at my desk except during registration period (I work in a school).
Finally, I have time to get back here. Seems funny to post what I ate yesterday so late in the day today.<br />I had my 3 cups of coffee, a plateful of lettuce with some croutons and thousand island dressing, a couple pieces of cheese, hamburgar with pickle, onion, catsup, mustard and a little thousand island dressing, a handful of curley fries, 4 pieces of sugar free peanut clusters, and 2 RC's. I do get to eat pretty normal meals. I still don't get to eat everything I want, tho. I love chocolate and used to hide it in a drawer in the bedroom. Then I went to bed early so I could "sneak" it. Bet theres still some empty candy wrappers in there somewhere. The work I do does help a lot, but just feeding the pigs isn't always a lot of exercise. When they come in they are little and it doesn't take much work to feed them. Now that they are bigger it is a better workout each day. I also have vaccinations to give next week, which will be 2400 shots, and Feb. 15, I will begin to wash the 3 rooms out. It usually takes three hours for 3 days to do it. It's not a pretty job, but I am thankful for it. OH YEAH...Got all my water in yesterday. Really missed it on Friday, when I was busy and gone all day.
Lizzie B 01-20-02, 09:34 PM Jode,<br />Wow I am learning so much about pig farming. I had no idea all the work it takes. Never occurred to me you would have to sort the little guys by size. That is very interesting!!
I know absolutely nothing about farm life but it sure is interesting!! Keeps you pretty busy yet you have time for all kinds of things. I know I would be exhausted by the end of the day or half a day!
Sounds like your eating regular food is working for you !!! That is great cause I know it wouldn't work for me. You must burn a lot of calories. I on the other hand don't. So I have to really watch what I eat!!
Keep up the good work and you will be at goal in no time. You sure have an interesting life.
Love and hugs,<br />Lizzie B
ChinaDoll_888 01-21-02, 08:32 AM hee hee ... I'm born in the year of a pig (chinese horoscope). Don't be mistaken that pigs are terrible 'cos we are hardworking and generous! I'm also collecting piggie stuff toys!! <img src="redface.gif" border="0">
Happy Monday?<br />Oh, Mondays aren't so bad. I just am not ready for the phone to start ringing! I didn't do any physical activity yesterday and I was so tired last night I went to bed early and still hated to get up after 9 1/2 hours of sleep! That's ridiculous. If it's nice next Sunday, I'm going for a walk or something! Had my coffee, a plateful of letttuce with 1/2 cup taco meat, tomatoes, onions, 1/4 cup shredded cheese, a small torn up soft shell on top, 2 tbs. sour creme, lite ranch dressing, and taco sauce for lunch. Didn't eat right for supper at all. Had 1 1/2 bags butter flavored popcorn, 7 sugar free chocolates,(250 calories!), and RC and 1 1/2 quarts of water. I need to make sure I eat 2 decent meals a day and save the popcorn for a snack. That could have been another reason I was low on energy yesterday. Well, yesterday is just that, and today is a new day and I'm ready to go. Back to taking care of Me and doing what is best for Me.<br />jode
48 degree high today in Iowa. Can't believe its still Jan. Jan. always goes so slow after the holidays. I've almost got my 3rd week under my belt. Wondering what Wed. weight in will bring. Felt good to work again today. I need to busy, that's when I feel the best. Had my 3 coffee's this morning. For lunch had a plateful of lettuce with croutons and thousand island dressing. Also had 1 1/2 pieces of motzorella string cheese. Have had 2 RC's and a bag of popcorn this afternoon. I was really hungry....I think....now I am wondering. I know at 3pm it looked like an awfully long time till 6pm. I also had 4 squares of a sugar free chocolate bar. Drank all my water this am. I bet if I had kept on drinking water, I wouldn't have wanted that popcorn. Oh well, what's done is done. I'll have to remember to drink more water. I even think water gives me energy. More exercise i guess, cus I run to the bathroom an awful lot! LOL I'll be back tomorrow and write how supper went. Just a hint...we're having roast chicken.
Your doing great!! Keep it up!! Chinadoll I am year of the rat!!!! hehe I just love that!! Really I am not a RAT, just born that year!! LOL<br />Jode, you are one busy woman!! I give you credit because I could never sort piggies!!<br />Keep going forward!<br /> <img src="smile.gif" border="0">
ChinaDoll_888 01-22-02, 10:03 AM Your meals sound sooo good ... I haven't eaten salad in a while 'cos all we have here are too fattening...we have a couple of brands that's lowfat but they really don't look good ... I love vinaigrette dressing but I don't see any that's lowfat (we only have 1 kind)! Oh well <img src="graemlins/sigh.gif" border="0" alt="[sigh]" />
I'm feeling a bit like that face to my left. Had thoughts of wanting to quit yesterday after eating in the middle of the day. DUH!!!! A lot of good that would do. Gotta remember theres nothing to it but to do it. Must have had a strange hormone buzz or something affecting my brain. I drank another 1 3/4 quarts of water yesterday afternoon. Had a thigh and about 1/2 leg of roast chicken last night for supper. Took the skin off. Also had 1/2 cup mashed potatoes with chicken gravy....made out of corn starch, water, and flavoring. Skimmed the fat off the broth before I made it. Also put a little gravy on my chicken. Ate 1 1/2 cups or so of steamed broccoli, corn, and red peppers. 10 oz. of 2% milk to drink. It may sound fattening, but its way less food than I used to eat. It takes 3200 calories to put on 1 pound. I don't count calories, but I know I didn't have that many calories, plus my work burns a lot of calories. My goal today is to wash the outside windows of the house, straighten and sweep the garage, and clean out the car...in addition to my chores. Maybe will even wash the car if I have time and energy left over. It's going to be almost 60 degrees here in Iowa today. I cannot believe this winter.( If that's what you'd call it) I'm not complaining though. This is great! Be here later to post food for today. <img src="cool.gif" border="0">
maximum 01-22-02, 12:25 PM Hey you! If I had lived near you I would have come over and helped you sort those Piggers... Hey, can't you wear gloves? And whats with the discouraging words in your last post Maybe you better go read what you wrote to me in my journal. YOU CAN DO THIS. And hey if you can do it the way you are even more power to you. Cause you do know how many calories 12 oz of soda has right? ah hah! I have what I call ASS HOCKS!!!! And those puppies would grow with a couple soda in me a day...... I just love reading your journal and what you eat, KEEP IT UP, you can do this, and soon you will be SVELT..... <img src="wink.gif" border="0">
You and my husband,Maxi! He said the same thing about the gloves. (Some people are so "smart" ya know!) I'll remember them next time. I bet we would have a ball working together. We kinda speak the same language! I wasn't really so discouraged yesterday, just had some bad fleeting thoughts. And week 3 is always tough. Tomorrow is weigh in day. It will be very interesting to see if I lost anything. So far today I've had my coffee, 3 cups!, A plateful of lettuce with 2 roma tomatoes cut up on it and ranch lite dressing, a 1/2 roast chicken sandwich with butter on it, and I'm on my third quart of water today. It reached 56 degrees today, so I cleaned out the garage, cleaned the inside of the car and washed the car windows, and washed part of the outside windows of the house. (The ones people see out of when they come to visit <img src="graemlins/laugh.gif" border="0" alt="[laugh]" /> ) It's only going to be in the 20's here tomorrow. One of these days I'm going to have to do seat work....getting stuff ready for income tax. Have an appointment Jan. 30, so time is getting close and I have a bunch to do. YUK! I'll be back in the morning and let ya know how supper goes. <br />jode
I feel so much better today. Ok, it probably has a lot to do with losing another 2 lbs., but I am sure glad the energy is back! I got in the habit of eating for every emotion I had, and those blah days were tough! I am so thankful for all of you here at DT who are being faithful to your weight loss goals. That is a tremendous help!!!! I had another quart of water yesterday after posting. Made a gallon total for the day. Sounds like a lot, but I think it did me a lot of good. It's my PMS week and I'm sure by the way I feel, that it is helping so I don't retain fluid and get that bloated feeling. For supper had 1 cup of tator tot casserole and 1 1/2 c. peas. Also had my 8 oz of 2% milk. I really ate pretty well yesterday. Also did a lot of phsical activity, so that helps too. Well, a new week starting for me. I am soooo looking forward to getting into the 150's. Can't even remember the last time I was there. Thanks again for you support everyone! I would have blown it about last Sun. if it wasn't for you. <br />jode
ChinaDoll_888 01-23-02, 09:30 AM Tks so much for what you wrote in my journal ... I was wondering what is wrong with me ... I'm trying to control what I eat (resisting a lot) but I don't lose any weight at all! I've been losing 2 lbs every 3 weeks or so ... I know that exercise will speed up the losing part ... it's just the motivation to exercise that's the problem. You're so right ... looking back, I'm so glad I'm 20 lbs lighter! If I didn't get started, I would still be feeling angry & miserable. Tks ... you're a sweetie!!
Also, I notice that you seem to be eating healthier food! I can see that you're trying your hardest so don't go giving up! It's hard but we just have to push ourselves!
Wow, you are doing so much housework ... I hope you get some help! The only housework I do is to pick up after dh, wash dishes, take down laundry, dust the furnitures and occasionally sweep the floor. <img src="tongue.gif" border="0">
maximum 01-23-02, 12:16 PM AHHHHHHHH! to be 150 again.....tis but a dream for me~~~~~~~ BUT DAMNIT I'LL GET THERE THIS TIME. Funny last time I was 150 I thought I was fat <img src="redface.gif" border="0"> And now I look back and think PSHH! I was HOT! LOLOLOL.
OK EVERYONE STAND BACK~~~~~~~~JUMP, JUMP, JUMP<br />FOR JOY.............YOU LOST!!!!!!!! I am so happy for you.....Gosh, you know seeing that scale go down is so inspiring. I'm waiting to get out of these 14s and in to my twelves, so I can get into my 10's, and on to 7. YES, I actually have saved all my jeans of various sizes. And goody two shoes for you and your no water retention, you could stick a hose in me and water your lawn.......Keep it up, Your doing it right! <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0"> <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0"> <img src="biggrin.gif" border="0">
Have had a slower day today. Did chores, but that's all the phsical stuff I did. Spent the afternoon getting stuff ready for income tax. We itemize and farmers have to have theirs done by March 1. It's a lot of work to get ready, but I'm sure happy I'm about half done. Thats a big accomplishment for today, but its all Seat Work, ya know. Have had 3 coffees, almost 3 qts. water, plateful of lettuce with some shredded cheddar cheese, croutons, and ceasar dressing on it. Had a normal size portion of leftover roast chicken. Be back tomorrow to report on the rest of the day.
I'm having a weak day. Weak days are when your legs and arms are really tired, like you've already worked out. I asked my hubby to do my chores this morning, but when he told me stuff he has to do today I told him I'd do them. He said I'd be glad I did. I think he'll be glad he didn't!!! Had another qt. of water yesterday. Had an RC in the afternoon. Ate a normal portion of leftover tator tot casserole for supper and 1 c. green beans. Had a diet coke at praise team practice. We never get practice started till 8:30 pm, so I was after a little caffeine to help keep me perky! Ate a bag of butter flavor popcorn and 4 sugar-free pecan delights when I got home. I tend to eat when I get tired (another one of those "feeling" eating sessions. I should have just got my REAR to BED!!!!! Would have been less calories for yesterday and another hour of sleep! I wasn't even hungry........... <img src="eek.gif" border="0"> I'm really going to work on getting rid of that bad habit. Gotta chore and will post more later.
ChinaDoll_888 01-24-02, 10:06 AM What's tator tot casserole? I only know how to make tuna noodle casserole.
When I'm tired, I crave for coffee...if I don't allow myself to drink that, I reach for water (even if I'm not thirsty). But diet coke's okay, right ... I hope so 'cos I've been drinking lots of that ... can I get diabetes from drinking too much?
ALRIGHT!! My hubby was right about feeling better after chores....I will never admit that to him! Men love to give unsolicited advice, ya know! <img src="wink.gif" border="0"> China, my mom is a diabetic who controls her insulin level by diet only. She drinks lots of diet Mt.Dew, so I know it doesn't cause her any problems. Tator Tot Casserole: Spray a cake pan with pam, 1-1/3# of raw lean ground beef goes in the bottom of the pan. I kinda just take little chunks of it and try to cover the bottom that way..don't pat it in there. Then you put a layer of frozen tator tots on top of that. Then you take two kinds of a cream soup and spread over the top of that. Bake it at 350 for 30-45 min. You can always use the low-fat soups if you want. Then I usually eat like a cup or so. It gives you a meat & potato and all you need to do is fix a veg. to go with it. I got my diet coke at church last night, but I think I'll go shopping today and buy some. I like it, so I may as well be drinking it instead of regular pop. <img src="smile.gif" border="0">
maximum 01-24-02, 12:23 PM Yes! Your switching. You'll probably lose weight just from that. Regular soda packs mega calories for what it is. I know, I know....your not counting calories, but 20oz of RC???? versus a Diet Coke? I think your making a wise choice. Ok, I've got to ask? Where in the heck did you burn your jeans? It's so funny that you mentioned how you were happy with yourself being bigger, cause that was so me. Except that I wasn't staying the same I was growing even more, and my fat jeans were now becoming my tight jeans, thats when I said ok, thats enough. I refuse to buy 16s, 14's were hard enough??? Actualyy it wasn't hard, I just told myself I would be more comfortable? YEAH RIGHT. I pray that you have a energy filled day, and that everything that goes in your mouth will be to nourish your body. (((HUGS))) <img src="graemlins/rose.gif" border="0" alt="[rose]" />
Waited to journal from last night until after choring today. Wanted to fill my feeders clear up so I bucketed 1 1/2 ton of feed this morning. Most days I only add 2 or three buckets, because I know that gives the pigs enough till the next day. Usually fill feeders on Saturday, but felt like I could use a better workout today. Didn't eat worth a hoot yesterday at noon. Grabbed some lite baked cheese things, like cheeto's, at the grocery store and ate probably a couple cups of those on the way home. It was our godson's b-day yesterday, so we went out to eat last night. Had a 10oz ribeye, but only ate about 2/3 of it. Gave the rest to hubby. Also had a lettuce salad...they make theirs with shredded cheese and a few broken up freeto's on them. Added a couple tbs. of ranch dressing. Ate about 1/2 baked potato with 1 tsp butter and a tbs. of sour cream. Had 2 20oz. diet cokes throughout the <br />day. I don't have a clue how many calories I consumed yesterday. I know I ate more for supper than I usually do. I haven't even decided what I'm having for supper tonight, so I better be deciding so I can get it out of the freezer to thaw. Bye for now.

Are you totally annoyed with me now...... kee kee.<br />I couldn't help it, I'm getting addicted to counting calories now. Kind of fun... Anywhoos you know you could probably lay me out with those arms of yours, Sounds like your getting a great work out. I have finally come to the conclusion that I need to start working out or something. I've just always thought I would wait till my ass hocks weren't so big, You know all that bouncing around could cause , oh I don't know a blood clot! oh well. Denial over. So I think its awesome that you have switched form regular soda and Popcorn to lighter versions, You may think it won't make tht big of a differance, But Ihad a friend who drank 2 of the 2 liters of Pepsi a day, she just stopped drinking that and she lost 20 pounds. And I swear I gained my last 10 pounds from macking that Microwavable Kettle Corn. But everybodys differant, And actually sounds like your losing weight anyways....... Your doing whats best for you...........Hope you have a wonderful weekend, I'll check back on you on Monday, Keep it up! <img src="wink.gif" border="0">
maximum 01-25-02, 12:27 PM F.Y.I. just looked at my pepper Jack cheese, 100 cal per oz. GEE min Nee! I didn't realize how much cheese varies.... Anyways information more for me, but thought I'd share.
Had a much better lunch at noon. Had my 3 coffees this am, and had a large lettuce salad with 2 thin slices of turkey, 1/2 chopped up tomatoe, croutons, and lite western dressing. Have had my 2 qts. of water today. Wouldn't allow myself a diet coke till the water was done. Planning on a beef stroganof tonight made with sirloin tip steak. I'll just make sure I eat a normal portion size and steam some broccoli to go with it.
Maxi, you little calorie counter you! I fell right into that one didn't I. I knew I ate plenty of calories last night, but when we go out to eat, I'm gonna have my steak!!!! I could describe what it tasted like, but it would make my mouth water too! <img src="tongue.gif" border="0"> lol
Well, I made the beef stroganof. I'm sure the sauce has plenty of calories. I put two cups of noodles and 2 cups of sauce on the plate, and looked at it and knew it was too much for a normal portion size. So, I only ate 1/2 and threw the rest away. I would have liked to have eaten it all, but I knew I'd regret it afterwards. Also had steamed broccoli for supper and ate a couple cups of it. I was actually full when I quit eating, but there was a time when I would have just shoveled it in till it was gone. I feel good for making the right choice. I may have some popcorn later but have switched to lite. Funny how a person continues to change what they eat as time goes on. I'd rather it didn't take till july to take off these last 24 lbs. Diet pop and lite popcorn should make some difference. I'm hoping so, anyway.
Well last night I did indulge in some LITE popcorn, about half the bag and another diet coke. I had a good day.
I have eaten too much today and haven't drank enough water. I ate a normal lunch...portion size of ravioli and a large salad with lite dressing...then I turned around and ate some sugar free chocolate and potato chips and 3 slices of cheese. Drank a couple diet cokes. Now this is a pretty good slip up, but this is today and tomorrow is a new day. I'm moving ahead tomorrow and putting this day behind me. Don't know what I'll have for supper, but at this point I'm not even hungry! Blah!!!! I did do my chores and clean some house, but that's all the exercise I've done. Like I said, this is NOT going to cause me to quit. This is the reason I am writing this down. I'm ready to move on. Only 24 lbs. to go!!!!
Lizzie B 01-26-02, 06:55 PM Jode,
It has been fun reading your journal and seeing the little changes that you have made. 24 more pounds and you are at goal!! You must feel very good about that!!! I know I would.
You still amaze me with all that you do. If I had half the energy who knows what I could accomplish?? I don't think you eating has been so bad. Actually you eat very healthy foods. I would never lose weight eating what you do but that is just me. Besides I am not as active as you either.
Just keep on doing what you have been doing and you will knock those 24 pounds into kingdom come!! I know even with a little slip up you won't give up cause you have to much determination!!
You are a winner!! Keep on hanging in there!!
Love and hugs,
Lizzie B
Thanks Lizzie B for the words of encouragement. I actually only have 19 lbs. to go. I was so irritated with my self I wasn't even thinking straight! My stomach was upset the rest of yesterday afternoon, couldn't even eat supper. Just drank water. I feel much better today. It's a while till lunch, so I'm not real sure what I'm going to have today. I'm trying to pump myself up for work tomorrow. I start vaccinating my pigs tomorrow. I'll give shots on Mon, Tues, and Thurs. I'll be giving between 670 and 700 shots each day. Each pig gets 3 different shots. It will take about 3 hrs. to do. I need to get this stuff done this week. My daughter is due to have a baby Feb. 6, and she lives in Ohio and I want to be able to go out there when it's time. The pigs are leaving on Feb. 14 and I'm sure if I get shots done this week I'll be in good shape to go. It will be some good exercise!!!
maximum 01-28-02, 12:46 PM If it makes you feel any better, You had a better weekend then I. I really was food crazy. But your attitude is great JODE. You are really so close to goal, and at the rate your going you'll be there way before the 4th of JULY,,,, Hey did you daughter have that baby early??? usually you've posted by now. Hope all is well. Oh, and make sure and use some soap, after vacKin those piggers...... LOL just kidin
Just got in from vaccinating my first room of pigs. Gave about 750 shots today. It would go a lot faster if someone was filling my syringes for me. Each syringe holds enough vacc. for 25 pigs. I had a couple of pens get the gate down and get into my alley way, so I had to chase them back in their pen. (They made me say a BAD word!) It's a good workout. There's a lot of stretching and bending and crawling of pens. I'll do the next room tomorrow and the last room Thurs. On Wed. we get taxes done.YUK. Yesterday I ate lite popcorn at lunchtime. There was no one else at home to eat. Did frozen pizzas for supper last night and ate 3 pieces. And I know the popcorn was 87 calories and the pizza was 960 calories. Oh boy, now here I am calorie counting!!! Wonder who got me started on that????? I think YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!!! Well, gotta pick up everybody's stuff and do a little laundry yet today.
maximum 01-28-02, 02:27 PM BAH HA HA HA HA HA..................
Okay, this afternoon I finished getting tax records done. The face "says it all". The only thing better than that job done is getting the appointment over with. Tax time sucks..... I did some laundry this afternoon and picked up everybodys junk AGAIN!! Had a vegetable cheeseburgar for supper and a few french fries..the fries were baked. Also put some thousand island dressing on my sandwich...it was good! Probably will be out and give shots again tomorrow before posting. Have a good Tuesday. I will as soon as I'm done with them dang shots!!!
got 2nd room of shots given today. Will pobably be Friday before the next room, because I have to wait for the owner to bring up some more vaccine. Came in and folded a load of clothes, loaded and ran dishwasher. Probably consumer 300 calories of those low fat cheese curls for lunch. Our worship team is playing at a state boys home tonight. Will probably eat supper out. I would like a sub for supper, but hubby is talking pizza ranch. If they have a buffet there will be other stuff, like salads and meat, besides just pizza. Guess we'll see!!
maximum 01-29-02, 05:25 PM Good Luck on eating out tonight, Oh and let me just tell you something JODE! I WILL BE HERE FOR YOU! I WILL BE THIN and I will do it this year, So, so , YOUR Pressure works.........:)
Do you watch TV? Did you watch Fear Factor last night? One of the stunts was, they had to eat PIG Rectum? Oh yeah!!! I was gaggin! I kNow TMI, But had to share................8-}
Well. ate at the pizza ranch. Had a small lettuce salad, but put on some hard boiled egg, bacon bits, cheese, ripe olives and topped it off with ranch dressing. Also had 1 piece of sausage pizza, green beans w/bacon in them, small amount of macaroni salad, and a broasted chicken thigh. ( Had a couple big bites of hubbys sub sandwich before our service started at the boys detention home. THEN, I came home and ate the rest of the bag of those lite cheese curls. I weighed this morning, and stayed the same. I had in my head that all that exercise this week was going to let me eat more and still lose. WRONG!! Although I have lost 11 lbs this month and that's a lot, really. I'm not freakin out just because I didn't lose. I wore a pair of size 12 jeans last night. Still had a little over the waist flab hangin if I didn't stand up straight....and I rarely stand up straight...I have worthless posture. ANYWHO, the jeans didn't feel a bit tight and when I took them off last night I didn't have a red waist mark after wearing them. I have made great progress this month and I'm chargin on.... I haven't been worth a hoot at drinkin water this week, either. I'm going to get back at it. Tomorrow is the independance day weigh in. I'm not going to weigh again. I'm going to go with todays figures. CHARGE!!!!!!!!!!!
Jode, you are just doing SO well!!! Size 12 jeans without a red mark is fantastic!! I'm really happy for you.
I know you don't like breakfast, but someone told me once that if you eat breakfast, it starts your metabolism hopping first thing in the morning and then you burn calories more effeciently during the rest of the day. I you don't feel hungry, you might want to try some soy Slimfast or make your own breakfast shakes with fruit and yogurt. I like the soy Slimfast because it has less sugar in it and I know soy is really good for me. Just a thought anyway....
Maximum..... I had to stop watching Fear Factor.... it just got so gross! lol
Take care, Jode, and have a great day!
Thanks for the encouragement DJ, and I will consider having a little something. It seems like I'm always hungry early before lunch when I do have breakfast. That's another reason I don't like to eat breakfast, other than I'm usually not hungry. Maybe a little something would give a little more energy for doing my chores. And maxi....about the pig rectum....you should have taped the show for each of us and we could watch it before our meals. Think it would curb the appetite??????? LOL
maximum 01-30-02, 11:24 AM Yeah, no kidding, that would be a great appetite suppresant...... Gosh Size 12's with no red marks huh? That great....ah but tis a dream for me......But reality soon enough. You know your probably right about the posture thing though, I have the worst posture in the worlda! I'm sure I would be thinner If could straighten out my back. I was never a big breakfast eater myself, but now I have to have it, It really does get you up and going. I was even thinking of eating a larger breakfast and smaller dinner.............You could do the cereal and fruit, or yogurt and toast, Or egg whites with lots of veggies, Or a egg and toast, hmmmmmm, I think its good to eat some protien in the morning it seems to hold you better till lunch.:)
taxes are DONE!!! YEAH!!! I'm singin!!! I just kept telling my husband I didn't want to go with him to get them done, and he said he wished I'd quit saying that. Well....I made SURE to say it one more time before we got them done ....and once after. I felt so in Control of Myself. LOL Did chores this morning early, and that's about all the activity I did today. Had a fried bologna sandwich(2 pieces of bread) with mustard on it and 1/8 cup Hy-vee spagetti with 1 meatball for lunch. I really could have passed on the spagetti. Anyway, I think lunch was probably close to 300 calories. After taxes I wanted to STRESSFUL eat. Waited till I got home and shared lite popcorn with my husband. For supper had 4 oz. roast beef , 1/2 c. hashbrowns, and a lettuce salad with lite western dressing. Oh yeh, had 8 oz 2% milk. The milk tasted so good, I hadn't had any all week and I love milk. I have praise team practice tonight and won't be home till 10 or so. This week I have made my mind up that I'm not going to eat anything when I get home...not even lite popcorn. I'm just going to start going to bed when I'm tired instead of eating when I'm tired. You know, I think I ate for every emotion a woman has....and that can be many different ones each day. No wonder I put on weight!!!
I'm ready for tomorrow!!!!
rosepetal 01-30-02, 09:02 PM That is great that you have decided not to eat when you get home tonight, you can do it! It is hard when you get home late, the first thing that I want to do when I get home from being out some place is open the fridge. Since you are not going to eat anything when you get home tonight, I will not eat anything between now and when I go to sleep. That way you know you are not alone!
Hi Jode
I love reading your journal. Its fun and motivating. Breakfast really does help. You know you don't have to eat traditional breakfast foods. You can have a healthy slice of pizza(my personal favorite) or a pb&j sandwich. Anything you want. As long as you eat. I find when I don't eat something I don't eat as well the rest of the week. Have a good rest of the week. Renee:)
RosePetal, I wish I had got on here and saw your post last eve. I decided to drink 1 c. of 2% chocolate milk. Shoot, I didn't eat anything, but that glass had 190 CAL.!!!!! I may as well have eaten a darn candy bar!!! Thanks for all the breakfast tips. Today I did eat 1/4 c. cheerios with a little 2% milk. I think it may have helped with the energy doing chores. However, if I'm starved before lunch you know who"ll get the blame!!! LOL
maximum 01-31-02, 12:09 PM First of all, a 1/4 of a Cup????? PULEASEEE! ..lol.......That's right, If your hungry before lunch it will be your fault for teasin your tummy, I'm sorry I can not stop laughing, I'm dying over here:)
Ok, remember I had cereal for breakfast yesterday. For lunch I had a huge salad with 4 slices of thin turkey, a whole tomatoe, croutons, and lite western dressing. Had a bag of popcorn for snack. Supper I didn't feel real hungry. Had 1 cup homemade beef stew and half grilled cheese sandwich. Looks good huh. AND THEN>>>>about 10 pm I went mental and ate 6...count em...6 chocolate chip cookies at 139 calories a piece and 1 cup of chocolate milk...which is 190 calories. Whew...I hated to tell you all that!!! I was really craving chocolate. Well, todays a new day and I'm ready to move on. Heading out to vaccinate last room of pigs. Oh, yeah, did 25 sit-ups, 10 side stretches on each side and 12 pushups. I'm gonna do that again today. Really want to tighten up the waist and belly area. IT really needs it. Rock n Roll!!!
maximum 02-01-02, 11:12 AM Soooooooo, the cookie monster possessed you ay????? Well I sent him over cause he has been at my house to long.....lol. Big deal you ate a couple cookies..ok 6 cookies, but still you've got to live, right? I mean Skinny girls eat cookies... and technicaly you are a skinny girl, just waiting for summer to show off is all.......ok, I'm being silly. But hey, YOUR NOT ALONE. Everynight I get a crazy urge for something sweet to eat, Something that feels my mouth with a little bit of heaven. Besides Vackin them pigs in the freezin weather this morning will proabably knock those cookies right off of ya. And just think you'll be caring a 6 pack on them abs if you keep it up........... *
Gee whiz! Lots of people are keeping journals now. That is so cool. Had to go to pg 3 to find mine today!
Yesterday I vacc. the last room of pigs. 750 shots or so and I'm so glad it's done. Had a cheese sandwich for lunch. 2 slices of white bread with butter and 1 slice cheese. Think I ate about 1500 calories of pizza last night. had 1 c. sugar free vanilla pudding for desert. Also did 30 sit-ups, 15 push-ups, and 10 side stretches on each side. Could feel the muscles being a little sore yesterday. That's cool, cause I know it's working. Well, I gotta get some stuff done today. Will check in tomorrow. Hopefully I will eat a little healthier. Am kinda hungry for some fruit. I'm not a big fruit eater, but it sounds good today. Also feel like I'm needing some veggies. Oh, and I've done my sit-ups and stuff, the same amount as yesterday, already this morning.
HeatherC 02-02-02, 11:09 AM Jode, just wanted to stop by and say great job on the exercise! You are going to be tight, firm and cut by the end of summer!! And I couldn't help but be a bit jealous about the size 12 jeans with no red mark! You should be so proud!:rose:
So what was worse, giving shots to the piggies or doing your taxes?! I would rather do either than eat the pig rectum! Anyway, I hope you have a great relaxing weekend! Love, Heather
Missed getting here yesterday. Saturday I had a cheese sandwich for lunch and had 1/2 ribeye, 1/2 cup mashed potatoes and gravy, 3 bites of a breadstick, and four deep fried mushrooms for supper. (We ate out) Also did 30 situps, 15 pushups, and 15 side stretches. Sunday I had 4 small peices of roast pork, quite a good helping of mashed potatos and gravy, and green beans for lunch. I'm a potato and gravy lover!! Just ate popcorn for supper, cuz I know I overdid it on lunch. Also had some lemon drops in the evening. Did 40 situps, 20 pushups, and 15 sidestretches on each side. Hubby did chores this weekend, so I did miss that exercise. Ready for a new week.
maximum 02-04-02, 11:16 AM :super: Soon you will Super woman....... Gosh, I'm so proud of you and your push-ups and sit-ups.*
I'll have to say your gettin me started....We will be svelte to get felt soooooon.....lol.
Hmmm, Think I'll do my taxes...
Heather, thanks for visiting my journal. I'd have to say I hate doing taxes more than giving pig shots, but then I get paid for the pig work I do! You keep on going, girl, and you'll be in a 12 before you know it!!!!
I did my pig chores today. Increased to 50 situps and 20 sidestretches, but still can only do 20 pushups. Still have too much weight for my arms to handle! Forgot to journal that I ate a huge orange on Sat. Today I had a hot roast pork sandwich with potatos and gravy for lunch. Having a hamburgar patty (fried) for supper. Haven't decided if I'm gonna have the bun with it or not. Also am gonna have a handful of baked fries, and carrots. Be back tomorrow!
Well, I did eat my hamburgar on a bun last night for supper, but only ate 3/4 of it. Got too full to finish. Did have the fries and carrots. Had a meeting last night and when I got home had a bag of lite popcorn. The popcorn I buy only has about 82 calories for the whole bag. Also ate some lemon drops yesterday. Need to leave them alone......:stop:
maximum 02-05-02, 10:55 AM  50 Situps, Well your just moving right a long ay? Gosh your doing so good with your abbys.....

I'm finally back. I have had to stomach flu for 3 days so I don't have any food charting to do. Today I'm still doing toast, gatorade, and water. Haven't been improving very fast. Am going to try and do a little housework and some sit-ups. Just wanted all to know I'm still here. Have lost 5 pounds since a week ago wed. 2 of those since yesterday. This is not a good way to lose weight.:c(

I'm back! Haven't been watching what I ate while I've been gone, but getting right back at it today. Was in Ohio for a week and witnessed the birth of my second grandchild. A boy!!! Named William Henry born Feb. 12. This is my daughter's second child. I also have a granddaughter named Tessa who is 3. Had a great time and such a BLESSING! I ate a huge waffle every day while I was gone!!! and fast food!!! And I weigh more today!!!! I did have a piece of wheat toast w/peanut butter today and a glass of skim milk. Need to drink water, too. I'm sure some of my weight is water. The water out in Oh. was icky and I don't like to drink water going down the road...makes too many stops! Anyway, glad to be back!
Welcome back Jode and congratulations on the birth of your grandchild.. I can hardly wait till my daughter gets married and has children.. She informed me she would like me in the delivery room.. :D
It's nice to hear from you JoAnne. I hope you can witness the birth of your grandchildren too. I was also at the delivery when my granddaughter was born. And it is my daughter who has the children. Somehow, I don't think my daughter-in-law, (when I have one) will want me in there! It's kind of a mother-daughter thing I think. And when I had my 2 kids I never saw them being born cuz I was too busy! My daughter is in OH, but we knew when her labor would be induced for both children and that's what made if possible for me to be there.
Well, yesterday I came down with a dang sinus infection! Stomach flu 2 weeks ago and now this. I think God is trying to tell me something and I'm too dumb to figure it out!!!:( Anyway, I went to the doctor and got medicine and do NOT have a headache today. Praise the Lord! Those headaches are nasty.
For lunch yesterday I had a lettuce salad with tomato, croutons, and lowfat motzorella cheese. Had an 8 oz skim milk with it. Had 10 oz. of skim chocolate milk when I got home from the doctor because I needed food or milk to take my medicine. Ate 3 pieces of montery jack cheese before supper. Ate 1 1/2 cup spagetti-o's for supper and another 8 oz of skim milk. Had an 8 oz. chocolate skim milk with my meds before bedtime. I just bet if I added this up it would be a lot of calories. Drank all my water yesterday and am working on it today. Will be in town at the hospital over noon today. My MIL is having some tests done. I need to make better choices in food. If we eat in the cafeteria I can have salad. I'm sick of fast food!!!!! :blah: I also need to start doing my situps and stuff again. I get no pigs in till March 7th, so there goes the exercise I get from chores. Somebody grab the whip and get me going!:whip: I weigh in the morning, and it AIN"T GONNA BE PRETTY!!!! This morning I had 2 pieces of wheat toast with butter and a glass of skim milk. Will have to post this evening or in the morning about the rest of the day.
maximum 02-19-02, 12:21 PM Jode, Missed you! Congradulatins again on your New bundle!:balloons:
Don't worry you'll get back into the swing of things. By the way Cheese has lots O Calories.....1 oz, has a 100. Just F.Y.I.
:ex: Glad your back.....
Okay Maximum! So I ate at least 300 calories worth of cheese. I'm gonna have to leave that alone! Today was going good till my husband went in a quick shop and came out with this huge glazed donut for me. I ate it. X-( It's really not his fault, because he would have eaten mine too, if I hadn't eaten it. For lunch had 3/4 arbies roast beef sandwich and 10 french fries. Had a cup of skim chocolate milk at 2 with my medicine. Ate a taco salad and had a cup of 2% milk for supper. Am working on my 2nd quart of water. Didn't get any exercise done. Was still playing catch-up with laundry and housework before going to the hospital this afternoon. MIL's tests came back good. Will probably come home tonight or tomorrow. Oops...also had a regular pepsi....or part of one at lunch. I hate diet pepsi and there was no diet coke....so....pepsi. Well, I guess this doesn't look as bad as I thought, but tomorrow when I weigh...well...I wish I didn't have to weigh. It will probably be good for me, though.:(
maximum 02-20-02, 11:09 AM The first line of you last entry made me laugh, But Hey! you know that now everytime you go to eat cheese you'll think about it! Huh? Huh? Looks like you did good yesterday! Gosh I haven't had Arbys in so long....And donuts, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
I love Donuts. And I'm sure one won't hurt. It's only if you have another, then another. and then maybe one more.
Well, I did not make a good choice for lunch yesterday. Had a hot beef sandwich with mashed potatos and gravy. Ate the WHOLE thing and felt like crap the rest of the afternoon. Actually ended up taking a nap. Had chuck roast for supper. Ate a [SIZE=1]very small amount. Also a very small amount of au grautin potatos. Had a cup and a half of frozen sweet corn that I froze last summer. I'm craving vegetables. Am making a big pot of vegetable soup, but leaving out potatos. Had 2 slices of wheat toast with butter and 1 cup of skim milk for breakfast. Now....where is this wonderful burst of energy for my mind and body that I'm supposed to get from this meal??? My husband says I'll lose weight better if I eat breakfast. Says it will get the metabolism going. Well????????? I"M WAITING!!!!
maximum 02-21-02, 11:23 AM See, that nasty ol sandwich is makin you grumpy. And just a suggestion try some protien in the morning. That will give you a boost, Sometimes, they say that eating carbs in the morning, may make you more hungry later. But protien will hold you, or something with fiber. Just a suggestion.:D
Oh, and if your feelin low just go to my post from yesterday and Laugh IT UP............You know I did get hurt! LOL!
Alright, here goes.....for lunch yesterday I ate a huge bowl of vegetable soup. Middle of the afternoon I had 16 oz. of skim chocolate milk. For supper I had a maid-rite(hamburger bun with loose steamed ground beef on it). Didn't know if you all knew what a maid-rite is. Also had a lettuce salad. For desert had 2 cups sugar-free vanilla pudding made with skim milk. Also had a glass of skim milk with supper. Today for breakfast had a piece of wheat toast with peanut butter and a cup of skim milk. Then....I FINALLY did my situps(50) pushup(15) and side stretches(10 on each side.) I had only done situps once since I was sick. It's about time to quit being such a lazy a-- and do something!!!! It's going to be nice today and tomorrow and then get cold here again. Maybe a walk today?
maximum 02-22-02, 11:58 AM :cat: You are the milk queen:queen:
Sounds like you ate really good yesterday. And you excersiced! This will get in gear, at least thats what everyone keeps saying.
So do you do those 50 sit-ups all at once?
No more worrying about calories!!!! That is just not the way for me to lose weight. And no more breakfast. I do not like feeling starved by 10 am. I have always lost weight by doing portion size and that's what I'm going back to. I was losing weight doing portion control and I know I will again. When I count calories, all I do is think about what I CAN eat. I CAN eat anything.....it's just the amount that really counts. Yesterday wasn't that great a day of eating for me. Ate some vegetable soup and a piece of toast for lunch. Also had 1 cup skim milk. In the afternoon I was so tired of thinking about food and so gassed up from that soup, that I came home and ate the same as 2 small pkgs. of peanut m&m's and 2 pieces of cheese. For supper ate 1/2 a hamburgar with the bun and some baked french fries. Just a normal amount of fries. And had 16 oz. skim milk. Then I felt satisfied. Today I was hungry for peanut butter toast so had 2 slices wheat bread with butter and peanut butter. And I had 16 oz. glass of skim milk. I feel very satisfied right now. I have been trying to deprive myself all week and have drove myself crazy not trying to eat. I can't be on a diet forever....I have to eat like normal people who are thin. I have been drinking water and also did my situps, pushups and sidestretches today. Fianlly feel like I have some energy. Eating breakfast just happens to make me more tired and hungry. I know its supposed to be the most important meal of the day, but I just never have been a breakfast eater. For me it is not normal. It obviously upset my metabolism. I felt like sleeping a lot all week and I know its because of the change in metabolism. I just couldn't get going....and then I get depressed...and then I just want to eat EVERYTHING!!!!8-} Boy, it sure feels great to be me again. And i don't want anyone to think the way they are losing weight is wrong! We all have to do what works for us, or we'll fail. I don't want to see anyone fail and I sure don't want to fail. I think I feel a little motivation coming back........yeah!!!!!:ha:
Hi Jode
I'm the same way with cutting calories. When I count all I want to do is eat. I've found I do better with portion control. That way I can eat what I like and not worry about it. I just don't eat as much as I use to. And its working. The dr said that I had lost a total of 21 lbs since August, 9 since Dec. She was very happy. Said what ever I was doing is working . Told her that I had cut my portions. She siad that was a good way, that it would also help my cholesterol and lower my risk of diabetes. I'll find out next week when I get my blood work back. I guess what I'm saying is do what works best for you. Keep up the good work. Renee.
Back to the ole journal! Thanks for the information Renee! You are really losing by portion control!! Bet you Dr. is impressed! I didn't finish off my weekend real well, but the peanut M&M's are gone. Didn't throw them away! Anyone guess where they went? hahaha Anyway, Saturday night I had a piece of club steak...grilled it outside....it was 57 degrees in IA that day. Also had 1/2 baked potato with sour creme and butter and a lettuce salad with blue cheese dressing. Then ate m&m's. Yesterday had a 2 inch square bar of some kind after church, b-b-qed ribs, hash brown pattie, and frozen sweet corn for lunch. Then had a couple large glasses of ff chocolate milk, finished off the montery jack cheese, finished off them dang m&m's. Guess I didn't really eat an evening meal. Just ate the junk or snack stuff. All my meals I ate were portion controlled, it's just that I got into some other stuff. I'm sure glad that junk food is gone. Have to make something for this weeks lunches for my son, but will make sure it's something I don't care about! Did my situps and some sidestretches yesterday. No pushups and not enough side stretches. Wednesday is weigh in and I will have to be satisfied with staying the same if I don't lose. Don't think I ate enough to have gained. Guess we'll see later, huh? Still am having some problems with this sinus infection. I didn't drink much water yesterday and I need it, especially with the medicine I am taking. I woke up with a dang headache again this morning. Sometimes I feel like I'm just fallin apart! My sister has had the same problem with sickness since December. I think our immune system must just be worn down. I'm sure it will get better. Still no pig chores until a week from this Thursday. I will be anxious to get back at it. Need the exercise.
maximum 02-25-02, 11:13 AM  I've told you before, that whatever your doing is working, You were drinking RC cola, and stilll losing weight. Maybe I should keep my calorie opinions to myself. I never meant to get you to start counting calories, Mostly was throwing my new knowledge out there.:( Didn't mean to get you all confused...... You do whats best for you.......Cause only you know your body.:rose:
Now Maximum!!!! I knew you would take the calorie thing personally and its really not your fault. Like I said, I thought if I counted calories I could lose weight faster...and maybe I could, but I had food on the mind all the time! I feel like I get fatter just thinking about food when I count calories. lol I know you told me to do what worked for me and I honestly, truely, really, REALLY, do not want you to worry about this. You're a good friend!
I depend on you!
jode
balebis 02-25-02, 02:39 PM I think that's the most important point. We all need to do what's best for ourselves. As long as we're doing it healthy (not being anorexic or bulimic) the important thing is that we're actually doing it! We're getting thin!!!! Whatever works works! Good luck to you, Jode!
:hop: Julie
Had a pretty good day yesterday. Did my exercises and went up and down the basement steps 11 times yesterday carrying wood in for our wood burning furnace. It's so cold here. 12 degrees this morning and wind chill of -7. Years ago we got a furnace that we can heat the whole house with wood, and I love it on these really cold days. It's a constant heat and keeps the floor soooo warm. On warmer days we can't use it because the house gets so hot. My upper arms are kinda sore today, then I realized it was from carrying the wood. Good exercise. I always like getting my exercise from working best. Yesterday I had some leftover bbq'd ribs, a piece of wheat toast with butter and a lettuce salad with ceasar dressing for lunch. Had a few swiss cheese crackers for a snack late afternoon. For supper had tator tot casserole, a slice of wheat bread with butter and peas. Made some Orville Redenbachers lite butter popcorn for a snack and it is an icky brand....at least I don't like it. Will stick with my Hy-Vee brand. Only ate about 1/2 cup. Also had 7 chocolate tastetations...(Hard Candy) in the evening. They are 20 calories a piece and I do like to watch the calories on my junk food, because they can really add up. Figure the candy took the place of the whole bag of popcorn I was going to eat. Gosh, if I had liked the popcorn, would I have eaten both it and the candy????? I bet I would!!!! Today I have a busy day. Need to do some house stuff, bible study this afternoon, and hubby wants me to go to a jam session at the church this evening with him and play the piano. YUCK! I play for church and have to practice every Wed. evening and I really don't want to go tonight. They are practicing to put on a program for a nursing home. I JUST HATE TO PRACTICE!!!! Practiced everyday for 6 years growing up, and have played for church at least 11 years of my life. We have attended the church we go to now for 4 years, and I didn't even want anyone to know I played. Was kinda shamed into it one day when a woman who was suppossed to play was going through a rough time and I told them NO. Felt so guilty about it I told them next time they asked I would play. Have been playing there for 3 years!!!! Well, I better get busy and get some work done. Also need to exercise today. Happy Tuesday!!!!:D
maximum 02-26-02, 11:01 AM I think thats awesome that you play music. Maybe you could look at it as just Jammin together instead of Practicing. Doesn't sound like you need practice.:rose:
Well sounds like you have got back into your excersice. Good for you. You helped to motivate me to excersice. I don't think I would have ever even thought of doing a Push-Up. By the way I hate them, But feel like I HAVE TO DO THEM! Just cause I want to see if I can ever do more. I don't know some crazy mind game.
Food sounds good to, Hows your water consumption?
woops!!! Keep forgetting to put down the water I'm drinking. Am still drinking 64 oz a day. I try to have most of it down by early afternoon, or I'm waking up all night running to the bathroom. Also, I forgot to put down my 20 oz of ff milk I drank at meals yesterday. Haven't had any pop since a week ago Sunday. I think diet coke tastes good, but I also think it makes me hungry sometimes. Until I have a craving for it, I'm gonna leave it alone.
I have had a fat day. Shouldn't be pms, so I don't know what the problem is. If I hadn't got out of my sweats and put on jeans, I'd never have known it! Drank all my water plus extra today. Had some leftover tator tot casserole, a big lettuce salad with blue cheese dressing, and a slice of wheat bread with butter for lunch. Ate 3/4 of a chicken gumbo burger , 1/4 c. macaroni and cheese, and green beans for supper. Had ff milk at both meals. I suppose you are wondering what is a chicken gumbo burger? You steam 1 1/2 lb. gr. beef, drain the grease off, add 1 can chicken gumbo soup, and heat it till its hot. Eat it on a hamburger bun with mustard and dill pickle. It sounds weird, but its good. Got my exercising done. I'm sure this bloatiness will be gone by tomorrow. This is the fattest I've felt in a long time. Maybe it has something to do with the medication I'm taking, but then it should have happened before....not just today! Oh well....no use crying over a bloated belly!:c(
I'm singing today! Down 3 pounds to 159. I made my goal for Feb. by the skin of my teeth!:bubbles: Is that a dumb saying or what!?!?! Is that EVEN a saying???? Anyway, some of the bloatiness is gone today, but still feel a bit that way. One really good thing...sinus infection is much much better. Halleluiah. I was able to stay inside out of the -7 below windchill yesterday and I'm sure that helped a bunch. Skipped bible study and the jam session last night. Drank a glass of ff choc. milk last night before bed and have had a glass of 1/2 reg and 1/2 ff choc. milk already this morning. Sometimes when them sinuses open up, it makes a persons stomach feel a bit queezy. I would have gone all ff, but I ran out. Better make a trip to the store today. It's a good way to get some choc. without all the calories of candy. Think I'll mop the kitchen floor today, but will have to do it on my hands and knees cuz I can't find my mop!!! Isn't that stupid? I have looked everywhere. Even asked my son if he took it to his house....but no. I bet a person burns more calories on the floor instead of using a mop anyway. Haven't even had a good sweat in weeks. That should do it. Well, I'll check in later with my food intake for today. :D
maximum 02-27-02, 10:39 AM :ribbon: Whoooo Hoooooo! You are on your weigh DOWN! Awl thats so great I'm so happy for you.
Yesterday :sadtohapp ! Gosh 159, I would look Damn good at 159. HEY I"M JEALOUS!
No really Cheers to you my friend!
First of all, I just want to say that I forget to log off all the time, so I really am not on here 24-7! Did my exercise yesterday plus mopping on hands and knees. Still haven't found that Dang Mop!!! For lunch I had a chicken gumbo burger and a huge lettuce salad with a few croutons and blue cheese dressing. For supper had a cube steak, 1/2 baked potato, and lots of aparagus. Had a glass of ff choc. milk before bed.....and this is the kicker! I got up about midnight and ate a granola bar! I don't think I was even hungry...I don't know why I did that!8-} It is 120 calories. Not all that bad for calories...but MIDNIGHT????? Also drank all my water yesterday. And I haven't been journaling it, but I still drink 3 cups of coffee every morning. I drink it black....so no calories there. Thinking about "maybe" getting a chicken out to thaw for supper. We bought farm raised chickens and they are soooo good. And big! Not like them pigeon sized chickens you buy in the store. These are expecially good cuz they aren't confined in a little space. They get to run around in a lot and eat bugs and dirt and stuff. Makes for the best chicken you'll ever taste!!!!!
maximum 02-28-02, 11:00 AM Let me tell you! The whole thought of bugs and dirt makes me want to run out and eat a chicken so BAD..............
 Could you make it more appetizing....
:snow:
Let me tell ya, that fried chicken was finger-lickin good! That chicken must have eaten the right amount of bugs, dirt, (and chicken feed). May as well post backwards since I'm already talking about supper. Also had a "little" more than a serving size of potatos and chicken gravy and spinich. Had a c. of ff milk with the meal. For lunch just had a lettuce salad with a little part/skim mozorella cheese, a few croutons and thousand island dressing. Had an apple for a snack, and also 2 granola bars. Plus had 12 oz of ff choc. milk. Did my situps ( I guess the politically correct word is crunches ). Didn't get anymore than those done, though. Sat at this computer too much, and then had to run like heck to get housework done! Went out this morning and brought up a bunch of wood to burn. Love burning wood during storms....but still am kinda po'd that we're getting a storm this late in the year. It has been such a warm winter and pretty much snow-free. At least this time of the year it won't be around too long, because the weather will be warming up. The wood is in the back of our pickup in the garage right now. Can't decide if I want to carry it all down ( I loaded up a lot ) or hang our wood shute up and slide it down to the basement. I'm not really too ambicious, so sliding sounds pretty good right now. Besides, I'll have to pick it all up and stack it after I get it down there. :blah: I'll let ya know tomorrow what I decided to do! Good Friday!
We got some snow, but not nearly the amount that was predicted. It is really blowing and drifting and the wind chill is below zero today, but at least we're not snowed in. I never did anything with the wood yesterday. Just hauled to the basement what I needed to when I needed to add to the fire. For lunch I had a chicken thigh, less than a serving of potatos and gravy, and half my lettuce salad. For supper had 4 slices of homemade pizza and a diet coke. Had ff choc. milk and also ate 2 granola bars and 6 cookies!!!!!!:tomato: Just wanted the junk! Having PMS....it kinda throws me off track and I want to eat all the time! Some months it doesn't bother and some months it does. I think I feel better if I don't eat sweets, though. Well....I'll be here again tomorrow.
Meaning....I just decided to eat what I wanted...which was mainly these bars I made. Didn't eat much for decent food at all. Maybe it will even out? I won't get on the scales till Wed., so we'll see. Like Last night I ate no supper and 2 bars....that's the way my whole weekend went. No exercise either. Failed the four D's! Well, new week starting and time to get back on track. And....we have a -20 degree wind chill here today!! Yuck. Glad I have no pigs yet, and don't have to get out into it. Will just work on Laundry and indoor stuff today. Am looking forward to a new week. (Will have to bake something again for son's lunches, since I ate so many of the bars....shoot!)
ChinaDoll_888 03-04-02, 10:55 AM I love eating granola bars as well! They satisfy my hunger as well! Which ones do you eat? I used to eat the Quaker Oats chocolate chip bars but now, I'm hook on Nature Valley's Honey Nut!
maximum 03-04-02, 11:16 AM You'll do better this week! Weekends and Cold weather are always a sure Bust for Warm cozy food! Can't wait for summer, Just easier to eat a salad on a hot day then a cold day! Don't forget to get you some gloves before the oinkers get there!
Hmmm Your weekend sounds very similar to mine!:(
Ate much better today. Had a bowl of chili and a lettuce sandwich for lunch. Had a small piece of steak & 2 slices of whole wheat toast with butter for supper. Had one of the oatmeal bars for desert. The bar shouldn't hurt a thing because I didn't overeat. Had a couple glasses of ff milk, a diet coke, and drank all but 8 oz. of my water. Did 50 crunches and 15 pushups...no side stretches, though. Maybe today. I was a 20 pushups before I got sick, and I haven't been faithful to exercise, so I am hoping to get back to the 20. I was actually starting to see a difference in my arms. I don't know if I was seeing a difference in my stomach, but I think it was helping to do crunches because my jeans were fitting much better when I was doing them. Didn't eat any vegetables yesterday, so I need to eat some today. I crave them after I don't eat them. I'm heading the the nursery to get ready for my new pigs that come thursday. I'm looking forward to getting back into my routine. I haven't had any pigs for 3 weeks and haven't done any chores for about 4. This is the first time since 1989 that we have had no pigs on the farm. It has seemed very weird. My son finally got the walls in the downstairs of his house painted this weekend and will lay linoleum in his bathroom tonight. Then he can hook to plumbing back up in the bath and clean and lay carpet in the living room and move in! He is a really good kid, and no problem, but he moved out for a year and then moved back in and it was really nice having it be just my hubby and me while he was gone. He is only moving a mile away into a house he is buying. Got to be proud of a 21 year old who is already buying his own house. Half of my basement is full of his stuff, too, and I'm anxious to clean when he moves out. Well, guess I better get at it. Hope no water lines froze out in the nursery when it got cold. I have one unheated room and I'm praying that everything will be okay. Chinadoll, the granola bars I buy are really cheap. I don't exactly know the brand, but I buy them at aldi food store. They are oatmeal and chocolate chip. I like them much better than the name brands.
maximum 03-05-02, 10:50 AM Okay, yum! Haven't had a granola bar since I was kid. Looks like your back ona ROLL:laugh:
I'm so jealous that your doing those sit-ups, and push-ups. And I'm sure that any kind of excersice is going to change the shape of your bod only for the better. And getting back to them piggers will get your heart pumping!
Down a pound today. I'm now 158. That's not bad because I ate all the junk this weekend and thought I would stay the same or gain. Now the pms is over, the cravings for sweets will go away and that should help bunches. For lunch yesterday ate a whole chicken salad sandwich & a small piece of cake & my ff milk. Had an apple in the middle of the afternoon. For supper had 1/2 hamburger, about 10 fritos, and a couple cups of frozen sweet corn. Hubby poured me a glass of chocolate ff milk to go with it, which I drank, but would have appreciated later. I don't care for choc. with my meals. Had another 8 oz. ff choc. milk with med. at bedtime. Drank all my water and did my crunches, side stretches, and 20 pushups. Back to where I was before I got sick on all the exercise. Plus did quite a little work in the pig nursery yesterday morning getting ready for pigs to come thurs. Did a lot of lifting, carrying and stretching. Felt good to work again. Am looking forward to the pigs....I have really missed the phsical activity. I have always been on to get my exercise by the work I do. I don't particularly like structured exercise. Maybe it would be ok in a gym or something, but it's hard to do at home alone. All I have are aerobic tapes and I get sick of them fast. Also I have a body flex tape that I know works, but I just can't seem to stick with it either, and it's really an easy workout for me. I'm gonna think about "maybe" doing it, but will continue with the exercises I am doing for sure. Would love to tighten these upper abs and lose some more waist fat. I can still pinch an inch!
maximum 03-06-02, 10:57 AM :ribbon: Well you truly are on you weigh down. Congrats!
Yes, I'm sure your heart will get pumpin once those porkers come in. I've noticed your not eating popcorn???
Sounds like your cranking out the body work also. I know what you mean about the upper tummy area, thats what I need to do also......
:rose: :rose: Congrats again my friend.....:rose: :rose:
Maxi...I made some orville redenbachers one night and it was icky, and I haven't had the desire to eat any since. Actully haven't been in much of a munchin after supper mood lately.
Lizzie B 03-06-02, 06:40 PM Hi Jode,
Wow down to 158~!!! Super Super!! You are getting there!!
What happened to the little pigs did they go away? I see you are waiting for new ones or do I have that backwards?? Do you raise them to a certain size then sell them? Hope you don't think I am to nosey but I never understood anything about farming or little pigs!! I would have made them all pets!!
Sounds like you are doing great on your diet!! Still eating good food and losing!! Doing an excellent job on exercises too!! I had to stop for a while until I got over a bug then I hurt my back and now it is hard getting back to do them. Not my favorite thing to do.
Well just wanted to say hi and see how you are. Take care and keep up the good work!! You are doing so great!!
Love and hugs,
Lizzie
Thanks for writing Lizzie! Nice to know you're watching. I know how it is when you get those bugs...I had one last month and then went on vacation so I had 2 really bed or should I say off program weeks. I raise little pigs until they get about 45-40 lbs. and then they go to live somewhere else. It is called custom feeding. We don't own the pigs, but we own the building and rent it and my labor to a guy. Works really well. The hog prices are so up and down, that I'm truely thankful to know I'm going to get the same amount of money each month. That's whats paying my nursery off! I had a good day today. Had a big lettuce salad with a roma tomatoe, some motzorella cheese, croutons, and blue cheese dressing. Drank all my water this afternoon. I'm drinking 64 oz. a day. Did my exercises. For supper had a bunch of shredded lettuce with probably 2/3 c of taco meat. a little shredded mexican cheese, some onions, a tomatoe, some ripe olives, a dolup of sour creme, hot sauce, and a little lite french dressing. Man...it was GOOD!!! Drank a 1/2 can of "real" pepsi, because I thought it would taste better with my salad. Then I didn't want it all...so hubby finished it. Now, I have praise team practice tonight and If I get into something when I get home, I'll write it tomorrow. If anything it will probably be some ff choc. milk with my meds.
Oh, Lizzie! In my last post I meant bad weeks, not bed weeks! Last night after practice I had a 10 oz. glass of ff choc. milk. Also had a sliver of cake. / / < what a sliver looks like!!! This morning I' ve had a 10 oz. glass of ff choc. milk because my stomach was feeling real empty. So maybe I had breakfast?!?!?! Saw a health piece on the local news last night that said there's evidence that drinking milk helps to lose weight. That is good news for me! Said they aren't sure why. Think it has something to do with calcium, but also said that something else has to be involved because calcium supplements don't help to lose weight. Well, today my pigs come. It will be a pretty busy day. I'm looking forward to it! (Never thought I'd say that about pigs, but 4 weeks off has been a very long vacation. Probably won't happen for another 12 yrs. or so.) lol I feel really good today. I'm ready to kick butt on this weight loss thing. And I know I'll do real good till the dreaded pms comes again, but for now I'm going to enjoy the extra energy. When I feel good and work hard, I'm not as interested in food. It's a good thing!
Another good day! Yes! Talked to a friend via email and made a deal to eat right, just for today. It really helped. Had a salad for lunch made out of a garden mix, so it had cabbage and carrots in in it and I added a tomatoe, mozorella cheese, croutons, and topped it with blue cheese dressing. Had an apple for a snack in the afternoon. For supper had a taco salad made out of leftovers from last night. Put on a tomatoe, ripe olives, mexican cheese, hot sauce, part of a torn up burrito, and ranch dressing. It was HUGE, so I didn't get it all down. Also drank all my water, a glass of skim milk, 8 oz of ff choc. milk, and a diet coke through the day. Got my pigs in and did a bunch of lifting and moving them around..Whew! What a workout. And I'm in for another one today, because I have to sort them to size. I did my exercises yesterday and also did them already this morning, so I wouldn't decieve myself and think I didn't need to do them after I do my pig work. I know I will be kinda tired and probably a little sore after moving the pigs, and I was afraid I'd think" I did enough exercise...I don't need to do those crunches." I know me and I know that is probably what would have happened. Well....I'll check back this eve. or in the morning. Happy Friday~

:coach: Go JODE GO! you sound reved, and on your way....
Gonna have to drink me some Milk! Do you weigh the pigs or just eyeball there size?
I did real well on food choices this weekend till yesterday. I had a bad afternoon and made some very poor choices. I'm not going to write it all down. Today's a new day and I'm ready to get after it again. Didn't get all my water drank this weekend either. I DID do my exercises both days and had chores to do both days, so I did get some good activity. I'm ready to get at the water again today too. For some reason, it doesn't taste good to me on the weekend....that sounds dumb....it IS dumb...
My husband it going to start a third shift job and that should help me with eating. Will more than likely have a bigger meal at noon and eat a salad at night for supper, plus, I will always be able to eat a little earlier in the evening. I really like to be done eating before 6 pm. It will be a lifestyle change for us. I have faith that it will be a good change.
I ate tooo many beef and noodles on mashed potatos for supper last night.....now....that out of the way, I also had green beans and a glass of skim milk. For lunch I had 2 slices of wheat toast with peanut butter on it and a glass of skim milk. Had an apple for a snack. Had 1 diet coke and drank all my water. Did my chores, which included carrying 25, 50 lb. sacks of feed. Then were heavy. Was a good upper arm workout. Then I did my exercises. I was pretty lazy the rest of the day. I need to keep Moving!!!! :ex:
Jode
You're doing so good. You active and do exercise. You're very motivating. Keep up the good work.
Renee.
maximum 03-12-02, 10:48 AM Looky you heavin them sacks of feed. So were you so super full, or did you feel like you ate to much, Cause, it really doesn't look like you ate much yesterday! And with you workout, you probably burned some of that.:D
I haven't had much progress in weight loss since I went to OH a month ago. I decided to go back to the beginning of my journal and see what I was doing then. DUH!! I wasn't eating as much as I do now. I've gone overboard on portions. WAY OVER!! I have started doing some exercise which is a good thing, but I have been eating more like man-size portions. Now I just need to start thinking differently again and deciding if I'm satisfies with this weight, or do I want to make my goal. I want to make my goal!!! I"m gonna do it. I have to remember that I can always have more of that food I want tomorrow. It will still be there. I need to quit making deserts that I like, because I will get into the ones I really like. And then I seem to go overboard. I have to look at where I was, weight wise, and be HAPPY to be where I am now and move on. I need to quit looking in the mirror and seeing the fatter person I was in January and see the thinner person I am now. A person has to be really careful about their thoughts....because the wrong thoughts cause sabatage. Spring and Summer are coming and I want to be thinner so I'll have more energy and feel like taking care of my flowers again. Last year I could have cared less. I want to be able to go to the closet and get dressed without changing clothes 6 times because I don't feel comfortable in them. I want to do this for me, whether anyone notices or not. I want to keep my eyes on the prize...A SMALLER ME!! Gosh, I hope this pep talk does me some good. lol. I just felt like I needed to get some feelings out and look back at the last two months and get re-motivated.
I said I want to get re-motivated. :coach: I SAID I WANT TO GET RE-MOTIVATED>.. the only way to get remotivated is to do what you know you need to do. (This is a light bulb moment!) We motivate ourselves when we do the things we need to do to reach our goals! If we do the right thing, we will feel good about ourselves. I need to go back and change all the we's to I's. lol
If I don't do the right thing, I get depressed and dumpy and run right back to doing the wrong thing. I'm gonna do the right thing so I can stay motivated. At the end of this day... I'm going to be proud and say. "YES! I did good today"!!
Yes, I did good yesterday! At the end of this day I want to feel as good about myself as I did last eve when I went to bed. Did 3 sets of 25 crunches, 2 sets of 20 pushups and side stretches. This is an increase in the amount I had been doing. It's a good thing. I always heard exercise should be done before eating breakfast, and since I don't eat breakfast, I make sure they get done before my noon meal. Had a large salad with tomatoe, mexican cheese, croutons, 5 sliced black olives, and blue cheese dressing for lunch. For supper had 4-1 inch meatballs, 1/2 baked potato with some gravy from the meatballs. It was made from cream of celery soup, sour creme and water. Ate a lot of california mix vegetables that I steamed. Had 2 10 oz. glasses of ff milk for my meals, and a 10 oz. ff choc. milk before bed. Only drank half my water :( and had 2 diet cokes. AND>>>I'm down 2 more lbs. today! YES! 156 is my new weight. Have already lost 3 lbs. this month, and that was all I lost last month. I think a person should be able to lose at least 5 lbs. a month. I know I wasn't losing because I had started eating more junk food. Well, I am going back to the way I ate in the beginning. The junk food I ate was keeping me at the same weight. I didn't want to "maintain"! Not yet. So I feel much better about myself today. Woops, ate a few seedless black grapes yesterday too. Have been trying to eat a fruit a day. That seems to help with my energy level in the afternoon. Usually have it between 3 & 4 when its getting close to fixing supper. That's usually when my energy drops and I used to head for the sweets. Well....have a good one!
Wow! Jode

maximum 03-13-02, 11:56 AM :violin: I'm not losing any weight!
Well what do you call that 3 POUNDS:up:
 You are almost there Jode.......... I'm so happy for you. You Gosh, by summer you'll be FOXY! Actually before!
You are a strong person, there's no doubt in my mind in your in this till Goal.
And looky you pumpin out them Sit-ups. You mentioned wanting a treadmill, you should try walking that land girl...........
FIRST of all. Who didn't do their journaling yesterday? I always have to go to page 3, and close to the bottom at that, to find my journal, and today I was in the middle of page 2! Whoever is sluffing....GET BACK AT IT!!!!! Max, when you move to IA and walk the land in the winter, I'll go with you. (BAH!! Easy for someone from CA to tell you to walk the land!!) I feel good about yesterday too. Had a large salad for lunch with mexican cheese, black olives, croutons, tomato and blue cheese dressing. ( The cheese and olives are leftovers from taco salad that I've been trying to use up) Only ate half the salad, cuz I put too much dressing on it and it was too strong. Also had 3 garlic bread sticks. For supper had a sandwich with a sandwich spread I made for my husbands lunches. Ate it on 2 slices of wheat bread. Also had a slice of motzorella cheese, and a 1 oz. pkg. of plain potato chips. Had a glass of skim milk with lunch and supper. Had an apple in the afternoon. Had a couple glasses of ff choc. milk and ate 2 cups of sugar free choc pudding made with skim milk. (YES, I ate the whole thing!) A person can't go too wrong with a snack that has no fat or sugar. Did 3 sets of 25 situps, only got in 18 pushups, and did my side stretches. Kept moving about all day. MY husband started working 3rd shift last night, so my biggest meal will probably be at noon and will probably have a salad at night. This may turn out to be a good thing. And my water? I need to get back at that.........
ChinaDoll_888 03-14-02, 10:51 AM Your meals sounds so yummy! Salad is always good for you ... and you're doing so good on your exercises! Keep up the good work and you'll keep losing and losing ...
maximum 03-14-02, 11:27 AM :snow: So its a bit chilly ay!
What was I thinking......Ok, So Color me Stupid!
And your right I forget about the weather, I wish it were colder here......Would like to wear layers of clothes for a while longer.
How are them Piggies?
I felt a little depressed yesterday, but I think it was my own fault because I didn't keep moving. Only got my situps done. My husband started his 3rd shift job, and I think I was feeling a little sorry for myself. :c( But today I feel much better. I need to be counting my blessings and keep on movin. I did chores yesterday and had my supper meal at noon. Thought maybe that was why I was dragging (big meal in the middle of the day) but I was just blah. It's especially hard on me when I have things I know need to be done and procrastinate. Nothing big needed done that couldn't wait, but it just works on me as long as I know its there to do. I had 4- 1 inch meatballs, 1/2 baked potatoe with meatball gravy on it, and quite a few oriental vegetables. Had an 8 oz glass of milk with it. Also had 2 cups sugar-free pudding, an apple, a diet coke, and for supper had a large lettuce salad with shredded mexican cheese, tomato, croutons, and thousand island dressing. Also had 3 cheese bread sticks. Had my usual ff choc. milk before bed. Well, I'm off to work! Happy Friday everybody!!
Had a better day today. Had a small amount of beef and noodles, 2 slices of wheat toast, and oriental vegetables. For supper I had a large salad with cheddar cheese, croutons, and tomato. had a glass of skim milk, 2 glasses of ff choc. milkand 1/2 bag of popcorn. Did my exercises.
OK, earlier today I posted yesterday's food. Forgot to mention the blue cheese dressing on the salad. Today had a salad with tomatoe, croutons, cheddar cheese and thousand island dressing. Had sugar free choc pudding made with ff milk. 2 apples in the afternoon. Supper was a vegetable cheeseburger and 8 cheese balls. Had a skim milk with lunch and a diet coke with supper. Did my exercises today. Will probably have a ff choc. milk before bed like always. Last sun. was my bad day, so I am going to promise myself I will post everything I eat tomorrow. It will keep me in line! lol I'm hoping to see a good weight drop by Wed. this week.
maximum 03-18-02, 12:04 PM Looks like you stayed on Program this weekend.
Gosh, so proud of you. You incourage me......:rose:
Yesterday I skipped the exercises and still haven't done them today, but will get back at them tomorrow. Felt like I needed a break. Had a piece of banana bread after church. Had some grilled club steak, a baked potato with butter and sour creme, and mushrooms cooked in butter for dinner yestereday. Didn't eat supper, exactly, but snacked on 1 1/2 pkg of potato chips, cheese, sugar free pudding, cookies, and a little debbie. Didn't overdo, but sure didn't eat healthy at all. Today at noon I had a piece of club steak, a hash brown, 2 eggs, and a slice of toast. Also had a skim milk yesterday and today. Haven't decided on supper yet. with my husband working 3rd shift, I may just have a salad or something. Oh, also had a lemon bar for lunch. Looks like I better stick to a salad tonight! I was gonna to work hard not to eat any junk all weekend, but I failed. Oh well.....on with the week.
Well, like I said, no exercise yesterday, but I did my side stretches in the nursery this morning while I was scraping pits.(It's automatic, just flip the switch) I promise myself to do my situps and pushups before lunchtime today. Yesterday I had a big lunch, and that's how it will be from now on, because hubby is working 3rd shift. Had a salad with shredded cheddar cheese, croutons, and blue cheese dressing for supper. also had a skim milk. Before bed had my ff choc. milk and a little debbie cake thingy. I have had to allow myself a little something sweet, because if I didn't, i was going to binge on something sweet. Yesterday, I went to the grocery store and on the way there, I was thinking, "I sure would like to buy a big bag of chocolate stars and eat em all. What the heck." But I didn't. So, I feel kinda good that I stayed in control. Woops, also had an apple last eve. I really think I have been looking and feeling thinner the last couple of day. I weigh in tomorrow, so I hope I have lost a couple more lbs. If not, my clothes are sure looking looser all the time. I never used to be one to weigh myself, because I always went by the way my clothes fit, but I finally had to do that at the beginning of this "JOURNEY", or I don't think I would have actually done anything about my weight...other than maintain, so my clothes would fit and I wouldn't have to go to a bigger size. Just an extra little tidbit today.....
Jode, sounds like you are really building a great perspective that you can maintain for the rest of you life afterall what good is a diet if we eat food we hate then go off it and gain. I know you will make it. I am especially proud of turning down the starz as I love them too. Keep up the great work and keep us all posted

Lizzie B 03-19-02, 12:45 PM Hi Jode,
You got your new little piggies!! I bet they are so cute!! Like I told you before I would have a 1000 more pets! Isn't that awful I love animals too much!!
Congratulations on your continued efforts to lose and exercise. Sounds pretty consistent to me. You will be at goal in no time. You are one active person. Be proud of yourself for turning down the stars!! I don't know if I would have been so strong on second thought yes I would!! You made a comment back a few posts about feeling good enough to tend to your flowers this years cause last year you didn't care. That really struck a cord with me cause as much as I love my flowers and garden last year I didn't care as much either. But this year I am really looking forward to taking care of them and having some enjoyment out of my flowers. Hope this doesn't sound to silly but working in my garden and flowers is very peaceful to me and I enjoy it so much.
Something about seeing something grow!
Well Jode keep up the good work you are doing so well!!
Have a special day!
Love and hugs,
Lizzie
OK>>>get this. Yesterday I'm thinking, man my body looks different...it is looking so good! And I'm thinking, man my jeans are looser today. And today I get on the scale and I am up 2 lbs.!!!! Surprise Jodeany....you ain't yet teany. Oh well, just goes to show how the body and the scale are two seperate entities. It's real nice to see the scale go down, but ya never know when it's gonna stab ya in the back! haha The body, on the other hand, is what ya live in and that's what tells the real loss. I have had some treats, but not so much to put on weight. Must be water...or a little constipation, maybe? Anyway..I was kinda bummed this morning when I saw that number, but this afternoon reality is back. MY PANTS are LOOSER and my BODY looks better....so Don't worry...be happy. We all get to have a turn to see that scale backstab once in a while. It's also one of the days where ya have to look and see where you started....appreciate where you are today....and go on. Wish I had some other words to get you to realize that this isn't a major defeat of any kind. Not a setback. I'm smiling here, cuz for some reason I think God's after my attention again....and it's personal, but I know why. shoot, can't get my smiles to work, but I'd have to put a hen here today....you know how old hens are. They skwak and think things about other people sometimes.. The attitude of "I'm sure glad I don't"...... Get my drift? Have a great day everyone. I AM!!!!!!
....or is your attitude about your problem your problem? Now think about this a minute. This is all about dread. When we dread working out, dread eating right, dread anything....that's ends up being a self fulfilling prophecy sometimes...and we dwell so much on what we dread, that we're miserable all day long. That's why we have to do what we need to do for this day and be happy while we're doing it. We should be happy we have the ability to work out, (some people don't you know). We need to be happy while we're eating the right foods to lose weight, (some people don't have any food), we have to be happy while we're doing our housework today, (some people don't have houses to clean), and on and on it goes. If we think we have weight to lose and think we will have trouble doing it, we will! I want to be happy where I am today with who I am today. That way I can go on and do the things that need to be done. Anyway. Yesterday I had a whopper jr. with cheese, 4 motzorella sticks, 2 diet cokes, a pkg of sugar free pudding (GONNA QUIT DOING THAT AND BE HAPPY I DON'T NEED IT) 3 bread sticks and a cupcake. GONNA QUIT THE SWEETS TOO>>>>MAKES ME WANT THEM EVERYDAY!!! Oh, had my ff choc milk. Gonna keep having that before bed. Positive thinking is the only way to go. It's not that I can't have it, I don't want it. My own pep talk for the day.
maximum 03-21-02, 12:08 PM I think I will print out your last entry and tape it to my wall and read it everyday. That was nice... Thanks for you thoughts.....:rose:
Had a good day yesterday. Stayed out of the bars and little debbies. For lunch had a garden salad with some ripe olives, a tomatoe, motzorella cheese, and croutons. Had 3 garlic bread sticks for a snack. Also an apple and a handful of green grapes. For supper had a large taco salad with ripe olives, tomatoe, onion, cheddar cheese, dollup of sour creme, hot sauce, a soft shell burrito torn up on top and ff french dressing. Had my ff choc. milk before bed. Heard a woman on TV say if you need to lose weight just go do it. Don't dread having to lose weight...dread overeating. Good advice.
I forgot to journal that I ate 1/2 bag of popcorn yesterday. Also ate a whole bag today. All this talk on the popcorn thing has made me hungry for it again. lol. Anyway, yesterday had a taco salad for lunch, made about like the night before, but no ripe olives and had some blue cheese dressing on it. Had 1/2 and apple,(don't like these apples very good...they are too soft) and some grapes. A glass of ff choc milk before bed, and some diet cokes. I think that's all for yesterday...other than licking the bowl of some cherry bars I made for my family. Have to make something for my husbands lunch. Sometimes his blood sugar drops to low and he gets light-headed...so I need to make sure to send something sweet in his lunch. Thought about making oatmeal choc. chip cookies...but I like them too good. I know I would have a hard time staying out of them at this point. As a matter of fact, it's 7:16 am here, and they sound good now! Well, off towards another day. Two good days down.....I am thankful for that. I've let myself eat so much junk food lately, that I am having to start all over trying to get rid of those cravings. For me it's always sweets. I am in peri menopause and I read where vitamin B-Complex helps with cravings, and well as fatigue, anger and irritability, mood swings, Memory and concentration, and also a preventative against alzheimers disease, so I got a bottle that will last 4 months and am going to give it a try. I figure it will take at least ninety days for them to really work. What a blessing if it gets rid of all the bad junk I feel and helps as a preventative too. One thing about it...it never hurts to take vitamins. Just make sure you take the amount on the bottle and don't take more than it says. Vitamin overdose doesn't help them work better, and can actually cause more problems. Have a great weekend everyone. Will probably be gone from here till Mon. Morning.
For lunch yesterday had a large garden salad with tomatoe, cheddar cheese, croutons, blue cheese dressing. Had an apple in the afternoon. For supper had a piece of grilled sirloin steak, a small baked potato with sour cream and butter, (didn't eat it all). Had 2 glasses of skim milk with my meals and my ff choc milk before bed. Did extra pig chores so I could take Sunday off and took the poodle for a walk down to the pond because it was so warm here....tomorrow we'll be into winter again with temps in the 30's, wind, and are even talking snow. yucky!!
I'm just giving myself a little pat on the back today for staying on my program all weekend. It has been my goal to do that for several weeks and I finally made it. Earlier last week, I had to make up my mind again to stay out of the sweets. I had started having something about everyday. And when I start getting into sweets, for some reason I also started overeating at meals. Then my scale said I put on 2 pounds last week and that shocked me back into reality, I guess. Those 2 lbs. are gone and almost another one. I can feel it is going to stay off this time, too, because I'm determined to stay on program. Now, I read a post by Joanne on motivation....maybe in the motivation section?... that said it m |
