Today is the day(Feb 26,2002)!!! I am gonna quit kidding myself and get my act together. I am gonna start today and not end until I am at my goal!!
My starting weight is 235 and my goal weight is 140(I think) I haven't been even close to that in so long I forget what it looks like.
I thought it would be a great idea to start a journal so that way I will have some sort of record of what I am doing right and what I need to improve on.
If anyone has any advice please feel free to help.
This is the beginning of a great day

bpeddie,
Hi. I too started a journal today. My goals are the same as yours. I started on Jan. 30th at 235, now at 229, heading for 140. I am older than you though, 47 yrs. old. I started my journal to make myself more accountable. Would also like someone to e-mail if you are interested. I need a lot of pushing to get me going, but am also good at kicking butt to get someone moving. We can do this. Let me know if you are interested in e-mailing. My addy is: Weily47@hotmail.com Good luck on your quest. Weily :coach:

Good for you for starting a journal. It's definately kept me in place for a month now. And everyone here is wonderful with their support and kind words.
You asked for advice? Here we go: Drink lots of water!!!! Try drink 1/2 ounce for every pound you weigh. It sounds like a lot but once you get used to it it's ok. It really helps you get full during meals.
Also, read everyone else's journals. Not only do they inspire you when you're feeling down, but you can get lots of good ideas. Lindasue gave me the water idea, Drazile mentioned using low fat crackers as salad croutons, .....the list goes on and on! Just to see how everyone else is going at it is a real help.
Good luck to you! I'll looking out for your posts!

Welcome to dietalk. I love keeping a journal on here. It keeps me honest with what I do and eat in a day. :D I see you eat kale. I haven't had that since I was a kid. How do you cook it? I would love to have it again.
Have a great day.

Cooking kale is really easy- you can either buy it fresh or in a bag. Just wash it off and depending on how big you want you pieces you may need to cut them. Then I just put them in a big pot and add some water bring them to a boil for about 2 minutes and then pour off that water. this will help get rid of that bitter taste. Then I put them back in the pot add some onion and chicken broth and let them cook until the stems are tender. That's all there is to it. I also put a little vinegar on mine>YMMMMMMMM. Ok lets stop talking about food it makes me hungry!
I will have to update my journal later today i don't have much time now! Till then
:o
Brandy:
Mmmmm you bring back some pleasant childhood memories of mine. The lady who lived next door to me was an awesome cook. And I remember eating Kale there. Her daughter and I were best friends and I loved going there for supper. In fact now that I have been thinking of it she used to make chicken soup that was to die for. And I do have the recipe so Im going to make some tommorrow for supper.
Thanks a lot for the recipe and the memories.
