I will eat my fruit when the others are having desert. I do plan on eat eating some of the foods I like. I plan to stay away from the desert table. I hope I gave you afew of my Ideals . We are human:) All we can do is take one day at a time! One meal at a time! Today I can do this. ;)
You know what I plan on doing for Thanksgiving? I plan on eating what I want! I plan on making sure that on my plate there are more green beans than cornbread dressing.. more turkey than mashed potatoes & gravy... and I'm gonna try that sugarfree pumpkin pie recipe somebody posted...and maybe a nice fruit salad. I'm NOT going to deny myself And then I'm going to join my brothers and cousins in some front yard football for exercise! (I may come back with a broken arm, but at least I won't gain weight!)

Julie, that sounds like a great idea to me. I'll do enough bike riding and running around to make up for it, and Thanksgiving comes but once a year. So does Christmas, but the food then seems to last forever!

Thanks Angelmom. It will help out a lot. I'm not big into the dressing and stuff. Usually when it comes to Thanksgiving, I'm a turkey/veggie/eggs/bread/mac-n-cheese kind of girl. I'm a very picky eater. But maybe after I go and eat, and everyone goes to take a nap, I'll go for a walk around town. My grandparents live in town so It will keep me occupied instead of sleeping right away and letting it sit there doing nothing.

It must be a good think that we don't celebrate Thanksgiving in Australia, lol... Good luck to you all! :D

I'm going to Julie's house for Thanksgiving!
Dinner is at our house every year so I can control (?) what is on the menu and how it is prepared. I strive to make everything fresh and wholesome without sacrificing too much tradition: steamed green beans instead of creamed, homemade cranberry sauce instead of canned, baked yams instead of "candied" (oh you get the picture), but I also do the traditional stuffing (not in the bird however), mashed potatoes and gravy, etc. for those in the family who can't imagine Thanksgiving without it. Fortunately, those things no longer tempt me and I'm not one of those "have to taste everything" kinds of cooks. I enjoy baking and do the pie-thing (3 kinds) but make sure every person leaves with the leftovers. YIKES!
Thanksgiving used to be a nightmare but as soon as I learned that I could consciously chose what I put into my mouth--and it took YEARS--I could relax and enjoy what the day was all about in the first place: being thankful for the bounty (not always food-related) in my life.

PS-- We play football too, Julie. It's "The Law" in my family (LOL).
