06/15/02- KNOW WHAT I NEED TO DO AND LOOSE- NOW JUST HAVE TO GET UP AND DO IT! DO NOT WANT TO GO ON ANY "FAD" DIETS BECAUSE THEY NEVER LAST! SO HERE GOES! THANKS ALL

Not doing real good. :( Weight is still the same, no change but need to get more motivated and committed. I know just as when I quit smoking I have to make up my mind, I must have some sort of hang up? Have walked some and gone bike riding some, but I know I am not pushing myself as I should. Counting calories is not my cup of tea but I am watching fat content. Open for suggestions??:o Have a nice night Debbie

Hello Debbie and welcome. first of all dont push too hard. go at your own pace. there is no magic in losing. and i agree no fad diets. it gotta be a lifestyle change you can live with.
it all boils down to healthy eating, exercise, portion control.
I am on ww and it is so easy to follow. i lost 32.5 pounds as of today(week 12). if you dont like counting calories maybe you should try something you will like. the ww points have everyhting figured in. its easy. well whatever works for you. have a good night.

Hi there Debbie~! Here's my 2 cents... I'd love to join WW but I can't afford it as a single mom. So I do the next best thing.. I log on to www.fitday.com and keep a food journal there. all I have to do is keep track of what and how much of it I eat and enter it in thier database and they figure out the nutritional value and calories for me and it's all free.
I don't think it's anyones "cup of tea" to keep track but this takes all the stress and worry out of it and you know where you are at.
I've managed to lose 21 pounds keeping track, and excercising and weight lifting and keeping a journal here and all the support I've found here I think it's a combination of everything.
You'll find what works for you just hang in there! and Welcome to Diettalk!:rose:

Thanks so much- What a great help you are. I am nnot a real self disiplined person so I find that if I have to REPORT to someone and track everything I do far better! I lost 50 lbs from Jan to Oct when my daughter maarried just because I made up my mind I wanted to be the mom of the bride in no more than a size 9!! I gained back 30 ? after I quit smoking, but its not from snacking, I believe it is just lack of drive like I had then. (I was a single momm then too!) that was in 95 so I kept it all off a long time!
I think DT will help me. Now I am going to be a First time Grandma and if I don't loose it I won't ne able to keep up with the little guy!!! We sure can't have that happen. I am getting inspired nby all that I have read and I can't stand myself in pictures :( Thanks for your support, it is greatly appreciated and I will check out the link you gave me as well. Glad to see you back here, and glad to be helping you any way we can. If you need more personal help, just hollar. You can get me on msn messenger if you want, or on yahoo, icq or aim for that matter. Just let me know and I will gladly be a diet buddy.

You don't have to worry about counting calories kiddo. Increase your veggie and fruit intake, and reduce the meat. Add more fish and chicken, and less red meats. You'll do just fine.

And.........the other thing is exercise. I don't care what you do, but you have to do something. 20 minutes, 3-4 times a week will make a huge difference. I like walking, and I do what I can. It's not a lot, but it's better than nothing. Also, weights or stretchy chords are great for strength training, easy to do and actually fun. And another good thing about it, they aren't that expensive either. You can get good equipment for little cost right at Wal-Mart in the sporting goods department.
