:) GOOD MORNING ALL AND WELCOME TO MY NEW JOURNAL:)
It's a beautifull day here again. I just love waking up to this kind of weather. I have a pretty hetic day planned today. Take my son to work, get groceries, my drs. appointment for my daughter, pick up daughter from school when she is done her exam. Get my exercising in. I bought another bargain yesterday. I got a thigh master brand new in the box for 50 cents.....lol. I know they are only 10 dollars new but this has never been used and it was only 50 cents. My exercise equipment is growing and I find the more I have the more variety I have in chosing what I will do for the day.
Plus I can't pass up a bargain.:)
Well must get my day started .................hope everyone else has a super fantastic one also.
Judy2 :rose: :rose:
ChinaDoll_888 06-20-02, 09:25 AM Awesome buy on that thigh master!! You are such a good shopper - always able to find a bargain! Have a beautiful day ahead! :rose:
MissChuckle 06-21-02, 06:15 AM Hey, a new journal. How exciting.
That thigh master sounds like a pretty good deal - how come it was so cheap?
I hope you enjoy your hectic day, and fit in some time just to enjoy the lovely weather.

Well it's offically the first day of summer. Oh how I wish it was summer year round. My most favorite time of the year. And especially this year as I can wear shorts without being embrassed by a belly that has rolls in it or legs that look like they should be surgically cut in half to look proper. I am so thankfull that I started this journey to a new healthier me in January. It was and still is a lot of hard work, will power and determination in order to feel secure enough that I look alot better this summer than any other summer for quite awhile. This summer I won't be wearing jeans or sweat pants to hide my body. Which means I won't be sweating to death with the heat.
Another busy day today. Take my son to work. Go and get the groceries I didn't get yesterday. I got side tracked cleaning out the garage......grrrrrrrr It really needed it but it was a 3 hour job and not one I had planned on doing. Then I have to go to work and we are having another BBQ at work tonight. Grilled chicken breasts and spinach salad. I like working with the 2 guys I am again today. There are normally 6 in my section but on Fridays there are only 3 of us. It just happens that I work with the same 2 if we have to work on a Friday. They are great guys and both are into healthy lifestyles. Which makes for great tips about execise and food. We always get into these conversations and I love learning what I can from them.

ChinaDoll_888 06-21-02, 12:42 PM Yay ... it feels good to be able to wear shorts huh? Did you go shopping for new shorts? Are there any good sales going on?
Just got home from work and I had a great night. Can't beleive I can even say that about work but we had so much fun. I worked with my two favorite people in my section and we had another BBQ tonight. Grilled Chicken breasts done to perfection. A spinach salad and watermelon for dessert. Beleive it or not this was the very first time I had spinach raw. It was delicious and I am sure going to make salads this way. We also talked all night about different foods and exercises that are good for our bodies. It's so interesting listening to these two guys as they know alot about healthy lifestyles. I came away from work tonight actually thinking WOW I LEARNED SOMETHING . :)
Also today hubby went out and got me another stair stepper. this one is different from the one I have already and I tried it out. I am still sore from it. It's much harder than the one I have and uses more upper leg muscles to work it. I am really feeling my upper thighs tonight.......lol By the way this one he also got at the good will store and it's hardly been used at all. I am thinking of opening my own gym shortly.
Miss Chuckles:
I get all my exercise equipment at the good will. I can't believe what people don't want. But I am not knocking it. I love a bargain and if someone doesn't want it then I am more than happy to pay 10 dollars for machines that would cost me hundreds if I bought them from a store for full price.
ChinaDoll:
I have only boughten 4 pairs of shorts so far. I will have to go out and buy more soon as the weather here is really warm. Will let you know if I find any sales. I am going to some garage sales tommorrow just to browse around. I love going to them as people get rid of so many great things at them and real bargains to be found.
Judy2 :rose: :rose:
ChinaDoll_888 06-22-02, 09:15 AM Hi, I tried making the pasta salad today and it tasted SOOOOO GOOOD! I can't believe it's so easy to make - tks for the recipe. You bet I'm going to eat that a lot for the next few weeks!
I love going to garage sales too when I was studying in SF. Used to hop out of the car before it comes to a complete stop! We don't have them here. We do have a few flea markets but now that I've been back soo long, I'm not really into 2nd hand stuff 'cos the Chinese thinks it's tainted with bad luck.
June 22, 2002
It's a bit overcast here today but the major humidty is gone due to the storm we had last night. Hopefully it won't rain again till tonight. This type of weather is really playing havoc with my daughter's breathing for the first time in her life. Have taken her to the doctors as she is having trouble on the soccer field with her breathing. She is complaining that her chest actually hurts after running a few minutes. So we are now investigating the fact that she could have asthma or has allergies that affects her. He has prescribed a sports puffer and another turbuhaler to see if this will help. I have talked to a number of parents whose kids seem to be having the same problems this year. I think our enviroment and the air we breathe is definelty a factor. The smog warnings here have been up for the past couple of weeks. Hopefully we can come up with some answers soon as having this problem is affecting the way she plays and that is making her unhappy in her performance. I really am against having my daughter on inhalers but I also don't want to see her in any kind of distress either. As a kid I had to take shots twice a week for allergies and it was no fun. I eventually grew out of it but there are certain times of the year when I need to take medicine for it. My son also has allergies and if I remember correctly he was about 14 when he started to have problems. He is fine now so maybe this has something to do with growing. I dunno for sure.
We are going to a game this afternoon. So will see how she does in it. The coach is well aware of what is going on with her breathing and will pull her off the field with the least sign of trouble.
Some of the people I work with will also be at the game today as it's one of the few games where they play at home on a weekend that no one has to work today. So last night a bunch were talking and they want to see this team in action. LOL......I felt like they were talking about going to watch a world cup game. They are really into soccer and most know Laural and want to cheer her on. It's a nice feeling to hear others prasie your child and you haven't had to say a word.
I have been reading quite a few journals on here where we all seem to be or have been in a rut lately. I have really been thinking about this and wondering why. I also have noticed the ones in a funk as I like to call it all started about the same time. Hmmmmm makes me wonder what has changed since we first started. I have come up with the following.
1. We aren't losing as fast as when we first started.
2. Daily routines in exercise seem to be the same.
3. Food variety seems to be the same.
4. Calorie intake varies little
5. Most that have lost a good chunk of weight seem to be struggling with the last few pounds.
6. None of us are giving up as we won't gain back what we have lost.
7. Days when we have a cheat food as I like to call it are getting more frequent though.
8. However we are still exercising so the cheats we do are having no effect on our weight.
So I have decided I am going to change a few things in my routine.
1. I am going to start to look for foods to eat that I have never tried before. A good example was last night eating spinach raw. Also have heard of a spring mix that I want to try. Heard it's delicious just is something I never thought about trying before.
2. I am going to try different spices on foods when I cook them. I love chicken breasts but they do get boring after awhile fixed the same way.
3. As for exercising I am going to do one or two of my machines a day not all of them. And I am taking 2 days a week where I won't do machines but maybe just go for a nice long walk or a bike ride.
4. On my non exercise days I am going to pamper myself. A nice long soak in the tub, a haircut, a massage, read a book won't really care what it is as long as it relaxes me.
5. Enjoy being the weight I am right now. I don't know about everybody but I still see myself as FAT. I look at pictures of where I was in January and I look now and yes I see a difference. But truthfully in my head I still think I look the same as before. And yes people tell me all the time how great I look now but it only registars for a few minutes and then it's gone. Not sure why but I think it has to do with the insecurtites of being heavy for a long time. This is a part of me I really have to work on.
6. Stop getting on that dam scale of mine every morning.
These are just a few things I am going to try for myself. I will never go back to where I was when I began this journey but I also don't want to feel guilty everytime I do or don't do something. I have learned so much since beginning this trek and I just wish the insecurities that creep in at times would go away for good.
Well think that is enough venting for now........lol
Have a great day all.
Judy2:rose: :rose:
Well today started off great. Got on my new stair stepper and was really getting a great workout when BAM.....I pulled a major muscle in my right leg. Yowers it hurts like the dickens. I can't bend it without PAIN PAIN PAIN So right now I am limping like crazy and iceing it. I limped out to the soccer field to watch Laural play and thank goodness the new inhaler seems to be working. She had no problem today and I was really worried as the smog was thick here. It was hot and humid just the condition she has been having trouble with. But today she was fine. They won the game 3-0. An excellent game played by both sides.

ChinaDoll_888 06-23-02, 09:17 AM Sorry to hear abt your leg muscle! You must take it easy for the next few days and make sure you've recovered before you start to exercise.
That's great that Laurel is doing well with the new inhaler. I hope the smog will go away soon.
Have a good Sunday! :rose:
June 24,2002
I have to say that I had a very emotional time last night at work. One of my favorite co-worker is having a rough time in his marriage. I feel badly for him as he is a very nice guy. So talented and a really sweet person. He has just sold a script he wrote that is to be made into a movie within a year. Right now he should be on top of the world but he's not. This is going to sound bias but he really doesn't deserve what is happening right now. Everyone that knows him and his wife cannot for the life of us understand how she can be this way. I really think she is jealous of his upcoming success. She writes also but nothing compared to the way he does. I have read things from both of them and truthfully her writing puts me to sleep. On the other hand his stories and plays have you where you can't wait to find out what happens next. If the success was happening to her he would support her fully and be genuiely happy for her. She can't do this for him and thus is making his life miserable in every way that she can. It's such a shame as he is going to leave even though he really doesn't want to but has to for his own well being. So last night he talked and talked to myself and another co-worker in my section. I am really glad he feels he can confide in us as going through a rough time alone is no fun at all. I also realized last night that in my section we are fotunate enough never to judge or critize each other but just support each other. I also recongise the fact that he isn't without flaws....I just wish they could work things out. O well life isn't always fair or just in this world and we live with what we are given and the choices we make. I only pray that whatever lies ahead for both of them will somehow work out so that they are both happy.
Today is a another great day here. Hubby has gone off to work and both the kids are still sleeping so I have "me time". My leg isn't hurting as much as the last couple of days so hopefully resting it has been just what it needed. Four more days of work and then I am off for 9 days............Yipeeeeeeeeeeeee

I think I ate too much pasta salad ... lol ... I made some for tomorrow (that's 4 days in a row) and prob that will be the last in a while. I like it 'cos it's low cal and I can still eat a lot. So, I'm going to check out some ideas in the recipe section for any low cal meals.

Have to change my menu for tonight as I didn't eat the sandwich at lunch nor did I have the strawberries. But I did eat some delicious black cherries at work tonight.
Laural and her team played the toughest team tonight and they ended up tied 1-1. But I swear they were robbed and we have it on Video. We had a goal that the Ref wouldn't allow because his linesman was not in position. Even the goalie knew the ball was in as she yelled out to her teammates "sorry guys go get it back" Hmmmmm oh well this team they played was on the top of the Ontario League till tonight. They were throughly impressed with our team and we were impressed with them also. I love watching games like this. It's as good or better than the World Cup. But I'll say it again WE WERE ROBBED  No ref here to tell me to be quiet or I will have to leave the area......:tomato:
Im off to bed now it's almsot 1am here.
Judy2:rose: :rose:
Judy wowza
sounds like a crazy game. How do canadains get so much vacation time. Americans are lucky to get 2 weeks a year and really can't take it all at once.
CJ
Lol. I so envy people that have 155 as their goal weight. That's around where I'm at now, but I still need to lose 25 pounds! Can't I just stretch myself out, to make my weight appropriate for my height? Sigh. I found out that I'm actually almost a full 1 1/4 inch shorter than I thought I was! My parent's measured my height when I was there, and I'm SUPPOSEDLY only 5' 3/4". BAH.
Hey, isn't that lite bread great? We discovered that about 2 months ago, and have been paying the extra money for it ever since. I'll pay .40 more, for 40 cals off! Unfortunately, we find it gets moldy fast. I have no idea why this would mold any faster than regular bread. Hrm.. Where do you get your FF cheese slices? I can't find those at all. In fact, the only FF cheese I can find, is the shredded variety. I wouldn't mind being able to have cheese on my sandwiches, and I just don't think shredded cheese would do the trick!
What's spaghetti salad? I'm curious. Sounds yummy. I just read your food lists, and it looks like you don't eat much. How do you keep from being hungry all the time? I think I would be. What are your portions like? I hope they're hearty, because it doesn't seem like that much.
Have a great remainder of the week!
-Andrea-
ChinaDoll_888 06-26-02, 10:05 AM Judy, that's soo good that you reached your goal weight! Congrats! I'm so happy for you!
CJ:
I get 5 weeks a year for vacation. Mainly because I work for the post office. For every seven years you are there another week is added to your vacation time. Alot I work with are getting 8 weeks and 1 week pre-retirement leave. That's the max. but not bad considering most here only get the 2 weeks also.
Andree:
I love the lit bread also. It's worth the extra money. However I don't have the problem of it going moldy. It will stay for a week without any problem. What about putting yours in the fridge. It may last longer that way. I will send you the recipe for my spaghetti salad.
ChinaDoll:
It's not offical yet. One more day and then I will take the 155 :)
Judy2:rose: :rose:
ChinaDoll_888 06-26-02, 10:27 AM I wish we have lite bread here ... and you're so lucky you have so many weeks of vacation 'cos I was wondering how you seem to be going on leave all the time. I used to get 2 weeks but now I have 3 weeks which is a lot better.
I think you worked so hard, that weight is going to stay! Have a good day ahead!
Did you watch the game? Brazil just won the semi final against Turkey.
June 26,2002
Jess:
But of course I watched the game. :) Me and soccer go together like peanut butter and jam........
It finally rained here a bit this morning so I turned off the air conditioner. I would rather have a breeze coming in the house then the air going all the time. Two more days to work and then I am off yipeeeeeeeeeeee. Hope the weather is as nice so I can go swimming everyday.

I wondered why I had not been seeing your posts until I found your new journal. I have my fingers crossed for your weight to stay at 155. That is wonderful that you have got to goal. What will you do to celebrate. Sorry you hurt your leg and hope it is healing quickly for you.
Read the changes you plan to make and they sound good. I think you are right , we have to keep it new and interesting if we want it to last.
All the best
Nancy
Well it's offical I have reached 155. That was the goal I set for myself in Januray when I started this journey to a healthier me. You would think I would be sooooo happy getting to this weight. Well truthfully I am glad I only weigh 155 but it's still too much for me. :c( I am going to see how I feel though at this weight for awhile but I honestly think I need to lose another 10 pounds.

I had an awesome night at work. One of the guys I have worked years with retired. We are really going to miss him at the plant but he so deserves this time in his life for enjoyment. He brought in Fruit Flans for everyone and that's a lot of baking (for his wife that is.......lol) There are over 150 people on my shift so she must have baked all day. Plus we all had chipped in to get him a big cake and some fruit for those who don't want to eat cake. What a party we had going and it lasted right till the end of our shift. I was really thinking that tonight would drag on as it was the last one for me for 10 days.........yipeeeeeeeeeeee But it flew by quickly. So now I can sit back, put my feet up and enjoy 10 days of no routine to follow. I can go to bed when I want and get up when I want as there is no school for my daughter either so no need to be up at the crack of dawn. Aweeeeeeeee I am really going to enjoy this time off.:D
A few of the things I want to do though while I am off.
1. Continue to eat healthy
2. Exercise each day
3. Go to the BEACH
4. Read a few books
5. Go to the BEACH
6. Do some yard work.
7. Go to the BEACH
8. Take a long drive and enjoy the scenery
9. Go to the Beach

12. Take my kids and go pick cherries
13. Go to the Beach
14. Go and ride a horse(haven't done this in sooooooo long)
15. Go to the Beach
16. Have a picinic
And last but not least

I have to say without a doubt this is the life. I got up late this morning perked a pot of coffee and sat down in the lazy boy chair and watched a couple of game shows while I had 2 cups of coffee. Then decided to clean the kitchen floor, gave it a really good scrubbing and also did 3 loads of laundry. Went to the grocery store and picked up some fresh veggies and some fruits for later. I also made a big Tuna Macaroni Salad for hubby and the kids to munch on all day so no one says "what's for lunch?"
Took the dog for a nice long walk and popped the poor little guy out.
Hubby took Laural over to her cousins to spend the night and my son is working so it is nice and quiet here. I am going to BBQ later on this evening some chicken breasts but first I am going for a bike ride.

debrann63 06-29-02, 12:19 PM Judy congratulations on reaching your goal. You must be so proud of yourself (I know I would be if it were me). If you still feel you need to lose some more, set another goal. Nothing wrong with that.
I mainly came in to thank you for all the nice comments you leave in my threads. It is so motivating to have someone else give some encouragement. Thanks so much. :rose:

I got up this morning and hubby already had the coffee perked. Went outside and sat on the porch with him until he left for work. The house was extremely quiet as my son was at work and my daughter was at a sleep over. Oh the peace was heavenly. I threw on a workout tape and had a great time without worrying that I was going to wake someone up. Then I went outside and cut the front and back lawn. Weeded my garden and then took out the trimmer and did all around the fences. Laural called for me to come and get her from her cousin's. Then we went and picked up a few things at the grocery store. We needed some juices and I bought a seedless watermelon. Then I got ice cream for the kids and hubby. I say I got it for them as I bought the kind I don't like but they do so no chance of me eating it. However I did pick up some Fat Free Fudgesicles at 46 calories each for me. :D That's my treat this week. Laural and I had a nice afternoon watching the soccer match between Korea and Turkey. Then hubby came home and my son called for a ride home had to fix supper and well there went my quiet day.......lol
So after supper I went for a bike ride. A nice long one for a hour and a half. Well really a hour as I stopped and talked to a friend while I was gone. Still it was great getting another hour of exercise in.

So I'll never give up
Never give in
Never let a ray of doubt slip in
And if I fall
I'll never fail
I'll just get up and try again
Never lose hope
Never lose faith
There's much too much at stake
Upon myself I must depend
I'm not looking for place or show
I'm gonna win

Up at 6:30 am this morning to watch the world cup soccer championship. And that is the only reason I would get up that early on vacation.........lol
Went for a walk afterwards and did 6 miles. So quiet and peacefull I could have gone longer but had to take my son to work. He is doing a double shift today. And will do one tommorrow also. He is one heck of a hard worker and since everyone else wanted off for the holiday here he said sure. Came back from taking him and decided to go for a bike ride. Only did 2 miles as it was hot as heck out there. So I came home and collasped in the air conditioning. Then hubby wanted some help as he is re-doing his truck. I'm telling you men and their trucks. Granted it will look great when it gets done but honestly I have no patience for putting things back together. If it was up to me that truck would be missing a few bolts and springs becasue I would have tossed them rather than try and figure out where they went back in.
Laural and I went rollerblading down by the river for over a hour. It was cool there as lots of trees and there was a slight breeze blowing.
It's almsot time to fix supper and then later I am going for another bike ride. Going get these gams of mine in shape for sure.:)

StaceyJG1 06-30-02, 11:36 PM Judy,
What a weekend you've had! Sounds like you're really "relaxing" on your vacation!! I can't believe all the exercise you get in one day. Amazing!
Lindasue 07-01-02, 08:04 PM Busy lady you are. I love the peace in the morning too. My DH has to go to work early all week so the house is still from 4am on. I love it.
Well, i watched the soccer games too. They were very exciting.
Still havent gotten the rollerblades down yet. THis summer. I'm gonna figure it out.
Your menus look better to me. They are around where they should be in calories. Keep up the good work. :x

:bd HAPPY BIRTHDAY CANADA
It's a holiday here today and it's hot hot hot. In the shade the humidex was 44 celcius today.I am glad we have central air that's for sure on days like this. However I still went for a bike ride this morning and again this afternoon and will go for one tonight also.
My eating has been way off today as it's just too hot to eat.

I am low on calories so I just might splurge and have some icecream later tonight. :)
Hope everyone is surviving the heat.
Judy2:rose: :rose:
Another hot one today. I have already gone for my morning walk. It was hot but bearable at 6:30 am. Now I am just relaxing and taking it easy from the heat.
And last night I did have some ice cream.......Mmmmmmm not just any kind though I had a Hot Fudge Sundae. It's 370 calories but it was so good........lol I didn't eat real healthy yesterday except for the sub from Subway I loaded it with tons of veggies. I find it difficult to eat when the temperature is so high and the humidex is soaring. Today is going to be just as bad but I have made some salads for today which are always good in the heat and I am going to run to the store and pick up some fruit to make a nice big fruit salad. This afternoon I am going to the BEACH....and I am going to stay there till early evening. Taking Laural and a couple of her friends so it will be a good time. Some beach volleyball is in order for today.
I will post later what I have to eat .........for now I am going to get things ready to take with us for the beach. Might even pack our rollerblades and do that as it's always cooler by the water.
Have a great day everyone.

ChinaDoll_888 07-02-02, 12:18 PM Hi Judy, just wanted to let you know that I thought aqua aerobics was so much fun. It wasn't very strenuous and it's so much easier to work out in water!
Sounds like you've got a perfect day planned! Have a great day!

I am so glad you liked your water aerobics class. It's alot of fun and great exercise on top. You will see just how fast you get toned doing it. :)

My computer went down last night the CPU went in it according to DH. So he gave me one of his shop machines till he can get mine fixed. Thank god we have so many computers in this house.lol I won't be getting mine back till the end of the week most likely as he is swamped with work till the weekend.

Happy Independence Day Everyone :)
First off let me say what a great time I had at the beach yesterday. If I ever had a choice as to where I want to live the beach is defintely my first choice. Walking along the beach in my bare feet and letting the water slpash on me is one of the best feelings in this world. I can walk for miles like this. And trust me yesterday I did.............lol We got there at around 11 am and stayed till 9:30 pm. Not even Laural and her friends wanted to leave. WE played volleyball and when they got hot or tired we went in the water to cool off. Here we can walk out for at least a half mile and still only be knee deep due to the sand bars. As long as this great weather holds up we are going back on Saturday.
Not much planned for today as Laural has a soccer game tonight. So I will take advantage and do groceries and maybe some laundry today. Hubby is almost finished with the truck and that will keep him busy I am sure all day. He took today off to finish it but now he will work on Saturday. I can't believe the difference already in the looks of it. He really has done a super job.
I have no clue what I will eat today until I go to the grocery store. But I am going to pick up more fruits for another fruit salad. It's so easy and so good to grab a cup of it out and have with a meal.
I will update my journal later but for now I am off for my morning walk.
Judy2 :rose: :rose:
I LOVE the beach. The ocean is my first love. I would love to get back to it. My dream is to live near enough to the ocean someday, that I could walk to it. Of course, that'd probably cost an arm and a leg, but...what's money to happiness? You must have been a good girl, and slathered that sunscreen on, because I don't see reports of a sunburn! This is good.
Whatcha going to do for the 4th? Oh...you live in the US, right? For whatever reason, I'm all scatter brained, and I forgot. Sorry! Any special plans for today, regardless?
Glad to see you're happy and doing so well. :) Fruit salad sounds yummy!
-Andrea-
Doh! If I had just scrolled up an ity bit, I would have seen that you're from Canada! See, I knew that deep down, but I haven't eaten breakfast today, so, I'm a little light headed and out of it. Hope you do something neat for yourself today, anyway! :)
-Andrea-
Lindasue 07-04-02, 01:56 PM Sounds like such a great time at the beach. And so cool that you could run around with Laural and her buddies and have a great time! Enjoy your day. :x

The heat wave has finally broken. It's beautifull outside today not humid and sticky but so nice. I took my son to work and then dropped off my daughter at her friends house. They are going to see the Canadian Men's team play soccer tonight. They are so excited about the game. Go figure invite my kid to a soccer game and she gets goose bumps.......lol I visited with my friend for a couple of hours and the girls were swimming. Laural will spend the night and then the girls will come here and we will take them to soccer practise tommorrow afternoon. So tonight hubby and I will have the house to ourselves for a bit.
By the way I have my computer back up and running...........yipeeeeeee. Even though I wasn't without one I still like having my own in my computer room. We all have a room in the house that we can call our own. I never had one before but I am glad I do now as I can escape to my room as I call it and do my own thing. I can write poetry if I choose, exercise, get on my computer and no one will bother me while I am in here. It's my own little place to get away from everything if I choose and sometimes I really choose to escape to my own little peace on earth.......:D

What a shock I got this morning when I stepped in the shower. NO WATER Nothing nada zip zilch. I tried every faucet in the house and all I got was air. So not to be upset on a Saturday morning I decided to go and get a couple of coffee's from the local donut shop for hubby and myself. As I am closing the front door I noticed a sign from the city stating Sorry for the inconvience but due to tieing into a new sub division your water will be off from 7am till 5pm.X-( Ok nothing like some notice here people. For crying out loud it's Saturday everyone is home and we have no water for the day. Like duh how are we to wash, flush toliets and eat let alone I need my water for drinking.Hubby is the only one not fuming as he is going to work and will be home again when the water is turned back on.
Ok think quick here Judy we need water at least to flush the toliet. So I grab every concievable container and go to a friends and start filling up there. Whew we are ok for flushing and have a bit for washing up. So who cares if dishes get done till later.....
Other than the small panic attack of having no water I had a great day.........

Oh, no! I'm sorry your vacation time is almost out :(. I hate that. For me, I get a little sick feeling. Do you dislike your job, or just dislike the prospect of having to work again? I found coming back from vacation is a lot more bearable when I enjoy my work.
Sorry to hear about the water situation. I would have been ticked! It was clever of you to grab some water for a friend's to get the necessities taken care of. What a smart cookie! Yeay for having it back today!
Sounds like a great meal plan for the day. What would you recommend as a substitue for fish? I've never liked seafood much, but understand that it's probably one of the best protien sources I could get while dieting. Is chicken just as healthy as fish?
BTW, what do you put in your salads? I see you eat them a bit, and I'm looking for some variation in my vegetable intake. I bet you make some awesome salads. Care to have company for dinner? I've been dying to go to Canda! ;)
Hugs!
-Andrea-
Andree:
I eat alot of chicken breasts no skin also as it is very good in protein. Fish is good becasue of the fat grams and proteins. I can't have seafood though becasue I am allergic to it. But fresh water fish is ok. Not sure why but it has never bothered me to eat fresh water fish.
As so my salads. I do eat a lot of them. I tried a new kind called Spring Mix. It has Spinach, dandelion greens and leaf lettuce and a couple of other things in it. I add onions, tomatoes, cucumbers and radishes and use a FF Itialian Dressing.
I also like to make Spinach salad with carrot, red onion, radishes, cucumbers, tomatoes and toss with a Balsmaic Vinegar Dressing.
Or better yet a Greek Salad with some Feta Cheese in it and some black olives.
I also do a pasta salad. I cook pasta drain and rinse in cold water and add Itialian Dressing. zuccini, cucumbers, green onion, green and red peppers. Put it in the fridge at least 2 hours before eating so it's nice and cold. My kids love this one the best.
As far as my job goes. I like the people I work with alot and the job is interesting. 99% of the time I look forward to going back. But this year my daughter is playing soccer for a top team and going back means I am going to miss her games again. I throughly enjoyed being able to take her to her games and practises this week. Plus the fact I got to see her everyday for the full day makes a difference to me. Since I work afternoons I miss alot of time with her especially when she is in school. I think I would probably go nutso if I had to stay at home all the time but on the other hand I resent the fact I miss out on a lot of her growing up. Grrrrrrrrrrr is nothing ever simple? Owell such is life.
And your welcome for supper anytime you come to Canada.

I spent all of yesterday running around in the Van. Took my son to work, run to the grocery store, the bank, come home jump in the shower and then run my daughter to the coaches home and then pick up a co-worker and off to work.Whew I was tired before I got to work.......lol First night back was ok but very busy. We had a change in our section and we were suppose to get 2 more people to help out. Well this isn't working just like we told them it wouldn't. Out of 8 people only 4 were in last night and that's the way it will be till September. We have one's on holidays and 2 who are lent out to our sections till Sept. So now we have extra jobs and less people then before........Duh!!!!!!!! And then management wonders why we have to borrow in people to help us out. It didn't take a rocket scientist to figure this out before they did this change. Sometimes you have to wonder why they would pay someone to totally screw up a section that was working perfectly. Other than that it was great seeing everyone again.
After work was no better last night for the running around bit. At 1am I picked up my son who worked 14 hours yesterday and then made the call to my daughter's coach as to how close are you guys to London. "Wellllllllllll there was heavy construction in Toronto so we are running at least a hour and a half behind schedule." Yikesssss this means 2am before she gets back from the game and wowers it's on the other side of town so I won't get home to bed till 3am at the earliest. Owell what we don't do for our kids. So here I am at 2am waiting in a parking lot on the other side of town with another parent for our kids to come in from a game. And can you beleive it neither one of us thought to ask what the score was!!!!!!!! Finally the bus pulls in and off troups the team very tired but happy. They won 2-0. I will bet Laural sleeps half the day away. :)
I have only slept 4 hours and the day is starting for me so there is no chance of catching anymore shut eye.....I know bed will feel great tonight.

Your truly a inspiration.....................(((HUGS))))
angelhug 07-09-02, 05:37 PM Hi Judy!
Whats going on with your water? Its terrible there are so many problems with the water, why?
My aunt lives in Montreal, and when we visit her, she wont let is put toilet paper in the toilet, not even for number 2. 8-|
We have to put it in a garbage under the sink.
I wish I lived in Canada, I love the cold weather!
I read an article on Compuserve, that said the key to a healthy long life is eating Greek Food.
I am the only person who posted recipes in the Vegitarian Section. I posted a few Armenian Recipes.
Greek food is similar to Armenian food.
Youre hecka busy!!! Its fantastic!
I always have to keep busy too, otherwise I either sleep or eat compulsively.
I have been like a headless chicken recently, actually for the past 2 weeks! Too much disorder in the house, painting, cleaning etc...! Its taking forever. And the carpets we ordered take 2 weeks to arrive to from Home Depot. So we have carpetless bedrooms for 2 weeks. I just hope they get here in time for my aunt who is visiting from Canada at about the same time!
So I am finally able to get on track and write in your journal instead of you always posting in mine! I felt self centered!
Youre my idol Judy! One day I will reach my goal just like you did! Watching you maintaining your weight step by step is extremely helpful and motivating.
Maximum:
Thanks for checking in. You have been MIA for a bit girl. Glad to see your back.
Angelhug:
The water situation here is ok. Just apparently the lab they had hired to check it wasn't doing one of the tests required and put everyone into a bit of a panic. I know a lot of people who won't put toilet paper in the toliets. I am really not sure why as there is no reason not to. We do it........lol
I am going to have to check out the vergetarian section of recipes and see what recipes you have posted.
I have been so busy lately thats it's almost impossible to keep up with everything on here. Once summer dwindles down I will have more time.I am flattered that I am helping you to reach your goal. And if there is anything I can do more please ask. I got so much help from everyone here that I can only hope I can help someone else too. Hope your carpet comes in:)
Have a great day.

ChinaDoll_888 07-10-02, 11:20 AM Hi Judy, how's it going? You sound really busy! Hope everything's going alright. Way to go on all the exercise you've been doing!
Great diet, and sounds like you've been insanely busy! Geesh, woman! I run out of breath just reading your journal! Well, that's why you're at your goal weight, and I'm still a good 30 pounds from mine! ;)
Um... if they don't put toilet paper in their toilets....whered do they put it? They're at least using it, right? That scares me a little. :)
Have a great day, and try to work a little relaxation in there. :)

July 11, 2002
I have had a busy couple of days. Seems either I have more to do or being back at work has really thrown me off this week. However I think it's all the running around I have had to do lately is more the case.:) I have decided that I need to win the LOTTO so that I can hire a chauffer for my kids, a maid for the housework, a chef for the cooking, a secretary for all my appointments such as the bank and just general running around paying the bills. It's either that or would someone please get in touch with whoever decided that 24 hours in a day was enough and have them change it to lets say 36 hours in a day.
I really shouldn't complain too much as when I came home last night my daughter had the house cleaned........Yeahhhhhhhhhhh she had even washed the floors in the kitchen and bathroom. Hmmm wonder what she is up to......lol
I can't beleive how much it has cooled off here today. I am going to go for a bike ride shortly and I am trying to decide if I need a long sleeved shirt or not. I want the warm weather back!!!!!!!!

Where do they put it.........lol Most I know put their toliet paper in a waste basket and then throw it out with the garbage. I find this gross but I do know a lot who do this.
ChinaDoll_888 07-11-02, 11:36 AM That's so nice that Laurel help clean the house! That was thoughtful of her.
Congrats on another lb loss! Are you trying to maintain or continue to lose?
I agree abt putting the tp in the waste basket ... I went to China last year and one of the shop we stopped by do that. It was so disgusting!
Lindasue 07-11-02, 12:02 PM Just a quick hello. I don't get much time to browse the journals... I need to schedule this in. You are doing great, as i figured you would. Laural is a cool Kid!! Cleaning the house was such a sweet thing for her to do. How's your little soccer star doing these days? :x

Have been away for a couple of days with soccer. What else.........lol We drove to Sudbury Ontario yesterday which is a 7 hour drive one way for a game. And if your thinking I'm nuts to do this I am without a doubt a fruitcake...... Then right after the game we drove back 7 hours. I am stiff and sore today from all the sitting on my rear. However the drive was beautifull. I have never been to that part of Ontario before and most of the route was breath taking. One day I would like to go back just for a vacation where I could stop and see the sights and trully enjoy the drive.

I slept in this morning which was great in one way as I really needed it and in another was terrible. Had to really rush to get my son to work this morning. Then stop at the grocery store and pick up a few things. Especially Chicken Breasts as they are on sale. I will have to go again though as I bought out what the store had at the time......:D I love chicken breasts and the fact that they are so good for you is a bonus.
My daughter is getting all excited as this is the week for THE ONTARIO SUMMER GAMES . They have their outfits now as to what they wear at the opening ceromonies. It is so much fun watching her face light up each time someone mentions the games. She has worked hard for this moment and I am sure it will be just one of many to come for her but this is the biggie for right now.

I cook my chicken all different ways. Either I bake it in the oven, boil it or BBQ it. Plus I add all kinds of different spices so it tastes different. My favorite is to marinate the chicken breast in Fat Free Itialian Dressing overnight and bbq it. Mmmmmmmm

Another beautifull day out there. But it's going to be another hot one so everyone take care of themselves. Drink plenty of water and stay COOL
It's getting to be real hectic around here as the Ontario Summer Games starts TOMMORROW. My daughter is hyped for sure........lol It's all she has thought about for so long and now they are almost here. So inevitably I will be gone for a few days to watch the games. Not only soccer but all the other sports as well. And truthfully I can't wait till that kid of mine comes walking out in the opening ceromonies. My eyes well up just thinking about it so I know I will be one proud blubbering Mom tommorrow night. I will have tons of pictures and will post a few when this is all over and done with. These girls are heading into some of the toughest comepetition they have ever faced. And no matter the outcome I am soooooooooooooo proud of them. They worked so hard to come this far. In my eyes and the eyes of the other parents of this team these girls are second to none.

Haven't seen you in chat lately, and I'm sure it's because you and your daughter are so busy getting ready for the exciting events looming so close.
You must be so excited for her, and so proud of her, and I know that if I were in your shoes right now, I'd feel exactly the same. Maybe you better take a roll of paper towels with you to the games. I doubt a simple box of tissues will be enough to contain your tears of pride and joy and excitement in seeing your daughter performing.......LOL
I wish her all the good fortune that can be had, and of course just the experience alone will be a life-long memorable event for her, and you. What a wonderful thing for her to experience.
Have a wonderful time now, all of you. Can't wait to hear all about it afterwards...............WOO HOO!!!
Hugz,
Sandie
ChinaDoll_888 07-18-02, 04:38 AM Laurel's very lucky to have such a supportive MOM! Will miss you while you're gone and do keep us posted.
I haven't rec'd the package ... :( I wonder why it took so long - it's been 2 weeks.

mom2five 07-22-02, 09:47 AM Hi Judy
That is so exciting about Laural winning the medal. Congratulations .
I have been on vacation and was very lucky as I had a front row seat for the Rowing and Sailing competition of the Ontario Games as they took place on our Lake Conestogo.
I have so much to do today after two weeks away but just wanted to stop in and see how your soccer competition had gone. All the best
Nancy

ChinaDoll_888 07-22-02, 11:04 PM That's awesome that Laurel brought home the medal ... I bet her room is filled with medals and trophies!
July 23, 2002
Where do I begin about the games. It was such an awesome time for us all. Laural was so excited about them for weeks before. Then Thursday morning 6 am rolled around and it was time to get things moving. We met the rest of the team at what we call the Flag and 2 more girls joined us for the trip down. Let me tell you they talked about nothing else but soccer.....lol
We got them registered and then into the dorms where they would stay for the next 3 nights and 4 days. The rooms were hot and sticky not one of the things we were expecting. So out and get a fan for Laural as she is so used to Air Conditioning that we knew sleep might not be easy at nights with it being so hot. We had a couple of hours before they had to play their first game so as much as they wanted to view the campus and take in all that was happening around them we made them rest. I know what spoilers we are but the temperature was already in the high 80's and climbing so we knew the game would be hot and tiring for the kids. Laural was so cute right before the start of the game. She comes running across the field and says to me "Mom I can't do this." I put my arm around her and let me tell you she was shaking like a leaf. The poor little thing was scared to death of the cameras and the enormity of what was about to take place. So I give her the ole Mom pep talk give her a kiss and pat her on the backside and tell her she will be just fine. With a big smile and a thanks mom that's what I needed she heads off back to the team. The first few minutes with the cameras on she and the rest of the team along with the other team were a bit shy. But not for long soon the cameras and crowd were forgotten and they played the game.
Then came opening ceromonies and yeap I cried when she walked out in the parade of Athletes. That moment she came out is one that will be with me forever.
Two more days of soccer, BBQ's for the kids and a much music dance and we were in the championship round. The kids were fine by this point as the nervousness was long gone. They were used to being interviewed and having cameras around. But we parents were a basket case........lol
However they won the last game 2-0. And when that final whistle blew we had a very happy but tired group of winners. Now all we had to do was wait for the medal ceromonies. And yeap I cried again when Laural was called and they placed a medal around her neck. Actually even the kids were crying as they received their medals. This was what they had dreamed about for 5 years and it was happening. Going back to the dorms and clearing out the rooms were a mixed emotion for all. They wanted to come home and yet they wanted to stay and bond with their new friends. Such a exciting time for all. But it's not over for them as they have still a season to finish and 2 more big tournaments to go into. The memories these kids will have for the rest of their lives is unbeleivable. And yes as Laural put it now she can dream of the Olympics and know after this it is possible for her dreams to come true.
Going back to work last night was great as everyone was so proud of my daughter. Not half as proud as I was of her though....:D
I mentioned Laural had hurt her ankle again. Well she is going to take it easy for the next couple of weeks. She took a hard kick in it at the games and it's a bit sore but nothing happened to it other than a good bruising. I had her checked out at the clinic when we got back and the doc said not to worry nothing happened. Thank god for that.
As for eating the last few days. I don't remember what I had. I do know a couple of days neither hubby or I ate anything till well after 8pm as we were either on the road going to the games or coming home from the games. Not a good reason not to eat but the excitment of what was happening is all I can say is the reason I didn't really look after my body needs well. I am down 3 pounds more over the last few days but being back home I am eating properly and resting so I am back on track and the pounds lost are not offical until next week. I have a feeling that with eating again and exercising my body will regain what it was deprived of over the last week.
Must tell you though of all the things my daughter loved at the games the food was not among them. She was so happy to get back home and have a home cooked meal. She also lost a few pounds that she can't afford to lose so it's lots of pasta for her this week. I was surprised at a place like the games the main food was fries and hamburgers. Our coach had to get them to cook pasta as none of our players will eat anything greasy. Laural was thankful that fresh fruit was in abundance but 4 days of that was enough. Even though I took her different things from home each day the amount she was burning off was no where near the amount she was eating. I am thinking if she makes the Olympics I will apply for the cook's job and make sure they all eat right. Veggies and fruits and meals that are nutritious for them.
Well I have rambled on enough and bragged enough........NOT There is never enough bragging about kids as far as I am concerned.....:)
I have made a huge fruit salad and now that things in my garden are getting ready I am making Mixed Green Salads also......this is my favorite time of the year when veggies and fruits are abundant.
I need to get the bike out and dust it off as it's been 5 days since I went for a ride. Oooooo I can hear my muscles screaming already as they haven't had to do anything for awhile. Well I had better get this over with or my legs will turn back to that jelly flabby stage and that's not gonna happen.
Have a most wonderfull day everyone.

Well it's raining hard here today. So no walk this morning. We need the rain really bad so in a way it's good. Yesterday was not a great day for me. I have what they call cluster headaches and have had one for the past 2 days. It's a bit better this morning. I didn't eat well yesterday at all. I manage to get a salad in me about 5:30 and then one of the guys I work with brought me a pizza pocket from the pizza place near work and insisted I eat. It tasted good and I wasn't worried about the calories...god knows I only had less than 200 in me for the day. And this morning I forced myself to eat a bowl of cream of wheat. Wished I hadn't as my stomach and head are competing for which one feels worse.
Not sure what I will eat tonight at work. I will figure it out later as I know if I show up with nothing my co-workers will enventably go and get me something and it won't be a real healthy choice....lol
But for now I think the bed is calling my name and a nap might help this headache.
Judy2
StaceyJG1 07-26-02, 12:57 PM Judy,
I hope you feel better soon! Nothing I hate worse than a headache that won't go away. I get them quite often, I think because of my allergies. They can be quite debilitating! Your coworkers are right, you do need to eat, just maybe not what THEY eat!
Feel better soon!
sandielynne 07-26-02, 02:45 PM Hello Judy,
It's great to see you are back, and thank you so much for posting the photos of Laurel receiving her medal. Give her a big hug from me also. She and her team must have really kicked butt to win that Gold Medal. And you have every right to be so very proud of her and her fellow team members. I really enjoyed reading your post about it.
It's good to have you back. You have been missed. And I want to thank you for stopping over and visiting my journal.
I will be hoping to talk with you in chat again soon. But until then, have a great day, take care of yourself (and that nasty headache) and go right ahead and brag all you want about that daughter of yours. I'm sure she is a great kid anyone would be proud of.

Not much doing today. Mainly relaxing for a change. Laural had 2 of her soccer friends sleep over last night and then today they had their boyfriends come over and meet the parents..........See parents what happens when you let 2 Under 15 teams go to the summer games..........Acccck all of a sudden you have boys wanting to take your daughters to the movies. I swear it was so much easier when Laural was only 12 or 13. Now I have to deal with boys calling the house and wanting to take my little girl on a date........lol
Oh well guess I will handle this as I did when my son starting dating. Funny though it is easier when it's a son dating rather than a daughter. Double standard I know but just the same it was easier.........:)

i agree i think it will be easier when my son dates than the girls(we have 3 girls) but it is a double standard. i agree on that one too.
we will have 4 kids as teeneagers at the same time cuz there all in a row age wise.
well have a good day!
mom2five 07-29-02, 09:50 AM Judy
I hope you are feeling better. I know how bad I felt last week and it sounds like you were even worse . Please take care of yourself and try to eat more as hunger can cause head aches too.
Have a wonderful day.

I will be out of town for the next 4 days at where else a soccer tournament. So most of our eating will be done at restaurants and such. However I have a cooler packed full of Fresh Fruits and Veggies. I plan on going to Subway for a couple of our meals as I know I can get a nutritous Sandwich for under 6 grams of fat loaded with veggies. :)
Have a great Holiday weekend everyone.
Judy2
Holiday weekend? Is there a holiday in Canada, or am I just so used to not getting holidays, that I'm not even aware of them anymore??? Eeeks!
Your menus look scrumptious. Do you stay filled up on the amount of food that you eat? I think I'd still be hungry. I remember when I used to eat like that, and I used to be thin, too! I suppose when you're thin, your tummy is smaller, and you're more easily filled up. I know I'll see those days again ;)
Have fun on your tournament trip! I'm sure you'll make wise choices, even eating out. Most restaurants offer a lite menu. I hear Canada is much better about that than America--even at McDonalds! Figgers.
Big :hug:s

ChinaDoll_888 08-02-02, 01:47 AM Have fun going for the soccer tournaments. Looks like eating out is no longer a stressful moment, unlike some of us, 'cos you know what you should eat. I still get tempted all the time! Great job on eating healthy and keeping up with it!
Lindasue 08-02-02, 05:15 AM Have an awesome time at the tournaments...you will do great. :x
MissChuckle 08-02-02, 06:31 AM Hi again. Glad that the games went so well, must be scary about the dating thing. She sounds pretty sensible though (and yeah, I know it's your job as a mum to worry). Hope the soccer tournament went well.

Minnie mouse 08-02-02, 10:44 AM Hello Judy~~ have fun at the soccer tournament too. i love subway. i eat it twice a month or so and its healthy and low in fat too. i fit it into my points with ww with no problem too. well talk to you when you return. have a great tiem with your daughter.
August 5,2002
Well we are back from the tournament. :D
Eleven hours to get there. It was a beautifull day for driving. We had left early in the morning on Friday as we wanted to just take our time. However when we got near Toronto we were slowed down considerably due to a traffic accident. Ok so it happens and you just creep along at 20 kilometers a hour for the next 2 hours to get by it.... Then we stopped and had a picinic lunch I had packed in the morning and rested as it's always a bit stressfull being around impatient drivers who curse and fret that we are only doing the 20 kms for 2 hours to get down a stretch of road that normally would take 20 minutes tops any other time. Go figure some people likes it's everyone else's fault for the accident.
The spot we picked for a picinic was great exccept the washrooms were out of order.......lol Thank god for trees.......
Back on the road and as I said we just took our time and pulled into Hull Quebec around 7pm. Being tired from the drive we checked into our room and collasped for about 10 mintues when the rest of those from the team that had arrived found out we were there.........lol
So off went Laural with her teammates to explore the pool and hotel while hubby and I unpacked and ventured out to find them. Where else but the pool and to my surprise a onsite fitness room with the best equipment I have ever seen. OH a fitness buff's delight. I raced back up to the room and changed into my shorts and t-shirt and had one of the best workouts ever. I knew I was going to have a great routine everyday with this gym.
It had a bike and treadmill and a total body machine. Plus one of those machines that it's like your skiing and if I wasn't so tired right now I would remember it's name.........lol I did a total of 90 minutes in the gym and then went back up and showered and went to supper with some of the team. By 11pm we all headed towards our rooms and crashed till the alarm went off at 6am and on to the soccer fields. Which I will fill everyone in on tommorrow when I get some much needed rest. It's been a verrry long but enjoyable weekend. Oh yeah stay tuned for my great adventure of trying to find a subway shop and how I really feel about the people and oh so not friendly police officers of Quebec ...........lol
Judy2
Minnie mouse 08-06-02, 12:09 AM Hello Judy~~ well sounds like a fun trip and a tiring one too. it was great to have a gym there to use.
well i will check tommorow to see what else happened....
get some good sleep tonight!
Whoa, woman! I wonder if I'll see the day that a fitness room excites me and I race to get my work out clothes on! Right now, a carton of ice cream excites me, and I race to get my spoon! No, not that drastic, but I had to poke a little fun at my yummy-food lovin', exercise hatin' self.
It's great to see you had such a wonderful weekend. Sorry about having to deal with an accident. Don't you hate when everybody starts honking, as though the horn vibrations will clear the road? What are they THINKING?
I bet your kiddo scored some big points. You bet I'll be staying tuned for how you "really feel." Why'd you have a run in with not friendly police, anyway? Did you stay in the fitness room past hours? Tsk, tsk. Naughty Judy.
Night, night. Sleep tight. :)
-Andrea-
MissChuckle 08-06-02, 07:34 AM Glad to hear there was a good gym - quite unusual. In my experience, they advertise a fitness room, and there's 1 old rickety exercise bike or the like. Sounds like you had a busy old time - hope you managed to get the much needed sleep. Looking forward to the next instalment .......... Police??? Subway shop??? Sounds interesting.
Chuckles
Day 2 of our Trip:
Well the alarm went off at 6am and I rolled outta bed. I went down to the gym and exercised for just 45 minutes and then went back upstairs to the room for a quick shower and to wake up everyone else. We had one of the other girls sleep in our room as she has 2 other siblings and would have slept on a cot and we figured with only Laural in our room Ashley may as well have a good sleep on a bed with Laural instead. By 8am we met everyone else in the lobby and we were assured that to get to the fileds from the hotel was no problem just follow the pack of vans as 2 knew exactly how to get there. O why do we fall for this everytime........lol
45 minutes later of driving and losing half the others at stop lights etc we are totally lost and the one who was suppose to know where this field was is totally lost. So thank god hubby can read maps and takes the one from her with the directions and has us there in 10 minutes. Which by now the girls are in a panic as they are to be playing in less than 10 minutes. Our first game is against the State Champions from New York. By the way what in the heck is in their water there to make these girls grow so tall........lol Compared to our girls they looked liked giants. The one Laural was to mark was at least 6 inches taller. I never laughed so hard when Laural looked at me and mouthed OMG. Let me tell you though both teams came to play soccer. And it was such a clean game by both teams. No pushing or aggressive play by either side was seen. And the parents from New York were just as impressed as we were with the playing. It's rare to see in a game that by half time the parents are mingling and remarking on the talent on the other team. I had a very nice conversation with a couple as I thought their daughter was remarkable only to soon find out they felt the same about my daughter.:) This game ended in a 1-1 tie. So we knew this tournament was going to be extremely equal in the type of competetion. Which makes it soooo much more interesting. We had another game to play in 2 hours so we got the girls situated under some trees with blankets and out came the coolers and a light breakfast of fruits and muffins were laid out for all. Laural actually slept for a hour. It was hot and humid on Saturday but at least there was shade. We would have gone back to the hotel but it would have meant driving too much and that just tires out everyone.
Our next game was against a Canadian team that is highly rated and I won't mention it's name as I was thouroghly disgusted by both the parents and the way these kids play. The parents actually egg these kids on to be rough and the rules of soccer apparently are never discussed with them. However our kids came out the victors 3-0 even though they suffered phsyically in this game. One broken nose by our center midfielder. And a kick in one of our defenses ankle required iceing to bring down the swelling. Plus yeap Laural didn't escape these kids either. And this one I blame the ref for as what happened to her in my opinion could have been avoided had the ref been doing his job. In soccer you are not allowed to raise your leg for kicking purposes above your waist. It's considered a high kick. Well the one girl had done this at least 5 times and the ref only warned her to stop. He has the right to eject a player from the game as this is considered dangerous play. She came so close to hurting girls all through this game. But she high kicked at Laural and yeap she got her right on the temple and down she went. Do you know how long my heart stopped when I saw my kid go down with a kick to the side of the head. Thank god she started moving right away and I at least knew she was going to be ok. However this ref is going to warn this girl again. Sorry folks but this is when MOM steps in and starts yelling that this kid needs to be red carded outta the game before she kills someone with a kick like that. So next thing I know the ref is coming towards me and we get into a yelling match. And he has Laural come over and show us where that kick landed. Oh so close to her temple it's scary and the ref finally agrees enough is enough and ejects this girl. Ok so now I am the hero of our team and the bad mouthy woman according to the other team. Like I don't care when it comes to this type of soccer in my opinion the ref's need to take more control of a game. The more the kids get away with the more they will try.
So our first day ends with us winning one and tieing one in our division. By the way there were 20 temas from all over the USA and Canada for this tournament. It's the best of the best and there are 5 teams in each division. So you must win your division to go on in the tournament.
We all head back to the hotel to shower and change. It's been a long hot day and the kids were to say the least carrying battle scars from the field with them.
This tournament is being held in Ottawa our nation's capital. We are staying in Hull Quebec which is just across a river but is also another province. You need to know that Quebec is a nice place but very screwed up in the way their streets run. They criss cross this way and that way but never come out where they should..lol
One minute you are in Ontario and the next your in Quebec.
Well to make a long story short Hubby and I decided just to get subs from Subway and let Laural go with Ashley's parents for supper. Seems easy enough right.........WRONG
I got lost big time in this maze of streets and bridges that keep you going in cirlces. So I stop and ask how I get to Rue Laurentain at a gas station. This attendent seems to know what he is talking about and gives me directions. Where do I end up but not on Rue Laurentian in Hull Quebec but on Laurentian in Ottawa Ontario..........Grrrrrrr So into another gas station for more directions. This time I end up who knows where and I still haven't even spotted a fast food place at all. So more dierctions and off I go again getting really frustrated and a bit worried as I have been gone a hour to get subs.........Can imagine hubby wondering what happened to me so I call the hotel and ask for our room and he is not there.........plus have I mentioned since were are in Quebec everything is in French including the answering machine so I have no clue how to leave a message on it............X-(
I spot a grocery store and slip in and figure I will just buy some meats and cheese and sub buns and we will make our own. Also ask for directions there. Another wild goose chase and the next thing I see is a sign for Montreal..........Accccccccckkkkkkkkkk
Ok don't panic there is a sign for the Police Station so I exit and find a cop on a one way street giving a ticket. Get this I pull in the wrong way on purpose as by this time I just wanna get back to the hotel. This cop finally comes over to my van and tells me in French to go the other way..........Well when he finds out I want directions and I don't speak French and I even offered to have him arrest me so I don't have to drive in this crazy mixed up city any more. He starts to laugh and gives me directions. You should be able to trust a cop on directions . Oh how wrong can you be if you said right.....His directions are going take me to Alymer Quebec.......grrrrrrrrrrr
So into another gas station I pull and march in and tell the kid don't even think of speaking French to me just tell me where I am and how in the world do I get back to my hotel. The poor kid must have thought I was a mad woman.....lol By at this point I was.............lol
However he takes out a city map and shows me where I am and has me write down directions turn by turn and street by street right back to the hotel. I am forever indebted to this kid he was the only one who trully helped and if I could remember where the heck I was I would send him a huge thank you card.:)
I walk up to the hotel grab the elevator and finally after 2 and half hours walk into our room. Hubby takes one look at me and I already have my hand up telling him "Don't say a word, Not one word." Must have been the look on my face but he cracks up laughing more from relief as he was sure I had been in a terrible accident instead of just being lost for so long.
And guess what people I am not the only one that was given wrong directions. Seems half our team is lost and they are also being given wrong directions. I think it was 11pm before everyone got back to the hotel safe and sound and we are all in agreement on one thing. The local people and police force of Hull Quebec are the most unfriendly and least helpfull of any people I have ever run across. If we had a choice and were able to book another hotel in Ottawa we would have done so right then and there. The only thing we all agreed on was whatever we did from then on we would just stay at the hotel and as far as eating or sight seeing we would do it in Ottawa not in Hull. Ok so now we are all bushed and we realise we have a game at 8:30 am and the kids need some sleep..........till the next day.
Judy2
MissChuckle 08-07-02, 07:02 AM That's a pretty eventful day. I'm glad Laural was alright after that. I can't believe the ref was going to just warn that girl. That's some high kicking. At least you stood up for your daughter. Well done. (sorry, I know that sounds patronising, but I didn't mean it to be). Drew one, and won one, not bad for a day's work.
Your adventure to find a subway sounds like fun - not. I suppose you should be glad that you got back eventually, but I can see why you're not - I'd certianly be a bit annoyed by all that.
Anyway, have a lovely day, and I'm looking forward to reading the next instalment.

Day 3 of the tournament:
The alarm goes off at 6am. Oh how I love waking up this early to get ready for another day of soccer.......NOT But the kids have a game at 8:30 this morning. We all meet down in the lobby again and a bunch of tired parents and kids head off for the soccer field. I don't think there is a team in the world that likes this early of a start for a game...........lol
We are now playing a team from Maine. The first half shows just how tired both teams are and nothing much really happens and we end the first half tied 0-0. However the second half finds our kids fully awake now and the pace of the game picks up and we have a goal in the first 2 minutes of the second half. This wakes up the other team and now we are in for a highly skilled and enjoyable game. The team from Maine comes right back and scores to tie us. But not for long as the ball is on Laural's feet and she makes a run up the side and sends a beautifull cross to Ashley that is headed into the net. Our girl's score another and the game ends 3-1. It's not as hot this morning which is good as the humidty the day before was almost unbearable. We have a 2 hour wait between games so we find the same spot as the day before and we settle the kids down for some breakfast. There is a Tim Horton's just down from the fields so a couple of us have gone there and gotten fresh bagel and muffins and coffee. While the kids feast on fruit bagels and muffins all the parents enjoy a hot coffee that is slowly waking us up.....lol
Our next game is against the NJ State Champs. I will say this team never gave up in the game and played very well. However it was clearly an uneven game right from the start. Our team just outmatched these kids. The final score was 5-0. But as I said before the USA teams are a very pleasant team to play and win or lose these kids just play the game. We are all in agreement that we would rather play the USA than Canadian teams.
Our last game of the day sees us playing another Canadian team and yeap it was rough. But we win it 1-0 and are now off to the finals tommorrow.
We head back to the hotel debating about whether or not we want to pick up something to eat or wait till we get back.
We opted to wait and let the kids have showers and rest a bit. This is where I blew my diet and we ordered KFC. Guess what it was delivered in less than 20 minutes and I have to say it was the best meal we had ordered from this town since we had been there. And at this point I really didn't care that it was loaded with fat grams.........lol
We decided to do a bit of sight seeing as the Parliment Buildings are right across the river from Hull. This time though we are armed with a city map and do not ask directions from any of the local people. I took a lot of pictures as there is some really interesting sites along the way. It was wonderfull to see all the old architect that has stood for years.
Day4 of the tournament.
Rising a bit later I went down to the gym and had a great workout. 30 minutes on the exercise bike, 30 minutes on the treadmill and 30 minutes on the body solid doing various weights for the arms and legs. Then into the pool for a 30 minute swim. This hotel was everything it had advertise in the way of fitness and pool complete with a hot tub. :)
On to the game and let me tell you this was the game of games in the tournament. At the end of 90 minutes we were tied 2-2. So into overtime we go. Being sudden death the first goal scored declares the winner. We play 2 20 minutes of sudden death and still no score. Now we go into a shoot out. Which is just the goalies and players. This is no way to end a game as when they play this long and are still tied it means both teams are equal and both deserve the win. First 5 shots are taken and then it will go to a shot a piece if no winner is declared from this. Well let me tell these kids had everyone on pins and needles for 25 shots. Yeap 25 shots it took and finally the other team scores to take the game. Our goalie is devasted as she figures the game was lost by her. However our kids are a great bunch and no one is upset at losing in a shoot out. They played a great team from PA and were equal all the way with them. They deserved the win as much as we did and in true Force form the kids heartily congratulated the winners. Surprisingly the PA team is not overjoyed with the win. Well maybe it's not such a big surprise as they felt the same as our kids. They hugged and congratulated our team on a job well done on the field and told them they were a amazing team. When you have this type of players from both teams each one of them came away a winner that day. This is the reason I love this sport so much. And it's the reason Laural loves it also. Our Canadian teams could stand to learn alot from the Americans in good sportsmanship and fairplay. However I am proud to say there is one team that already has this in Canada and we are being recongised for such. So not only am I proud of Laural for her acomplishemnts in this sport but I am proud of the whole team for how they represent us as Canadians.
One other thing that I never mentioned throughout this is scouts were present all over at this tournement. And Laural has been picked to try out for the All Star Team in September. What a honor for her. And if she makes it she will travel to England in October to play the European teams. I will defentely keep you posted if she goes. :D

Ok I had to have a real good talk with myself last night and this morning. It's a good thing I am a real good listener also :D
I haven't been exercising like I was and I can really feel the difference. All of a sudden my tummy was getting a slight bulge and I have worked way to hard to have that happen. So the pep talk I gave myself prompted me into a 5 mile hike this morning then a 20 minute walk on the treadmill, 20 minutes on my stair stepper and 10 minutes on my rowing machine. And I feel TERRIFIC now. So I guess every night for awhile I need to remind myself that I am worth this and I can stay this way with a bit of work.
Mental Note to myself.
I WILL EXERCISE EVERY DAY
SWEAT DOES THE BODY GOOD
I WILL NEVER I MEAN NEVER GO BACK TO BEING A COUCH POTATO
I WILL DO THIS FOR ME AND NO ONE ELSE
Hubby and I have been working on the back yard this week. We had to bring in 5 truck loads of dirt and refill around the house where it has settle. Not big truck loads just as much as we could shovel on which isn't much at a time..........lol Anyways when I left for work yesterday hubby was going to finsih leveling out what we had unloaded and that should have been it till we got topsoil and some grass. This morning he asks me to come outside and tell him what I wanted done back there so he could finish it. What a surprise I got when I got back there. It's all done. New topsoil and he bought rolls of grass plus he made me a beautifull flower bed which is what I wanted back there :) Now I wish we had done this earlier in the spring so I could have flowers already there. O well next year. We have a soccer game to go to today. But at least it's a home game so no travelling. I am trully glad about that as it seems I am never home anymore. Not that I don't love watching Laural play it's just nice to be home this weekend. Also I miss seeing my son even though he works most of the time, being away on weekends means I don't even get to have a coffee with him.
Hope everyone hasa great day.

Beautifull day here today. Up early at 7:30 for a nice relaxing cup of coffee and then out the door at 8am for a walk. They are building new homes just behind us so for the first time I wandered back that way. What used to be woods and great trails for walking is now open flat land that new homes will go on. I know we need the new homes as the city is growing but the reason I like it so well here was because I was on the edge of the city and could almost call it country. Won't be the same in a year or so. :c( O well I will adjust to the hustle and bustle or move.........lol
I walked for a hour this morning and then came home and did 25 mintues on my stair stepper and my Taebo tape. I really like the Taebo as it is so much fun.
Had time yesterday for a coffee with my son and catch up on what he has been up to. Then took him to work as he was working another double shift.
Laural had a soccer game but I begged off this one and had hubby take her. I know I should have gone but with not being home for the last few weekends everything was piling up around here. So I took the oppurtunity to wash floors, dust, vaccum and do laundry. It's amazing how dusty a place can get when you aren't even here to make a mess. I also fixed a wonderfull meal that was ready when they return from the game. It's been awhile since I made homemade spaghetti sauce and pasta with a huge green salad and garlic bread. Had the table set with our best china and waited for them to get home. Being a evening game they didn't pull back into our drive until 8pm which was perfect timing. I even had a nice long soak in the tub before they got home. Laural w |
