I'm determine to lose the remaining weight and reach goal by end July. Plus, I'm tired of wasting my time and having my weight yo-yo around this weight.

My plan for this weekend is to incorporate a 20 min walk on Sat and head for the gym on Sun. In the meanwhile, I'll try to watch what I eat and NOT overeat (doing fine since Mon).

Tks for being here for me, everyone. I really appreciate it! :rose:

Getting more exercise in is the key I think to make you successful. Your menus have always been great so exercising will take off those last few pounds you don't want. Have a fabulous day.

Wow, so many responses and I just started this new journal 12 hrs ago! :D

Tks everyone for your constant encouragement. I'm trying very hard to control my choices of food and the amount actually. The part that I need to work on is my exercise plan. Once I set a routine, I'll try to follow it thru ... I have a phobia of gaining all the weight back and I don't want to be at my heaviest weight again.

I wanted to add that I've been drinking lemon juice almost everyday for the past 1 month and this is what I noticed:
* regular bowel movements (which is essential)
* double chin gone
* tummy flatten

It's so hard to get rid of the tummy, esp when I hardly do stomach crunches. I still have a tummy but you can't tell under my clothes. It used to be visible and I would be afraid pp might think I'm pregnant when I'm not. Results showed after 3 weeks of consumption.

The weight stays the same though - it will only move if I watch what I eat and exercise.

Tks Otto for stopping by ... I'm trying my best to lose the remaining weight! It just won't go away. I hope this weekend, I will choose my food carefully.

I was surprised to find myself losing a lb even after I ate so late last night and going to bed 90 mins after. I shouldn't have eaten that much but I figured I won't be satisfied until I ate something. And once I started, I couldn't stop.

I'm so glad I didn't have to go in to the office today. Originally, my boss did ask me to go in to help - I would but I have to write a report this weekend and submit it on Mon. If I go in to write the report, I won't be able to 'cos I would be busy troubleshooting some problems. So, here I am ... at home. I hate to work on weekends but hopefully, I can get it done fast. It's already 50% done. If I go in to help with the insertion of letters (we have tons to send out by lunch time and needed help), I won't have time to work on my report. So, the decision is to stay home and do the report.

This afternoon, I'm going to a colleague's family funeral wake. I actually hate going to places like these but I really should. For the Chinese, we usually wash our hands after we pay our respects (when we leave the place). This means to wash away the bad luck. There's a mall nearby so I might go over to check it out (but I'm not sure if I'll buy anything - I just got the bill  ). I should get my hair trimmed this weekend though.

I'm off to get my hair washed. It's been quite a few weeks since I went and it's so hot today!

Exercise
1 hour of walking after breakfast w/ dh (grocery & errands)

Beverage @ 9am
lemon juice (1.5 lemon + water)

Breakfast @ 9.30am
minced pork/fishcake/beansprout/pig's liver noodles + watermelon starfruit juice

Gave some of the pig's liver to dh and made myself eat some for the sake of iron. I really hate eating liver but I know I lack iron in my body.

The watermelon starfruit juice cools the body now and it's pretty yummy too. Plus, starfruit reduces high blood pressure. I don't like to eat the fruit but I don't mind drinking the juice with watermelon. I usually take this after taking something deep fried or spicy but today, it was 'cos I felt like drinking it.

Lunch @ 12.45pm
1 bowl of pasta salad (tomato + onions + frozen mixed veggie + pasta + italian vinegrette + parmesan cheese + pepper)

Drank green tea in the afternoon.

Dinner @ 7.30pm
Large pasta salad (tomato + onions + frozen mixed veggie + corn + pasta + italian vinegrette + parmesan cheese + pepper) + diet coke

Beverage @ 1.15am
lemon juice (1.5 lemon + water)

That's all for now!

Hi Chinadoll,
Wow, you are getting so close to your goal now it must be exciting. I know you will make it soon. I have been drinking the lemom juice and water but I don't do it everyday. I should try to do it more often and see if it helps. It sure seems to be helping you. Keep up the good work.

Gina: I would recommend drinking the lemon juice in the morning only ... I guess I'm overdoing this though.

I just got back from visiting ... we were there for 2.5 hours! Heard from a colleague who lost 13 lbs recently that she drinks chinese tea in the morning, sandwich for lunch and dinner is eating veggie & meat without rice. Weekends consist of late breakfast, jogging during lunch and dinner. She jogs for exercise. I thought that was pretty good considering the fact that she has a big appetite ... she has definitely controlled the amount she is eating.

Didn't go for the hair cut 'cos was too tired. Going to work on my report now.

Chinadoll,
Hey like your new journal!! The color is great!!

You will get the last few pounds to move on I know you will!! Plus if you remember how you felt when you were at your higest weight that should deter you from ever gaining!! I know it will deter me if I ever get there!! I mean when I get to my goal!!

Well I am just out cruising this afternoonand wanted to say Hi!!
Your 5 pounds will be gone Soonnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn!!

Take care sweetie,

Judy: usually, we have to rinse our hands with a type of plant in water. But we didn't have it at home and I asked dh "Does that mean I'm banned from home?" I told him that I didn't know abt the necessity of the plant until we got married. Previously in my parents' home, we just rinsed our hands using the garden hose before entering the house.

Lizzie: Right now, I'm really into eating pasta salad - I LOVE IT SOOO MUCH!! It's 80% veggie & 20% pasta! If I eat a large amount, I'm satisfied for 5 hours! Plus I don't have to worry so much abt overeating like I do with meat and carbs.

The weather was super hot today. Just a few minutes of walking (to anywhere) can leave you sweating! Had to go to the office today 'cos stupid me forgot to bring some necessary documents. Couldn't do the report last night. Managed to finish it in the office ... it's so nice to work in peace! I noticed that there were a few staff who came back to work though I was the only one in my department.

Tks Judy and Jusducky for dropping by ... making strawberry jam sounds fun - how do you make it? I guess I'm leaving my workout to the weekends 'cos I'm just too tired and lazy to exercise after work. By the time I leave the office, I get very hungry and want to rush home for dinner. I just don't get motivated anymore when I think of working out in the office gym. I really like working out at California Fitness Gym. Got to think of alternatives to exercise during the week ... I think I did pretty good in the eating area today.

I love strawberry jam but trust me it's not that fun to make.......lol
Since I do so many jars of it it requires about 30 quarts of strawberries to picked. then bring them home wash and stem them oh yeah standing at the sink doing this for a hour or more. Then mashing all the little suckers so the jam is smooth with only a few pieces of berries in it. Cook it on the stove in a humungous pot that hubby has to lift off and on for me. Sterilizing jars and lids to pour the hot jam into. And then praying like heck they all seal so they last through the winter. The whole process takes about 3 or 4 hours. I could do freezer jam which is much easier but my guys like the old fashioned way.
Have a great day Jess and if you really want some jam your going have to come here for it also.:)

Yeap you must continue to stay on your plan. You have come so far to throw it away. :) The sizes over there must run differently becasue over here you would definetly only be a small. A guy that my husband works with just brought me some strawberries.......mmm and on Friday he is bringing me a flat of berries. They are grown organically and taste so much better than ones sprayed with chemicals. I am going to freeze these ones and then make jam when he brings me the rest.
Have a great day Jess.

GoGetter: tks for dropping by - I was wondering where you went ... I don't make the noodles actually. It's the food staller whom we buy the noodles from makes them fresh. The dish comes in a big bowl filled with either noodles or pcs of noodles (not strings but she would just yak pcs out of the roll-out dough), minced pork, kailan and egg (I don't like eating fried anchovies & onions in my soup although a lot of pp like eating them) in the soup. It's the healthier way and I always ask for no oil.

Also, I don't have tea breaks. I work at my desk all the time so I'm on my butt mostly but I have to walk to the printer/bathroom/fill up my water container/meeting with another dept upstairs/etc.... I try to make these trip often.

Judy: That's really great that you're getting fruits from your hubby's friend ... and congrats on reaching GOAL! We have small shops that sells organic products but they are really expensive. Even the supermarket has a small section but I don't think we have many people into organic products yet. I'm definitely staying on the plan 'cos I'm sure everyone agrees that we don't want to go back to the way we looked before - we won't allow it.

That's a smart idea, not to weigh around TOM, or just before it! I often make that mistake and end up being more depressed than I was to begin with. BUT, it's great to weigh after TOM, and feel like I've lost 4-5 pounds in a couple of days! Lol.

I wish I could do water aerobics, but no sitter to watch Liz while I'd do it. I wonder if they'd let me take her with me, and kind of use her as a weight. Hehe. I doubt it. That would be fun and cute though. Let me know how you like it! I'll be there with you in spirit. I'm sure you'll have fun. :)

Hi Chinadoll

Before I had my girl I use to go to water aerobics twice a week , boy do I miss it , there just something about being in the water I really loved it , I'm sure you'll have a blast !

I had my first lesson last night and it was pretty fun. Not strenuous at all! I'm so glad I signed up for it.

Had my wisdom tooth extracted on Mon and the dentist gave me 4-days medical leave. There was no surgery but the dentist had a hard time pulling it out. Other than that, I'm doing really well!

I've been staying home, watching tv, checking my emails and I did work on a paper which I emailed to my boss last night. The first 2 days were great - just relaxing. I'm supposed to stay home but I defy the rules and had my hair cut, attended aqua aerobics, watched 2 movies (big fat liar & scooby doo)... luckily no one from work saw me otherwise I would be in big trouble. Anyway, life is boring without dh!!! I'm thinking of returning work 1 day earlier 'cos I'm bored out of my mind. Plus, I've been eating more than usual ... I eat when I'm bored. Call me silly but returning back to the office will make me eat less. It's not terribly stressful at work so it's alright ... still deciding although I would miss sleeping in.

Just got back from the market where I bought 4 hugh mangoes! Bought some over the weekend and they were so sweet! DH couldn't eat them 'cos it was too acidic and he's recovering from food poisoning. I've already eaten 3 so I thought I'll go get more!

Today I did good (finally after eating quite a bit since Fri) ... had some wonton noodles & mango. Meeting dh for dinner - wonder if we'll have claypot chicken rice later - he's been eating it for the past few days and I wonder if he's sick of it.

Keeping this journal is so addictive 'cos I find myself always wanting to check in to see if anyone added any advice in my journal or just reading others ... the reason why I haven't been posting is becos I'm testing myself - can I maintain / lose weight without DT journals and can I survive without DT journals!

Hey There Chinadoll,
Of course you can't stay away from DT!!! None of us want you too!! We need you here with us making all these decisions on life and diet!!

Sorry you had tooth extracted that can be painful or a relief. My son needs a wisdon tooth out and for him I think relief is the word. I am going to mak ehis appointment for him if he will let me. Children are so independent!! At 32 I think I am very happy about that! Iknow he is amna and I treat him as sucj but deep down he is still my little boy. Just don't want him to hear me say that!!!

Anyway been thinking about you and checking in. Mangoes sure sound good. We were suppose to go to markey and get more strawberries but will go tomorrow and hopefully have cherries too.

Have a good weekend,

Hi ChinaDoll,

Sorry that I have been MIA but I have been having major computer connection problems.. and was about ready to throw the cable modem out the window.. in frustration.. I find that I can't stand not getting online.. even for a few minutes during the day..

Happy you are down to only 4 lbs to go.. and you are enjoying your aquatics classes.. I loved them too when I was taking them.. but.. had surgery..and was called to work.. I don't like not working.. so I am actually looking for another job.. anything.. with benefits..

Keep it up.. Gal.. you are doing great..

Ok, I couldn't stay away .... :D

I found that I tend to eat more when I'm bored. Last week, I was home for 4 days and I kept eating and eating ....

Last nite, went for a 20 mins swim and an hour of aqua aerobics.

I've been suffering from horrible sinus since Sat! Trying to avoid taking meds since we are trying for a baby ... the nasal spray doesn't work - I'll going to get another type from the doctor. In the meanwhile, my jaws/chin are aching, I have a terrible headache and neckache and I'm feeling tired. This will go away if I can have an afternoon nap but I'm working so I can't. :c(

Here's what I ate today:

Breakfast
1 glass of mocha low fat milk @ 7.20am
instant oatmeal @ 10am

Lunch @ 12.40pm
stir-fry garlic sprouts w/ tofu + stir-fry cabbage w/ okra, carrots & french beans + kung pao chicken + a little rice

Dinner @ 7.30pm
rice + stir-fry preserved mustard + stir-fry bok choy + baked beans/fried potato/luncheon meat + stir-fry cabbage w/ bean vermicelli & carrots

Snack @ 9.30pm

No more lemons? I just started doing that. I think it works, too! :) Missed you. You're trying for a baby? How wonderful! You don't have any children, yet, right? I think you'll make a wonderful mother, and that you'll love being a parent. Sorry that you're having sinuses. Yuck. I think there are herbs that will help that, if you don't want to take medication. I'll try to find out what they are, and I'll let you know.

Diet is looking good as always. :) Any changes in the stats that haven't been posted yet?

Take care, and hope to hear that you're pregnant soon!

Today, I will be spending most of the day.. inside... as it is too hot here.. I do have an appointment to get my nails done again... at noon.. I am glad I can usually just pick up the phone and say... Hey.. I need an appointment.. LOL..

Well, go out and make it a special day... and remember.. Build Upon Your Dream....

Tks everyone for the encouragement. It's great to read them! I'm stopping the lemons just for this week ... got to buy more of them and squeeze them. I tried looking for the concentrated lemon juice in the supermarket but there isn't any.

I find that eating oatmeal helps with my sinus. It's hard not to reach for the medicine. It's been raining these days ... when the sun is out, it's so hot! So, the weather's been a factor as well or else my sinus won't be so badly affected.

Unfortunately, I gain 2 lbs last week while I was on medical leave so the weight's been hanging around 122 and 125 lbs ... it's better than before (125 to 127 lbs) ...

I think I'll shop for a swimsuit 'cos I'm thinking of going swimming every Tue (aqua aerobics) and Thu evenings... if my swimsuit doesn't dry by Thu morning, I can't bring it to the office ... still deciding on this.

Here's what I ate today:

Breakfast @ 9am
fried rice vermicelli + stir-fry cabbage

Lunch @ 12.30pm
pork rib prawn noodles soup

Snack @ 5.45pm
miso soup

Dinner @ 9.30pm
1 pc of chappati + chicken curry (no meat) + raita (yogurt) + stir-fry cabbage + 1 rice bowl of fried noodles

Snack @ 11.20pm
ice cream

That's all for now.

Hi ChinaDoll,

Just dropped in to see how you are doing.. don’t be discouraged about adding those pounds while you were off last week.. they will come off..

I am happy that you are enjoying the aquatics class.. I really enjoyed going to them.. before I had my surgery, just haven’t had the additional funds since I am not working.. but I think that I will rejoin after I start work again and stop on my way home from work.. I think I can do that..

Please send some showers over our way.. it is definitely very hot here..in Southern Oregon.. today it will be at least 106 but you know the weathermen.. they are the only people I know who can be over 50% wrong and still get and keep their jobs.. LOL

I think getting another swim suit is an excellent idea.. that way you can always have one dry so you can bring it to work.. and be ready to.. go..

Well, it is still kinda cool here.. not needing the air.. at least.. so I best be getting things done..

Have a great day and a great weekend..

Hugs,

Your doing so great with your water aerobics. Do you find your getting more toned now that you are doing them? Have a wonderfull day.

Judy2

ChinaDoll_888
07-17-02, 05:22 AM
Judy: I don't feel toned yet 'cos I only do aqua aerobics once a week. I am planning to go swimming on Tue & Thu and work out on weekends - making it 3 times a week. That should be good exercise - got to build a routine first. In the meantime, I have to work on the quantity of food I'm consuming - at times I'm still eating quite a lot. I thought I had that under control ...

Medium serving each meal so far ... hope I don't eat too much for dinner ... thought of going swimming after work but my arms are aching. Going to rest them and then go swimming tomorrow.

Breakfast
½ glass of mocha milk + fried rice vermicelli (small serving) + stir-fry cabbage + fried fishcake + 1 small cup of coffee

Lunch
stir-fry long beans + stir-fry tofu/leek + meatcake + rice + watermelon starfruit juice

Snack
mushroom tea

Dinner
rice + chicken in dark soya sauce + stir-fry green veggie + fried bean vermicelli

Judy: I haven't rec'd the package yet :( I haven't counted the calories, it's really hard to estimate but I'm sure I exceeded 1200 cals (which could be the reason).

I'm happy with my diet today. Almost didn't make it to the pool but I'm glad I went.

Exercise
30 mins of swimming: 14 breath (350 m)

Hi :) Your diet, as always, is awesome. Your exercise is incredible. You're awe inspiring, and that goal of yours is going to sneak up on you any day. I was thinking, you're probably building a lot of muscle with all your exercise, so... you may still be losing the fat w/o losing the pounds. I have a friend that's doing intensive training at the gym, and hasn't seen a single pound loss, but has found extra room in her clothes! Are your clothes getting bigger? :)

Okay. Promised myself this was the last journal I'd post in tonight. Time for BED! Have a great weekend! Hugs.

Tks Andree for dropping by and for sharing that tip. I'm trying to do swimming 'cos it tones the whole body. Clothes still fits the same ... I've been buying a lot of sleeveless tops lately (after 4 yrs of not wearing any tanktops, I can't wait to show off my arms - it still needs some work though).

Today I'm eating badly ... but I'm drinking lots of tea to make up for it. You know, esp oolong tea after an oily meal!

Breakfast (this was alright)
kway chap @ rice noodles + salted veggie (not good for health reasons) + tofu + hard boiled egg

This is a Teochew dish. A variety of ingredients such as pork, intestines, deep fried bean curd, mostly cooked in dark soya sauce. Served with rice noodle sheets in a dark soya soup with chili sauce on the side.

Lunch (this was oily but after drinking the green tea, I felt less guilty ;) )
fried noodles w/ luncheon meat + cabbage + green tea

Dinner
BBQ

That's all for now.

The class is fast paced and we do a lot of punching in the air and kicking. It's really fun actually but I was really tired after 30 mins of workout. I had to push myself to finish the 50-min class.

Didn't managed to try the chicken whopper jr ... maybe tonight although I'm thinking of making some pizza (filling on regular bread). I chopped too much onions for last Sat's bbq and have 2 container full of them in the fridge. I was going to bring a slice to work this morning but didn't have time...

Tks for stopping by jowc123, I haven't been posting actively 'cos life is still the same. I haven't been taking care of my eating or exercising. So, while the weight is between 123 lbs and 125 lbs, nothing much has changed. Boy, it sure isn't easy keeping up with this diet!

Heading to Hong Kong on Thu for 5 days of shopping & eating with dh! Yup, there goes the diet! Hopefully, I can walk away all the food that I eat! Currently planning the itinery since it's a free-n-easy trip for us. I can't wait - 3 more working days and we're off on our vacation! I love spending time with dh - the joys of marriage before the kids arrive.

Hope everyone had a good weekend. I had a manicure and pedicure done yesterday which was really great!

What I ate today:

Breakfast
yong tofu --> noodles with non-fried tofu, fishcake & veggie

Lunch
mixed rice dishes --> a little rice + stir-fry garlic sprouts/tofu + meatball + stir-fry potato

Afternoon
oolong tea

Dinner

ChinaDoll,

Sorry that I have been MIA.. but we have had quite a bit of things going on here in Southern Oregon..

First... and foremost.. I got recalled back to work.. and I start again tomorrow morning.. YES.. I needed to get back into the working life.. LOL NO MORE.. free days.. LOL whatever they are..

Second.... We have been camping on Papa's days off.. and that has really been a treat..

Third... daughter has had some personal problems that we needed to help her.. SOLVE some of her difficulties.

Unfortunately, since I have run out of my prescription water pills, I have put on 5lbs.. so when I go see my doctor.. then I will try and get some more pills since when I take ACTOS with my current medications.. my blood sugars have really been great..

Hope you enjoy your weekend in Hong Kong.. and.. enjoy walking around.. with your dh..

Hugs and keep up the exercising.. you are going to succeed..

Andree

Oh, Hong Kong sounds great. I was wondering, what languages do you speak? It seems that you travel quite a bit. And I can tell you're well educated :) How'd you get a free trip to Hong Kong? Business related? I'm sure you'll be okay w/eating. You always are--even when you think you're not. :)

Have a wonderful trip!

Jusducky: I'll drop by your journal to catch up on what I've missed. Wondering what water pills are?? And your camping trips sound like fun - that I'm aware that you've been going camping.

Andree: I speak 2 languages -> English & Mandarin. In HK, a lot of people speak English & Cantonese. DH understands and is able to converse in Cantonese so I'll have to rely on him when we're shopping. Unfortunately, it's not a free trip. This is our 3rd vacation for this year. It's fun to go on vacations and spend quality time with each other. Since we don't have the kids, we should make the most of our free time and see more of the world together. It's fun experiencing new things with your best friend, don't u agree?

Monday - back to work. It's okay actually, no meetings scheduled so far so I just need to focus and get my work done. No exercise all last week - terrible ... I need to keep trying to exercise regularly otherwise my weight will go up! I have aqua aerobics tomorrow and dinner on Wed. I must try my best to encourage dh to walk a lot in HK ... you know guys ... when they are not shopping, it's very boring for them.

There's the guy's market located next to the ladies market in HK and I'm told that the guy's market has cuter stuff. These are street markets and there's no changing room to try the clothes. My friend advised me not to touch anything or ask about the price if we are not going to buy anything from the stall. That, I was aware of ... we asians love to touch and feel the material of the clothes/product whether we want to buy it or not.

Still planning the itinery ... not sure how much will we cover or will we visit more places? Relying on dh's HK colleagues to recommend some places to us.

Hi ChinaDoll,

Your life sounds so interesting.. I have always been intrigued with people from other countries and cultures. My parents are as I say.. world travelers.. (especially since all of us kids are grown).. They traveled to China just after it was opened to American Tourists.. I believe they were within the first 10 trips allowed. And they haven't let grass grow under their feet since they retired when my Dad was 54..

My Dad.. was shot down over China during WWll and was "protected and hidden" during their walk out of China.. and he has spoken quite highly of the families that aided him and the other 5 survivors of the B-25 he was in..

We unfortunately.. have not gotten to the point where we can travel great distances.. .. and will definitely do that when we retire.. (or at least we have that planned).

Well, I just wanted to touch base here.. and let you know that I am thinking of you.. I have been recalled to work.. which came at the right time.. (my unemployment.. ended.. a couple of weeks ago.. and I had filed for an extension.. )..

But, I am very pleased to be back at work..

Well.. I best check out a few more journals..

Make it a great week.. and hope you had a good vacation..

Hugs,

peggrady

Hey, ChinaDoll. I'm back and you were the first person I wanted to check in with. It's great to see that you're still at it, still working hard and travelling all over. Hong Kong! One of my good buddies did a freighter trip around the world and her videos of Hong Kong made me want to fly right over to see it. What an amazing spot. And I thought New York was exciting!!

To update...Four weeks ago today I had surgery for colon cancer. The doc said he hadn't seen it caught so early in years. So, no chemo, no radiation, looks like I'll be around for quite some time. Put me back together as good as new...except for the 35 staples holding my stomach together. There goes my bikini wearing days. Now, you'd think that after not being able to eat or drink anything for a full week, lose of appetite after major surgery, etc...I'd have lost an amazing amount of weight. Ha ha ha. A lousy nine pounds. They removed two feet of my intestine. That alone must have weighed five pounds. 8-| So, I'm back on my plan as of today.

Have a great trip!!!!

HI everyone! I'm back from my weekend in HK. All I did was shop and eat and shop and eat. Unfortunately, we kept eating the same kind of food - wonton noodles, roast goose w/ rice and dim sum. I must say I'm really impressed at how much HK has progressed. The transport system is very well designed and convenient. Almost everyone speaks mandarin, cantonese and english so it was easy to communicate. With the exception of rain which prevented us from venturing further, the HK sale was a good deal - up to 70% discount. I must have walked at least 5 - 7 hours a day but that's slow walking ('cos I was shopping). Tired but I slept really well at night.

Flight was via Cathy Pacific - I recommend it. They have the screen in front of your seat and there's a variety of movies to choose. No games unless you're in first class or flying via SIA. It's just 3.5 hrs from Singapore.

I'm trying to get back into my diet! Did alright until dinner time! Will try to do better tomorrow.

Here's what I ate today:

Breakfast
steamed veggie dumpling + keebler's crackers

Lunch
handmade noodles

Dinner
rice + curry veggie + stir-fry potato + sweet-n-sour pork + beef rice noodles

That's all for now.

Here's what I ate today:

Exercise
15 mins of walking + 15 mins of viewing the sea / people fishing

Breakfast
½ cup of soya bean milk + steamed veggie dumpling + keebler's crackers

Lunch
yam rice + lean pork & salted veggie soup

Afternoon
green tea

Hi Chinadoll,
Hey look at you very close to goal!! I can bet your trip to Hong Kong was wonderful!! My sis said she loved it there. When she lived in Jakarta she made trips to Hong Kong about 2 times a month. Then her little boy got sick and she went every few days.

Good Morning or should I say good evening.......lol
Freezing strawberries is sooooooo easy ChinaDoll and they last for a year. They would last longer but we eat them before the next season comes........lol
I love them in the winter. Especially on days when the snow and wind are blowing , having them reminds me that nice hot weather will come again.
I defenelty think you and your hubby should come to Canada and visit when strawberry season is on. We could go pick some together and then make strawberry jam for you to take back home. What do you think? Wanna come to Canada and pick strawberries with me?

Have a great day.

If we do get to attend our friend's wedding - it should be in Winnipeg, Manitoba, we might stop over in Ontario. We must continue to keep in touch .... the wedding's in late May though. I would love to go pick strawberries - I've never done that & that would be quite an experience to remember!

Hi Chinadoll,
Seems like for ever since I have been here to talk to you!! I don't know where the time goes... My grandson is here again tpday and gets to spend another night!! We didn't do much last night just kinda had a nothing night. Today we got early and went to Michigan and got 2 bushels of peaches for me to can. I get about 40 quarts of peahes then I make peach cobblers all winter for my sons and DH. Then we also bought some zucchini and will make 6 zuke bread tonight!! My grandson is so sweet. He baked a carrot cake for his grandpa to have when he gets off work tonight!!

He loves fried potatoes so my grandson is frying potatoes for dinner. Soon as he finishes dinner we are going to go for a walk. Makes it so nice to have someone to walk with.

Sounds like your trip was a success!! Don't you love when you get back home!! Well sweetie have a good night and take care.
Okay what is a beehoon???

Love and hugs,
Lizzie

ChinaDoll_888

beehoon is rice vermicelli. It's healthier than the yellow noodles and you feel less bloated eating it.

Sounds like you're having fun with yr grandson! I've never tried zucchini bread - not a big fan of zucchini though I eat it.

I agree, I love going for walks and dh doesn't do that with me. Wait till I have kids and then I'll have someone to walk with me. :rose:

ChinaDoll_888

Brought a slice of lemon to the office so that I can add that to my water. Drinking more water in the office today which is good.

I seem to be maintaining my weight at 125 lbs which is not good enough for a 5'1" person. How to get motivated and lose another 5 lbs? I'm going to check out the challenges and see what I can do ...

Here's what I ate today:

Breakfast
a big plate of fried rice vermicelli/noodles

Lunch

Afternoon

Dinner with a friend

How are you? I read your diet for today and that looks good. So far today I have had a glass of milk a can of pop and a 1/2 cup of macaroni. But I am making a pot roast with carrots and tomatoes, and onions and potatoes which has my appetite finally coming into being. I'm sorry I have had you worrying about me really ((hugs)) I am back, now. I look forward to reading more posts and participating here and getting to understand myself and keep on journalling as I think it's been a positive force in my life up to date. If I can get to eating healthier, and stop losing my hair. and Keep on excercising I think I will start losing again. I appreciate your advice about the protein that is why I am making the roast but I tell you I have stayed away from meat becuaase I wanted to eat less fat. In fact I cant remember the last time I have had meat. I had come to the conclusion the smell of meat cooking got my appetite higher so I stopped cooking it and walla .. no appetite. I think it's really clued in to smells at least mine is. But since I saw a dietician and have really been keeping track of what I'm eating I do know now that a can of pop is empty calories and should not be a substitute for a real lunch or dinner. No wonder I'm losing my hair and have no energy. Well I hope we can help each other gain the knowledge and support we need to do what we want to do. You are an inspiration to me. Take care and keep smiling. :rose: God bless you.

GoGetter: I'm glad to read that you're eating better. You'll find that you fill up faster with meat and don't snack as much when you are full. Reducing food intake doesn't mean starving yourself, I realise that too.

Judy: I like drinking the lemon juice as well - but this is just water with lemon slices. I find it sour as well 'cos I put in a thick slice of lemon. Makes me feel better too, esp after a sinful meal.

The last few days, I ate so much carbs ... I think it's due to PMS - I read that eating carbs will cause you to be less irritable. The good news is that I didn't snap at anyone, esp DH.

Here's what I ate today:

Breakfast
steamed veggie bun (dim sum) + a few roasted peanuts

Lunch
stir-fry cabbage/bean vermicelli + stir-fry garlic sprouts/tofu

Afternoon
soy beancurd dessert (slightly sweetened)

Dinner
Thai mango salad + 5 pcs of tako pochi (octupus balls) + some noodles

That's all for now.

Today, I went over to my friend's place to pass 3 big shopping bags full of local delights to her dad. My friend lives in California and her dad's going to visit her next week.

Had a big breakfast so I'm not planning to have lunch.

Time to get serious with eating right and start exercising! I can feel my butt expanding in my jeans when I sit!

Here's what I ate today:

Breakfast
fried rice vermicelli/noodles + stir-fry cabbage + luncheon meat

Afternoon snack @ 3.30pm
Thai mango salad

Dinner
stir-fry cabbage / bean vermicelli / kailan + sweet-n-sour fish

Dessert
1 slice of chocolate swiss roll + ½ glass of soya bean milk

That's all for now.

Hi ChinaDoll,

Eating carbs when I'm PMSing makes me more irritable , and of course they are what I crave . I'm also drinking lemon in my water , I love it !
Anyway just wanted to drop in and wish you a wonderful weekend , I'm having fun with my girl , we finger painted this morning and are going to the park after her nap .

I feel broke ... got paid last week, rec'd a bunch of bills and paid them, just transferred some $ to the joint a/c ...

Wow, tks for responding! This makes my day!

Summering: I guess you avoid eating carbs when you're PMS? I couldn't believe I ate so much! But the best part was that I wasn't irritable at all and we didn't fight over small matters. Men just don't get it when we are having PMS!

Courtney: it's much refresher to drink lemon flavored water ... plus it cleanse our system. Keeps you slim, I heard.

Buji: the local chinese here loves to eat fried vermicelli for breakfast. Maybe I should quit my job and sell this for breakfast. It's a good business to get into ... hmmm....just a thought. Can't cook that well though.

Not doing much this weekend ... cancelled facial session 'cos the girl was sick. DH is down with a virus infection but he went out for a mahjong session. Bought a bunch of veggie and going to do some cooking today.

It's super hot today. It's the 17th day of the 7th month in the Chinese lunar calendar. Lots of people are burning paper money ... making the air polluted ... and my nose itchy!

Here's what I ate today:

Breakfast
wonton noodles

Lunch
sukiyaki veggies + 1 rice bowl of black porridge dessert

Dinner
½ serving of chicken rice + minced pork & carrot soup

Snack
mango

That's all for now.

Hi ChinaDoll,

I know that you really watch your diet and drink lemon water a lot; what do you do for exercise?

I have begun drinking grapefruit juice since reading about your lemon diet. Grapefruit juice supposedly has those same fat burning enzymes in it as the lemons. I didn't use to like it but have surprisingly developed quite a taste for it now...

Hi ChinaDoll..

Oh, I had a facial once... and my goodness did that feel great.. The gal who does my hair needed someone to practice on.. lol.. when she went back to the Beauty school to get her license to do this.. and My Goodness did it feel great.. I felt like ALMOST a new woman.. LOL..

I told her now she will have to learn how to give massages.. LOL.. that is my next.. "special thing" I am going to do..

I love lemon in my water.. but.. I have been using Lemon Spray.. actually lemon oil in the spray.. I remember when I first started drinking water on a regular basis.. it was hard for me to even get down one glass.. and.. I got this spray.. (I used to get it many years ago.. when I would have bourbon and 7's.. LOL

Well, get back to your exercising.. or I will have to crack the old whip.. I guess I haven't been nagging you enough.. LOL.. Like Monica said.. I usually am a good nagger.. LOL..

Take care and Make a difference in someone's life today.

Anastasia: I love drinking lemon juice. Grapefruit juice is pretty good too though I seldom drink it. It makes us feel good, doesn't it ... knowing that it's getting rid of all that fat in our body!

Judy: Sounds like you had a great weekend shopping! That turkey dinner sounds yummy - what's the occasion?

JusDucky: Yes, I do need nagging. Plsssss ..... I'm getting sooooo lazy when it comes to exercises!

Tomorrow, I can't go for aqua aerobics 'cos I've got TOM. I usually take it easy during this time. Have already scheduled to attend the body combat class on Sat. I should arrange with my colleagues this Thu to work out (we skipped last week) ... maybe attend line dancing!

The supermarket finally sells the bottled lemon juice concentrate. I got a small bottle and am going to start taking it. Yay to no more squeezing!

Here's what I ate today:

Breakfast
large steamed chicken bun (dim sum)

Lunch
rice + stir-fry long beans + stir-fry potato slices + sambal egg

Dinner
2 springrolls (unfried) + a little rice noodles

Supper
peanut butter & jelly sandwich

That's all for now - looks like I ate quite a bit today ...

Tks for posting, guys! Makes my day to read all the encouragements and inputs from everyone!

GoGetter: I like what you eat and I'm so glad you're eating more now. Keep up the good work and don't give up.

Lizzie B: I hope you've been taking yr calcium supplements 'cos we start to lose some bone & muscle mass once we hit 30s. One of my colleagues also commented that she seemed to have shrank. I read that it's better to start building muscles & working out young so that we won't lose too much metabolism later in life. Problem is, I'm too lazy to lift weights ... gotta hit the gym and start my routine once again! That was an interesting fact abt you and yr son! Tks for sharing it.

Buji: I'm trying to vary what I eat for breakfast but I think I've got to watch the amount I eat. Seems like I'm eating a big breakfast every morning. Tks for the advise ... I'll start to buy lemons again ... fresh is better than preservatives, I agree.

I've been drinking more water these days in the office which is a good sign. DH is home sick ... hopefully, I can get off work on time and rush home to see him. Last night, I got home before him. I would usually rush to open the door & welcome him home when I hear him coming down the stairs to our apt. Unfortunately, I did just that when our neighbour came down the stairs. He must be thinking that I'm a crazy woman!

DH's diet is going great - he already lost 9 lbs in 2 weeks! I always offer him a glass of icy cold water when he comes home (I give good service) - to prevent him from reaching for soft drinks. I hope he sticks to it 'cos he's really strict on his calorie intake! I eat less too when he's on a diet - which is great.

Here's what I ate today:

Breakfast
small serving of steamed rice with chicken (dim sum)

Lunch
yong tofu (1 fishball + 2 okra + a few stalks of green veggie + 1 hard boiled pigeon egg + 1 beancurd wrapped fish paste + rice noodles served with sweet sauce and chilli)

Snack
a few roasted peanuts

Dinner
2 crispy KFC chicken + 1 breadroll + coleslaw

Hi ChinaDoll!

I went to an asian market near work today and I thought of you. Wow, that was a cool store! All kinds of exotic (to me) foods. Most of them didn't have English packaging, so I had no idea what they were. I needed you to translate for me! But I had a lot of fun in there. I was looking for a pork bun for lunch, but ended up with a bento box of sushi and noodles. Tasty!

ChinaDoll_888
08-28-02, 09:48 PM
Judy2: I agree, it's so much easier to eat less when DH is not over eating. Is Laurel going to a different school?

Kilogo: Tks for thinking of me. That bento set sounds yummy. They should put english instructions labels on those food packages so that we know what we are buying and how to prepare the food. I face that problem too when I look at japanese/korean products. If you do get the pork bun, I would recommend you buying it from a shop that sells dim sum, not from the asian market store. They taste so much better and they're freshly made.

It's the start of Thursday for me. Sipping on some coffee, no breakfast yet. I'm going to eat when I'm hungry - so that's prob at 10 or 11am ... meeting a friend for lunch later. Got a briefing on ISO audit in the afternoon - aargh, I hate meetings. Hope I get a lot done at my PC today!

Sweet dreams everyone!

Well hello there china! How was your day? I had a fabulous date yesterday :) first one in 11 months~! :D
I am surprised it went so well I was so nervous!!!! But he was a gentleman and it was very fun.... anyway just wanted to pop in and see how you were doing... looking good in here.
How is the weather over there where you are at? It's been sunny and warm here..a little foggy in the mornings.. it comes in off of the ocean here.
You had a nice menu today.. maybe I should adopt your menus hehe :) I would just have to run to the grocery store every day but more excercise .. specially if i walked heheh
Works for you!
Today I had:
Special K with fat free milk and coffee
pork, cheese sand and 7up
and bowl of beef barley soup with 2 pieces of sourdough bread and water
lots of water...

not so good on the fruits and veggies... on a regular basis.. I am still not very hungry.. just still terrified on gaining more weight I know....stubborn too I guess.

I've decided that I will try to eat a fruit or a vegetable with every meal that way I'll get more in.. and I'll buy some v8 juice and some regular juices to help with getting more fruits in my diet. That should help.

Well I hope you are having fun today/tonight whatever time it may be when you get this. God bless you and thanks for being there for me. You have been a great friend to me.:rose:

Well I have to get ready for work. Hope you have an excellent day my friend.

Judy2: wow, a lawyer ... sounds like yr daughter will have a promising career. That's great that the new school is closer to home.

Didn't eat too healthy last night but I thought the amount was just right. I like the fish stewer - thick pcs of fish meat. The root beer was really sweet - it used to be my fave drink but now, it's tooo sweet for my liking.

My tummy didn't quite agree with what I ate last nite so this morning, I took some oatmeal for breakfast. I read somewhere that oatmeal is good for the stomach if we have any stomach upset. I did feel better after eating the oatmeal.

Hi ChinaDoll,

Your pictures are truly unique and KewL.. I have never been out of the US.. well, I lied I have been to Yak Canada, when we lived in Spokae many many many years ago... and we only visited there to say we made it to Canada.

We have difficulty finding the time to tour beautiful Oregon.. but one day we will be able to do that... Hope it is before we're too old to enjoy this state. LOL

I sure wish I had a couple more days off.. LOL.. this three day weekend wasn't enough time for me to complete what I needed to have gotten done.

I really liked the picture of the Tulips.. it looks so much like Holland, I immediately thought, did they visit Holland.. glad you put that it was Japan.. or it would have been missed.

Well make it a great day/night .. and make a difference in someone's life today.

Tks for stopping by, Judy & Christina. Really appreciate it. I'm maintaining at 125 lbs, it seems. Lately, you can see that I'm not making much effort to eat healthy. Well, I hope I get motivated soon!

That's a taiwan food fair that I might visit tomorrow. It looks interesting 'cos Taiwan is another food haven! They have food that we don't have here!

Dinner
linguine w/ veggie in tomato sauce + 2 pcs chicken + 1 roll

That's all for now.

Attending a 3-day course on MS Access. It's at my office location so during breaks, I rush back to the office to get some work done while everyone's gone to the cafeteria for a drink / snack. I would then rush to the cafeteria to grab a small cup of coffee with creamer (no sugar) and hurry back to the classroom.

Breakfast
pork bun + coffee

Lunch
yong tofu (okra + fishcake + quailegg + rice noodles)

Dinner
stir-fry broccoli + stewed pork w/ mushroom + noodles

Snack
half honeydew (small)

That's all for now.

China,

I have put the 3 recipes in the recipe forum; I will be happy to check out other recipes ... but I don't have any for microwave .. only for grill and oven.

I put them in the Main Dish Forum. Always, Monica

Monica: I just checked out the recipe forum ... will have to re-look again 'cos it's lunch time for me and looking at the recipes make me really hungry. 30 mins to lunch and drinking oolong tea does not help.

I saw the herb potato chips and that looked really yummy! Must give it a try!

Judy: not much exercise but at least I skip the cakes that were being served as snacks.

I'm craving for oreo cheese cake! I haven't had that for a few weeks!

Tonight, might have curry fish with okra and tomatoes for dinner 'cos last nite, the shop was closed.

ChinaDoll,

Wow, that sounds pretty good, I was going to make stuffed bell peppers tomorrow night but.. I have some white fish.. fillet of sole and salmon.. in the freezer.. and Misty my grandbrat has been asking for.. fish.. Maybe I will do that instead.. and Wednesday make the bell peppers.. since I am going to be off.

I have a rotisserrie.. that I sometimes cook our fish in.. and it really works great.. I don't know.. about it.. for.. the 5 of us.. but will give it a try.

On Wednesday, I plan on going to the gym.. and swim.. and maybe take some time to use the treadmill.. I don't know yet.. but that is what my plans are now...

I also plan to go to the gym on Thursday and Friday... and maybe again on Sat..

Whoops.. I better take my night meds.. so I don't forget to take them..

HUGS,
Make a difference Tomorrow..

Believe and all things are possible..

Just popped in to check your journal out - you have a beautiful diet, I must say. I don't think I would be able to stop eating if I lived in Singapore, all the meals you describe sound so interesting and wonderful. Makes my beans on toast sound a bit plain (which they are!!!).

mickeyvoll: tks for stopping by. On the contrary, I've got a friend who end up losing weight when she stayed with us for a week. She hardly ate (prob 'cos of the heat) and she ate noodles soup - which was the healthier choice. It really depends on the individual. If I eat western food for every meal, I'm sure I would lose weight!

Breakfast
half peanut butter and jelly sandwich + coffee

Lunch
chicken rice

Snack
pear

Dinner
stir-fry noodles with calamari + green veggie

That's all for now.

Hiya, tks for stopping by. I've been eating horribly and my face is now showing potential zits!! So, tomorrow onwards - no deep fried food for at least this week! I did finally go to the gym -> 20 mins on the stepper and did some weights (abt 1 hr workout for cardio & weights). Didn't eat much for dinner but enjoyed a small slice of yummy oreo cheesecake (I couldn't even finish it - it's so filling!). It's been busy at work but wonder if I could squeeze in some workout time after work! Let's see ...

Here's what I ate today -> to be enjoyed once in a blue moon!

Breakfast
nasi lemak (fragrant coconut rice with fried fishcake, fried luncheon meat, fried otak [fish paste] & sambal chilli)

Lunch - junk food
1 potato croquette + burger king's small onion rings + burger king's chicken cheese sticks (2 pcs)

Dinner
1 potato croquette + a little salad + 1 small slice of oreo cheese cake + lemon tea (soft drink from Japan - it's slightly sweetened)

That's all for now.

Hi ChinaDoll,

I like the renewed commitment that you have made! I too have made new Commitments and WILL stick by them this week. I have decided to try making commitments for just one week at a time.. and thus making them a lifetime goal, by repetition.

The 100+ Generation has really been helping me define why and what I am doing here.. so.. you may try that out..

I know you are closer to your weight loss goals and.. that makes it harder to lose each week, but PLEASE don't dispair. you will get there.. as long as SNIOP's don't interfere into your daily plan.

Hugs,

Hiya, I'm back ... decided to re-focus after a weekend of pigging out! Plus, TOM's here and I'm feeling extra fat! Suffering cramps but found that consuming soy bean milk and taking calcium supplements help.

Here's the deal - eat lite during the day so that I can enjoy my dinner.

Here's what I ate today:
Breakfast
200 ml of lowfat chocolate milk + fruits (red grapes & pear)

Lunch
mushroom & tuna baked pastry w/ tabasco + cherry tomatoes w/ lite caesar dressing

Snack
2 side veggies: stir-fry green veggie + sambal beancurd w/ long beans

Dinner @ Buckaroos - plan
??

That's all for now.

Hope your feeling better soon and your cramps go away quickly.

Have a wonderfull day.

well, shucks.. it seems like you should be at your ideal weight by the way you eat. maybe that last five pounds is just not meant to come off. your body knows where it wants to be. maybe your preoccupation with the scales is the problem, not the weight.

your exotic diet sounds very good, well balanced protein, carbs and green vegetables. i found the stir fried hot dog to be peculiar, but then if you knew about my ostrich egg omelets perhaps you would think that strange as well.

rock on , chinadoll, you're doing great! lovepeter

Hi ChinaDoll,

Sorry I forgot to put the recipe for stuffed bell peppers in your journal.. but I will.. as soon as I find the one I used last time.. which turned out great.. but this is what I remembered doing..

I used ground turkey and extra lean ground beef.. put in some seasoned bread crumbs, and.. some other seasonings.. then for the first time.. I put them in a pan.. with some water and tomato sauce.. and.. cooked them.. for I think about.. 30 minutes.. then.. I kinda kept them warm.. because the company hadn't arrived yet..

I used the mixture also to make the stuffed napa or chinese cabbage.. I like using those leaves.. because they are in my opinion more flexible.. LOL and really the right size. and.. added them to the.. green peppers in the pot.. For everyone else.. I did add a thin slice of cheese.. but on mine.. no cheese as it wasn't FF.. oh well. it still tasted great..

According to my doctor.. and my last visit.. I have lost a total of 4 lbs.. but I really think it is only 2 lbs.. because I reported the.. other two.. LOL.. I went to see him on Friday afternoon because everyone at work.. has been spreading a darn bug.. around and I can't afford to be sick.. He gave me an antibiotic.. which has really helped.. and.. I got plenty of rest this weekend.. with my first two days off.. in almost a month.. Finally.. LOL

On my next two days off.. Papa and I are going to go to California to see my parents and sister & her family.. I can't wait.. it has been a long time since we have been to see them.. but we commuicate via emails.. and phone calls quite often.. That will be the weekend of October 11-13th.. I am so looking forward to it..

Well, Keep exercising.. I know you will get those last nasty 5 lbs.. off.. and it will be when you least expect it..

Hugs, Remember today is the first day of the rest of your life.. so.. don't waste it.. Smile and enjoy it..
