View Full Version : Introduction...
ReducingGirl 07-14-02, 11:43 AM Hi everyone,
Well, this is the first post of my Journal and I want to check in whenever I can to keep myself in check and update on my progress.
I don't have any set time frame in mind for posting in this Journal. Whatever feels good to me is what I will go with, whether that be twice a day, or twice a week!
I have been lurking on Diettalk for about 2 years now, so it's about time I posted, hey?:)
I've always got a lot of good ideas and encouragement from reading the posts on this site, so now I hope I can inspire myself and others from writing my own weight loss Journal.
Cheers,
ReducingGirl

Today has been a good day as far as dieting goes.
Ate small portions most of the day. Had a yummy dinner tonight of pasta, baked beans, tomatoes and zucchini with low-fat grated cheese on top.
Couldn't resist my usual dessert of low-fat ice-cream with milo and flaked almonds sprinkled on top. Really must cut down on the almonds or have none at all I think!
I started the day calorie counting but gave up, as it always drives me crazy to write everything down. I'm trying to take it easy and see how things go. In the last 6 weeks, I've already lost 8.5 pounds, so I have a bit of a head start, but still have a way to go.
Also used a pedometer for the first time today and did 6600 steps which took me about 40 minutes. Instead of walking around the streets, I walked up and down our long back patio out the back of our house. At least I didn't have to worry about cars or anything like that and I it didn't take much motivation to actually get going, which was great.
Looking forward to a positive tomorrow. I'll be weighing in at the Doctor's office some time this week, so I have to keep on track! Oh, and for me too of course.8-|
Cheers,
ReducingGirl

WELCOME TO DIETTALK AND TO THE JOURNAL FORUM.
I wanted to suggest you try www.fitday.com; you can enter your daily food allotment .... it totals # of calories you have consume as well as giving you reports as to whether you are meeting your nutritional needs.
CONTINUED SUCCESS ON YOUR WEIGHT LOSS PROGRAM. Always, Monica
mickeyvoll 07-14-02, 03:14 PM Hey there, Reducing Girl.
I'm glad you decided to join us, I'm sure you will find lots of support. Like Monica says, if you are calorie counting it might be easier and less hassle to do it on the computer. I used to calorie count on a programme called dietpower (which you do have to pay a small fee for registering) which helped me tremendously but now I am trying to stop counting and just eat when I am hungry and stop when I am full. It's difficult at first because I think I'm eating too much, but I haven't put any weight on, in fact my clothes are fitting me much better these days, so something is going in the right direction.
Anyway, good luck for your appointment at the doctor's tomorrow. I hope you have some good news - although 8.5 pounds in six weeks is absolutely brilliant.
Do you do any other exercise apart from walking?
Michaela
HeatherC 07-14-02, 05:16 PM Welcome Reducing Girl! Since you've been lurking for a while, you know this is a caring and supportive place. 8 lbs is wonderful! Congratulations for being well on the way.
I use a pedometer too, and love it. I am trying to work up to 10,000 steps a day (not just in one walk, lol) and have managed to get close a lot. That was so clever to get your walk on your deck! I do a half-mile loop around my house, over and over, lol.
Glad you decided to post! Best wishes for big losses! Heather
sandielynne 07-14-02, 08:40 PM Welcome to DT ReducingGirl,
It's always good to see new faces here. But I guess your face isn't so new, but your postings are. That's alright. I didn't recognize you until you posted.............tee hee.
It sounds like you already have a method that is working for you if you've lost 8.5 lbs. already. That's great ! Here's to your continued success.
Take care now
Sandie :)
Ruthieb 07-14-02, 11:35 PM Hello Reducing Girl, I just wanted to stop in and welcome you I hope I get to know you better. Ruthieb
ReducingGirl 07-15-02, 10:13 AM :)
Thanks everyone for your warm words of welcome and encouragement!
When I thought about 'falling off the wagon' today, I thought about how I had to post here and that helped me stay on track.
No, I don't do any other exercise other than walking occasionally. But I am trying to work up to doing it every day, that is my goal.
Today was good on the food side of things, but not so good on the exercise. No walking, just some running (well, not really running) around after our 6 month old twins. But unfortunately, that alone is not enough to shift this weight, I need to keep on aiming for that walk....
That's all for today. Oh, I do have a hypnosis CD for weight loss that I had personally recorded for me which I am about to listen to. It goes for an hour, so I have to do it once the babies are definitely asleep for the night. Being in Australia, it's 11pm here at the moment, so I'm going to settle onto the lounge soon to start listening. Hopefully, it will cement some weight loss ideas into my brainbox. I went for 2 sessions with the therapist who made the CD, and they were beneficial I think, as it was after that that I started losing some weight. So the idea is to listen to the CD regularly at home and it should surely help.
I'll report back tomorrow hopefully about how I went for the day and if the CD had any effect:)
Cheers,
ReducingGirl
Minnie mouse 07-15-02, 02:43 PM Hello! wow twins. are they boys, girls or one of each. identical or fraternal?
i cant even imagine. i have 3 kids and 1 step child and there all close in age. 12 1/2 , 11, 10, almost 9.
My youngest 2 are 20 months difference and when they were babies it felt like town.s diapers at the smae time and bottles and both in a crib. so i can relate somewhat.
well have a great day!
ReducingGirl 07-17-02, 07:00 PM Hi everyone!
Minnie - We have boy/girl fraternal twins, they are our first, but still keep me so busy. But it's all good, I love them to bits...
Michaela - No, I don't do any other exercise other than walking. To be honest, I hate exercise. I have to change that!
Well, I don't know if the Hypnosis CD has had any effect yet. I actually fell asleep 10 minutes into the 1 hour recording and woke up 3 hours later! So the next day, I rang the Hypnotherapist who said not to worry, it will be definitely working still, as your subconcious mind is taking everything in, even though you are asleep.
So, I must listen to it again very soon, as you are meant to do it every day.
Yesterday I had my weigh in at the Doctors and gained a pound:c(
But today on my own scales, it shows the same, so I'm not going to dwell on it too much. I just have to keep going...
I bought some Slimfast bars at the supermarket yesterday and plan on eating one or two of them through the day as part of my overall eating plan. I have no definite plan, just trying to eat well and move more:)
Well, that's it for today. Better go.
Best wishes to all,
Cheers,
ReducingGirl
