mcmarto 09-20-02, 12:12 AM Hey Buji!
I am here to talk...but I have nothing to talk about!...hahahaha...for once!
Well I was watching the news just now and they showed the mother on videotape repeatedly punching her child!...She knew she was doing something wrong because she looked around before she started doing it!...
Sad...........Have a great Friday!...Its the weekend...yaaaaaaaay!
mcmarto
MissChuckle 09-20-02, 06:27 AM Hi buji!
Looks like I missed the picture of you :c(
If I asked you really, really nicely would you put one up for me to see???? :rose:
You would? How sweet of you. Thanks.
But your avatar is really cute.
And mcmarto, yours is too.
Anyway, have a lovely weekend.
Chuckles
chumlette 09-20-02, 11:22 AM Good morning Buji. I think I might try to find one of your muffin recipes to give to my pet sitter for watching my small cat over the weekend. Of course, she gets money too, but she is sweet and cute and I want to give her a little treat also. Maybe the chocolate muffins? Then again, with my baking skills, she might be better off if I bought some Pillsbury Doughboy refrigerated kind of cookies to bake. hmmm.
Nanny, you being here is enough for me!!! no words needed!!!
Lutha, they're walking at that age, yes?? on no, I only want them until they start crawling then back they go!!! ha ha!!!
Mcmarto, I saw it on the news last night too...I hear she left the state now...I just hope she doesn't do something drastic to the child to try to cover it up...it's a tragedy things like that happen.
chuckles, I'll post a pic for you as soon as I figure out how to do it!! I tried to copy & paste in here but that's not working...I'll keep trying tho!!!
chum's gonna bake!!!! whoo hoo!!!! let me know how they turn out!!
I was just out the door, bike in hand when I felt water on my face...wouldn't that just burn you up!!!! X-( ...but I think it stopped so I'm going riding...yessirreee!!!!
summering 09-20-02, 01:21 PM Hi Buji
Sorry I have not dropped by for awhile , hope all is well with you . My girl has not been feeling well , so I've been a little stressed . She has not eaten since Wed. and I have not stopped ! Have to get some control.
Hope you have a great weekend !
Hi, buji! Thanks for stopping by my journal! :D
Did you get your ride in? It's been so cool here lately that it'd be perfect weather for a nice long bikeride! I don't think I've been on my bike since early this spring. Talking about here though has gotten me in the mood to drag it out and take it for a spin! :)
Hope you have a great weekend!
summering, I'm so sorry about your daughter not eating...you must be worried sick! I'll bet she just picked up one of those virus/cold thingees that has been going around lately...everyone seems to be getting it!!! Hope she gets better fast & is back to being her happy self!!:D
hi hms!!! glad you popped in!!! as a matter of fact, I did get in a nice long, up the hills ride earlier...as soon as the rain stopped!! I really miss riding regularly..I don't even know why I don't??!! me just being silly I think!! yes, definitely get it out & hop on...I'll bet you'll be so happy you did...and come back & tell me all about it too!!!
mickeyvoll 09-20-02, 02:42 PM Hi Buji
How's it going - done any baking this week (apart, of course, from the banana bread incident)?
StaceyJG1 09-20-02, 02:43 PM Buji,
Just wanted to stop in and let you know I'm still here and thinking about you! I have to get back to my exercising, I miss it! Gotta get unpacked first, though, but I am back on program!
Have a super-duper weekend!
Mickey, I did bake a hawaiin bread yesterday...a regular yeat bread but it's also got pineapple juice & brown sugar. it was ok, but I like plain ol bread better...the sweet part threw me off a bit, but my sweetie liked it so he can finish it!!
stacey, with all you've got to do, you still came to visit me!!?? how sweet you are!! now get back to your unpacking!! LOL!!!
I rode my bike today & also gave baths to sandi & tabitha...it was funny cause tabitha sat on the deck watching me do sandi, thinkin she was safe or something...next thing she knew, it was her turn!!! but she sat pretty still & never made a sound...such good babies!!!
mcmarto 09-20-02, 08:11 PM My DH worked too late on Thursday so I couldn't give the pugs a bath...they hate it!...They act like you are hurting them or something?
Thanks Miss Chuckles...my Olive makes a perfect avatar!...Soon I hope to put up a more recent photo!
Have a great weekend!
mcmarto
well sandi was never so good in her life...but I don't think she was happy about it!!! ha ha!!!! she just had no choice!!! for some reason this years been real bad with bugs or something...they both have red sores on them I guess from fleas!!!!! aurgh!!! they never had fleas before & now they don't again...poor babies...
I'm picturing the pugs getting their baths!!! too funny!!!
Minnie mouse 09-21-02, 12:37 AM Hello Buji~~

mcmarto 09-21-02, 03:32 AM Oh....poor doggies!

The pugs and I are up.........late.........we slept from 8:30 - 12:30 and now we are wide awake!...Its almost 2 in the morning!...

mcmarto

chumlette 09-21-02, 06:36 AM Hey Buji! Wanted to wish you a terrific weekend! Talk with you Monday! By the way, I didn't bake afterall...just am passing along a loaf of my mother's banana bread! haha Went with a sure thing.:D
babysat again last nite, this time for both grandkids...the 2 month old AND the 6 yr old!!!! was in a tailspin over what to do with this kid but she saw 2 movies I had & decided to park it in my bed, watch the movies & fall asleep...pretty easy eh??!! and the baby is so good, she hardly ever cries, although every time she made any kind of peeping sound Sandi was right there, like mama hen...we took pics, that's how cute it was!!! and picture this 110 pound huge headed reindeer alongside this tiny lil thing...I was worried at 1st thinking Sandi was gonna try to eat her or something...hey, ya never know sometimes what a dog will do around a baby & I wasn't taking any chances...but I kept hugging Sandi all nite long, it was so cute!!! Tabitha just ran & hid, the big wimp!!!
hi minnie, hope all is well & you have some time for yourself this weekend!!!
Mcmarto, bugs freak me out!! just the thought.....eeeeewwwww! if I knew you were on so late, I woulda popped on too !!
hey bell! I wish my area was a little less populated...I'd probably get out alot more...I knew I shoulda moved closer to the farmlands!!!:D
hi chum!! well, nothin beats Mom's baking, right?! you have a great weekend too!
I seem to have caught that nasty bug that's been floating around so I'm gonna head off to bed.
I hope everyone stays well & has a wonderful rest of the weekend!!
jukie1028 09-21-02, 10:15 PM Thanks for posting in my journal Buji, I really appreciate it.
Hope you feel better soon, I just got over it myself.
fleureange 09-21-02, 10:18 PM Hey Buji,
I hope the rest does you good and you get well. perhaps the rest will help so much that you'll be good as new in the morning. One can hope.
I haven't been around in a while, and just wanted to see how you were doing and to say hi.
Have a wondrerful Sunday and take good care of yourself.
Darlene
:bfly:

thanks guys for your well wishes...I'm feeling much better today!!!
fleureange 09-22-02, 12:24 PM Buji,
I'm doing good. I'm glad to be back. It was rough there for a while, but i'm ok now.
How are you feeling this morning? Better I hope.
Hope to see you tonight in the Cruise to Lose chat.
Take care,
Darlene :bfly:
mickeyvoll 09-22-02, 02:27 PM Hey pretty lady...
I'm glad you're feeling much better now, having a good night's sleep helps doesn't it?
Sounds like you had fun with the grandchildren. Are you going to teach them to bake and things like that when they get older? I thought it would be fun to cook with my partner's daughter a few years ago. I think she would be about 5 years old at the time. I was so stressed out by the end of it, I don't think I will be doing that again. We made gingerbread men, and I don't think she ate any of them!
Take care Buji.
mcmarto 09-22-02, 09:32 PM Oh...feel better soon!
Girl...you cannot possibly be a grannie?...You look much too young!
Hope you had a great Sunday!
mc
chumlette 09-23-02, 12:58 PM Oh Buj! You are so pretty! How are you feeling? Gosh a lot of people have been under the weather lately.
I made gingerbread men for DLIP last year for Christmas morning. I put blue sprinkles all over them, since he only celebrates Christmas for me (he's Jewish). They were delish. I couldn't believe I made them. Shocked, in fact.
Hope you are feeling better soon...
afternoon all!! yes, I slept till almost 11:30 this morning!!! ouch...
musta been all that cough syrup & benadryl kickin in.....zzzz....
Darlene, glad things are better lately...always like to hear that kinda news!! don't know when that chat was, but I guess I missed it...sorry!!
hiya mickey!! well, I don't know if I'd call it fun or not...but they didn't annoy me as much as I thought they would...maybe next time we can do some baking together, that might be fun after all!!!
mcmarto, I guess I could be a grannie cause my son is almost 23, but officially, these are my sweetie's grandkids so it really doesn't count!!! ha ha ha!!! or does it??!!! scary thought!!!!
chum, you DO say the sweetest things!!! don't tell me that's the last time you baked anything!!!????? you used cutters & everything??!! I don't think I ever made anything like that...I have a problem rolling dough out...it's always too thick or too thin! but I think that's so sweet that you do things like that for each other!!!
well, my son still hasn't shown up to mow the lawn so I guess that'll be 1 of my chores for today...I don't mind the mowing, it's the HILL that I can't stand...! better start sweating.... have a good one all!!!!
Minnie mouse 09-23-02, 09:01 PM much credit to you for mowing the grass. i used to do it when i lived with my parents then i developed allergies. my hubby is a grass cutting fanatic and our grass never grows high but i sneeze and cough from it.
i do all the chores inside and hubby does the yard. him being a landscaper the yard always looks nice.
thanks for posting in my journal and for all the support.
Hello Buji!
I'm sorry to hear you were under the weather. There seems to be quite a few people around here coming down with a nasty bug. Not fun!
When you finish mowing your lawn, do you want come over and mow mine too? :D Just kidding. I need the exercise and I really don't mind doing it. Sometimes it just seems like such a chore to do though! :o
Shannon
minnie, my son was supposed to do it, but he hasn't showed up yet...and that was thursday!!! is it any wonder I can't stand kids!!???? LOL!!!!
hi shannon!!!! thanks so much for dropping by!!! sure, I'll be happy to mow...I'n in MOW MOOD now I think...it wasn't so bad really...cept the darn thing kept turning off on me & I kept having to pull that silly cord!!!
and I really am feeling so much better now, but thank you!!!
Buji,
I am sick too. Head cold/sinusitis and now my ears are filling up with fluid.
I thought it would make you feel better to know you have company.
Andrea
mcmarto 09-24-02, 12:33 AM No Buji!...Technically...it doesn't count!...hahahahahaha!
Glad you are feeling better!...mcmarto
MissChuckle 09-24-02, 07:59 AM Hey buji
I love your picture. It's great. And it's given me the confidence to put my photo up too (now I just have to figure out what to do ...........)
I'm glad you're feeling better, it's never good when we're not feeling well (now that was an obvious thing to say if ever I heard one).
Have a lovely day today.
Anna
Lizzie B 09-24-02, 08:14 AM Hi buji,
We must be passing this head cold to each other. So that means it is my turn. I was going to try and pass on this one but didn't make it!! Actually I think I got this from my grandson. He was just starting to get sick when he was here.
Good you are feeling better. Just the right time of the year to start with colds and URI.
Well sweetie just stopped to say hi and wanted to wish you a happy day!!! We are having some real cool weather, pun intended. Enjoy!!!!!
Love and hugs,
Lizzie:rose: :rose:
mickeyvoll 09-24-02, 08:17 AM Morning (or afternoon - whatever) Buji!
We got rid of our grass, and put a patio down instead, because neither me nor my partner could be bothered to wade through the cat poo and mow it! Ughh, when I think about that grass it makes me want to puke!
Buji:
Is your son hiding out with mine?????????? He was suppose to cut the grass here while I was at work last night. But according to the latest lawn review that didn't happen and he didn't come home last night...Hmmmmmmmmm
So I will cut it this morning. O well wonder what he will say when he has no clean underwear!!!!!!!
Hope your feeling better and have a great day.
Judy2:rose:
lutha2018 09-24-02, 12:06 PM Hi Buji,
I mentioned it in my journal but this is the more appropriate place--I love the picture/avatar! I agree with Mcmarto, you don't look old enough to have grandkids (or even a 23 year old son). (Whereas a little idiot working at Sears asked if my son was my grandson when I picked up his pictures...now that really made me feel bad.) I'll bet you don't have that problem!
That's going above and beyond, cutting the grass when you're suffering from a cold. I hope it's just about cleared up now.
chumlette 09-24-02, 02:18 PM I hope you are feeling better today, Buji. I miss the smell of mown grass. I've always loved that.
fleureange 09-24-02, 03:52 PM Hi there Buji,
I hope you feeling better. You must be to tackle the lawn. I know it needs to be done, but when I'm sick, everything waits. They get sick and their chores wait, so so can mine.
I can just imagine what you son will say about no clean underwear. LOL At 21, he could do his own anyway. (I assume he's 21) I mean who has time to do laundry anyway when there is a lawn to mow. hehehehe
Well, have yourself a great day and take care.
Darlene
:bfly:
mdonna612 09-24-02, 06:13 PM Just a holler as those in the south would say. Am so sleepy I am gonna lie in the sun and read. Hope to fall asleep for a short nap. Had a great time over at Angie's house celebrating a mutual friend's birthday. Guess there is always a bit of envy when I see her at her house. Mostly a happiness over her inheriting her childhood home. It is hard to simulate that big house---5000 sq ft was part of her inheritance. Yes, she grew up there but had an odd childhood. Most of her married life she lived in a trailer.
Better scoot.
Donna
mcmarto 09-24-02, 07:38 PM Buji....whats worse?
Mice or lice?
mcmarto:rose:
tmayder 09-25-02, 11:05 AM It's 2C outside and I still have not done all the junk that I should do to get the lawn and garden ready for winter. I guess I had better get myself busy and do that today. I usually leave the mowing to the hubby, but he doesn't seem too motivated. I'm always scared to do the mowing, even once, for fear that it will become *my* job.
Hope you are having a good week!
Cheers!
Linda
MissChuckle 09-25-02, 12:23 PM Hi buji.
How's it going?
Things ok with you??
hi guys...boy, I've missed you all!!!! My main carrier was having some kind of problem & I wasn't able to get into any of my sights, my favorite being THIS one!!! 24 hrs away from you all seems like a lifetime!!!!
I guess we all have the same feelings about mowing, eh???? ha ha!!!!
and is this site really slow again or is it just me?? last time I was here, I tried getting to everyone's journals, but man, it takes forever.....if I missed anyone, I'm sorry...the intention was there tho, I promise!!!!
gonna hit each of your journals now, instead of replying in here...too slow & then I miss what you've all been up to LOL!
I feel almost 100% better now, cept for a slight cough, but with the smoking that usually hangs around a while anyway so can't complain about that...tho I ran out of my potassium pills & need to re-stock...thank goodness I still have plenty of Vit C left!!!
I have been good...eating lots of veggies (tho yesterday I drank only coffee, NO water at all...how bad is that!!??)
I did the LS advanced step & also the 1 & 2 mile of the 4 mile...was in a hurry & couldn't wait but wanted to get a walk in just the same...also did my weights...I'm very proud of me... hee hee!!!! nothing like a pat on the ol back, eh!!! ok, I'm off to journal!!!!!!
Minnie mouse 09-25-02, 10:09 PM i had trouble getting on here tonight it kept telling me busy or broken server and would not display page. i had to go to keyword weight loss support and then go on it.
i was aggravated but i made it here anyways.
well i see your posting everywhere so you must of been able to get into the journals faster.
have a good night and thanks for all your kind support. its nice to have such good friends here and your one of them.
StaceyJG1 09-25-02, 11:41 PM Buji,
I'm glad you're feeling better! I tried to get into chat tonight and couldn't. I was disappointed! I finally remembered, and couldn't get there.
Have a great night!
Hello Buji!
Isn't it funny how addictive this place is? I was in and out for about 2 months, but I've been back here daily for about a week now. I should be in bed, but I wanted to get on here so bad that I'm staying up late! :o
I'm glad to hear you're feeling better! Sounds like there are LOTS of colds going around lately! Not fun!
Have a great Thursday! :D
MissChuckle 09-26-02, 04:52 AM I think I'll add to the pats on your back. *thud* oops, sorry, guess I just don't know my own strength!
Anyway, well done for all that exercise even when you're in a rush, and for eating all those veggies. Although god knows how you managed to cope for a day on just coffee - I can't stand the stuff myself.
Oh well, have a great day, and I'll see you again soon.
Anna
chumlette 09-26-02, 07:52 AM I seem to be following Chuckles everywhere this morning. And she always gets to the congratulating first, too. Sigh. Maybe she's right. Maybe we shouldn' t have kicked out the British. I mean, then we'd all be on the same time zone right?
Yippee Skippee! You are well and you are exercising up a storm! I must say...I am thrilled!
:tongue:arty:
Buji:
Glad to see your feeling better. :) Hope you have a wonderfull day.
Judy2
MissChuckle 09-26-02, 09:43 AM Chum - I never said you shouldn't have kicked out the British - that was Nanny.
Besides, if my memory of American history serves me right, there wasn't much kicking out, more buying out.
mdonna612 09-26-02, 12:58 PM Hey Buji
Not much time to converse. Computer was down last night and lost this morning going to computer doctor.
:D
Gotta scoot if going to get anything done. Got any receipe for a crockpot using boneless chicken? Hard to believe I'm intimidated by a crockpot.
Donna
hi guys...man this site is still giving me problems....so slow!!!!!!
we seem to all be having them lately, that, & all this sickness!!!! thank heavens we're a cheery bunch!!!!! was journaling most of the morning but why must it take so long!!??? how can I do my exercise, drink my water & do my weights when I'm always on here???? LOL!!!!!
minnie, you are the best!! but I don't have to tell you that, you already know it!!! aw shucks, I'll tell you anyway!!!!
stacie, so glad things are getting better for you lately...finally!!! don't think I caught but 1 chat so far....I try at least!!!!
hms, talk about addictive!!! you are so right!!!! but if it keeps us going then this is the place to be, yes??!!!
anna, ouch!!! that hurt!!! ha ha!!! did I tell you I loved your pic??!! yes, I think I did....but 1 more time won't hurt!!!!
chum, I think I yelled at you in your journal already....I want you to buckle down, you hear??!!! you got alot of stuff in the works right now...you can do it!!!!
judy, I have to get back to your journal!!! where is it hiding these days!!??? hope all is well with you & Laurel!!!!
donna, I don't have a crockpot but I'll look & see if I have any recipes for you!!! I save everything!!!!
Well, there was that Revolutionary War that we fought to win our independence and become our own Sovereign Nation. But the Brits lost (HA ha!) so maybe they don't teach that in Brit schools.
My Great Grandfather was a loyalist and he would say that he was not bought out. In fact he lost his land and all he had just because he was a loyalist. Thankfully he settled on Prince Edward Island.
Do they teach you guys about the War of 1812 when the US tried to invade and capture Canada. It is hard to believe you guys lost a war to Canada. We were pretty much British back then. The only war we would win these days is on the ice with a stick and a puck.
MissChuckle 09-26-02, 02:35 PM No, it's just that I never really paid attention in US history lessons. I just knew that France owned a lot of America.
PS sorry buji for starting a mini history lesson in your journal.
Forgive me?
I know what you mean about spending too much time here (it's my 3rd post here today!!
Sorry for clogging.(up your journal)
the more I learn, the smarter I get...not a problem!!! you guys are pretty interesting actually!!!!
while I'm here, let me mention that I did my weights...did the 4 mile leslie sansone (I really love that tape!!!) & had s2 whole wheat matzos with trader joe's spicy black bean dip. oh, and 1 huge water so far.. I leave out saying anything about the coffee because that's a done deal anyhow!!! LOL!!!
need to buy more potassium, vit C & B vitamins...had no idea I was almost out!!!
mcmarto 09-26-02, 07:22 PM Hey Buji!
You are right...this site has been slooooooowwww!...3 days in a row for me!...It drives me mad!
Gee...I come to your journal and get schooled!...hahahahaha!
Congrats on all the exercise!
mcmarto
hey Mc!!! isn't it a royal pain??!!! and with so much catching up to do too!!!!
I never did so well in geography in school so this is my chance to catch up!!!!
As I understand it, Canada was made a Commonwealth Nation by Britain in 1867. In 1812, Provinces existed but they reported directly to Great Britain. So we were technically beaten by Brits living in Canada in the War of 1812, not truly Canadians. Which is still surprising. And it is taught in US schools, for those who can turn off the Sex Pistols long enough to learn about it.
And the purchasing of land for America began in the early 1800's, after it had won its war with Britain and declared itself an independent country in the previous century.
Hi Buji! Good for you on the exercise! Nice of you to provide this journal space for a little international bantering!
no problem, kilogo...and thanks much!
well, I popped my corn so it's off to my bed for tv & knitting....have a great evening all!!!!
suicidekills 09-27-02, 12:25 AM hi, buji. No, christina has not deserted you. busy and tired! Ahhh! Talk to you later.
MissChuckle 09-27-02, 07:17 AM Hi buji.
Well done on all that exercise, and water, and healthy food and stuff.
Did you get the vitamin tablets that you need? I've taken the easy route, and gone for the multi-vitamin and mineral tablet - just one to remember that way.
Thanks for explaining it to me kilogo. We did study US history for a while, but I was more interested in the stuff about the American Indians, and General Custer and the Battle of Little Bighorn! (that's about all I remember to be honest). But it's not that I'm just not interested in other countries - my knowledge of Uk history is pretty dire too. :o
DT's not been too slow for me. :D I suppose maybe a little slower than normal.
Anyway, hope you're well, and rested for the day ahead (weekend tomorrow! yay!)
christina, how are you & then new job doing??!!! I gotta get back into your journal...it's in hididng again I think!!! but good to see you anyways!!!!!
hey anna!! I take one of those also, but the extra kick of the potassium keeps me from getting leg cramps for some reason, which I was getting pretty regularly...toes curling up & everything!!!! there must not be enuff of it in the multi!? or maybe I just like poppin pills!!????? could be.....?:D
mdonna612 09-27-02, 12:01 PM Buji
Flex exercise might help some with leg cramps but even more is pinching either the upper or lower lip hard as you slowly extend the cramping leg. Suppose to be some nerve that run from the lip to leg that eases the extreme conductivity of the cramping muscle. Pinch it using the thumb and index finger.
It does work. I don't get cramps often in my legs. Been told bananas are great source of potassium and often potassium deficits can cause cramping, especially if you take some kind of diuretic/water pill.
Just some information----a Donna FYI.
Donna
MissChuckle 09-27-02, 12:11 PM I often get cramps when I'm short of water, and when I'm short of salt - do you cut down too much on the salt maybe?? When I'm on holiday (when I eat no processed food, and live mostly on salad) I get a lot of cramps unless I have a lot of salt (I'm not a salt person really, so I just pour a little into my hand, swallow it, and then drink a lot of water.
Donna, don't let Mickey hear you about pinching the lip!!! she's still suffering over squeezing her big toe for her headache!!! LOL!!!
but yes, acupressure is great, at least if you know what you're doing!! :D I also have a book on reflexology, using the feet to comabt all kinds of good stuff!!!
Anna, bananas are wonderful, yes!!!! I love them, even tho they give me stomach cramps sometimes...that & fresh pineapple, which I also love!!! I don't use too much salt anymore & I drink tons of water, most of the time anyway.. but maybe I cut down a little too much?! is there a big difference in using the iodized or the non-iodized ya think?? I don't use it as much as the sea salt these days...
Anastasia 09-27-02, 06:18 PM What a delighful surprise - history lessons on DT!
Calcium helps prevent cramps too. And the best place to work for a headache (besides directly on the neck) is the tender spot in the pad between your thumb and first finger (unless you're in the first 3 months of pregnancy as working that point intensely could cause miscarriage).
Cheers,
anastasia, how be you!!????
well if it's calcium, I sure get planty of that!! at least a gallon a day plus tons of yogurt too!!!!
ew!!!....glad you mentioned about the pregnancy...just in case!!
you come to buji's place & there ain't nothin can't be learned!!! hee hee!!!!
tmayder 09-27-02, 11:08 PM I also have leg cramps when I don't get enough water.
You are doing so darned great on your exercise!! I guess that has a little something to do with you being so close to goal!! The hard work is certainly paying off!
I had an accupressure massage done with a little reflexology because of a sciatic nerve. I thought they would have to carry me out of there. I could just barely get my shoes on to leave and as luck would have it, my car was parked across the street. I was seriously hurting all night, but I felt much better the next morning.
It sure makes me wonder if she made me hurt on purpose just so I could feel some relief the next day... :)
Cheers!
Linda
MissChuckle 09-28-02, 05:34 AM Hi buji.
Been thinking about the cramp thing some more. My mum used to get really bad cramps, and the doctor gave her quinine for it - so maybe you should drink lots of gin!!!
Just a thought:D
Linda, why is it we appreciate our bodies so much when the pain goes away!!??? yet, when we feel good, we do all kinds of things to ourselves to punish our bodies!!!???? I need to figure that one out!!! do you eat alot of bananas?? you should!!!!
as for the exercise, it seems to be getting harder & harder to stay motivated...I have subscriptions to just about every magazine now..shape, fitness etc... and they seem to help me a bit!
Anna, Vodka is usually my drink, but I guess I can't be fussy when there are health benefits to consider, yes!!!???? :D
sandielynne 09-28-02, 05:15 PM Hey Buji,
I finally caught up with you woman! Now, you going to sit still long enough to even read this? I doubt it. You are probably over visiting with Kilogo right now, or is it Minnie Mouse?
You having trouble with leg cramps eh? I used to take quinine for that too, but now you have to have a stupid prescription for it. I can't figure out why. Maybe someone found a way to misuse it, I guess.
I always thought I got the cramps from not moving around enough. But knowing you exercise, that can't be true now, can it?
Oh well. I wanted to tell you, I went looking for Phoenix on the map. Now I see, you are just on the other side of Syracuse. Is it very far time wise? Gee, I should be able to get to Syracuse by myself. It doesn't look that difficult once I get on route I-81 north. Maybe one of these days I will show up. That would shock the daylights out of you, wouldn't it?
Maybe one day we can find our way to Chumlette's......hahahaha. She does live in New York, right? Maybe she can meet us somewhere. Wow we need a hub place. Oh well, no rush, that's for sure.
Hope you're having a good weekend kiddo.
Enjoy!~Enjoy!
Sandie :D
jukie1028 09-28-02, 06:19 PM Bananas for leg cramps, it works well for me. Usually. Ask me again at 2 in the morning when I've got poor Rick massaging my calf.
Thanks for your note in my journal! I truly appreciate the support. As for exercise motivation.. hmmmm.... that is a hard one. How about just because it's for you, and only you can benefit from it? One of those things (not terribly fun, I know) that you do for yourself because the end result is a worthy goal. If only I can remember that myself!
StaceyJG1 09-28-02, 06:36 PM Buji,
I get horrible feet cramps when I don't have enough water. I can always tell when they're starting and drink more water, but it takes a while to help. I HATE BANANAS!! Just the smell makes me sick. I do take a diuretic, that is supposed to be potassium-sparing. They suggested I drink OJ for potassium.
How did your journal turn into the doctor's forum, anyway?
If Sandie comes up to visit, she'd better see me too! I'm only a few miles North! We'll have to grab Anita, too, and all meet her. Sounds like fun!
Hope you're having a great weekend!
sandie, like stacey said, we are just a hop & a skip from syracuse...maybe all of 20 minutes?! and yes, I would be truly shocked, but in a great way, if you ever showed up!!!! then we would have to hunt down stacy & anita & go out & party & not worry about calories or nuthin all nite long!!!! wheeee!!!!!
see, I sat still long enuff to read my journal!!!!
let me also say that I have been on DT since 1pm this afternoon & it is now 6:17pm...that is how long it takes to do the journals!!! I hate having to miss anyones, but STILL, I haven't got thru them all...now is that slow or what!!!????? I love to read the journals but just wondered if it takes anyone else as long??!! sheer madness I tell you!!! oh well....la la la!!!!
the potassium pills are GREAT!!! I get em at walmart & they're pretty reasonable for a great big bottle of them...which I now have to share with sweetie cause he's been getting cramps lately...he HATES to take pills so I gotta force feed them to him, but what can ya do!!?? LOL!!!
Julie, I guess we do what we gotta to get where we wanna...hey, that was almost a rhyme!!!! but you know what I mean!!! as long as we got each other we'll be ok, right!!??
stacie, you reminded me of when I get the cramps, 1st in the toes...then in the calves & then in the thighs!!!!!! my god!!!! it is the most awful thing!!!!!! all that curling of bone can't be good!!!! aurgh!!!!!
ok, I'm off to finish...I remembered some people I forgot!!!!
I think it takes you a long time because you know everyone. I hope you had a great Saturday on your computer. I am watching the children tonight. The Mum and Dad are at a ball.
I think it will be a simple movie night...then off to bed with them so I can curl up with a book.
BYE!!!!
Andrea
Nanny, it's funny you say that because I have stopped going into the new people's journals now....I barely have time as it is & would rather be in the journals of the people I already know!!
"at a ball"...that sounds like Cinderella!! you never hear about people going to balls anymore...at least not around here!! were they all dressed up in tuxedo & flowing gown???!!! oh, how wonderful!!!! I'll bet they'll be waltzing too...I remember "shall we dance" from the king & I...I would grab my brother & make him waltz with me around the livingroom...it was almost like being on a fun ride!!!!!
so what book are you reading these days??
Buji:
How are you girl? Sorry it's been awhile since I stopped in here but life has been a bit hetic for me to say the least. And I have been having terrible headaches due to the weather. Hopefully they will be better this week as I miss coming into DT and the journals.
Laural and I watched the Green Mile last night with Tom Hanks. I have seen it before but it was just as good as the first time. Always makes the both of us cry it's so sad. Laural has soccer today so we will be back on the fields at 3 pm. She is trying out for another team this year. She is excited and apprehensive at the same time. Onwards and upwards as she says though:)
Have a wonderfull Sunday.

Minnie mouse 09-29-02, 01:35 PM Hello Buji~~
hope your sunday is going great.
well the only time i get leg cramps is standing too long at work on cement floors. it hurts some days but some days not at all.
it is a nice day here today so im trying to get caught up on journals before i go pick up the kiddies.
talk to you later.
and take care:rose:
jukie1028 09-29-02, 03:00 PM Hey buji,
Hope you're having a great day! It's lovely here, and I'll be walking my butt off in just a very little while (if I can ever get up from this chair :D )
Lasagna for dinner tonight, and I suppose I'll have salad though you told me not to have any. ;o) I mean, it's lasagna after all!!
hi judy!!! I'm sorry to hear about your headaches.....wow, between colds, flu's & headaches these days, I wonder if anybody feels good anymore...must be in the water!!??? I hope you feel better soon & good luck to laurel on making the new team...which I have no doubt at all that she will!!!!
oh, I cry at that movie too!!! I love it!!! that big guy is such a sweetie, I swear it broke my heart what they did to him!!!
minnie, thanks for stopping by!!!! I'm glad you don't get the leg cramps more than you already do...you must have good shock absorbers on those feet of yours!:D
hey julie!!! gosh, I haven't done a thing about exercise OR food yet today...cept for cooking it!!! my son is coming to dinner with his girlfriend (meeting her for the 1st time & all!) so I made baked ziti, pasta fagiole (cause of the chill in the air!) and pecan chewies for dessert. of course he's already late so I'll be lucky if they show up!!! but I'll do my tapes later on...can't wait!!!
yummy salad!!!! guess you can't wait!!! ha ha ha!!!!
Buji your dinner sounds wonderful! I just had baked ziti for the first time about a month ago. I thought it was really good!
Anyway, I hope your dinner went well and that you like your son's girlfriend. :)
See you tomorrow!
jukie1028 09-29-02, 09:34 PM Great minds and all that buji...
We had lasagna here tonight, I was good and used fat free ricotta with just a little (sort of :o ) mozarella and cheddar added.
I DID do my exercise tape though, bad back or not.
What's your recipe for the pecan chewies? As if I need to be collecting more dessert-type recipes... speaks volumes about me that my cookbook is mostly deserts. 8-|
Hope you like your son's girlfriend!
sandielynne 09-29-02, 09:37 PM  Hello Buji!
So good to come here and stop for a moment and see how you are doing. About the time it takes getting around the journals, you got it about right. It takes me about three days now to get to everyone, and I know I'm still missing folks, but what can you do? So if you see me more than twice a week, you are really lucky......hahahhaa.
I'm going to let you all relax for a while, ok? I won't be making any trips up Syracuse way now for the rest of the year, no doubt. But next spring is a different matter altogether. Besides, if we're also meeting Stacey and Anita, we want to be sure it will be a nice time of year when we can be more sure of the sun making the day pleasant.
Another thing, if we're going to party all night, who's planning on putting me up. I don't plan on heading home at 3 am, if you don't mind...............hahaha. Hey, another idea? Maybe Minnie Mouse can join me for this trip. Wow, that would be a party. Five women on the loose.......hahahhaa.
I hope you are getting any leg cramp problems taken care of. And yes, about the virus, flu, or whatever is going around, I think it must be air borne because EVERYONE seems to have it. Lucky for me (and I'm knocking on wood at this very moment) I have so far avoided it, or should I say it has avoided me? Whatever, I'm so glad it's stayed it's distance, and I hope it continues to do so. Everyone sounds totally miserable, and I hate being sick.......haha.
Take care. Make it a great week and enjoy every day of it.
Enjoy!~Enjoy!
Sandie :D
Hi Buji thanks for stopping by my journal. I got really busy with work and let everything else including me fall apart. I've got to get back on track this week. Buji --- great pic.
chumlette 09-30-02, 06:47 AM Hello from the couch! Missed you! How did it go with your son and his girlfriend? She is so lucky to get to eat at your house...yum. Just wanted to pop in and say, "hey!" Do those magazines really help w/exercise motivation?
Lizzie B 09-30-02, 08:06 AM HI buji,
Just out bright and early to see what is happening in the world. Thanks for stopping by and throwing some support my way. Lived through a tough weekend but I am still here. Still fighting that bug that is hunting people down and making them miserable for days!!
Have a super day!!
Love and many hugs,
Lizzie
hi all!!!!!
the dinner went well, but as it turns out the girlfriend is diabetic & didn't have any cookies...but I had 2, shame on me, plus 4 pecan sandies!!!!!! I had such a craving so I figured I would just give in to it & get it out of my system...it's been so long since I had cookies & didn't want to risk an all-out binge so what the hay!!! but greg thought they were yummy so that was good. she is real nice plus she has a good sense of humor & seems very mature too, which he needs to get him motivated I hope!!!
Julie, your lasagna sounds good!!!!!
here is the recipe..feel free to substitute whatever nut tickles your fancy...I've used almonds (yummy!!!!) pecans & also walnuts..whatever I have on hand...you can even do without the nuts & throw in choc chips or butterscotch chips or whatever...it's a very easy & delicious recipe!!!!
Butter Nut Chewies:
1/2 cup butter, melted (1 stick) use BUTTER only, trust me!
2 eggs
2 cups brown sugar, packed (I've also used honey)
1 tsp. vanilla
1 1/2 cups flour, all purpose unbleached
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup nuts, chopped
Beat eggs, sugar, vanilla and butter until creamy. Stir together dry ingredients; blend into butter mixture. Stir in nuts. Spread in a buttered 9 x 13" baking pan. Bake 25-30 minutes at 350° until lightly browned. Cool completely and cut into bars.
Cut down on the salt if the nuts you use are salted, like cashews or macadamias!
hms, 1st time for baked ziti?? wow!!! it's good, isn't it??? I like to throw veggies in it too, sometimes..brocolli, spinach, whatever!!!
sandie, with my big empty house now, you'd have your choice of rooms to stay at...can't have you driving home in a drunken stupor now, can we??!!! I'm glad you've avoided that awful plague so far!!!!! hee hee!!!!!
chum, hope you're felling a bit better these days!!!!! the magazines are a big help...I love the stories & all the hints too...new exercises to try...lots of good stuff!!!
lizzie, you're a tuff bird...you can make it thru anything you set your mind too, remember that!!!! and keep taking vit C stuff like OJ & all to battle that bug!!!
lee, what a nice surprise!!!! get back on track now, I won't let you fall apart...I'll be keeping my eye on you!!!!
well, gotta go & work off those cookie calories...but they were sure worth it!!!!
have a great day everyone!!!!
StaceyJG1 09-30-02, 12:34 PM Buji,
Nothing wrong with a treat now and then, definitely better than a binge!! I copied your recipe too. Sounds yummy!! Have any suggestions for pie crusts??? I just found out that my stepdaughter and her hubby are coming up for Thanksgiving and I have never made a pie from scratch. That's what my hubby wants, so I'll learn how. He likes apple, blueberry, raspberry, but makes it very clear that the secret is the crust! I've always used premade! Just thought I'd throw that out there!
Have a great day. Talk to you later!
Hi Buji :)
I finally found some time today to read and post in some journals - sure did miss this....
Here is a tip to help your hubby swollow his pills - wrap them in cheese or something else he likes , like you would for a pet ;)
Just teasing.....
I too eat bannanas to help with leg cramps and take a mag/calcium supplement........
Jade
Minnie mouse 09-30-02, 08:15 PM Hello Buji~~
glad the dinner went well and of course a few cookies is much better than a binge. if i crave something i eat it or else i end up binging so you did good.
its not like you eat cookies every day by the bagful so be proud of yourself. we all deserve treats.
i would be also interested in homeade pie crusts and recipes. i never made a pie from scratch but hubby loves apple pie and would love to suprise him. ive made pies using premade crust.
well have a great night.
sandielynne 10-01-02, 12:07 AM Hey there Buji ~
Sounds like you all had a great successful dinner and evening with your son and his girlfriend. That's so nice. It's so much better when the sweetie and the parents get along well. I bet your son had a nice sigh of relief seeing you all having a good time together.
I wouldn't worry about those cookies. Actually, you did the best thing. It's definitely wiser to have some rather than feel you are restricted. Oh, I hate that word. One of my most favorite treats are Hershey's candy kisses. If I were watched like a hawk and my family went to all lengths to keep them from me, binging is exactly what I would do. But instead, if I really feel the need for them, I will buy a bag and keep them in the fridge, and they will sit in there for months. Just so I can have 1 or 2 on occasion, I do just fine.
Thanks for offer of a place to stay. I will definitely give it some thought, and possibly next year sometime we will work out the details. Actually I never have to worry about driving schnookered. I don't drink alcoholic beverages. But I would worry about falling asleep at the wheel on a trip that long.....haha.
Ok kiddo, you take care and have a great week. Off to bed for me now.
Enjoy!~Enjoy!
Sandie :D
Buji~~
I am going to try out your recipe when I have some company over. If I made them now I'd devour the entire batch myself! They sound wonderful!
Glad to hear the dinner went well and you liked your son's girlfriend! That's always a big plus!
My note's going to be short tonight b/c I'm exhausted and need to head to bed. Plus I'm having a brain fart and can't think of a single thing to type! :o So anyway I hope you have a GREAT Tuesday! :D
'Night! I-)
chumlette 10-01-02, 06:58 AM Hi Buji! The dinner sounds wonderful. BTW, I do the same thing with my lasagna. I make lasagna all the time and usually use FF ricotta as well. But sometimes I use Morningstar Farms Crumbles instead of meat and I always add extra veggies. DLIP loves it and he hates everything healthy (hell, who doesn't?). Have a great day, my friend!
lutha2018 10-01-02, 05:04 PM Hi Buji! Wow, I learn so many things here on DT...perhaps I will feel motivated to make your Butter Nut Chewies for the potluck at work this month. In the meantime, I'll set my sights on some lasagna with FF ricotta that your visitors have been talking about.
I hope you are getting to ride your bike. Has it gotten cold there yet? It was surprisingly brisk on my walk this morning--my ears got cold!
Take care
mcmarto 10-01-02, 10:18 PM Gee...your journal is hopping!
Now what's this I read about cookies?...hahahahaha!
Have a great Wednesday...I will...I am going to meet some friends after school to go see "Sweet Home Alabama"...I think that's what its called?...Fun!
mcmarto:D
MissChuckle 10-02-02, 04:45 AM Hi buji.
I can see you better now, which is definitely a good thing.
You can borrow my glasses if you want. (but it might make things a bit hard for you - with walls curving around all over the place).
I'm glad you like the son's girlfriend, makes life so much easier.
Don't worry about the cookies. It doesn't matter, unless you do it all the time. Which we know you don't.
Make today a good one.
Chuckles
chumlette 10-02-02, 07:10 AM Hello, Buji. How are you doing? I was just thinking about you and your search for work and all. How is that going anyway? I'm reading some of the posts here and thinking that I may be one of the very few here at DT who is not a great cook! I try and I try (I cook all the time), but it never tastes delicious and sometimes even looks worse...LOL Your thing is obviously baking. My mom's thing, too. Though, I'll admit, I can make a mean loaf of bread (I took a class at the local chef's school...LOL).
I hope you have a wonderful day and are back with the program.
hi you guys!!!! Please forgive me for not being on the past 2 days...I have applied for a job in Arizona and I have been going crazy trying to find all my old govnt paperwork, filling out what I think I can do (a resume, I think it's called LOL) , and for other jobs that have a deadline that ends this week!!!!! talk about going nuts!!! paperwork is not my thing at all, I must admit & if I don't get something in the govnt by then end of the year, I'm screwed....so this will be brief...forgive me please!!!!!
I'll just mention about pie crusts 1st...and I'll post a recipe to follow...but make sure the dough is handled as little as possible...use ice cold water to mix...after you combine everything wrap it loosely in plastic & toss in the fridge!!! make it cold & bake it hot!!! your oven must be preheated & hot at the right temp...oh, & practice makes perfect, as they say!!!! if you use a really great fresh LARD, you'll have the flakiest of pastries...I gave up meat so I don't...but a combo of pure butter & crisco works just as good, in my opinion anyway....!!!
here's the crust...fill it with whatever you like & follow your recipe to bake. if there is a specific recipe you might want, let me know!!
I'm more into bread baking (CHUM!!) than pie making...got a rye going right now by the way!!!!
Here's the recipe from Cook's Illustrated, it's the ONLY crust I use now. I made some modifications to the original amounts for the 10" crusts. (AP flour just means all purpose!!)
9" single crust
1 1/4 cups AP flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tblsp. sugar
6 tblsp. unsalted butter
4 tblsp. Crisco
3-4 tblsp. ice water
Mix dry ingredients in a large bowl. Cut in butter and Crisco. Stir in enough water to form a cohesive dough, but not to wet. Wrap in plastic wrap and chill at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 days.
9" double crust - double the above recipe.
10" single crust
1 cup plus 6 tblsp. AP flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/2 tblsp. sugar
7 tblsp. unsalted butter
4 tblsp. Crisco
3.5 - 5 tblsp. ice water
10" double crust
2 3/4 cups AP flour
1 tsp. salt
2 1/2 tblsp. sugar
13 tblsp. unsalted butter
9 tblsp. Crisco
7-9 tblsp. ice water
buji heres wishing you blessing in looking for the right job for you :)

Lizzie B 10-02-02, 07:10 PM Hi buji,
Good luck on the job hunt!! Hope you find what you are looking for!!
Love and hugs,
Lizzie
Hi Buji!! Good Luck on the job front.
Take care!!
sandielynne 10-02-02, 09:46 PM Hello Buji,
Wow, you planning on moving all the way out to Arizona? Sheesh, I guess I won't be visiting with you then now, will I? LOL
You know, I always had the damnedest time with pie crust. Then a friend shared her recipe with me. It calls for a tablespoon of vinegar. I can't begin to tell you what a difference that made. My pie crusts would always fall apart when I was trying to roll them out. So I would try over and over and over. I'm sure you know what that did to them. They turned into rubber and just tore easier and easier each time I tried to roll them. That doesn't happen with the new recipe including vinegar. They roll out nice as you please with no problems whatever.
Well lady, I'm sorry you are so busy, but if you can get a job your truely want and will enjoy, then you got to go after it with all you got. Good luck kiddo. Wishing you the very best, always.
Enjoy!~Enjoy!
Sandie
mcmarto 10-03-02, 12:44 AM You are quite the cook!
Thanks for all the great recipes!
Have a great Thursday!

chumlette 10-03-02, 08:50 AM Buji! Good luck with all your applications! I can't wait to hear how it goes!
I love Cooks' Illustrated, btw. Do you ever watch America's Test Kitchen? Anyway, they always have the best recipes (though not the lowest in calories, ha). Figures you would use it a lot, since you are a such an amazing cook...
StaceyJG1 10-03-02, 01:48 PM Buji,
Thanks so much for the recipe! I will be trying it out this weekend. Have to practice before Thanksgiving!
What's this about Arizona?? You leaving us already? :(
Details, woman, we want details!!
StaceyJG1 10-03-02, 02:46 PM Buji,

hi guys!!! thanks for all your well wishes on the job front...it seems the more paperwork I send these people, the more they want!!!!!
Arizona doesn't look too good so far (thank god!!) because there is alot of "over my head" network/server stuff that I really never did at my old job...being 1 of the "older" folks there, and a female, I was often stuck having to answer the phone or babysit the office while the others ran off & got to learn good stuff...but I really don't wanna go there...wah!!! so I'll send my stuff in & just be honest about my skills, or lack there-of & see what happens, right?! everything works out 1 way or the other, for a reason :D
stacey, I'll still be here......I'm your neighbor, remember!!?? hope all is going well with you, the family & the house!!!
chum, I like the magazine & their website but I never did catch their show...my 1 station (PBS) comes in with sound but no picture & that's probably where they have it....I miss "baking with julia" all the time!! :c(
Mcmarto, if there's a recipe out there, then I probably have it!! hee hee!!! so if there's anything you want, let me know!!!
Sandie, I am by no means a great baker or a great chef, honest I'm not!!!! I also have a few different vinegar recipes too, that my friends all swear by, but since I never tried them I only listed the one I've used before.....and my last pie baking episode was over 6 months ago!!! like I said, I do much better baking a loaf of bread LOL!!!
Lee & Lizzie, how are you both doing!!!??? Lizzie, you make my mouth water thru most of my day!!! (uh oh, wonder what people will think about THAT lil statement!!)
aside from doing this boring paperwork, I have been doing my exercises & eating healthy.... tho I haven't been riding my bike...hopefully I'll be done with this stuff by tomorrow & get to visit all you sweetie pies again!!!!
be good all!!!!!

mcmarto 10-04-02, 12:48 AM Hey Buji!
Have a great Friday and an even better weekend!
Here's a challenge...I need a recipe for "Fried Green Tomatoes!"...I had some in Atlanta that were sooooooo good!...oh...and then I need you to come over and actually make them for me!...hahahahaha!
mcmarto:D
chumlette 10-04-02, 10:19 AM Hey, Buj. That's too bad about your PBS. I love PBS. One of my favorite channels. When I lived in Vermont, it was the only channel that came through consistently. haha All the recipes from the show are on their website or in the magazine.
Good luck with the search. I am so proud of you for all your hard work on your health. It is so hard to do it consistently for so long as you. VERRRRY impressive.
lutha2018 10-04-02, 02:51 PM Good luck on the job search! I hadn't realized that you would be willing to move so far. If a lot of the deadlines were this week, I can imagine you must have been going crazy trying to address all of their requirements. Now maybe that rush is over, unless some of the jobs are local and you're driving around dropping things off today.
I'm trying to convince my boss that he should hire/assign a replacement for me, rather than contract out my work. I don't like to see staff positions lost to contracting out, in general. But I especially don't think it would be cost effective for administering "my" grant programs. I think I may actually be impacting his decision for once! Got any contract administration experience?
And extra good for you, exercising and eating properly while under so much pressure!

Got just a few minutes before going to bed. Am beyond the realm of tire and my house needs major picking up and cleaning. The lack of sleep yesterday, created a needs only basis of doing things. Even my son had to fend for himself for supper.
Crazy my nephew not letting me know when to expect him. He is going to learn he will have to fend for himself too if this is all the consideration I get. I'm not his mom, and won't cater to him---he's 20. Want him to have a good time or decent time but really resent him not letting me know wwwhat he plans.
So tired. Been trying hard to finish up that pink bedroom.
Gonna have to be another day, for have to sleep.
