View Full Version : Snow Angels Trek To December ~~ July 29 to August 4 ~~
Lizzie B 07-29-02, 01:04 AM Day 42 to Day 48
Good Morning Snow Angels!!!!
I am so ready for a new week!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love the beginning of a new day and a new week. Just think of all the new things waiting to happen! Plus we even start a new month this week! Now that is something to celebrate!!
I am going to celebrate all the newness of this Monday morning by walking very early in the morning!! Then:
1. Drink lots of fluids
2. Give DH a big ole kiss when he is not looking--that will get him!!
3. Count my points and log all food
4. Just be happy to be alive!!
5. Bake a blackberry cobbler for family
6. Not eat the cobbler!!!
Well that will get me off my lazy body!! If you read my journal you will see that Lizzie was a lazy Lizzie all weekend!! I almost bored myself !!
Well not going to happen today! (Share a secret this Sunday night) However I am looking ahead and I know how I am going to feel in the morning!!
I know that my determination will get up as soon as I open my eyes. Monday is going to be a wonderful day because I want it to be. Nothing is going to slow me down or get me down!! I will be blazing a trail all day!!!!!!!
A new month!!!! Where did July go so fast?? I think summer is going to whiz past and the next thing we know we will be having snow!!! Wow I can hardly wait. I love all the seasons!! I just could not live where we had the same temp all the time. Although I know DH would love that!!!!
Speaking of DH I baked him a huge peach cobbler tonight and I am not eating any of it!! I will have a ice cold popsicle instead. Talk about your determination. Plus I know how many points just one little piece would be and I would rather have somehting I can enjoy and not put pounds back on!!!!
So how are all of you angels doing? Have you gotten your determination out and polished it??? How about your program ? Have you looked it over and found some areas that need attention?? When I looked mine over I found that I needed to drink more water and continue to eat more fruits and veggies.
What about your exercise program?? I looked at mine and realized I need to add more fun things to my program. I love walking and I love doing the tapes and the bike. I am going to add a walkman to my list of things I need so I can listen to music as I walk instead of me breathing!! I think that will adding some fun to my walking!!
Okay are you ready for the week??? I am! I am going to reach my goal by December 31. I know because I am going to work at it each day. Taking it one day at a time. When I have to one hour at a time. But I will reach that goal!!!!
:coach: We will all reach our goals because we are doing this together. If I slip I know you will be there to help me back up. If you slip I will be there to help you to get back on track. We will win!!! We are all valuable and worth the time and effort to change!! We will be :cheer: :cheer: each other on to victory.
I say we are winners. What do you say???
Monday here we come.
Love and hugs,
Lizzie
Blondee49 07-29-02, 05:08 AM Good Monday morning Lizzie and others headed this way!
Lizzie, You were certainly off to an early start today! I woke up at 12:30, couldn't go back to sleep....it is now 3:00 so will try for an hour nap before work or I'll fall out at 10:00!
I am going to enjoy this week also and am putting more thought and planning into my program.
I too, need more fruits and veggies.
I need to be consistant with my water intake. Three days a week isn't good enough!
I will HAVE to have a cut off point in the evening and plan alternate activities for the "additional eating" times I've been having. OOOPS!
I will also add in more varied exercise.
I have so many things I could do......I will start choosing one or more on a regular basis.
I'm ready for a new day.....new week......new start.
Have a blessed day, angels................be good to YOU!

My days are all starting to blur!! I'll be glad when this move is done...
It's nice to know that there is so much support here for when you have a bad day. I haven't had one in a while, but just in case, I know where to go!
My goals for today:
1) More packing :(
2) Get on my bike (wanted to last night, but hubby had OTHER ideas
3) Do more laundry (Minnie is outdoing me!! Gotta keep up! Washing all bedding and linens and rugs before moving. Want them clean for the new house)
4) Less carbs today, too many yesterday. More fruits & veggies
That's enough for me! I'm so happy to be a part of this awesome group. I enjoy all the support and posts every day.
Thanks Lizzie for the idea!
Have a great week!!
sandielynne 07-29-02, 04:58 PM Hello everyone,
I seem to be the tail gate to this group. I get in here so late all the time. Part of that is because I seldom get on the computer before noon. Then, of course, there is e-mail to sort thru, throw out or answer. By the time that is all done, and I have visited a few of your journals, it's late by the time I remember to stop in here. Oh well, at least I am here, right?
Right now I am not walking. I'm trying to rest up my hip in hopes that doing so will end the pain there. I don't know if keeping active is aggravating it or not, but it seems to be so. I know the day after I walked 2 miles was a very painful one, but I forced myself to walk, and then suffered even more. The past few days I haven't done any walking and the pain is letting up quite a bit, but not completely. It may be I have a very bruised muscle that needs to heal completely before I can move pain free. I am hoping that is all it is. So for now, trying to be good to that stupid hip and crossing my fingers this works. At least my knitting needles and crochet hook have been kept happily in motion..............lol.
Ok, my goals are
drink my water
stay within my points range, low end (26-31)
remember to calculate everything I eat
have fun knitting and crocheting these baby clothes
enjoying the fruits of my labor, fresh veggies from the garden
Someone (can't remember who) sent me an e-mail with all these strange and odd fixes, tips and cures. One of them was to rub WD-40 into arthritic joints to stop the pain. I put it on my knee and my hip. Might just as well, can't hurt to try, eh? Wish me luck............haha
Take it easy peeps. Enjoy!~Enjoy!!

shapenup 07-29-02, 11:31 PM Hi Angels! They tried to get me down at work today and I didn't let them. Actually, the day had some great highs along with the lows. Work itself was a pain. But, I received a small award in the a.m. so I can't complain about that. It'll pay for some new clothes! Hee-hee! Also, I had numerous positive comments at work from several people that are cheering me on. This helps soooo much! They're motivating me and I'm motivating some of them.
Its been a great week for me....I know I've lost and tomorrow I find out how much! I can't wait to see that TIPSY SCALE! I like to tease the girl weighing me in with comments like "I don't weigh that much! Do I look that heavy! Move that bar to the left!" I can get her to crack a smile most days!!!
Here's a hint for getting more water into your day. Start each day by drinking 8-16 oz of water. Drink 8 oz. water prior to exercise and 8 oz after. Drink 8 oz with each meal and snack.
Anyhow, it was another great day. Finally made the veggie soup! Hurrah! I'll get my veggies and I like eating the stuff and its low calorie!!!!
Today I had 1635 calories (terrific and on target), biked 3 miles (got rained out) and walked 1.5 miles. Anything more than 1.5 mile walk on weekdays is a bonus so this was good even though I had planned an 11 mile bike ride.
Goals for tomorrow:
1. Weigh down!!!! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer:
2. Walk 1.5 mile
3. Bike 11 miles
4. Keep calories between 1500-1800
5. Drop off registration for free pilates, step aerobics and toning classes
Best wishes for a terrific tuesday everyone!
:rose:
Blondee49 07-30-02, 08:22 AM Gooooood Tuesday morning fellow angels.........
Seems everyone had a busy and productive Monday lined up. We were busy at work but were really relaxed with the bosses at Hilton Head!
Sandie! I made the cabbage patch hash recipie this morning.....DUH! Do the hackin', slicin' choppin' and dicin' BEFORE you start! The pam works great! I used the olive oil type, sprayed extra on the veggies and saved a pot load of fat calories. I use no sodium spices for a bit more of a kick also. I got up at 2:15, it was too late for a nap so I ironed......FINISHED!! Yippee yahooty!and cooked.
I'll have some for lunch today. Yummers!
We had a storm this morning. I had my headphone tape player going and the thunder boomed so loud it scared me. We had a power surge which restarted my computer when I was trying to get off. Boo-coos of rain, wonderful rain!
Gonna run.....have a wonderful day everyone!
Brenda
Lizzie B 07-30-02, 09:21 AM Happy Tuesday Morning!!!!
Hello Snow Angels,
Tuesday morning and I am feeling super today. My digestive system has finally healed and now I am able to get back on my program and eat all the healthy foods again. I really wasn't sure that was going to happen for a while. But feel great and so ready to get back on track.
Had a good day yesteday and finally got some rain!!!! Was fun to watch it come down!!! Garden got a good soaking and plants loved it!! Hey I have a ripe tomato. See how easy I am to please?????
For today I will:
Stay at lower end of points
Exercise--bike or walk
Really need to drink more fluids-slacked off yesterday
Clean house
Be on the lookout for a vacationing DH
Not allow DH to dictate how I feel
Okay now I am all set to get this show on the road. Had my coffee already this am and ready to rock and roll!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am off to read some journals and get busy!!
Angels let's knock the socks off of Tuesday!! We can do this !! Just one day at a time--one hour at a time.
Last night in chat some one said they refuse extra foods by simply saying "No thanks, I would rather be thin!!!! What an excellent thing to say to ourselves when faced with a donut or cake or any tempting food.
NO THANKS I WOULD RATHER BE THIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Kind of rolls off the tongue!!
Hang in there only 16 hours left in theday!
Love and hugs,
Lizzie:D :D :tomato: :D :D

Snow angel goal:150
You know, its just when I think I've got myself under control and I stop planning and thinkgin about food that I slip (MAJOR). This weekend started out well. I went to the gym Saturday morning and stayed within my points.
Saturday afternoon - our air conditioner went out. EEEeeek! And we had guests coming over on Sunday for a birthday party.
Sunday it was soooo hot in our house that I could barely move much less get going to exercise. The day started well and I was still within my points until the evening, when I slipped and went about 2 points over in chips and salsa. Not so bad you say. That's what I told myself also.
Then came Monday. :( I had to stay home from work to wait on the air conditioner man. I started the morning ok, with 2 eggs and a piece of toast. Then it all went downhill I had I piece of frozen custard cake, 2 slices of leftover stuffed crust pizza, lots more chips and salsa, 1 leftover bratwurst, 1 piece bbq chicken, several glasses of sweetened tea and some rice cakes. I did not even calculate the number of points I ate. I think it was about enough for 3 days. PLUS - no exercise whatsoever. I just laid on my fat butt watching bad movies all day.
What have I learned? I can't let down my guard and just say what the heck I'll have a free day. It just doesn't work. I had just gotten to the point where I was finally seeing the pounds drop. What is this NIGHTMARE SABOTAGE I AM DOING TO MYSELF???
Soo, this morning I got back to the gym and got in a good workout. I've had a FF yogurt and and orange. Will have a sensible lunch and dininer. I will stay within my points. I will get back on track and not use this as an excuse to quit!!
Sorry so long. I just need a good knock on the head and a swift kick in the pants.
Luci
StaceyJG1 07-30-02, 12:33 PM Howdy Snow Angels!
Today is going ok, except for the PMSing. I want chocolate! I let myself have 4 more hershey nuggets (had 4 yesterday) for 5 points. I can feel myself getting crampy and bloaty. I want to eat everything!
I did good last night, stayed within points, did 45 minutes on my exercise bike - 10.1 miles. And then this morning I'm up a pound! TOM, I'm sure, but it sucks! Tomorrow is my weigh-in. I hoped to see 259.5, but don't think that will happen. Oh well! I'm still going the right way.
Luci, Luci...when you fall of the wagon, you let go with both hands!! You know what you did wrong, now get back on track! You CAN do it!! You WILL succeed!! I have faith in you. Look how you handled the situation? Went to the gym first thing. Good for you! What would you have done before? Kept binging? Exercised? Not! You're doing fantastic! We all have those times, so dont' kick yourself! Just get back on that horse!!
Sandy, great job on those shorts!! Doesn't that feel great? You go, girl!!
Lizzie, thanks, as always, for the encouragement and the happy posts. Always a pleasure to read them!!
Make it a wonderful day!!
ellantehalima 07-30-02, 02:46 PM Hi Snow Angels,
I finally have a chance to get in here and post. It has been very hectic around work lately and during the weekend I have no time to get on the computer. Everything has been going well for me. I have had the munchies lately but have been able to keep them in check. I have been keeping up with my walking but have kind of slacked off on my cardio workouts so I need to get back on track. Even though I haven't gotten in my cardio I have been doing a lot of swimming and can really feel the difference in my arms and legs. I love to swim and wish I could do it all year long, but can only do it during the summer around here.
Well I have to go the phone is ringing nonstop here so time to get back to work. Everybody have a great day.

shapenup 07-30-02, 10:33 PM Hi Angels!
Well, the weekly verdict is in! Down 4.25 lbs from last week! This brings me to 179.25 lbs. I can not believe I'm this weight again and am soooo motivated! I will meet the New Year's Challenge to resolve to "Maintain my current weight."
As far as today's goals go, I didn't bike or drop off the registration for classes...so guess what is on tomorrow's agenda? I guess there's only so much you can cram into one day.
Other goals for wed.:
Calories: 1500-1800
Walk: 1.5 mile
Pack for visit to parents
Clean clutter for hour
Lizzie B 07-30-02, 10:42 PM Janet,
That is awesome!!! Way to go!!!!!!!!!!Congratulations!!! Super !! Wow I get excited when everyone losses weight!! YOu are on your way!!!
Love and hugs,
lizzie
Blondee49 07-31-02, 10:05 AM WOOHOO!!! WTG!! Janet that is great! I can't wait to see my scale budge. SOOOOOOOON!!!!
Today is the last day of July. Time has slipped away so quickly. I haven't done as well as I'd wanted to this month but have become more aware of myself, my behavior, what works and what doesn't. I have new tools at my disposal and plan to use them regulary in the months ahead.
We have 5, FIVE, F-I-V-E.......months to work on our Snow Angels goal. I will set mini goals for myself with dates attached as I have several "events" coming up. I'm gonna take my "Walking for Health" book to work today and do some digging and planning.
I am looking forward to the days ahead and will apply myself as never before. I have Hotty Dude Day looking over my shoulder. He's the hunky airman who lost 100 pounds in a year and gives me a pep talk each time he comes in. He's going TDY but said he'd call in to check on me.:o
I have good stuff in stock for this pay period, will do up my menues, work on my resolve and ask myself what I really need when the cry for more food goes out.........eventually that voice will weaken.......right??
Gotta run! I'm outa time! EEEEK!
Love to all......have a mauvelous day dahlinkas!
Brenda:D
StaceyJG1 07-31-02, 10:14 AM Hump Day!!
Today is D-Day...I stayed the same. I guess I shouldn't complain, just want to keep seeing those numbers move! My inches are moving, over 16 inches gone since April!! It is that dreaded TOM, so that could be the problem too. I've been good, dammit!! X-(
Ok, I'm done. :) I hope everybody has a good weigh-in!
Goals for today:
1) Avoid CHOCOLATE
2) Shopping tonight
3) Bike
4) Lots of water
Check in later!!
Ok - I feel back on track after Monday's trainwreck. This morning I got to the gym for 35 minutes on the elliptical machine, 2 sets of LBWT, 120 crunches and stretching. I will also go on a 20 minute walk over lunch (got to make up for the madness).
I can't believe it but I actually lost a pound last week. Go figure. However, I'm not going to take it back!!
I'm with Brenda; I am ready to face a new month with conviction and discipline. I will be in the 20's in August and close to the teens be the time September roles around. I WILL.
Today's goals:
1) exercise - done
2) drink 8 glasses of water - 4 down, 4 to go
3) eat at least 5 servings of fruits and vegetables
4) stay at the low end of my points!!
5) clean house this evening
Janet- awesome job.
Stacey - hang in. TOM is killer and the pounds will come off shortly.
Have a great day Angels!!!
Luci

shapenup 07-31-02, 10:34 PM Hi Angels!
Today worked out to be a good one. Ate within goals, no bad choices. I went to a pilates class for the first time tonight. Had no idea what this was and its basically just stretching/muscle toning. 45 minutes because they moved the time up. This is way better than the two 15 minute hand weight torture sessions that I can't seem to do. Also, I ran into a neighbor there and its free so that all adds to the incentive to go again. They have a toning class on mondays so I'll try that too.
Got only 7 miles on the bike in before dark...and will walk after I finish this.
minnie mouse-good luck at weigh in! I'm rooting for you!
luci and brenda-I'm going into august with a lot of conviction and
determination too! Everyone in this group can have success!
stacey-maintaining weight is ok. When my scale doesn't move I often come back the next week with a big loss. Hang in there you're doing great!
blondee-way to go on your grocery shopping! That's more than half this battle!
lizzie-thanks for being "up" all the time and so motivational! You're definitely the angel cheerleader!
Minnie mouse 08-01-02, 12:43 AM well im writing early. its wed night but im reporting for thursday with my goals: they are:

Lizzie B 08-01-02, 01:05 PM Hi PC,
Sure I would love to tell you about the Snow Angels. We have formed a group that challenges each other to lose a specific amount of weight by Dec31, 2002. Then we come here each day and post our goals for the day.
I have set my goal to weigh 220 by December 31, 2002. I come here each day and post my goals for that day. Therefore I am working toward the set goal of 220 but doing it one day at a time. We all support each other and encourage each other to stay on track and make our set goal. Each person sets their own goal and may or maynot share it. That is up to each person.
We have a weighin day on Wednesday. This Wednesday I stayed the same. My current weight is 241 and I am working for the 220 for Dec.31,2002. Hopefully I will lose more but all I am aiming for is 21 more pounds!
So what do you think? Are you interested and if so just start posting and let us know how you plan to get to your goal!! We would love to have you be our new Snow Angel!!!
Love and hugs,
Lizzie:lily: :lily: :lily: :lily:
StaceyJG1 08-01-02, 01:34 PM Thursday already!! AUGUST already???
What happened to July? I must have slept through it! As always, I am down a pound AFTER my weigh-in day! So today I am at 260.5...nearing the 250's!! I have lost, got rid of, never want to see again, a whopping 65.5 pounds! YEAH!! Yesterday, I had 6 different people, at different times, tell me that I look great, and they could really notice the change! What a morale booster.
Goals for today:
1) Stay on points - not really a problem, PMS has left
2) Drink water - been missing by about 20 oz
3) Get on bike tonight - make time for my new lifestyle
4) Wait anxiously for my son to call - pregnant gf and him going to the doctor
5) Try not to KILL son
6) Pick up 10 year old son tonight for last visit before his summer camp trip on Saturday
I'm ready to make this an awesome August! I want to lose, lose, lose!! I'll be moving at SOME time this month, so that will be my challenge. But I'm going to try like heck to get all of my stuff everyday.
Have a great day!!
That would be great - I'd love to be the new Snow Angel! I'll post a little more in just alittle while but please, count me in! Thanks so much-
Patty
shapenup 08-01-02, 08:26 PM Welcome Patty!
A BIG CONGRATULATIONS to Stacey and Minnie Mouse on your weight removal!!!!! I say removal vs. loss because a loss implies something you might find. I am not finding any of this excess! So everything that comes off me is permanently REMOVED!

I have a set from 1-5 pounds so will progress up. The one pounders are real wimpy so started w/two and yep......got shaky with those! LOL! How out of shape am I?? How FIT I WILL be??
I cooked a big pan of oven roasted veggies yesterday........delish, with some grilled salmon filets. SO good.........I cook with Pam and save boo-coos of fat calories and I'm sure to get my veggies in. I used squash, onions, green pepper, new potatoes........yummers!

StaceyJG1 08-02-02, 09:22 AM What a week this has been...and it's only going to get worse for me, I know, but I'll address that in my journal.
Yesterday, not only did I meet my goals, I EXCEEDED them!! I ate within points, drank all my water, DIDN'T KILL MY OLDEST SON, Had a great time with my little guy, and I rode my bike....
...for 1 hour and 20 minutes!! 17.5 miles!! I think I even out did Minnie yesterday!!
I was definitely working off some stress. My hubby came home and looked at the timer and couldn't believe it. Of course, I was drenched with sweat, and it looked like I peed my shorts! I felt great afterwards. My legs are a little tired today, but I can live with it!
I WILL BE IN THE 250'S!! No barriers for me.
Patty: Welcome aboard! This is a great challenge and we're a great group of people, if I do say so myself. :)
Brenda: Great job with the weights! That's the way to do it. That's why I put my bike right in front of the tv. Can't see the tv unless I'm on it! My ironing consists of throwing it back in the dryer...if the wrinkles don't fall out on their own, I don't wear it!
Shapenup: I like the "weight removal" theory! Can't come back if it's removed.
Luci: Fantastic job on the exercising! You're awesome!!
Sandy: Congrats on the loss!! Not only did you get rid of your vacation weight, you lost! That's terrific!! But are we surprised? You exercise like a demon, and you have all that LAUNDRY to keep you busy! :tomato:
Lizzie: We need your motivational message for the day. Get your sleepy tush out of bed!!
Have a great day everyone!! Thanks for being here and being so supportive! It means a lot to me and everyone in this challenge.
 to all my Snow Angel buddies!!
Lizzie B 08-02-02, 09:32 AM Good Morning Snow Angels,
Woke up around 1:00 am this morning and what a storm we had. Lots of rain and lots of thunder. I tried to keep my eyes closed so I wouldn't see the lightening. But oh so thankful for the rain.
My garden and flowers are all happy for the wonderful drink of Mother Nature.
Wow Angels can you feel all the energy that is in our posts?? I get all pumped up just reading the post!! Makes me want to run out and jog about 2 miles like I use to.:( I will just have to settle down and walk like I am suppose too. I am going for my walk as soon as I finish here and get it over with. I know I will be so full of energy and pep when I get back home.
August 2nd!!!!
:coach: Time to get the body in gear and think of all the things I will accomplish today. Things like:
1. Staying on program
2. Exercise
3. Drink lots of fluids--surprise I am drinking 64 oz a day
4. Bake a turkey breast for dinner
5. Be thankful I have another day to appreciate the world around me.
You know angels we have so many positive things happening for us each day. I was thinking exactly what are 4 things I am thankful for:
1. My health
2. My children
3. My unfinished home - lol
4. My ability to take charge of my life and make changes
5. My Independence
Oops that was five. Well you get the idea.
Last night around 7:20 I started thinking about dinner. Nothing seemed to sound good. Then a Wendy's burger popped into my head. Yep you guessed it I had a hamburger for dinner. About once every few weeks I eat a hamburger. I use to cook them at home for myself all the time. But now I can not eat them for so many reasons but once in a great while I treat myself to one. That is about the only time I treat myself with food. Not a good idea really. But for me 1 hamburger is all I need to satisfy that craving!!
Today right back on program and all. I am going to really push this month to lose at least 5 lbs. That means picking up the pace!! Know what? I can do this with some determination and just plain hard work!! So with my goal in mind for the month and specific goals for today I will do this.
Just think of the possibilities!!! They are there in front of all of us. But it is up to each one of us to step up and take that chance. We can do this I know we can!!! We are determined Angels and we will get the job done. Winners Winners Winners!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am ready to tackle this day and come out a winner at the end of the day. WE all will make this a super special day!! Why because we have the power to make good things happen~!!
I am off to conquer my mile and a half this morning!!! You got it I am pushing for that extra 1/2 mile today rain or shine!!!
JUST DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!
Love and hugs,
Lizzie
Lizzie B 08-02-02, 09:49 AM Wow Stacey you early bird you!! What a day you had!!! I think your son is lucky you didn't kill him but there is always today!! lol. You are just in there fighting everyday!! If everyone had your determination we would be at goal and fast!!

Hey all you wonderful angels!! Good morning.
Everybody is doing soo great.
Brenda: How fit will you be? Answer: Soo fit. The sky's the limit. Veggies, exercise, sounds like you are in the zone.
Stacey: Way to exercise that stress away. Way to use the stress to push you further rather than using it as an excuse to slack off. You doing sooo great.
Minnie: You are so steady, so consistent. That is obviously why you are getting such great results. You are a good role model!!
Janet: Good way to think about it. Waste removal rather than lost and unfortunately found.
Lizzie: I know what you mean about the energy level. I am so pumped up dh commented that I actually seem fidgety with the extra energy. Far cry from the couch potato I was this time last year. I have lost about 28 pounds so far this year. I stalled out for a few months, but getting on ww has helped me start losing again and I've lost 5 pounds in the last 2 weeks. I'm with you on the goal for this month, I want to lose 6 pounds. WE WILL DO IT!!!
Goals for today:
1) Exercise: All I can say is that I had an AWESOME workout this morning. I did 35 minutes on the elliptical machine (did a cross training routine), 5 minutes of cool-down on the track, 2 sets of LBWT (upped my weights by 5 lbs on each machine), 120 crunches, lots of stretching. Maybe I'll even take a walk at lunch. Like Lizzie I feel like I just want to run around the city (I know this would be foolhardy and I'm not ready for it but still it feels good to feel good).
2) Water: 4 glasses down, 4 to go.
3) Eat at least five servings of fruits and veggies.
4) Stay within my points.
Goal for the weekend: Don't overeat just because I'm going camping.
Have a wonderful day ladies.
Hi everyone - Thanks so very much for the warm welcome - I am so happy to be here! Today is my first day on WW. I have had great success with the program in the past but never had the follow-through necessary to make it a lifestyle change. I really like to the program and know it inside and out!
A little background- I am a 40 year old single Mom - my daughter will be 1 year old on 8/24/02! I grew up in IL (outside of Chicago) and I currently live in MA with my daughter's father. I have lived here for almost 2 years but am extremely homesick for IL. I was previoulsy married for 17 years with no children - my BF was previously married for 20 years with 5 children! I don't know if we will get married at this time. I have had a weight struggle for most of my life but carried it well. I had great success with WW 2 years ago but then I moved and then became pregnant. Actually I gained only 12 lbs when pregnant but I have ballooned since my daughter came along. Stress of life I guess - also dealing with BF's ex-wife and kids and my homesickness! Also I changed jobs about 6 weeks ago and now work in a highly tourist area with a million food places and I think I felt it was my responsibility to try them all out - and I have.
So on the better things - I think to be conservative and I will choose my weight for the challenge to be 210 by 12/31/02 which would be a 30 lb loss. I say conservative cuz I have been one who once I get started (and getting started has always been the problem!) I do extrememly well with my weight loss. But I want to do everything right so it will be a permanent loss.
So I think my goals for today are:
1. Just getting started and staying on program
2. Eat the lunch I brought and nothing else! (the real challenge!)
3. Non- food..send my sister and B-I-L an anniversary card online- 27 years today! WOW!!!
...and I think that will be enough! I actually look forward to the weekend and being on program. I am one of the strange people who do much better at home than at work!
Thanks again everyone and I will post throughout the day. My office is very slow so I spend a lot of time online! Take care-
Patty :)
ellantehalima 08-02-02, 12:40 PM Good Morning Snow Angels,
Sorry I haven't been around. I have kind of been in a funk lately and just haven't felt like posting anything. Last night I found out that I removed 1.8 lbs last week. Which I am happy about since I have let my exercise kind of slide the past couple of weeks. So since this is a new month I plan to get back to my exercise with a conviction. I know I feel so much better when I stick to my exercise routine.
My goals for this weekend are:
1. EXERCISE
2. Drink all my water
3. Stay within points
4. Relax and have fun
Everybody have a great weekend and I'll be back on Monday.
shapenup 08-02-02, 11:23 PM Hey Angels you are all doing great! This group is soooo dynamic! I can just feel the synergy!
Stacey and Minnie Mouse, I'm so glad to have some biking company. Keep it up. I need to turn up my miles a bit and would love for the heat to slack off. But, as you've probably noticed..you at least make your own breeze on a bike and it makes it a little more bearable. I don't get the same on my walks! Stacey, there's a great ride along the Erie canal bike path that lasts a week. If you keep riding 17 miles you can ride 50 or 60 a day and do this ride or one that lasts just a day. Keep it up!
In mid Sept. I'll ride the TRIRI a 450 mile or so week long ride in Southern Indiana. I plan to ride the Bon Ton next summer...it goes around the Fingerlakes for a week. Also, plan to do GOBA next June in Ohio. These are really fun events and the people are so inspiring. The oldest are generally the fittest and most prepared for the ride. They are awesome.
O.K. Angels...the weekend is here and its time to decide how to spend it! For me ...my #1 goal is to get in shape so...I'm going to push myself a bit. I'd normally plan to rollerblade 3 miles, walk 3 miles, and bike either 18 or 29 on a weekend day. But, I'm going to make darn sure I reach my goal weight by year end. That means work now and every week towards it. No days off! Its ok to ease up, but that means a minimum amount of exercise....i.e. 1.5 mile walk or 25 minutes of my time. I'm worth it right? You bet! You are too! Don't let yourself down!
So...I'm boosting my normal goals a bit for Saturday. And its going to be a hot day with a heat index over 100 and day number 22 in the 90's. So, exercise will need to be early or late.
Sat Goals:
1) Walk 3 miles
2) Bike 36-50 miles
3) Rollerblade 6 miles
4) Clean this house and pack for visit to mom/dad's
5) Give dogs and hubby lots of hugs and kisses
Blondee49 08-03-02, 08:03 AM OH MY!!!!!!!!!!
You guys are kicking Butt big time!! (I'm kickin' mine just a tad!)
Stacey.....I laughed out loud (good thing I'm alone) at your post! It takes a lot of restraint when kids make ya want to choke 'em and you took things in stride......very well! Looked like ya peed your shorts!! LOL!! What a workout! I work up a sweat walking 2 miles! I'm extremely heat sensitive, but it LOOKS like I'm workin' hard!
Janet.......removal! Good term! I had a friend in Dallas who used the term release, as in letting go of. Both will work! I find what I lose and some of yall's too! Well........no more darn it! I'm done with the yoyo and through playing. Well...........ok, after YESTERDAY, I'm done! LOL!
Yesterday a tenant, lovely ,dear, sweet lady of apx. 69 years who exercises at a class like 3 times a week...........brings us bakery items. She brought Baklava, a donut, and a huge coconut macaroon, yesterday. Being goofy, I hadn't taken lunch........forgot how BUSY the first of the month is...........and yep I got into the sack. Had Sharon been there I could've sent the bag home with her, site unseen but she's out of state for a family emergency. BUT............the rest of it is in the freezer for her when she returns.....
Yesterday was a momentary lapse in judgement, a let down of the guard and it's back up this morning.
Gotta go get my goodies from the laundry room then off to the track!
See you all later!
Today I will:
1) Eat at or below points
2) TAKE LUNCH TO WORK!
3) Get my walk in
4) Drink 100 oz. water
5) Have a POA and USE it!
Luci!! Thanks girl! I say I'm gonna be a hotty......to myself of course, and I don't mean temp wise! haha! I wanna be strong, healthy, off BP meds, able to run if I want/need to and have the stamina I've missed in being overweight and unhealthy.
I'm having fun learning and trying new stuff too!
Hi Katie!! I knew I'd missed another angel yesterday!! WTG, girl! Down another 1.8! Pop in anytime........good,bad, or
indifferent.......we all have those times. I have some UGLY days too!! I don't like me much then! LOL!
Gotta run.....timer dinged!
Love to alla nd you're doing fantastic!!!
Brenda
Blondee49 08-03-02, 10:07 AM Hey.....I'm back briefly!
Got in 3 miles and was thanking God the skeeters were gone.....then next lap they woke up when they smelled food on the track!
I smooshed a couple.....snatched 'em out of the air, then was grabbing at one who hit my face and smacked myself! Oh well..........guess that was for the vienna weenie and baklava lunch yesterday! I'm fully alert today I promise! LOL!
Gotta get ready for work and pray it's a tad slower than yesterday tho I did enjoy the opportunity to get in some extra walking and staying so busy kept me out of the candy bowl.
Gonna print out my POA for the day.........love and hugs to all! Have a Happy day!!:bubbles: Bren

Lizzie:lily: :lily: :lily:
shapenup 08-03-02, 11:00 PM Well Angels...I didn't quite get all my miles in today. So....they're going into tomorrow's goals. It was just a normal Saturday due to an errand/shopping marathon from 11 am-7pm! I think I burned some calories on this mission! I did get in 3 miles of walking, 22 miles of biking and 3 miles of rollerblading! It was 95 degrees plus here today and the humidity was probably the same. Yuk! Yuk!
Well nothing I have fits, so I fixed that a bit today. I've gone from a size 20 to a 12 in one year. I wore 12's in high school! I bought a really cute outfit today and the 12 waistline is a little big. I'm wondering if I just might see 10's by the time this is over? All I can say is WOW! Funny, though...I feel fat (or perhaps its that I don't feel like I've lost all this weightl?????) I'm pretty comfortable with my body at any size (that was part of my problem) and I'm not sure why I can't see the huge difference myself???? Its obvious that SOMETHING HAPPENED when I buy a size 12 bathing suit because the ones I have at home are baggy, but I seem to think that these things fitting me is just a fluke! Anyone else feel like this?
I will say that I'm aware of my size when I look at pictures. And for the first time in a long time, I like the way I look in most of our vacation pictures from a few weeks ago.
Sunday Goals:
1. 1500-1800 calories
2. Smile lots!:) :) :) :) And find something to laugh at!
3. Bike lots...more than 36 miles
4. Rollerblade 6 miles
5. Walk 3 miles
StaceyJG1 08-04-02, 09:21 AM Happy Sunday!!
I DID IT!! I hit 259 today!! Into my next Decade! WOOHOOO!!
I'm happy, does it show? :) There's nothing stopping me now. I didn't do as much yesterday as I would have liked, but I got caught up on a lot of my business stuff, and bills, so that was good. I had planned to ride my bike, but my son was spending the night, and when he's in the living room, he pretty much takes up the whole thing! By the time the guys got back from working on the pole barn, he was wiped out. Him and my hubby were both asleep by 8:30! I went to bed about 9:30 so got an early start this morning. I'm working on cleaning, packing and laundry. Fun day for me!!
Goals for today:
1) Drink all water, was short yesterday
2) Stay on points
3) Do NOT eat when I take food to guys for BBQ. They don't have anything I can eat, so I will NOT be tempted by the wonderful smells of meat cooking....I WILL NOT!!
4) Work my tush off
Janet: It's time to change that self-image you have in your brain! You went from a size 20 to a 12 -- and you don't see a difference??? ACK!! That's awesome! You're doing a fantastic job. My fear is that since I've never been thin, will I be able to see myself as thin when I get there? Take a good long look at yourself, and be very proud at all that you've accomplished over the last year!!
Have a great day, Snow Angels. I'll check in later to see what the sleepy-heads are up to!
 to all my buddies!

Blondee49 08-04-02, 11:45 AM WTG EVERYONE! WOOHOO! What a great start to a new month!
The loss of pounds and gains of energy, MILAGE, strength and stamina is super!!! We be on a roll here!!
OMG! Lizzie you are hilarious!!! Peed On Ants!! It's my Plan of Action! My daily "DO" list! I have 5x7 index cards, I put my food on one side and activity on the other. I just started the 1st. I can tote it with me as a reminder.
I list my menu, count my protein, grain, veggie, fruit, dairy and fat and tally my points. Then exercise options/goals on reverse side and *notes* to myself.
I'm hoping it will help me stay focused and centered. I SO wanna get going!! You all are an inspiration and YES Lizzie you are inspiring ANY time of the day!!
HEY, Hey, hey!! The fellow I met a couple of weeks ago asked for my number last nght. He'd like to take me out! Isn't that sweet? I love dancing with him, he's funny, fifty and rather attractive.
OK........how does a 49 year old self proclaimed hermit "date"? I tried it twice in two years.....they both talked marraige .....like immediately and I ran away. Well......I was mean enough THEY ran away. How's THAT for honesty? I DID warn 'em early on and they pushed me on it and brought out the beast in me, not the best!
I'm willing to try again and just relax......it might be "fun".
One of my regular dance partners p***** me off big time. He was jealous, mad and he's a jerk on a GOOD day............after John left and I was preparing to, he came to my table and said,
" guess I got blown out of the water again. I saw the sparkle in your eye when he was playing with your leg"......to which I responded......"he was not......I was playing with HIS"......then he said" I wanna ask you something, kinda personal and it might make you mad............but have you gained weight? You look bigger, maybe it's the shirt "......... Then when I came to, I was in a holding cell at Taylor County jail...........I told him "I'm maintaining, it's a personal matter and nobody's business but MINE"..........then he said "so in other words I can kiss your grits, huh?" I smiled sweetly......yes I did..... and said" you can kiss your own 'cuz ya ain't gettin' near mine!"
Then I called him dirty names all the way home and again this morning. I will kill him next week. I know......I'll stick pins in a doodoo doll! (I don't do voodoo)
SO............I had a wonderful two hours out and am glad I went!LOL!
Gotta run and get today's " pee on ants" list together and prepare my lunch!
Lizzie the recipie for chili dawgs!! WOOHOO! I'm gonna have some (not seven!) for lunch!! Thanks for the goodies you sent!!!
Have a great day everyone! I intend to......bosses will be back today but that's OK.........might as well be, huh??
Love and huggie wuggies to all......starting with me 'cuz I'm greedy.....I mean NEEDY! LOL!
Bren.......who today will:
1) eat at or below points
2) drink 100 oz. water
3) not freak at the bosses return or the thought of a DATE!
4) have some quality down time this evening
5) Get my exercise time in
* I got in 15 miles this week........yippee!
:bubbles: (my picture..........don't have download capabilities)
shapenup 08-04-02, 02:20 PM Hey girls! I hope you're all having success at sticking to your program. Well, I was up to my weekend challenge today and doubled up on biking and rollerblading miles. I can feel it girls....success on "weigh down tuesday."
Got a 1.5 mile walk, 6 miles of rollerblading, and 36 miles of biking in so far. I'll go out again for a walk this evening and if I'm feeling really ambitious another 11-18 miles of biking. I don't know....the bike ride will mean I'll need to take a second bath/shower!
Today is sweltering. Yesterday was the hottest day of the year and humidity was also brutal. The same is predicted for today. And at 1 or 2 pm they start the Brickyard 400 a nascar race at the Indy speedway. 250,000 fans are expected to show up to bake their skin and dehydrate themselves with beer and soda while they eat all kinds of nasty things. Yuk!
I think I'm going to just hang out and get some fresh scallops to cook and put over pasta. Yum!!!
