Well here we are, starting our journals. I go to contours express, which is a circuit weight training; go to aerobic classes 2-3 times a week plus watch what I eat and it seems so hard to keep everything up especially when the scale does not move. How often do you weigh yourself and what types of programs are you doing?

hi brianna!!!! looks like you're doing pretty well so far!!! is the contours express kinda like a curves for women place??
I know the loss is slow sometimes; I go thru the same thing wondering why it takes so long!! but it does come off, as you already know, so just keep doing what you're doing!!!!

I pretty much do the same as you...pop in a video, usually leslie sansone, just about every day; lift weights at home every other day & also try to ride my bike as much as I can.

the food is pretty much fruits, veggies & whole grains...with a frozen yogurt concoction I make up myself as a treat & lots of popcorn!!! I started off trying to follow the WW points but it's not something I do well so I eat when I'm hungry & stop when I'm satisfied....my biggest problem, still, is eating at nite so that's where the popcorn comes in...but it seems to work for me so I'll just keep plugging along!!!!

I wish you the best & hope you keep writing in & telling us how you're doing!!! :rose:

Hey Brianna,
Here I am filling out job applications....*sigh* Anyway, just wanted to come by and tell you "hi". I wanted to join Curves for Women once upon a time, but I'm poor. Unfortunately I don't do any dieting or exercise right now, but I weigh myself everyday. Anyway, talk to you later.

Thanks for the encouragement. Yes contours is like curves, it costs me about 30 dollars a month and I go at least 5 times a week so it really pays for itself. I try to drink at least 120 oz of water a day, and boy did I spend a lot of time in the bathroom when I first increased it.

I'm in the bathroom constantly with all the water I drink!...isn't it awful?? but hopefully it's just flushing away all that unwanted fat!!! so I'll drink to that!!

I see that you are on weight watchers also, how do you like the program and how long have you been on it? What type of workout does leslie sansone do? Have you tried the 0 point vegetable soup?

well I'm on WW only to a point. at least I started on WW, went to the mtgs, still go actually, every monday for the weigh in but that's only because I paid for a certain amt of weeks. in reality tho, I don't follow it religiously, by counting points...I just try to use my common sense & eat healthy.

leslie is great for beginners or people who haven't exercised in awhile, or for no brainer workouts that don't require moving to all kinds of steps like fred astaire!!! she basically has you march in place, kick your legs, lift your knees and other very easy to follow stuff but then she'll have you lift your arms or carry lite weights & that will increase the intensity without killing you!! I like them alot & try to do 1 a day of the assortment she has out. some are 1 mile; others are 2, 3 or 4 or a combo where you can stop after 1 mile or continue on. alot of stores sell them, like target or walmart or even some of the member clubs like costco & sam's. she also has a website but I assume they would be more expensive & then there's shipping and all.

I've made the soup as far as throwing in what I like...I love onions & always use alot but I ignore the addition of points they give onions now. I also like cabbage, peppers & zucchini so I like to throw that in too, then I just add a huge can of crushed tomatoes or something & let it stew awhile. I've also added some cooked chicken to it or thrown in so pasta or brown rice. so I basically improvise & make myself a huge bowl which takes me forever to eat, as my lunch/dinner combo & then I'll have popcorn later in the nite...or melon or some peaches or something. I'm not great about eating 3 squares a day...I just kinda do what I like until I feel satisfied. I find it easier for me now, because I know I can have anything (pretty much) & I won't be deprived. but yet, there are still things I won't eat right now for fear they'll set me off & I know I'll lose any ground I've made...I know myself pretty well, yes??!!! LOL!!!!
how long have you been on WW??

Okay, here goes. I'm not starting this off on the best note. Last night I was fired from my job that I've worked at for six years. Last year new ownership took place and fired the general manager. My sexist, communist Korean boss didn't like me standing up to him so here I am.

Besides today marks the end of the first three weeks of my new lifestyle. I've been exercising 3-5 times a week, besides my working which is basically walking for 5 hours straight. I do tae bo and step and hiking if I can get the gumption to carry my 3 year old in the backpack.

Yesterday, I ate a corndog, which was the most unhealthy thing I've had to eat since I started. Nevertheless, it was good.

I have been weighing myself once daily, which is more than I should although I feel like I need that instant gratification of losing a pound.

So my starting point was 150, now 146,
I eat what I want when I want, I'm just making healthier choices.
I also try to drink 100oz of water a day and have cut back my diet soda habit to 1per week!

My typical diet for a day goes like this:
Breakfast: 2 cups of coffee, little cream and sugar
1 peice of fruit

Lunch: Turkey sandwich on grain bread w/onions, lettuce, tomato, avacodo and light mayo and mustard
1 piece of fruit or salad with lowcal dressing

Dinner: 2 cups cooked pasta with veggies, chicken breast and nonfat Italian dressing

Dessert: 1/2 cup healthy choice chocolate ice cream
with or without a banana

Does this sound pretty good?

brianna
08-11-02, 07:07 PM
Sounds good to me. What do you think of my day?

breakfast:
slim fast bar

lunch:
normally a lean cuisine or smart ones TV dinner
serving of vegetables
bread

supper:
chicken or fish
pasta
vegetable
fruit

snacks:
pretzels,popcorn or fruit

My activities for the day include:
I just started to walk/run for about 1/2 mile in the morning right now. boy does that get to some different muscle groups!
Aerobic class Monday, Tuesday, Saturday
Contours to lift weights Monday - Friday
good?

buju- I have been on weight watchers since January 20th this year. It seems to be working so I am keeping with it. I just got over a hump that lasted for almost 2 months. I just couldn't't get myself to write in my journal and for me that helps a lot. So I made myself a challenge to help with the next 10 week series. I just love to eat soup, so yours sounds good.

Hey brianna & Peace1818,
Well, I found it!! My sister was up this weekend and we went out, shopping etc. Did really well as far as eating. Went out to Ruby Tuesday's and had a half of a sandwich and a salad with vinaigrette. Now today.....not so good, when I woke up I had all intentions of being good, had toast with fat free marg....the rest of the day is a blur???!!!! Can I claim temporary insanity?? 8-} Oh well, tomorrow is another day and I am determined to stay on this! I will succeed!!! Right???? (LOL)
Well, I am so glad I found my two diet buddies, and I will post tomorrow. Hope you both had a wonderful weekend!!

Brianna,

Hi there, just thought I'd stop in to see how your doing. Sounds like you've got a good plan going.

My plan goes like this:

30 min of aerobics a day.
8 glasses / 2L of water a day
lots of fruit and veggies
high fiber/ complex carbs
lean protein

Besides the fruits and veggies, I try to eat things like wheat germ, flax seed and multi grains. I also try to eat lots of beans like navy, pinto, fava etc.. They give me a bit o' gas, but puts lots of fuel in my tank too.

Well, I hope you had a nice weekend and have an even better week.

Darlene :bfly:

I just started to run, does anyone have any suggestions?
chattygirl, have you ever tried I cant believe its not butter spray? I has no calories and no fat. I use it on my toast, baked potato and anything I would use butter on.

marg. I love the taste. (REALLY!!!) Well this morning is going good....had some coffee....no breakfast, (I know, I know it's not good to skip breakfast, but I ate so much yesterday that my stomach is still stuffed! Not proud of that! :( ) I will post later with my full day!!
P.S.- brianna, do you think maybe along with our journal, we could set up a time to chat in the chat room??? :)

Peace1818
08-12-02, 11:38 AM
Chatty,

Maybe you can try writing it down. I know that has helped me control so much how I eat and what I eat. But it's important to write it down within 15 minutes of eating. Of course I write it down first, then eat that way I know how much I'm eating ahead of time and can plan my day accordingly. You can do it!

you guys all have such great scheduled eating!!! I wish I could do that too, but haven't gotten there yet. must still be afraid of food!!
seems like I've been eating 1 meal a day, which I really need to stop...I mean I really fill up my bowl and it's not like I'm stuffed when I'm done, tho the water makes me a little bit bloaty!!
I gotta try spacing out the food a bit the way you all do...I think that might help!!

chattygirl
08-12-02, 03:33 PM
Peace1818,
your right about writing it down, that's what I'm doing...got a book over the weekend! LOL It's also what I did the last time I lost weight. Really sorry about your job!! :( I'm sure something better will come along!! So....what do you think about the chat idea??

Peace1818
08-12-02, 04:42 PM
Chatty and Brianna,

Maybe we can schedule a time to chat, I'm pretty much in and out all day, everyday now. Let me know when a good time is for you two.

brianna
08-12-02, 06:36 PM
For me its kind of hard to tell when I am at the computer. I work full time and am going to school. It would probably be better if you guys set up a time and if I can join in I will. I find it easier for me to send private messages. I was going to send you one chattygirl but the system wouldn't let me. Are you going to try to get a different job? Sorry to hear about your job, I hate people like you ex boss. I have tried so many different foods since I started weight watchers. This time when I get this darn weight off I believe it will stay off. Can you believe that 3 weeks ago was the first time I had a apricot. I have been afraid to try new foods, but not anymore.

Hey Peace & Brianna,
Yesterday was a really good day...still haven't started exercising but my legs have been giving me trouble for a while, went to the docs. and had some tests done. (They were looking for a cyst behind my knees???) Well, tests came out fine...so my doc. says next we can try orthopedic surgeon...which I'm not to happy about. Knowing my luck...they'll say something is wrong and I have to get surgery. (I have had surgery 5 surgeries in the past 7 years....and I'm tired of them!!! None of them life threatening!! Thank God!) Just the same...I am hoping that I have strained them from before when I was exercising, and so I am taking a break. Today I have an appt. with a neurologist.....tell ya about that later....LOL
Here's what I ate yesterday!!
Breakfast- Coffee w/1tbsp fr. van.
Banana
1 diet wh. toast w/fat free marg.
Lunch- 2 diet wh. bread w/ ham & turkey
Pickle
Fat free choc. pudding cup
Snack- Decaf coffee w/ 2 tbsp fr. van.
Granola bar
Dinner- Hamburger cheesy enchilada's
Broccoli

1 kiwi
8 baked tortilla chips

Snack: 1 cup frosted mini wheats
3/4 cup skim milk

Dinner: 3-4 ounces of chinees food, like rice and chowmein

Also, I called up my friend at 6:00 pm and asked her if she wanted to go for a walk. Well, I talked her into hiking up to the top of one of our nearby mts, which is really steep! So 5 miles of hiking altogether, 2 1/2 hrs. It felt so good, and when we got to the top the sun was going down and you can see all the way to the olympics mts, seattle, Mt. Ranier, everything! Hi,
Went off alittle over the weekend.....and then yesterday.....went off again. (I know!!!!! After all my hard work last week, what am I doing?????!!! :( ) Really I am very embarrassed to even admit it.
(Does the word Loser come to mind???) But I know I have to be honest....try to forgive myself. (Don't think so) And move on. This is for life and there will be some screw ups, right???? I just have such a hard time on the weekends.....I'm fine if no one comes over or we don't go out to eat. (Maybe I should just hang out in the closet on the weekends?? LOL) My husband is trying to lose about 10lbs. and every weekend he goes off. (No I'm not blaming him....I am responsible for my actions!! But I'm weak...I fold sooooo easy!!!! LOL) Oh well, I'm going to stop rambling now.....dust myself off.....and get back on track.

Hey,

Sorry I havn't posted lately, I went camping last weekend then my internet wasn't working but I'm still here, don't worry!

Chattygirl,

Don't get yourself down about last weekend, just remember each day is a new opportunity to eat right! You can start fresh! I've been eating pretty well although, when I went camping, my calorie intake went up to around 1600-1700 day. I ate smores and other good stuff. It's amazing how calories ad up, I wasn't even eating that bad! Here's yesterday, I went overboard:

B: coffee
2 bananas

L: Kids cheeseburger and small FF from Burger King, diet coke
(hey it's half the cals of a whopper!LOL)

D: A salad with chicken and veggies, light dressing(300 cals)
1 peice of french bread, tsp butter

Dessert: 1/2 cup lowfat icecream, 2 tbls hot fudge, 1 tsp pecans

1400 cals total,
Today, I'll eat better, I promise! Although yesterday could have been worse! I also have a new job, wish me luck!

chattygirl
08-23-02, 02:04 PM
Peace, hey! I thought I was alone on this journal!! LOL!! I haven't posted in a while because I thought that no one else was posting anymore, also I have been trying to get my house in order for back-to-school. (2 kids) So it's been alot of running around and stuff. Thanks for the words of encouragement!! They mean alot. Aren't weekends hard!!!?? It sounds like you had a wonderful time camping. And your 1400 cal. day is not off at all!!!
(Didn't you say you were eating around 1300/1400??) By the way.....Congrats on the new job!!!! :balloons: :balloons:

Peace1818
08-23-02, 03:07 PM
Okay, here's what I ate yesterday, also, I started my new job and it went pretty well, I think I'll fit right in there! Yesterdays food:

1 banana

Snack: 5oz V-8

Dinner: 1/2 cup white rice

2 pieces ww bread w/ 1 tbls butter and jam

I'm going to try to eat more veggies, it's so hard sometimes! I also took my son on a 3 mile steep hike, I carried him all the way up and he walked down.

chattygirl
08-23-02, 10:53 PM
Peace,
One ounce of chicken breast???!!!! That is awfully small!! My goodness and one quarter cup of veggies!!! Wow, that doesn't seem like alot! And then you walked 3 miles....how could you do that with that little bit of food. The way you exercise I would think you could have more cals. Here's my day.....
B.- Coffee w/ 2 tbsp fr. van
Toast w/ ff marg
L.- Oatmeal

S.- 1 oz. cheese puffs

D.- Spaghetti w/ sauce

S.- Choc. pudding
Well that's it for me....haven't been on the chat lately.....can't get on...don't know what's wrong.

08-27-02, 01:56 PM
okay, I feel like sometimes I'm doing okay then it's like I have to start all over again:

Here's yesterday, I actually did pretty good until the end, were all aloud to go off once in a while:

B: Coffee
1 peach

L: 1/2 peaunut butter and jelly sand. on ww bread

Snack: 1 cup special K with milk

D: 1/2 cup rice, 1/2 cup spagetti, 4 oz meat, 1/2 cup green beans, 1/2 cup salad w/ oil and vinegar

This is where it starts going down:

2 pints budlight(I went to the bar)
My usual hotfudge sunday with healthy choice icecream and nuts

What do you think? I actually feel this strange addiction the sundays, it's like I have to have it even if I'm not hungry, do you ever feel like that? Maybe someone can give me some tips on how to stop this nightly habit

Peace1818
08-27-02, 01:58 PM
