View Full Version : hey guys John 10-03-02, 12:51 PM Did you all disappear? jimwat 10-03-02, 06:30 PM Hey John, I'm still here. I guess that us guys just don't have the enough "issues" to discuss. I was lurking in the women's issues section :o and it appears that the ladies can not talk enough about over-sized bras and men who are pigs/dogs/rats/snakes etc. etc. And what's up with the man bashing? I don't know about you, but I have discovered that when it come to diets or exercise there are questions that my wife will pose that absolutely have NO good answers. For example, my wife is trying on something that does not fit quite right or has noticed that some body part is not the same shape/size/location as when she was 19. This is the point where I am supposed to run away, because I know that there is a question coming that I do not want to answer (but I am to slow). So now I am stuck with 3 possible responses, all of which are bad. 1. Agree (I have now basically called my wife fat *Ding! Ding! let the fight begin*) 2. Disagree (This works initially, but will come up in a later conversation as being "unsupportive" of her diet/exercise plan) 3. Abstain (Not a valid response, and shows that I "just don't care") Anyway, maybe some of the ladies will be lurking in the "guys" section (Hey! No peeking!) and read this and decide to cut their man a little slack (who am I kidding). Later John 10-03-02, 07:08 PM Your in for it now... For me... I totally refuse to answer that question when its put to me. It's lose lose question. jimwat 10-04-02, 10:54 AM Refusing to answer never works for me. By my not saying anything, my wife now has the right to decide for me what I was going to say 8-| (which, of course, is going to be worse than anything that I would have actually said). My best option is to hide (try to picture a 350+ pound guy, sneaking around like a cat burgler, trying to avoid visual contact until he can reach the safe confines of his garage). Or, if this fails, try to quickly change the subject (without her noticing that I am trying to change the subject...tricky). So far the best subject change tactic has been asking for sex. Since I realize that after she has spent an hour in front of the mirror stressing about her appearance, there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY that I am getting any. The beauty is that now I have turned the table so she is busy thinking up excuses and trying to avoid me (perfect!). Lindasue 10-04-02, 11:08 AM Sorry... couldn't resist taking a peek. Very interesting. joanne 10-04-02, 03:18 PM OKAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just KNEW my ears were ringing?? Don't you men have anything better to discuss that women discussing their bra sizes?? I am very pleased with my weight loss journey and i do desire and at the present have the dedication, to keep losing, however next saturday my eldest son gets married and since being focussed i have abstained from alcohol and eating out ,not that drinking is a problem, but controling my eating for a day or so after has been, silly i no but i did tell myself way back that on this day i would relax enjoy a drink and forget about calorie counting, now a week away i fear any change, i could not drink as i have done at several social get togethers this summer , but i feel i must conquer my fear of losing focus, any advice would be welcomed , i have been changing my eating habits, and learning to control myself but to be honest this wedding day is troubling me although i feel i must overcome such challenges. Bigacey luke awol 10-07-02, 04:32 PM Just lower your eating the day before and the day after. Try to drink a lot of water, avoid empty foods that don't fill you up, and try to take small portions. bigacey 10-15-02, 09:05 PM Thanks Luke for your advice and support, it was a stupid mental thing, anyway Saturday at my sons wedding went great i did switch off for sat and sunday, had a good drink at the wedding, watched what i choose foodwise sun, and am back on track Monday and today. Bigacey luke awol 10-16-02, 11:53 AM Congratulations. I'm just on a high because I lost a pound this week and it's only Wednesday (2 days into my weight loss week). yellow1990_2000 10-16-02, 05:37 PM no, I mean I'm really aROUND. LOL - Don't have the time to post like I used to, but still find this a great source for support and information. Weight loss has tapered - not losing, but at least I'm not gaining. I'm excited because another diettalker - Lojo - is coming to Atlanta and my wife & I are taking her & her spouse & sister to a Georgia Tech football game - so this will be the first meeting with someone I've met on your site - proof that there are good people to meet on the internet - not just the shady ones that make the news!! Thanks for all your efforts John in keeping this site going. (Now I'm off to find that thread dealing with bra sizes... :D GOOOOOOOOOOO JACKETS! STING 'EM!!!!!!!! John 10-26-02, 07:24 PM Hi Yellow... your welcome. |
