John 11-18-02, 07:53 AM Pack your lunch.. that way you know exactly what your eating.... packing in fruits and veggies... which are great for you. luke awol 11-20-02, 11:23 AM Some areas offer food delivery. I saw a sign here at work yesterday. 15 meals 10 snacks a week for $70 delivered right to your work (desk) if you'd like. Maybe you have some place like that? If not, then go with packing your own lunch. Do it the night before, before you head to bed or while you're making dinner. heh bobnewhart 11-20-02, 02:17 PM I share you problem Marty. I work inside, but with the small office we have, getting out for lunch is about the only break I get from the computer screen. Taking my lunch with me would pretty much deprive me of a much needed break, so I end up eating fast food a lot. I don't have a lot of luck finding really healthy things, but do better if I stay away from the value meals. I just wish I could get something besides french fries as a side at more places. Good luck, and let me know if you find anything great! --- Bob sooz 11-20-02, 02:54 PM pssst bob..you could take your lunch OUTSIDE to eat it..or even into one of those fast food places..and order a diet cola there or some coffee to have with it..just a thought...:) marty 11-21-02, 06:38 PM :D thanks guys you have some good ideas but i forgot to tell you that i live in a samll town and the idea of lunch brought to me on sight wont work and i also work for the state of nc .and we never know where we are going to be we do have small stores that are like diners up north i live out in the country we have to pump the sunshine in some places%%- I-) :joke: getnfit@38 11-22-02, 05:05 PM Are you able to invest in a small "cooler" type lunch box that would be large enough to carry your food in? You can get thin sliced deli meat (white meat turkey, lean roast beef, lean ham), fat free or reduced fat (depending on your personal taste likes and dislikes) sliced cheese, and take along your bread and condiments of choice and make your sandwich (es) fresh at lunch, or even make them at home and wrap them up the night before or before you leave in the am. Add a baggie of baked tortilla chips, or WOWS fat free potato chips, or veggie chips, some sliced carrot sticks or celery sticks, a piece or 2 or fruit, and a fat free jello pudding for dessert and your lunch is low fat and low cal and you're a happy camper because you know you ate well! There are also those "tuna to go" packs that you can get and make fresh at lunch. And as already pointed out, there are some healthier fast food choices available at most restaurants, and you can research most online for calories, fat, etc. Donna |
