I am interested to know if anyone has experience with the Catabolic diet - the one with the catabolic soup that actually uses more calories in digestion than it provides??
I have found a couple of sites on the Net where they claim this diet was developed for heart patients who needed to lose weight really fast before an operation? any comments?

What is a catabolic diet?
Jeepers,
the Catabolic diet is one that uses foods that consume more calories than they provide - basically it is vegetable soup - not all vegetable but high fibre/low calorie ones (haven't got the list right beside me).
the idea being the more you eat of these foods the more weight you will lose.
I found this by doing a search on diets and the main site requires you to buy a book - I found another site that had a weekly plan and by pretty much doing it for a week managed around 11 lbs - but I was hungry.
Hope this helps
Alex
I beleive it is when you take a Cat A Bol, and cook it until the ic taste is gone. You can find this receipe in the Roadkill Cafe menu. Ha Ha have a nice day
Plants which provide catabolic activity are those which contain the following chemicals: caffeine, capsaicin, glutamine, hesperidin, quercetin, and/or rutin. There are many such food plants. Some of the better ones are tea leaf or shoot (especially green tea), evening primrose leaf, guarana seed, oranges, lemons, onions, buckwheat, most kinds of peppers, apples, pineapple, dates, black currants, cranberries, kale, and brussels sprouts. And some of the more exotic ones include pansy flowers, Japanes pagoda tree bud and flower, and mayapple sap.

I think it sounds just like the infamous Cabbage Soup diet...
hahahaha DM - I was thinking the same thing.
"Catabolic" - Spelling: C A B B A G E
I bet that this is the diet that does the days: only bananas one day, tomatoes and beef another day, etc. What is basically is is a diuretic regime that sucks out the water. Go off and in a week all that water will be right back. Been there, done that.
