This question is for everyone out there. Which diet pills have you been satisfied with or unsatisfied with? How much weight did you lose with them? Any side effects? I am debating taking some (in the process of getting checked out at the doctor to make sure I can handle it). I want change my eating habits, excercise, and supplement it all with pills. I don't want to spend the huge amont of $$ on bad ones! So help me out!

I use Metabo-Rx. I've lost 12 pounds in two weeks, so far. It's priced right too.

none, the only way to really lose weight and keep it off is to change your eatting habits. by taking pills, when you go off them your chances of returning to what caused your excessive weight is great. exercise and eatting healthy and in normal amounts will keep you fit for a lifetime.

Dianne,

Where can I get Matabo-Rx? Have you had any unpleasant side effects from that?

Jenna, you should'nt burst the dieters bubbles. As long as the supplements don't hurt you, try them. The placebo effect has proven to be very effective in weight loss. As long as you practice eating properly and exercising on a regular basis, whether the diet pill is working or not doesn't matter, it can just give you a ray of hope. Dexetrim is bad, all it is, is vitamin B's, just buy a multivitamin. Some inexpensive pointers to kipepeo are:

1)Gelatin---for not feeling full, it adds density to jello, why not whats already in your stomach, It would also expand. It is really good for you hair and nails too!

2)Caffeine---For lack of energy, you can buy the pills, drink coffee or tea. It is a dieretic, so relieves water retention, and speeds digestive system, it is proven to speed metabolism(especially ginger tea). As long as taken every other day, your body will not build up tolerance. Anything chocolate has basically no caffeine though, so stay away.

3)Vitamin B complex---For lacking the willpower. It gets your body ready for everything. This should be taken in conjunction with caffeine, since caffeine is known to deplete this vitamin. It also speeds metabolism of fats and sugars and helps you psychologically be ready for the challenges of the day.

I hope this will help:~)

Jenna if only it was that easy none of us would be fat. For me your idea is good but I needed some help through the use of pills to give me hope. I had tried everything, and nothing had worked (even your idea). I started Phen-fen and lost 80lbs, and had no side effects. I understand some had problems with their hearts, so it was a good idea to take it off the market. Since going off Phen-fin I had slowly gained 30lbs back, and began to use Meridia but only lost 10lbs, and it is expensive, about $100.00 a month. I then began taking just the Phen part of Phen-fen (Phenterimine) and have lost 13lbs. This is much slower than the combination, but it has been helpful. I take 15mgs twice a day. Its also cheap, around $20.00 a month. Most I think only take 15mgs once a day, and has helped them. The research suggests there is no relationship to heart problems only using the Phenterimine which has been around for years. A couple of people that I know have combined the Phenterimine and Meridia and are having good results (but I wouldn't suggest this at this time for you). I'm going to try it, because I need to get my wait under better control. If only I was able to loss about 50 more lbs with the use of Phen-fen I probable could have used Jenna's suggestion for maintance. Good luck...

I have been taking Meridia for a little over a year now. To date, I have lost over 85 pounds. It is not a miracle cure; I have still had to work hard to change my eating and lifestyle habits. Exercise is a daily part of my life now. Meridia is on the expensive side and is generally not covered by insurance carriers. I pay about $73 per month for my prescription (10mg) but figure it is worth it as I'd probably be spending more than that on fast food and sweets every month.

Jenna-I agree. Although diet pills will work it really is a short term solution. Focus on the exercising and low fat eating (susan Powter's recipes are great) and use them (the diet pills) if you must but don't make it a continual occurance. You can get the motivation. Diet pills for me just seemed to make me think I didn't need to exercise as much etc. etc. They just took my focus off the 'healthy' way to loose weight. It is up to you, I can understand where you are coming from though.

Thanks Claire, Susan powders is my hero. she really did it and did it without drugs. I am also a big fan of vitamins and take 2 handfuls a day. But I am no fan of drugs. I am on the atkins plan and have lost 30 lbs in the last 3 1/2 months. I know that this time I changed what matters. My eating and excersizing habits. I did it myself. So I know the diet change will last a lifetime, unless I go back to unhealthy eating and no exercise. And for all you "I have no willpower guys" out there. Well I was the biggest junkfood junkie, with loads of candy wrappers and chip bags under my chair in front of the TV you ever saw. But I knew I had to change it. And no one but me could. Sure I tried all the gimics at one time or another. Every promise of "LOSE 7-9lbs IN A WEEK" had me sending in my money. Did it work. NO. But I got my money back. What worked was what has always worked. Diet change and Activity change. Sorry to bust bubbles. But drugs are no ones answer or friend. Vitamins sure. Drugs that promise to change you but you gain the weight back when you go off of them, no. Because you didn't change your habits. The Drugs only suppress your habits. Change comes from within you. Do I advacate one diet over another. No. Low Fat, Low Carb, whatever. It boils down to cal. in and cal. expended.

Hi
As an aerobics instructor, personal trainer and scientist I want to say that some products can be used without adverse effects. Though I exercise 1-2 hours/day, 6-7 days/week, I was stuck at a plateau and could not lose that stubborn last 10 pounds. With the additional of some all natural herbal supplements that curbed my appetite (specifically the cravings for fats and sweets) and boosted my metabolism, not only did I lose 16 pounds, but I also lost 3 dress sizes and 6% body fat. I only took the supplements for 3 months and have kept all the weight loss off for almost 3 years now without changing my exercise regimen. I began to use herbal supplements with many of my clients and have seen some amazing results. Of course, as with anything, if you have a preexisting condition such as heart problems or diabetes you should have the ingredients checked out by your doctor before starting a program, but herbal supplements can be a great jump start to a weight loss program or an aid in a weight maintenance regimen. I would be happy to discuss specific herbs and products that have been successful. Email to TBFitness@aol.com

Lose weight the natural way minus the diet pills. There are no magic pills in this world to lose weight. It may work while you are on them but what happens the moment you discontinue them? Best way to lose is to watch your calorie intake. Good Luck.
