Hi! I am 22 years old and having trouble. 4 years ago I weighed 110 and was a very healthy person. In the meantime, I have gained over 100 pds..had a baby...and am plain miserable. I started the Atkins Diet and lost 20 pds. Well...since then it has all come back plus some. I have so much troubles motivating myself even though everytime I look in a mirror I just want to cry. I am too embarressed to go anywhere where a friend of family member may see me. I weigh about 215 and am 5'2. I really have no clue where to even begin.
Any suggestions?
Thank you.

Howdy! I'm 29yo and weigh 213 and I did the Atkins diet last year and lost 40# myself...then I stopped and gained almost all of that back as well, and had my doctor chew me out for doing that sort of diet. I understand your frustration and am sorry that you feel that way. I am starting a reasonable low calorie/low fat (not non-fat!) diet plus excercise. I'm just starting this, but I've become very motivated as of late. I would enjoy talking to you and helping to support and encourage you. You can email me at heyshay@home.com and I have ICQ and AOL Instant Messaging. I have 3 children all under the age of 6, including a set of twins so I can relate to the difficulty of trying to lose weight and have small ones running around. I wish you the best of luck and take care.

We have all been there. You can do it. I've come up with some very basic steps. The most important one is no fast food. Here are the others.
1) eat a bit less at every meal.
2) eat more healthy.
3) skip desserts.
3b) if you need to have desserts, try an orange or apples... avoid chocolates
4) exercise at least 3 times a week.
5) start a food and exercise journal
6) get extra support.
6a) go to extra meetings if you can.
6b) chat at least twice a week.
6c) chat every saturday in november.
6d) visit diettalk's bbs at least every week.

I bet the only thing those herbs will help you lose is your money!

I stopped losing weight at pound 20 on the protein diet. I was frustrated, and couldn't find anything to get the weight to come off again. I found this book called "Protein Plus" on Yahoo!Store that gave great tips on how to get through the plateau and vary your menu options so that you don't feel like quitting all the time. It is really hands-on info. Check it out.
Hi Folks,
I may not be as versed in all the technical reasons as most of you seem to be but I do know that I've lost 155 pounds since August 1998 using an herbal system market by Stalight International. You may want to check out their site at www.starlightonline.com (http://www.starlightonline.com)
You might also want to see Peg Jordan's site at www.flashtrends.com (http://www.flashtrends.com)
By the way, I'm not trying to sell you anything. I just though you'd like a fresh prospective from an expert on health related issues.

Hi Kayleighsmom, I can sense your frustration and know what you're going through. I am also 5'2 and 1 1/2 yrs. ago, I weighed 220. Whenever I went anywhere, I felt that all people were thinking was, 'Wow, is she fat!' So I stayed at home alot and was miserable. But I had friends who were going to Weight Watchers and were having alot of success with it. So I gave it a try. I've lost 87 lbs. by following their diet (lowfat) and walking. I'm not telling you that WW is the only way to go. But I don't really think Atkins is the answer either. But I won't get into that. Following a sensible lowfat diet and exercising seems to be the key. Walking makes you feel better and really melts the pounds away. Especially off you hips and thighs. It's easy and it's painless. I know it's hard to get started, but you'll start feeling better within days. Hope you'll consider giving it a try. I remember you from chat. There are a lot of VERY supportive people there. If you don't click with someone one time, try again. There are some great people there. Good luck on whatever you do.
