View Full Version : I just finished a great book!
I read Mary Higgins Clark "Before I Say Goodbye"....... it was SO good! If you like a great mystery and something that will grab you and take you away from the real world for a while, this is the book for you!
Hmmmm.... now I have to pick something else to read! I have SO many things I want to read.
i'll keep a look out for it dj. i have read a couple of her books already and enjoyed them.
hugs bell :)
You'll love it, Bell.... it was good. I've decided to read "The Weight of Water". It's written by the same woman that wrote "The Pilot's Wife", which was really good. I'll let you know....
we need a book icon huh?
dj...i loved the mary higgins clark book as well..*S* and the pilots wife...it had some good curves in it huh?
what is the weight of water about?
NANADEB1251 04-30-01, 10:17 PM Book was excellent! I have probably read all of Mary Higgins Clarks' Books.
Is there anyway we can all get together online and talk about the books we have read? :)
Anita Shreve is a great author dj! let us know what you think about it. i am still waiting for the library to contact me when "poisonwood bible" and "house of sand and fog" come in. i am getting impatient lol.
i am sure we could organise a book chat if we have enough people interested.
hugs bell :)
karolync1 05-01-01, 01:24 PM I've read Mary Higgins Clark too, but not her latest.
* I think a book chat would be fun. Can we do that here? I'm still trying to figure how everything works here.

gepetto 05-01-01, 01:39 PM Thanks for the tip. I have "Before I Say Goodbye" but it's at the bottom of my pile of unread books. I'll have to move it up to the top now. I just finished the new Stephen King. I'm looking forward to the new Sue Grafton to come out. ;) A book chat would be fun.
Mary Higgens Clark is one of my favorite authors, I have read all of her books and just wait for the next to come out! I would love to join in on a book chat, what a great idea!!
A book chat would be great fun!
Janet, this is what it says on the back of the book "The Weight of Water: ....a mesmerizing journey through the farthest extremes of emotion - the story of a woman who revisits a century old crime and confronts the suspicions buried deep in her own marriage."
I've only read about 24 pages so far, but want to try to get through a chapter a day at least.... (some of the chapts. are a little lengthy) so I haven't formed an opinion yet. I'll let you all know. I know I really enjoyed "The pilot's wife".
Bell.... too bad you don't live closer. I'd loan you my copies of those books. (one of them is on my un-read pile like gep's...lol) But I really enjoyed the "house of sand and fog". But didn't like how it ended.... (but I won't tell you how....)*grin*
I DO love to read!! Let me know if we can do a chat sometime..... that would be great fun!

gepetto 05-07-01, 05:23 PM OK, DJ I am halfway through "Before I say Goodbye". I don't think that husband is dead....I mean they never found him. And what's up with that doctor with the homeless mother?? NO!!! DON'T TELL ME. I will try to finish it tonight or tomorrow.
LOL, gep....... I won't tell you..... but I thought the same thing as you did.
It's definitely a page turner!!! Have fun finishing it....
We just watched the movie "What Lies Beneath" last night.... if that had been a book it would have been a REAL page turner!! A couple of places I outright jumped almost out of the chair. Talk about a thriller.....!!
gepetto 05-07-01, 05:47 PM I think the secretary is alive too and ran off with that husband. Don't tell me that either.
I saw "What Lies Beneath" too. I thought the wierd dude next door did it. I think the book would have been better than the movie. Harrison Ford's attractiveness saved the movie. :x :x :x
i saw what lies beneath a few weeks ago. it was a bit predicatble towards the end a bit similar to other films i think.
harrison ford was great in it ..bit old for me though lol.
hugs bell :)
MissChuckle 05-08-01, 11:16 AM I saw that film a while ago. It was quite good, but I got a bit annoyed at a girl sitting behind me who kept saying things like "why's she going backwards down the stairs?" "why's she stopped there?". But it was still good.
Harrison Ford will NEVER be too old for me baybeeeee.
The movie was really good. Most of it was complex, and I like complex movies.
J.
LOL, Miss Chuckle... that girl sounds a bit like my husband did. I had to tell him to shut up at one point..... geesh!
He kept saying.."this is really slow.... why is this so slow..... do you think this is slow?" He also said "why is she walking backwards down the steps?" LOL
It was good, but I bet a book version of it would have been REALLY good!
