A plateau is your body's way of acclimating to a new weight in a healthy way. Think of it as the weight-loss equivalent of a climber who is ascending Mt. Everest resting at different levels for a few days until her body gets used to the altitude. If you've been in a holding pattern for more than 2 weeks, however, you may have to change somethings to take yourself to the next level by:
Choosing a variety of physical activity or step it up a knotch.
Keep a diary of your eating habits.
Throw away the scale, because you may be gaining muscle which weighs more than fat. Seeing the scale move up will only discourage you.
Get a new weight loss plan. The plan you used to lose the first 10,20, or 30 pounds, may not be the same one you have to use for the next 10, 20, or 30.
Rethink your goal. It may be that your goal may need to be changed. If you feel healthy and look and feel great, maybe you are at the weight you need to be at.
