Wow it's 9/18 ... where did the time go? ... anyho .. how is everyone doing on their stages?

I'm making some real good choices on stage 3. I've tried to make sure that the quality of my food is better... instead of white rice, I have brown rice (has more nutrients), ect. My drinking habit (soda's and ice tea's) is doing lousy though... I'm sorry to say.

I just bought a new scale and I weighted 186.... so I guess over the past couple of months I gained 6 lbs.. but that's ok. I with the mix up in all my eating habits, trying to eat healthier and increasing my protein for this stuff I have, 6 lbs is ok and I'll have that off in no time.

John, Sounds like you are doing pretty good..its great to make more nutritionally dense choices. I wouldn't worry about those 6 pounds.. part is probably just the differences in the scale. You will have that off in no time. I noticed you mentioned increasing protein..did you decrease anything as you upped the protein? :x

I forgot..how I am doing... well.. i lost 5 pounds last month. I attribute it to the refining of my choices. I research everything and try to find the best choices that I can. I'm looking for nutritionally dense choices. I can always improve on that. I do the brown rice too, and whole wheat pasta (which i find is still a mixture, not 100%) and we eat alot more veggies and fruit and alot less meat.. because we don't eat meat and fish every day, i do make things we really like to eat.. I'm grilling steak tonight..but we will probably eat a vegetarian meal tomorrow. Its a matter of balance and moderation. I have been able to successfullly stick to the pyramid..and consistently it works for me. This is so easy to follow. I have no desire for junk at this point...the cravings are not there.. I am sure that the better your choices are, the better you feel..the more energy you have and you really don't want to eat bad stuff. How great is that? Very great I think. B-)

Ditto on Lindasue's post!

The better I eat, the better I feel and it's easier to make the better choice the NEXT time. My craving for junk has pretty much gone....the pringles called my name a couple of days ago....I said no..... firmly....this time...... and it totally shut up! That's a GOOD feeling!
I still do not enjoy cooking for one......will I EVER? I did buy good stuff TO cook, and a new wok as well, 'cuz I do love stir frys......fast and easy. I use peanut oil for that. Getting me to DO it seems to be the problem at hand!
I haven't done the cook and freeze thing lately as the proper mood hasn't struck!
I am enjoying myself, dropped 3 #..........after playing yo-yo with it for several weeks! I'd lose 1 and celebrate with Mr. Pringles!
Finding myself actually WANTING veggies and fruit as well as my salads....no longer have to make myself eat 'em!

Have a super day!

Hello Lindasue, John, Brenda

I know, I know! I've been an absentee of late. Not feeling all that enery Lindasue is talking about. No doubt I'm doing something wrong, but I haven't studied it to find out what. I am eating well, inho, and much better than I was eating before.

I don't suffer too much from "cravings" for sweets. The fruit takes care of that. It's not so much the "sweet" I want, it's the texture of sweet. Especially cake. I have really wanted some badly of late, but I have not succumbed. Thank goodness for that, but for how long now?

I haven't had anything deep fried either. Actually, I don't care for foods dipped in breading and deep fried. But batter dipped is another story altogether, and again, I believe it is not taste, but texture that I am missing. Maybe someone has some advice on this matter?

Are there foods, good for me foods, that will give me the textures I am looking for without the fat and calories that are associated with them? I have a good idea I'm out in the cold here. And that usually means that it's only a matter of time. I sure hope that I can withstand the temptation and pass this test.

Good luck to everyone. And John, if I were in your shoes, with all the stress you have been under of late, I wouldn't be too concerned over that 6 lbs. I have no concern about it because I know without doubt that you will eliminte it very soon.

Enjoy!~Enjoy!
Sandie :D

Ok, well not doing my best since I havent really been coming. Kinda wierd. Anyway, going to start a bit over today. Had to up my calories again. Which isnt bad exect for the fact that it is hard for me to eat more. I have to eat many small meals a day which is actually what is hurting me cause sometimes I dont eat the best of the best snacks.

Hi Everyone,
Been doing pretty good with BTTB. Increased my intake of fruit and veggies and now really miss fresh fruit and fresh veggies if I don't get them in. Doing much better on portions and now recheck every so often to make sure the portions haven't grown.

I am doing great with everything but intake of dairy products. Still looking for new ideas but never never will give up.

Had an MRI done yesterday on my back. Turned out not so bad!! I have claustrophobia really bad. They gave me some IV meds to sedate me while in the tube. Only problem I had was going the extra hour without food because they were running late by time I was finished with the testing and returning normal I knew that if I waited until I got home to eat I would be in serious trouble with my blood sugar. So DH and I stopped at McDonald's close to hospital and got some fast food. Once again I had forgotten how awful coke taste. Ate a chicken sandwich with a few fries. Coke tasted like sugar yuck and the fries and chicken left that nasty greasy film in my mouth. Man I hate that
Guess I needed that reminder how nasty fast foods taste. How did I ever think they were good?? I needed that reminder!! Next time I need to fast before test i will have food with me just in case.

Hope you all have a wonderful day. Me I only slept 45 minutes the night before so I am going back to bed now!! Need rest!!!!!!!

Love and hugs,
Lizzie

I'm glad your back MRI is over with for you. I have had open and closed MRI's. I hope the MRI will give your doctor the information he needs to treat you effectively. I have two herinated discs and another one protruding so I have had my share of CT scans, MRI's EMG's, etc. I hope you can get some relief from your symptoms. Best wishes. CJL

I'm doing really better on my eating program, I started writing everything down I put in my mouth and found I really wasn't eating enough now I'm doing the diabetic exchanges 1500 to 1600 and I went to the doctor today and I had lost 61/2 lbs. I was at 242 then I gained one lb two weeks ago and 3 lbs last week putting me at 246 and today I was 239 1/2. Now I'm starting on my next 10lb goal. I'm 1/3 of the way to goal 40down and 80 to go. I eat lots of vegetables I love them I love fruit too but have to watch it I can get my sugars up real fast if I eat too many. I am eating smaller amounts at a time and eating 5- 6 times per day seems to be working better for me.:) :) sandycan
