Does anyone know about Flax seed oil pills? I hear they do everything from loosing weight to curing cancer. I wonder if any of you are taking flax seed oil for weight loss.
I found a website but some of it seems too good to be true.
I am thinking about trying it and see if it really works. Any input will be mostly appreciated.
Thanks, Mary:rose:

I don't know much about flax seed oil except that it's supposed to be a really good source of Omega 3 and 6 fatty acids that are tough to get these days. It's the kind of fat found in animal organs (liver, brains, eyeballs etc) which of course modern society doesn't eat anymore.
My dad sure likes the stuff - he drinks it straight. He did lose weight, but probably not as a direct result of the flax, rather just better eating overall. It might not make you lose weight, but rather make you healthier in general. I'm thinking about picking up some of the gel pills, and seeing how I feel after a few weeks on it.
Apparently a good book that explains how all these fats work in your body is called "Good Fats, Bad Fats".
Flax seed oil pills are also by low carbers so as to avoid constipation.. It's also a good source of minerals and vitamins.. You can use it as a salad dressing or as what I do is put it in my protein drinks.. I wouldn't suggest drinking it straight though unless you can tolerate the taste of cod liver oil.. YECH>> Just gagging thinking about it..>LOL...You can also buy it in the form of seeds which would have the same benefits as the oil...Top your cereals or make muffins with it...
I have been taking flax seed oil capsules and eating ground flax seed in my yogurt for 1.5 years. I saw my HDL go from 24 (very bad) to 61 (very good) and that was before I started exercising.
I bought some golden flaxseed to combat perimenopausal stuff... I think it's a great source of isoflavones, if I'm not mistaken!

I used the flax seeds too...lots of great benefits.
Just a note about flax seed. Although they are tasty and crunchy in the "seed" state, your body doesn't metabolize them well. (They mostly just go right through your system unchanged) To get full benefit from eating the flax seeds, grind them first. A coffee grinder works well.
It can be very useful in cleaning out your arteries... but be careful when taking any "oil"... if you misuse it, it can affect your gall bladder and too many "seeds" can affect your intestines by the seed parts getting stuck in pockets and getting infected.
Flaxseed oil is an Omega 3 fatty acid that helps regulate the blood glucose levels, curb the appetite, reduce heart problems, lower blood pressure, etc. Omega-3 comes from fish oils and can be incorporated by eating cold-water fish such as salmon, bluefish, mackerel, or sardines a couple times a week. This important fatty acid can also be found in navy, soy and kidney beans; also supplementation is available in capsules and liquid. Liquids must be kept refrigerated.
Omega 3's can aid in weigh loss because it provides the good fat, increases good cholesterol and lowers the bad cholesterol.
Also, lots of water can aid in flushing toxins, including fat, out the body.
