View Full Version : How do you reward yourself for weight loss?
Hello ladies. I am about to reach my 2nd weight loss goal. I try to set short-term goals and reward myself when I reach them.
But, I'm having a hard time coming up with rewards that would be good.
So I was just wondering, if you reward yourself after short-term goals, HOW do you reward yourself? Maybe it will give me some ideas!
Thanks,
Yatravn 09-23-02, 01:56 PM -Buy something you've been wanting for some time (makeup, earrings, perfume, purse, shoes, whatever)
-Get a haircut, or get your hair styled/colored, it'll make you feel fresh!
-Have a day at the Spa...at home. Start with a nice, relaxing bath, aromatherapy candles/bath gel/salts help. Put on a face mask, listen to music, deep condition your hair. Give yourself a pedicure, paint your nails. Better yet, get your significant other, if there is one, to do all of this for you, it enhances the experience!
Just some ideas:)
pouncermom 09-23-02, 02:25 PM Following Yatravn's thread:
Get a massage. Have your nails done. Go to a special event (theatre, movie, dancing, etc).
Just remember, don't go out to dinner to celebrate!!!!! That's what got us all here in the first place! :D

wavephorm 09-23-02, 03:37 PM Well granted, I'm not a ladie, but I say if you're gonna treat yourself - TREAT YOURSELF.
Every time I lose 5 more pounds I get to have 2 Krispy Kreme doughnuts: one chocolate glazed with icing filing, and another with the little colored sprinkles on it. Two little bundles of joy for hard work that paid off. Oh boy do I ever enjoy Doughnut Days (and I'm due for one anytime now too!!).
But take precautions!! I always prepare for "Doughnut Day" by lowering my food intake significantly on that day (and to some degree the day after).
Raven McCoy 09-23-02, 04:23 PM when I get to 110 I am going to buy myself a new pair of jeans. I want a tight lighter coloured pair. My date for this goal was October 1st, but I can see I'll be unsucessful at least until October 15th. I haven't had a new pair of jeans in years.....excited
perfectparanoia 09-23-02, 04:35 PM I reward myself with a new item of clothing (usually jeans or pants) every time I get to a goal. That way I have at least one pair of pants that fits properly (no bags in strange places).
And I remove one pair of pre-diet pants. That way, when I get to that final goal, there is no easy way to go back.
Michael D. 09-23-02, 05:18 PM This might not be a good idea for people who put on weight very quickly, but when I think I did a lot for my body the last few days or week, I make some pizza for myself.
And boy do I enjoy that, lol, I eat it very slowly and enjoy every bit(e) of it.
And sometimes the lost weight and the feeling of it is enough reward for me.
Apart from that, buying clothes is always good, in fact I did that today :D
Yatravn 09-23-02, 06:12 PM I think I should buy some new clothes too...my boyfriend was teasing me yesterday about how all my pants are hanging off of me now, LOL, boy was that nice to hear!! I just don't want to go shopping yet because I KNOW in a month the new clothes won't fit! Might as well wait 'til goal for that:)
i buy myself something usually clothes, have been known to get my haircut and colored or go and see a movie...
hugs bell :)
I personally go for a new piece of clothing, a hair-do, or lately it's been a new workout video, a book, or like last week, I bought myself a new pair of running shoes and then went out for a great walk.
I'm so jealous of those of you who can have some type of controlled food splurge and then get back on program. I'd lose it for sure.
I live in a land of cheap labor. A manicure + pedicure will cost total $10 tops at the top salons and at the second tier salons as low as $5. Massages are $10 for 90 minutes. There are advantages to living on this side of the world :)
My rewards are usually of this nature.
I'm not trying being pretentious...but my reward IS the shape and state of my body. :)
But if I wanted to reward myself, I guess I'd splurge on some treasured item of food I've had to resist.
I'd also probably choose to plan a night out or a party (certainly drinking and possibly a meal). But that would have to be a for something worthy of significant 'reward'. That way you get to show off your classy body, too!
MissRena30 09-26-02, 01:16 PM I try and keep my rewaard related to my workouts. If I reach a goal I try and buy something like a low fat cookbook or new running shoes. Sometimes though, reaching a goal is enough for me. I'm a firm believer in "free treat days" usually that means chocolate icecream. But I'm finding the more I jog, the less ice cream I eat. I want the feeling to be the reward. I know how I feel after I go for a jog, and I know how I feel when I dont. There's a certain amount of pride that I get from getting through each week, most times, that's enough of a reward for me. :rose:
blueskies 10-02-02, 09:45 PM I haven't lost anything yet (I've just started again) but when I do (and I know I will!), I'm gonna buy a short dress/skirt and show off those sexy legs, yeah! :)
