I lost most of the weigt I wanted to lose before my wedding almost 2 years ago. But, those last 5 WILL NOT BUDGE! I am doing the Atkins plan at the moment which doesn't seem to be doing a thing! It is also what I used to drop the initial weight. When I had more weight to lose it almost melted off with this plan. But, now I am stuck. It is frustrating. I lift weights 2 days a week and I am trying to do cardio which I HATE but I suppose it is the only way to shed those last few pounds to get to my goal.

People keep telling me that since I am over 30 I may NEVER lose those 5 pounds and that is depressing!

Does anyone have any tips or tricks I am not thinking about?

=(

I wish I knew Shell, but I wrote something similar to your question, and what helped me was to increase the exercise to every day and decreased my calories by 100. My weight was stuck for 10 weeks or so, and then started going up so needless to say I had to lose the same pounds again at my turtle pace. This month I'm finally showing a loss of one pound but what an effort it took. Everyone here is so helpful, maybe you'll find something that is just right and works for you. Good luck and let me know your progress:rose:

Yes, I suppose I will have to up my cardio to 4 or more days a week. I just HATE it SO much...but not eating is just not going to happen. I guess if I want to eat, I have to run. It was SO MUCH easier when I was, like, 19! =)

Thanks for the support!

That's untrue about not losing those last 5 ever. Everyone can lose the weight if they've got a healthy system (thyroid and the like).

Just reduce your calories and increase your cardio. Switch up your routine every couple of weeks. Even if it's half a pound a week loss, you'll lose it in 2 months.. which is better than not at all!

it's not impossible to lose those last few pounds but i do believe it gets harder as we age. i think the key is to maintain a healthy weight all your life so you never have a problem. i'm in the same situation you are in, struggling with the last 3 pounds! i only had 10 total to lose but i started in feb. and still can't seem to get the last few off. i'm all for a support group for people who are having this problem. i know a good number of people who could eat pretty much what they wanted until their late twenties and not gain a pound but now have to be very careful. i have always eaten relatively healthily yet it is getting harder just to maintain that health since i turned thirty, and i'm very active.

SO TRUE! I too only had a few to loose, about 10. From 120 to 113 was EASY, it's these last few that are bugging me. I too could eat anything I wanted until I was about 27 and once I got a desk job and starting eating too much caffeteria food and take out, I started gaining. It's nice to find a group that is in the a similar boat. I can maintain 113 pretty well too and splurge a bit but I'd like to get rid of the saddle bag effect!

Let's just keep working at it!
