Hello everyone this is my first post. I recently decided that for me to motivate and feel good enough about myself to stick with a diet I really needed help. I have been on the 10 mg of meridia for a little over a month. I can honestly say I do not feel hungry. And even when I do decide there is something I want, I simply can't eat a large quantity of food anymore. The only "side effect" mentioned in the list I was given that I have had is dry mouth. So I am drinking much more, which I actually think is flushing out my system and helping the process. Exercise just was not working after my second baby. I was just building muscle under the fat and that made me appear even bigger! I do feel good about the meridia so far it has really seemed to give me the push I needed! I had problems during this last pregnancy that kept me from being able to even walk around the house except for the restroom and I kept getting bigger and swollen. I had gestational Diabetes and when the baby was about to be born I weighed over 200 lbs. I have always been 135 or less most of my life. I felt so bad about myself I didn't want to go out and do things or even be seen. People no longer recognized me. The meridia has helped me take control of what I have been eating, It's wonderful your motivation can come from within yourself, but some of us loose that part of us and feel out of control. I needed to do whatever I could to help me find it. For the first time I feel like I can do this and that's so important. :rose:

Hi there,
You know I really like those Meridia commercials. There are actually obese people being portrayed with husbands and happy, active lives! Although I'm trying it the natural way, I hope you can meet your needs and goals with Meridia and feel your old self again....it's been so long since I was my old self I've forgotten what it's like...who knows..maybe the old me doesn't exist anymore but at least I'll have a better, fitter body than I have now.

is anyone on line taking meridia? I recently
started taking it (3 wks) and have only lost
three pounds. I am trying to eat low fat and
high fiber. I have fibromyalgia and feel I
need to eat healthy. I have gained almost
100 lbs in the last eight years since I was
diagnosed with this disease and also rheumatoid arthritis. I am currently taking
10mg. I find that I still get hungry but it
is easier to resist the urge to snack or eat.

Hi! I have been seriously considering trying meridia. I have about 175 lbs to lose and have been struggling with it for my entire life. How are you doing now with it? Do you still find it helping?

Things are going well so far... I am able to eat smaller portions now, and it is easier to avoid snacks now. I do still have cravings sometime but it is easier to pick up again even if I do have something I shouldn't. My most difficult time is when I have my period, I have always wanted sweets during that time. But I have lost about 12 lbs in a little over a month. It is not a FAST weight loss. But it does help you cut back. I hope that helps! :rose:

Meridia works on brain chemicals to reduce appetite and give a sense of fullness. Studies have shown that it can help people lose weight and maintain the loss, but the weight loss tends to plateau after about a year, with a loss of about 10% of starting weight. Side effects: elevated blood pressure and heart rate.
Are you changing your diet and exercise in addition to taking meridia?

Yes I have been exercising, perhaps not as much as I should but I have been trying. I have one of those wheeled ab devices and I really can feel that the muscles are being worked. That device has given me more of a work out in the ab area than any other exercise I have tried. I also use weights and an exercise ball. It is difficult for me to get out and walk because the baby in the afternoon just about the time I get the house work done and then I have to wait for my daughter to get home from school. I try to use nap time to be able to do the indoor exercises I mentioned, but sometimes I just need more time to get everthing else arount the house done. The baby is starting to walk now and I need to stay in the room with him while he is awake to keep him from hurting himself or getting into things. I can (like now) use the computer during that time, but if I get in the floor he tries to "help" me with the weights, ball, etc. He is very clingy right now too and cries whenever I leave the room. I guess my biggest problem is finding some ME time. :( :(
