Have you heard about the new study that says if you are overweight in your mid 30s - 40s, you will die 2 - 3 years earlier than normal weight people? The part that I didn't like to read from the study was that even if you lose the weight, you still are at risk because the damage may have already been done.

Everything I read in other books say that losing any amount of weight, the more the better, increases your chances of improved health.

The study almost make me feel, since I fit into that category and am already overweight, what's the use of trying to lose the weight if it doesn't help. Of course, I want to feel better personally so I will continue with my health and exercise plan.

Do doctors with studies like these really think they are helping people? What do you think?

Thanks for your reply Tanya. It is reassuring to know that we can look healthy and actually be healthy. Yep that's me and Chopper. He got spooked by the camera flash when he had his picture taken with Santa.

Even if the study is true and we still die early after we lose the weight. The weight loss will allow us to live fuller lives while we are still here. We are more mobile have increased self-esteem. Therefore, weight los sis never in vain.
