View Full Version : I feel SOOO lost
buddaboy 01-07-03, 09:54 PM Im new to this Form posting Stuff, And Im kinda modest or mabey Im shy. so that really makes it hard... I dont know what to say or who to talk to. It took me 10 mins to figure out how to post... that is if this works.
Anyway Diets dont seem to be my problem... its all that food.
Man I love to eat. Ive been Dieting for 2 1/2 months. My biggest Fear is onceI reach my Goal weight Ill give up..... Each day bring that same old feeling of hunger...I eat 3 meals a day...but Its the lack of carbs and fat that make it so hard. or siiting down with others to eat and them eating all the food that you would like to. sometime its seems so unfair.....
I not complaining. I know there are alot of people that have it much worse than I.
I would really like to make some friends on here.
Being modest and Overweight make it hard to meet people in person and feel like someone may have an interest in you....Am I the only one who feels that way?
Can Some one tell me how to post your Picture???
And does this thing have Spell Check
thanks Todd
hi todd! nice to meet you..yes there is spell check..there is a button for it right under where you post, im sure you saw it..on the left it says submit reply, then reset form, then spell check...someone else will have to answer about the picutre..im not sure on that one..what plan are you on that you do low fat and low carb? did you make it up yourself, or is it an actual plan? usually low carb plans are not low in fat..so you are really being strict!! good for you!! if you want to post a sample day's menu, maybe we could take a look at it and suggest some small changes so you wont be hungry...there really isnt any reason for you to be hungry..and it is usually really good to eat a couple of snacks also..it spreads your calories out more throughout the day..but anyway, you are really doing great!! im looking forward to learning more about you and watching your progress!! welcome from california!!
thinkspring 01-08-03, 11:42 AM I'm shy in real life too. Mainly I kept quiet because I have different thoughts and views than other people and have often been laughed at or ridiculed.
What I found here at diettalk is, while I am unique, I am no different than a lot of people. We have the same struggles and challenges and feel the same joy when we have a successful moment.
You can still be anonymous here too. Say what you need to express and no one really knows it's you. One day - you'll feel confident to be who you really are. It happens in small steps. That's how it worked for me.
And keep posting in different places. Evenually there will be one thread or forum you will feel most comfortable.

Hi Todd
I consider myself to be fairly new here, and I never entered a chat room before diet talk.
Now I consider myself to be lucky that, I have met so many friendly people here.
For you to succeed, You have to find a diet ( not a food fad for a matter of weeks, meals that you like) that fits in with you and your way of life.
Sooz as given some great advice about posting a typical menu, and thinkspring said just what I would of about posting .
good luck from the UK

lisad00 01-08-03, 12:07 PM Todd,
If you continue to your goal weight and treat your diet as a lifestyle and not a diet. You will be able to maintain the weight loss because you will not go back to old eating habits because you are living a lifestyle and not doing a temporary fix.
Welcome to diettalk, Todd! You've had lots of good comments so far and I just want to add that this is a great place to make new friends who understand the daily struggles of changing your lifestyle to get healthy and stay healthy! It just might help you get over your shyness a bit if you start posting more and visit the chat room, too. There are so many people here that have been where you are and will be so willing to lend a hand.
Take care and keep doing what you are doing a day at a time. Don't think ahead too much...... just do what you need to do for the day, go to bed, wake up and repeat! Hope to hear more from you real soon!
buddaboy 01-08-03, 09:29 PM Thanks, for all of the Feedback, I dont even know how to responed to all of your Positive comments.
My diet consist of a very bland meals...
Breakfast I will have a protien shake
lunch 5oz of 99% fat freeGround turkey fried in fat free cooking Spray or I will have turkey chops, tuna or fish ( 5 oz )
3/4 cup of green beans or some low carb veggie
Dinner is a repeat
then I eat 6 egg whites Boiled or scrambled b4 bed time
Im a very picky eater so I dont like many veggies
And that makes diet diffucult to say the least
Ive always been a meat and Potatoes eater
Thanks for all the help and I will try to post more.
I guess my shyness is like alot of other people, I just dont want to look stupid or be rejected.......have a blessed DAy
Hi buddaboy and welcome to diettalk.. I follow a low carb plan myself.. I never watch the fat intake though and I've got to admit.. I've never been hungry on the plan... Mine basically consisted of giving up starch, sugar, and white flour...I really enjoy it...As for the picture question??? Are you speaking of the little ones under our names or a picture right on your post?? As for the one under our names the you go to the user cp at the top of this page and then go to edit options.. you then upload a 64x64 pixel size picture... or if you want to add a picture to your post go to the box in which you type your message and it will have a blank line and then browse.. Hit upload to upload your picture.. LOL Hope this isn't too confusing.. Hugs joanne :rose:
Badelle 01-12-03, 08:44 PM Todd,
I know exactly how you feel. I've always been the one to sit in the back of the room and quietly listen to everyone else. When I meet someone new, I really want to get to know them, but I have no idea what to say, so I'm quiet a lot. People will often take this to mean I'm unfriendly or cold. That's just not true. I'm really nervous that they won't accept me.
Anyways, I find that this is a great forum to be able to speak my mind, and meet new friends. It doesn't make up for person to person contact though, does it?
Congratulations on your weight loss! You're doing great! Keep up the good work...you'll be at your goal weight in no time. Then just remember...you can modify your diet slightly to be on a maintenance instead of a weight loss plan, but make it a life choice instead of a "diet".
How long did it take you to lose the weight?...just curious.
Stacie J 01-29-03, 01:54 PM Todd,
I am right there with you. I never thought that being overweight would change my personality or alter the way I approached situations. I just joined today and I need a online buddy also. All of my friends are very slim and led significantly different lives than I do. I have to worry about everything I put in my mouth and they eat hamburgers and fries everyday (MMMMM my favorite)
I wish that I had the will power to stay on a diet for good and not revert back to my old eating habbits. If I may ask how much weight have you lost since you joined, and what kind of diet are you on?
Hi Tod. Welcome to diet talk. I havent been here long, since the start of Jan, and I've found this to be a great site. Everyone is so friendly and helpful, you have no need to be shy here. We are all in the same boat. And those who have reached their goals are woking hard at maintaining. I have checked out a few sites and I have found this one to be the best. As for finding your way around, the best thing to do is to experiment. I have two favorite forums on here. I am writing this now because I decided to take a tour. Actually I was searching for information on how to download my picture and I just found out how before reading your post and Joanne has more or less given the info you need. When you click on user options click on Avatar and scroll down to where it says 'you can upload an avatar from your computer' then click browse. but you must already have a pic of your choice saved to your pc. Hope to see you around. Good luck with the healthy eating .:D
