For the last week, I've started having this 'tightness' feeling around my waist and tummy area.

It's not a hunger pains, and it's not painful, but I do know that there is some sort of tight feeling there.

Any idea what this is?
Or is my mind playing tricks on me?

Have you recently reduced your food intake by a significant amount? I remember when I first reduced my calories (from about 4000/day to 1800/day) I had a "tight" feeling in my stomach area for the first few weeks. I assumed it was my stomach (inner) shrinking (or rebelling) from not being fed til full anymore?
I really don't know if that's what it is or not, just what I assumed and it did stop after about 2 weeks.

But when in doubt~check it out! :)

edited back in to ask you: have you recently started exercising? When I first started exercising and doing ab work my "middle" and the area just under my breasts were tight and a bit sore for a week or so until I got use to exercising those muscles consistently.

Yes, I have reduced my cal intake. I used to eat 2000 cal a day, and unspeakable fat gram amounts.
Now, my cal intake is 1200 a day and the fat grams are under 15 - 20.
I'm a housewife, so I mostly do housework, but I have been increasing my walking to 10 mins a day.
Slow, I know, but gotta start somewhere! :)
The tightness eases off, after I have been active. But, the times that the tightness feelings comes on strong is after my morning bowl of cornflakes, and right before bedtime.
But, I am talking about the same kind of tightness that you are:)

I bet it's from the reduced calories! You've suddenly cut out 800 calories/day and your stomach is probably wondering, "what the heck is going on?"
But if it causes you discomfort for more than another few days or so you might want to be safe and at least call your doctor and run it past him/her for an opinion.

Let us know :)

Thanks Donna!

If the 'tightness' does get any worse then I'll certainly go to the doctors.

:)

On a side note... once you reduced your calorie intake... does that make your body have more 'bowel' movements?

Did you also just increase your fiber intake? Either intentionally by eating more fiber rich foods, or unintentionally by just eating more fruits and veggies than before?
An increase in fiber and in water will sometimes do that.

Let's put it this way, Donna...
I've went from never eating salads, to eating them at least twice a day.
I do like salads, ( the raw kind with Fat Free dressing and low cal)
Before, I was like, why eat a salad, what is the point?
But, now, I'm like... why not eat a salad, it's better for you than having a side of chips(fries) or a hamburger.
So, that is prolly it... eating salads, more than what I'm 'used too', <which was nill>.. is causing more bowel movements.

I suffer from IBS, and having changed my food intake, I've noticed that I don't get sick as a dog as much, but, I'm absolutley craving carbs! And, I have been having crabs... like for example, my carb intake for today is: 140g.
So, why am I craving carbs?
Thank you again, Donna!:D
