View Full Version : Totally sexist but I gotta go there!

I know it's sexist to say, but I'm going to say it anyway :)..........

How is it that the men here are SO flippin' balanced and in control of their weight loss?

They never "scream out" like women do having a "chocolate moment" for help in the middle of the day, they can go "treatless" like it's no big deal, and they're just so darned rational in their thoughts about their weight loss overall!
I realize they (men) don't have the whole hormonal thing going on, but still, if there were a "magic pill" for us ladies, I believe it would contain a heavy dose of testosterone!

I really do applaud the guys, John and Bigacey CONSTANTLY give me something to think about and apply to my "lifestyle change" even when I don't want to but know they're right so I do it anyway! But guys have it too good!
-no labor pains
-no monthly visitors (catch the drift?)
-no hormonal cravings (and John~YES this IS a real thing! Millions of women cannot all be making the same excuse to scarf chocolate once/month and call it PMS)
-they grey and look distinguished
-and now to add insult to injury, they don't whine and whimper with weight loss woes!

Clearly as with every thing else, even weight loss between the sexes wasn't created equal!

If I could "think like a man" I'd probably have reached my goal weight by now! :)
You guys rock! But I sure wish you could pass the secret of your inner strength on to us "helpless" females! :)

Shall I list the reasons of why I shouldn't have succeeded or shall I list how I'm reaching my goal?

Thanks for going there, Donna... I agree!

What I don't understand is that men are allowed to have a higher intake of calories, while us women aren't.
Do you burn more calories when one is erm.. how can I say this...
"Moving waist from side to side, while looking down on dry grass?"
If you didn't catch that then erm... well... it's an anaogly ( I need a spell checker) to 'initmate realtions'.

Bah... please, forgive me!

Hi Donna, on behalf of all us guys a big thank you for telling us what we already know, Yes we are the superior sex LOL LOL, now that you realize I am only kidding ,Some of us would gladly swap a 205 lbs weight loss, a fitness routine that most athletes would be more than proud of, " All for a monthly visit," and from what I see on the adverts, you can still swim, run, go for a pint, even go for a Monday MacDonald's, Must be very good Good and sociable monthly visitor's. LOL
Anyway if this Guy is rocking , Its because some great ladies at DT are helping him out.
? SMILING yes screaming No

i loved your post Donna, brought a smile to my face!
John and Bigacey plus my pal Sierra Dude inspire me daily, but so do you and many wonderful women that come to diettalk.
As much as men dont have a couple of us ladies "extra hurdles" i think the power comes from within. i am sure they whine just as loud just maybe to themselves not to us so we think they
are big tough guys lol.
hugs bell :)

I was reading through some of the post the other day, I thought, The men will never know what its like to have to lose weight after pregnancy. Or what an emotional uproar we have when it's the time of the month. Or when we go through the menopause .(not reached that yet, another thing for me to look forward to)
If only it was as easy as jumping on my menstrual cycle and burning those calories off while I'm craving that chocolate..lol

Bigacey
My husband and daughter came in to see why I was laughing so much reading your post
Thanks
Ellie

Although I said this jokingly, I really do admire the guys for their "attitudes" towards their weight loss, it's so "no pain no gain" like! I can't for the life of me figure out where that sort of inner strength comes from? So I guess it's an assumption to say, "it's a guy thing!"
It amazes me when I read their "no nonsense" approach to this, John and Bigacey have their feet firmly planted in the "no treat zone" and have no problem with the idea of "my eye is on the prize and no piece of chocolate is going to beat me!" While I can give a sworn oath today to not let another morsel of chocolate pass my lips until I hit goal, but by this time next week I've probably had it twice! And Jim Watt? I think his name is, on his quest to drop 3lbs/week just back before the holidays, and he was slashing the pounds like a Husky through snow! I poke fun but really I wish I had the determination or male gene thing that they have! I always tell my hubby, "when I grow up with this whole weight loss thing, I wanna be just like John!" And he says, "what does that mean?" And I tell him, "John to me, is like the Mr.Spock of weight loss~he's just logical about it, no emotions involved, just logic!"

John: I'd LOVE for you to list how you reached your goal, BUT, can you make it do-able/achievable for a person who has some minor weaknesses like being unable (at least psychologically) to go without 1 treat day/week. (And yes~my treat HAS to be food!)

Bigacey: You amaze me at your willpower and ability to just "turn a blind eye" to ALL goodies, and consciously refuse yourself even 1 day of eating relaxation until you reach your goal, that strength is just mindblowing to me! And no!~ask Mrs. acey, you would NOT trade anything, including weight loss for a monthly visitor! :)

This whole thread made me think about a line in a song from "My Fair Lady," "why can't a woman, think like a man?"
I don't usually conceed to the notion that men have an upper hand, but I gotta give you credit in the willpower catagory! :)

I think women have plenty have will power. Maybe just not in the food area.

I have seem women strecth money. Give up material possesions so there kids can have things.

I have also lost 35 lbs and this is only the 2nd time I attempted to lose weight in my life.

IMHO, I think bigacey and I don't really crave isn't because we are male, its because we have a well nutritioned diet. We get what we need from the wide range of food we eat, so our bodies don't need to "ask" for anything else.

This is what I do. (http://www.diettalk.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=27061)

I have to agree with you Joanne. Nutritionally balanced diets help. I dont get the cravings either or the PMS. Im happy about that.
