If I am in a "binging frame of mind", I have to avoid taking even that FIRST bite of my so-called red letter foods - and for me that usually means sweets. Once I start fooling around taking a bite here and there, I usually end up eating my full. I also try and keep a "sweet-free" house most of the time, only bringing it in when I have planned on eating it. Just wanted to share these couple of things that work for me.
That is sooooooo wise pony...you hang in there, sooz
Pony... it's good that you are getting to know your "triggers" and what you have to do to keep you safe from bingeing. For me, it helps me to keep sweet things in the house that aren't too high in fat or calories, but will satisfy my sweet tooth. If I try to deny myself any foods totally, I seem to binge more. Practicing portion control really helped me with that. If I just eat a single serving size of something, that seems to keep me from eating everything in sight - with the exception of cookie dough! That one I have to be really careful of... haven't conquered that one yet! LOL Hubby gets store bought until I can get that one under control. Thanks for sharing what works for you. Take care....

Thanks for all the posts. And Dj, I agree w/you completely. To deny myself completely will eventually do me in. So I often will stop at a local ice cream shop and have a sundae or pick up a couple of Krispy Kream donuts. But I have these things "outside" the house in controlled portion sizes. My husband says it is cheaper to just buy a half gallon of ice cream and keep it in the refrig. Works for him, but would do me in!!

I diffently agree, I only bring in sweets when they are planned for, if they are here I will eat them.
