View Full Version : Ideas for Fall that don't include food
.Walk in the leaves, crunching them underfoot. Jump in them-or press some between the pages of a book.
.Register for a course at a local school.
.Visit an autumn exhibit at the museum.
.Go through last year's winter clothes and give away the ones that don't fit.
.Pay close attention to the change in the weather and how it affects your body. In fall, our bodies generally need different kinds of foods than they did in the summer. Warmer foods. More substantial foods.
.Play Every day for at least fifteen minutes. Buy fingerpaints and make pictures. Be the kid you are. It's okay to shout and laugh :)

This is good, too, Traci. It gives us thoughts about being creative and finding things to do in place of just sitting in front of the TV and eating mindlessly. I love being creative and you've inspired me to finish some pumpkins I started last year. So today for at least an hour, I'm going to paint! Maybe I'll take a picture and post it later, too..... have a great day and hope you are doing something fun, too! Thanks......

Hey did anyone else see the thing they did on the Today show it was so cute..they took pumpkins cut the top off ( larger than a jac-o-lantern opening) and filled it with dirt and planted them with either mums or pansies they were beautiful and last up to 2-3 months in cold climates. I normally decorate with flowers and with pumpkins but never thought of combining the two. Just thought I would add a little idea to some fun things to do. Of course those of you who know mw know I am a garden flower freak anyway..heehee Nothing relieves stress like a bit of weed pulling...and I usually got the poison oak to prove it..LOL

Great ideas! Thanks for passing along the pumkin one, Pamela...I like that! Wonder if we left the seeds in it and planted it after Halloween it would bud in the spring :)

Good thoughts be with you!
Robbie
DJ,
Reindeer Christmas Ornaments are easy to make.
Materials needed:
Felt
plastic eyes
little red balls
string (for hanging the ornament)
scissors
glue
med. size dog biscuits
First you need to cut the reindeers horns out of the felt. Don't make them to long or they won't stand up. And also make sure that is one piece.
Glue the antlers on the back of the dog biscuits, glue the a loop of decorative string underneath the felt.
Glue on the eyes and the red nose.
Wa-la...a reindeer
Let me know if you try it :)
Traci
Traci,
Quick question ya use the biscuit up and down or horizontal???

Wow! All kinds of good ideas! Thanks for prompting me to remember to be creative and do something. Sometimes I get so bogged down with housework and laundry and taking care of the children, that I forget to take some time out and do something creative. What a great outlet!
Serena
Pamela...Up and down :)
Traci
LOL, Traci..... good thing you answered that. I was thinking side to side and that would have been a really fat reindeer!!! LOL..... I'll let you know how they turn out. My dogs will probably eat them right off the tree. Thanks.....

I'm in the process of keeping myself busy sewing these last few days. . AFTER work and after the walking thingy though. I'm right now in the process of making a little girls red coat with a cape that snaps around the shoulders. It is trimmed in black velvet with a black velvet floppy brimmed hat to match. I've wanted to make one for a long time and possibly even have it sold already.
THEN I must consider making myself a couple of new dresses as hubby and I have 3 Xmas parties to go to in the next 2 months...Hmm the joys of having clothes that are all too big??? LOL :)
That is so great that you can sew your own clothes. I hope you post your pictures in your new dresses :)
