View Full Version : My Calendar? My Motivation!!

I think "Walking" is the greatest excercise you can do....and I have grown to L-O-V-E it!! I walk 1st thing in the morning before I do anything (and you don't have to worry about it the rest of the day) I'm usually out that door by 7:30 A.M. Every Morning....when the weather is to bad (and that means icey or really cold) I also have a treadmill that I jump on if I can't walk outside...

One thing that really motivates me is I keep a calendar right on the wall next to my treadmill and everyday when I get back from my walk, I put a little star on that day. The little colored star's you can buy in the supermarket or just about anywhere, work fine for me....it makes me feel really good to see all those "little colored pretty stars"at the end of the week!! On Monday's I weigh in (first thing in the morning) and write that on this calendar also..

One thing I have truly discovered is when you work out (walk...or anything else you do) I really watch what I eat the rest of the day because I felt sooooo good about walking, I don't want to ruin it by eating "junk food"

Sure hope this helps someone.....Linda (MA)

Linda, You are doing so well! I miss you posting more often, though. But you are right about doing it first thing so you can't procrastinate it! I want to get back into the habit of doing it your way. Thanks for the inspiration!! I love walking, too, and haven't been doing it much lately. I keep saying I'm too busy, but that's just an excuse. I'm being lazy actually..... time to stop the excuses and just get out there and do it! I really like the star idea, too. It's fun to find ways to motivate ourselves. Thanks for the great positive post!

I want to begin walking again also. January 1st seems like a good date to start. I like the idea of posting stars on a calendar and will adopt it.
Thanks for the inspiration Linda.

Hi Linda,
What a great idea. I hadn't even thought about putting something on the wall to keep myself walking. I will also adopt your idea.
Regards,
Joan

Get yourself a box of those "little pretty star's" tomorrow and "Get moving and just do it!" Weather it's walking or a video or the gym.....start putting star's on (everyday) that month of January 2001!! Happy New Year...everyone! Linda (MA) It is addicting....love those star's....

Hey that sounds like a pretty cool idea! I do stars for when my son wets the bed, every time he does not he gets one, if he gets 10 in a row he gets a toy! LOL... But now I guess I can give myself stars too and when I reach a certain number I can reward myself too, :D Thanks for the idea!!!!
