View Full Version : Cease fighting

It's really amazing to me that everything I have ever fought about healthy is working! For, at least, the past 4 years I have tried every "diet" under the sun and nothing has worked....and I mean NOTHING. My metabolism was so low that everything I ate seemed to go straight to fat. I belong to another program that taught me to "cease fighting everything and everyone" but I never could apply that to getting a healthy body until now. I was so closed minded about losing weight (after all, I had tried every diet under the sun) and I knew what I was doing! Tis to laugh! What I never knew was that I had to APPLY the "principles" of having a healthy body! I was so sure I knew everything that I couldn't see the forest for all the darned trees! When I ceased fighting all those "trees" the "forest" became so clear and doable! Whew....what a journey! Have a wonder-filled day!

Wow, Robbie, it sounds like you found that one little missing link! Congratulations on this astounding revelation! May I ask what that was? How do you cease fighting? And what is the principle that you needed to apply? May you never lose that link again!! :c) Discomama

Discomama, the link was never missing...it was I that was missing...missing all the points. For years people tried to tell me what the principles of weight loss and keeping it off were and I chose to "fight it" or ignore them if that's easier to understand. I wanted so badly to believe that there was a "quick fix" and that I could continue on with my poor habits after I reached my goal. Now I see their wisdom. I quit fighting...the balanced diet, and the daily exercise, and the water consumption...now I just do it and it feels good. I know there are no "quick fix's" and I know that it's a way of life and I'm ok with it. The point is that diets end...a way of life doesn't. That would be like assuming that one oil change is good for the life of your car! I grateful I've finally seen the light...now if I can just hold onto it! Good luck to you!

WELL PUT ROBBIE>>> Losing weight is a battle in itself. And it's a battle we have to keep fighting for the rest of our life even after being close to goal. I know myself every day is a struggle and I really really have to think about putting anything bad into my mouth. LIke stopping to think if I really want that piece of cake...

Robbie, I've never heard that put so clearly! I will remember these words each day until I feel they are mine! Thank you! And Joanne, you hit on something that has been really helping me lately: the question "What is it I really want?" What I really want is to lose wieght and feel healthy.

Hi Robbie:

Something I heard which is similar to your comments about this being a long term journey....

When it comes to weight control, there is no before and after, there is only "during".

Unfortunately, I have slacked off on my exercise and neglected my diet for the last 2.5 months and I have regained 8 pounds. No point in whining about it, I need to get back to common sense and reverse the trend. Best of luck to you.

Wow, this is a great post, too. Well done and well put, Robbie! I liked the other saying, too, Artsie.... that is so true! This getting healthy is a day to day thing, but has to become a way of life to make it work. Taking it a day at a time is the only way I can do it..... take care and good luck to you all!
