Hey everyone. I am Victoria. I have 30 lbs. to lose and am so disgusted because I have never had that much to lose. Two weeks ago I startd doing Denise Austin shows daily and have started doing the Bodyflex program daily with my Denise Austin workouts. The weekends are where I have trouble. I tend to drink on weekends, Friday or Saturday abd go out to dinners. I just got married and my husband is extremely thin so I cook him fattenening dinners everynight. I eat with him so end up eating the fatty stuff he does. He hates fruits and vegetables, so I have to cover them in butter. Any advice on starting out and what diet plans have worked for any of you or fitness videos you could recommend?
Thanks

Welcome Victoria

You've come to the right place for ideas. You'll see lots of them as you read the posts.

I am on what is called the blood pressure diet. It is really just eating healthy meals with plenty of whole grains, fruits & vegetables.

With a little creativity, I'm sure you'll find ways of preparing food you both will like and that is healthy. (check out the recipe section.

Hi Victoria,

I have the same problem with my husband and kids, anything that says low fat or fat free gets a great big ewwwwwww! So I dont tell them. In my veggies like broccli, green beans and corn I salt and pepper lightly and maybe put a pat or two of low fat butter and really they dont notice. And while cooking I use fat free milk, chicken stock, and low fat butter. They cant tell! ;) Some things I dont subsitute just because I like it a certain way and so do they but thats rare and its ok for a little fat! Good luck!

The only thing I would suggest when using low fat butter is to add it when the vegetables are cooked as some brands contain quite a bit of water thus causing it to disintegrate...Or if there is concern about your hubby being thin remove some of the veggies from the pot before adding the butter for yourself and then add in to the remainder for him...You can do the same with anything before you finish cooking it to his liking.. remove a portion for you and then add whatever extra you would like to add for him..I mean that's only if it's something salty of fattening you are adding.

Hi. I just started a weightloss program 1 week ago and have already lost a few lbs. I eat breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, and a small snack. When cooking at night i use Parkay spray butter--its great or you can use "i cant believe its not butter" spray but the parkay is better :x I usually try to cook fresh vegetables but that is timely and i have a small child so i drain the can in a strainer and rinse all the salt off then i warm them up using the spray. Use egg beaters! they are cholesteral free and low fat and they taste great with Mrs Dash seasoning or Lawrys. Hang in there...DRINK YOUR WATER 8-}

As for substidutions, try the "smart beat" products....I have the mayo and the butter, they have so few calories and taste good on stuff.
As for the water, c'mon it's not so bad. Did you know that some of the glasses you use at home actually contain TWO cups of water...? I have a glass in the morning before I exercise (forgot to once and got real thirsty during workout.) then 1 with breakfast. well, i just work 'em in. has anyone noticed this? it seems like it is easier to drink water you get in a restaurant...weird.

What a positive attitude right from the start you are posting in the success stories!what a fresh attitude!!!That kind of thinking will help you go far and reach your goals.

I have a considerable more amount of weight to lose but I can tell you what has helped me the most so far in my weight loss journey.:

1. Having water on hand at all times. I used to always admire other who took the time and effort to carry around ther water bottles everywhere,but its been hard to discipline myself into the process, NO MORE.. I am a proud water bottle toter myself these days and it helps.
2. Whenever I'm hungry I drink water and ask myself, am I hungry or is this just a reaction to boredom, hurt or upset. Why do I feel like eating.. if the answer is that I haven't eaten in a few hours and I truly need sustinence then I choose something healthy, if the answer is boredom or upset I log onto diettalk, fitday, or the email and find support.. or I pull out a video and start excercising.

I know it's not much, but just incorporating a couple new things into my "diet" has made all the difference in the world for me. Hope it helps!
