Hi, I'm new to this. I really don't know what to say. So I'll just give you the brief situation, I'm in. I know most of the people on this things, are adults, and I feel weird talking about MY weight problem here. I am 14 years old going on 15, and I weight 230 pounds! I tried "crash dieting" and whenever I mess up, I just overeat and say "next week, I'll get back on track" Does anyone have any advice that could help me? I treadmill every day for one hour..but when I eat something "unhealthy" I don't treadmill.

Welcome, D.S.

First of all, the treadmill is a great way to get some exercise. (Check out the exercise section, Treadmill fun). I hope you will keep it up no matter how badly you have eaten.

I'm glad you have already learned about "crash diets". They just don't work, and some could injure your health which is the next issue. Because you are 14, your body is still developing. You need proper nutrition.

You need to talk to a doctor about a balanced eating plan. What would be right for me as as adult, might not be a good choice for you.

Start reading the other posts for ideas that you can discuss with your doctor to find the best plan for you.

There are other teens here, so don't feel like you are the only one.

Come here often.

Welcome D.S.

Karolyn gave you some good advice. I agree with her-crash diets are not good!! You can lose in an unhealthy way - and you will more than likely gain it all back again. See a doctor to get you started (and don't be ashamed-there is no reason).

Also, there are a lot of places to post here, you can get a lot of support from other people going through the same thing. (of course, I am a lot older, but. . . ) I tried many diets-when i came here to diettalk, it sparked motivation for me! It can help you. I think there is a "teen" post too, I never went in there, but you should check it out to see if others are there.

If you need to email an "old" lady (36) for some help at any time, you can private message me anytime!!

Good Luck on your weight Loss!! YOU CAN DO IT!!
