:hm:
Well, I have posted a few times, just looking for some support and a diet buddy. Let me say that while I am not heartbroken :c( I do think that it seems this board is only supportive of people who are very overweight or very depressed about their weight. While I got virtually no responses (zero on some of my threads) , anyone saying they had 100 pounds to lose was welcomed right on in with 17+ responses. I think that it is really sad that you have to be obese to get some diet support here. I think that we are all after the same thing here so I find this discrimination disheartening.

jrsmrs,
People respond to your Replacing Habitual Eating post. I read your diet buddy post and you were looking for a very specific person. You also didn't tell us what kind of plan you were using. I am personal losing 75 bls. 39 gone 46 lbs to go. I also use the Richard Simion's plan so you wouldn't want me either.

You also have been here a long time. Not everyone checks this post everyday.

I have personally tried having 3 diet buddies from here and the 3 I chose weren't right for me.

I wish you much luck lossing your 15 lbs. there are plenty of people who want to help but if you request people with very little to lose then you may have to weight. Since I been here I have found maintainers and people who need to lose a lot of weight. Please be patient and don't start putting people down.

melissa, i wonder if you have supported anyone else while you have been here or are you just expecting instant support for yourself? you have only made 6 posts..do you really think you can judge us from that kind of participation on your part? how about giving us a chance?? there are really not that many people here who are 5'5" and weigh 143 and want to weigh 125..that is a very low goal for that height..most people would love to be 143 at that height..i dont see how you can be upset and say you have suffered from "discrimination"...give me a break..support works both ways..you try giving others some support and you will find that it comes back to you double..that's usually the way the world works..i think if you give it some thought you will know that is true...best of luck in your endeavours :rose:

it could well be that being so specific about the type of buddy that you want has led to others feeling discriminated by you.
i noticed that when others have responded to your post (habitual eating) you havent even bothered to respond..
if you only want to hear the advice of others that are a similar weight to you then you are limiting yourself. i am at goal and i know that the support i have gotten here in the past 4 years cant be found anywhere else.
i have gotten this advice from people underweight, at goal and overweight. how many pounds over or underweight they are doesnt determine the relevance of their support/advice.
dont judge people too quickly.

Hi jrsmrs,

I don't remember reading your post but I'll be honest and tell you that if I did see a post for a diet buddy and saw your stats, I would assume that you would not be interested in support from someone like me. I still have at least 25+lbs to lose, you're smaller than I am, so in my opinion, I'd be asking myself, "what could I possibly offer her in terms of support?" Even your heaviest weight you listed is still smaller than I am, so I would have just assumed I wouldn't be what you were looking for.
I do tend to respond quickly to those 100+ because I've lived and had to lose from 100+ and I understand the unique problems/frustrations of starting out at those higher numbers.

As I stated above, I really don't know what I could possibly offer you in the form of eating advice, but now exercise is a different thing! If you'd like an exercise buddy to check in with, I'm your girl! :)

I hope you find the support you're looking for,

Donna

Thank you to those who responded. I hope the tone of my post did not come across too harshly, as it was not meant to be. Anyway, to sooz, I actually browse the boards quite a bit here, probably a few minutes a day, at least. And I have responded to posts that I think I can add something to. A lot of the ones I have read, there have been 10 other people before me who said just what I would say, so there's not much point in adding yet another posting, just to repeat the same thing. Many others are asking question to which I have no answer- about low carb diets, etc. I just plain old have no clue, so what would I say? I can understand about the diet buddy one- I was just fishing around to see if there was anyone out there. I am very new here and therefore don't have a whole lot to say, whereas it seems that a lot of people around here can offer more support because they have been pursuing their goals for a long time and know the ins and outs of lifestyle change. Not sure what I am trying to say, I was just pointing out something I noticed. Oh well. :(

hey jrsmrs, i know what you are going through because I basically have the same weight loss goals as you do. I think you could get support from me, or anyone else. I know that I have recieved support from people with a lot of weight to lose but we are struggling with similar problems. You could turn to anyone because it suprised me how many people suffer from similar battles that I do.

jrsmrs,

I am glad you came back to this post so you can get a feel of how things work around here. I do hope you reach your goals and get and give some great support.

jrsmrs, dont give up on us and we wont give up on you ok?? what kind of support do you need? i see under diet plan you list "none" do you need help with that, or with exercise, or motivation or what?

the best advice i would give someone in your postion would be to exercise aerobically up to 6 days a week an hour a day and do weights 3 days a week...dont do fad diets, and dont cut your calories too low or do anything that would mess up your obviously good metabolism...one way people who have over 100 pounds to lose get there is to start where you are, lose 10 pounds, gain back 15, lose 15, gain back 20, lose 20, gain 25..see?? so dont mess up that great metabolism!!!
