When you are feeling depressed and stuffing your face with food....how do you stop yourself and get back on track again?

ouch that is a hard one!!:(
I try to remember the reasons why I am working so hard to loose this weight. I think about how far I have come... Usually when I am in this situation its cause I am depressed or anxious... so I admit it... and try to regroup! What ever the reason I am eatting...it just isnt worth it!

chew...swallow...deep breath...regroup. Take the pleasure I can from that bit, try to put the food away (not so easy, sometimes!!)--then I put the moment behind me and strive to improve, and move my body.

If the weather permits, I try to take a walk. Sometimes just a stroll not brisk walking or anything just enjoying the outdoors and my surroundings. This helps on days that its not raining. Coming here and posting and hearing back from others is a big help too.8-|

First, I always pray for strength, then if I just HAVE to eat, I force myself to find something healthier than junky food and weather permitting, I take a walk, too.

And if all of that fails...:tomato: I hit the chocolate. Sigh.

I get myself as far way from food as I can. Take a walk, even just getting in the car and taking a drive can help break the cycle. Posting here, and writing in my journal about why I'm eating also helps.

I try and call a friend to talk to about my depressed state. Like last weekend... I had a "situation" where I felt like raiding the fridge. But I decided to write about it instead and I met up some friends after work and we just talked and hung out for a couple hours... I felt better about my situation and I didn't "fall off the wagon!" :)

I think keeping busy, and if possible doing something you enjoy besides eating, is the key to preventing binging. You can do it. Luv ya, Alecia
